I think the facts I've

go a long way towards proving my theories.

I think they're insane and wrong.

- Might I understand you'll

(laughs)

and yet, not as quiet as some others.

(laughs)

Let's say we find us some accommodations

to accommodate a pair
of old, barnacle-back,

salty sea dog, piratey,

sea dogs like ourselves, eh, Dutch?

- You said a mouthful, Big Dan.

(laughs)

- Sarah, if I don't get some lunch

and get back to my really important work.

- (laughs) Gee, Dr. Applethorpe,
you sure are crabby.

Oh well, I guess that
science can be stressful.

Coming up with all those thoughts

and ideas and stuff, I mean.

- With all due respect, Miss Healey,

what would the town librarian

know about coming up with thoughts?

- I guess in my case,
the work's already done,

like in books and things, I
didn't have to write them,

I just have to know where they are.

(laughs) You are a smart man.

- I'm sorry, Dr. Applethorpe.

My husband, Amos, went
to the store this morning

and hasn't returned,

so I had to make soup.

- (laughs) Amos is such a funny man.

I'm sure he'll be back soon,

then we'll be hearing his
jokes and laughing too.

- Yes, my husband is a funny character.

(laughs)

(dramatic music)

- Oh, Amos!

You startled me, I didn't

- I wasn't,

not a minute ago,

but now I was.

- You know, I had to make soup?

I suppose it may be all of this

inn keeping that I've been doing

It's starting to take its toll.

(bell rings)

I'm Big Dan Frater.

This is my fellow boat
jockey and sidekick,

Dutch "The Swede" Annacrombie.

We're a couple of tired salts

looking to stretch our sea legs

in a nice stationary berth for the night.

- What he's trying to say is,
we want a couple of rooms.

- Thought I did say that.

(laughs)

- It just so happens, we have two rooms,

and you can have them both each.

You're just in time for lunch,

and you can both have that each, too.

- If you're asking us that as nicely

as I think you just did,

things that would be better than that

have no appeal to us, little lady.

(laughs)

a lot less better than they are.

- Yes.

(dramatic music)

He just loves to entertain.

- I'm not sure about this,

but I think you'll enjoy the drapes.

They tried to get it loose,

but they couldn't.

(laughs)

- You know, Mary, it felt good today,

really good, standing
up to old Applethorpe.

You should have seen the look on his face

when I told him I agreed with Sheila's

theories on the forehead.

I thought he'd go up like a cattle wagon.

- Darling, isn't the forehead just

part of the front casing
that contains the brain?

Isn't it the brain
itself where our thoughts

really originate from?

- I doubt it.

silly little Mary,

When are you gonna remember
that I'm the scientist

and you're the housewife?

- I know, Philip, and far be it for me

to tell you your work,

but I just think that maybe Dr. Bexter

locked in that flat,
flesh-covered carapace?

Yeah, I guess I could talk

- [Sheila] I've got it, Philip, I have it!

(glass breaks)

- You've had a breakthrough?

- I've finally done it!

Succeeded in isolating the secretion

of the foreheadial lobe.

- The foreheadial lobe?

- Forheadial gland, whatever it is,

the gland I've discovered in the forehead.

- Oh, I didn't know you did that.

Well that's good.

- Yes, yes, but now I've extracted

what it secrets, or excretes.

- And what does it secrete, or excrete?

- Let's just call it
for now, Foreheadazine.

Don't you see, Philip. it must be the key.

If we can extract enough Foreheadazine--

- We can finally prove the
existence of the forehead!

- Well we know the forehead exists.

What we can finally prove is that is

the source of all human intellect,

human and otherwise.

- Oh, of course, I meant that.

I'm just so excited and stuff.

- The question is, how do we
obtain enough Foreheadazine?

- And once we do, how
do we test your theory?

- Well we'd need a subject.

Someone willing to allow
a series of injections

to enhance their intellect enough

to prove the forehead is the real brain.

- That's impossible.

Dr. Applethorpe would never authorize it.

- Not authorized, no.

- Of course, I suppose, one of us.

get the wheels caught when
you try to turn the aisles,

those shiny, little, metal conveyances

to look exactly like another.

once I'm no longer drinking this one,

so I don't become vexed and irascible?

(mumbles)

(dramatic music)

- I can kill a small animal easily.

- So Milly thinks everyone's taking out

books about foreheads for a reason

and I've got a date with her.

- And I didn't know there was even

a single book on the
forehead, never mind several.

(laughs) Is this a wonderful world?

Oh, the imaginings of
the fertile human mind.

You know, if I had a dollar for
every funny, strange thought

that came to someone from out of the blue,

I'd have a number of dollars.

(dramatic music)

- Wonder where is everybody?

(dramatic music)

Dutch and me would sure like us

a bite of lunch to it, if
it ain't too late to eat it.

- You'll have to wait.

The dining room's closed

for repairs.

(dramatic music)
(blubbering)

Been all over, done things, seen things.

- [Dan] Done some things, too.

- Yeah, I know.

I guess what I'm trying to say is,

- In certain areas of
the outer Antipathes,

no, they steal foreheads.

I have to say I've never actually seen

men rubbing foreheads together.

Amos and Dr. Applethorpe were doing it

and I saw them.

- Rubbing foreheads?

Well that's strange.

They don't even like each other.

There's something odd going on here

that doesn't meet the eye,

and it seems to involve foreheads.

shouldn't wriggle ever,

that happened to Emmett
Loop a few years back, but--

stifled by no one ever
