For this week's Maxi Challenge, you'll be auditioning to star

in "RuPaul's Drag Race Live" at Flamingo Vegas.

you'll need to make attention-grabbing

Next, you'll sit down with a star

who's no stranger to headlining on the Vegas strip,

the large and in charge, chunky yet funky

Latrice Royale.

of "Gift Shop," the newest song to be added

to "RuPaul's Drag Race Live."

And we'll be joined by our extra special guest judge,

Being in the bottom last week definitely

because these girls are talented,

and so you got to keep focused.

Because my... my unique perspective

here, especially among this five,

is, like, the tap dance, the vintage, the glamour.

She is, like, an inspiration.

She knows about longevity in the business.

She is a queen that everyone loves.

Like, you cannot not love Latrice.

- Ru has sent me here to see if you have

what they call headlining potential.

Now tell me, what is your best quality?

- I would say my best quality is my confidence.

- OK.

- For a long time, I stifled it because I believed the world.

I come from a small town in Alabama.

So they definitely tried to beat me down,

but as I came out and found drag,

I've just realized that I was born to do this.

I have every reason to be confident,

and those people were just jealous all along.

- 100%. - You know what I mean?

- Yeah.

Now what's your worst quality?

- My worst quality is probably my shadiness.

- Oh, she's shady. - Yeah, she's shady.

I'm the villain and also America's sweetheart

combined into one.

Not everyone always looks fabulous,

and if I didn't care, I would just let you

walk out there looking crazy, but instead, I tell them,

and that's the way I show my love.

- Now, looking back on this season,

what would you have done differently?

- I think I would have started off the competition

just being myself.

I came into this thinking I knew everything about drag.

I'm a pageant girl.

They wanted to see who was behind this perfect persona

that I've created.

- That's it.

As a Southern Christian, would you like to sing

- I would love to.

Was there ever a moment during the competition

that you wanted to give up?

- You know what?

It was week one... - Really?

- In the competition. - Talk about it.

- You know, I've only been doing drag three years,

and outside of this, drag isn't my full-time job.

I'm a full-time cook out of this.

So coming in here... - Oh, wait, wait.

You can cook?

- Oh, yeah, baby. - Oh, you get down?

- You like burgers? - I do like burgers.

- Well, I'm a smash burger aficionado.

- Really? - Uh-huh.

- OK, tell me about you giving up now.

- You know, I wear my heart on my sleeve.

So it's easy to tell when I'm having a good time

or a bad time or if I'm frustrated or angry,

and sometimes I don't rub people the right way,

so when I got here, this was just a whole new world for me.

- The thing that could prevent Onya from getting the job

is being in her head too much.

You need to be a joy. You need to want to be there.

Because I don't want to be around people

that are miserable.

- It took a lot of me getting out of my own way,

and I had to be like, "Girl, you got to stop

alienating yourself.

"You got to stop sitting over there in the corner

and really engage."

- I mean, "Drag Race" in itself is, you know,

we're a bit of a sorority. - Yeah.

- And so it's important to have great camaraderie,

a great sisterhood, especially in Vegas

where the machine is moving full speed ahead.

You have to be quick and treat everybody

with respect and kindness. - Yeah.

I knew coming in here, I was gonna have a issue,

like, vibing with certain queens,

and I just wasn't sure

if I was gonna be able to handle it.

Fast forward to now, I feel like I've broken down

those barriers, and I've built up

the drag callouses to handle anything that's coming my way.

- Hopefully we'll see you in Vegas, baby.

- Yes, ma'am.

- Suzie Toot.

Well, first of all, we know each other.

- Absolutely. - You home team.

- Home team, baby, Fort Lauderdale.

- That's what I'm saying. I'm so glad to see you here.

- I am the first girl since Latrice

to be on "Drag Race" from Fort Lauderdale.

It's really cool to get to share this moment.

- Tell me, what is your worst quality?

- I'm very unique.

I'm very unlike the typical drag queen.

The things that are expected of a drag queen of,

like, the perfect hair line and the snatch.

That stuff, they need a little zhuzhing.

- OK.

- But all in all, I'm kind of the whole package.

- You're a total package.

Looking back on the season,

what would you have done differently?

- I was so excited about Snatch Game.

I had, in my mind, the perfect character.

I thought RuPaul would lose her mind laughing at it,

and then it just didn't go that way.

And I learned that I can be a little niche,

and it's OK to allow

a wider audience to laugh.

- Now, do you think all of your competitors

are ready for the Las Vegas stage?

- I think every single one of the girls

that are here are fierce performers

and incredible entertainers.

- OK, I don't want the bullshit.

We're not at the pag. - That is true.

- You're trying to get a gig here.

You got to beat these other girls out.

You better throw some bitches under the bus

or leave them at the bus stop.

[laughs]

- Some of the girls here, they do drag queen very well,

but a lot of people do drag queen very well,

and I do Suzie Toot like nobody's business.

- Not to toot your own horn.

- Not to toot my own horn or anything, but beep, beep.

- But beep, beep.

- They could never put a girl after me.

- Because nobody want to follow that.

- Exactly.

My worst quality is I'm a crybaby.

I feel like before I transitioned,

I was a very, dare I say it, angry boy.

And now I am a happy, vibrant, emotional woman.

- Now, what trials and tribulations in your life

have prepared you for this gig?

- Oh, Latrice, how much time do you have?

I was a homeless drug addict.

So I am, like RuPaul said, a survivor.

I've been... I've survived through

a human trafficking incident.

I was at a hotel party with friends.

We were all under the influence of a lot of substances.

They asked me if I wanted to take my friends home

and come back alone,

and young and dumb me, I did, and I came back.

They gave me some stuff.

I woke up handcuffed to a bed and stayed there for 48 hours.

[somber music]

I'm sorry.

Those moments make me feel like I just want this

to be a long-term journey, honey.

I've survived through so many fucked things

in life that I'm prepared for anything you throw at me.

Now, I might cry, but I am prepared to handle it.

- Life experience is the best teacher in the world,

and sometimes what we go through and experience in life,

while we're in it, we're not feeling

like it's doing us a service, but look at you.

The strength, the perseverance.

What happens when you put pressure?

- Girl. - Diamonds, baby.

- Diamonds.

- Was there ever a moment during the competition

that you wanted to throw in the towel

and just say, "Girl, I can't do this no more, let me go"?

- Ooh.

Yes, when Arrietty done stole my jokes.

- No, what had happened?

- For the roast, the girl who went right before me

stole half of my jokes,

and I found out as I was sitting waiting to go on.

In that moment, I really was like, "Girl,

I feel like I'm done."

To be fair, they didn't laugh at the jokes

that I wrote when she said them.

- [laughs]

Now, where is the girl that stole your joke?

Did I talk to her? - She went home.

- Oh. - I sent her home that day.

- Oh, oh.

Karma is a bitch, isn't it?

- Hello. - She works fast here.

Do you feel ready to headline in Vegas?

- When the ferocity index is high,

she should be on Vegas. - OK.

- And the ferocity index is high with this one.

- This is what I'm talking about.

- I want to combine the worlds of burlesque

and high-energy dance, OK?

So where burlesque is usually very poised, very ballerina,

I want to combine that with being

able to buck the house down.

- Do y'all have any favorite moments

here in y'all's journey?

- Seeing you in the bottom two.

- Squirrel Games totally rocked my world

for, like, what we were going to expect this season.

- I'll never forget walking into that Squirrel Game room

and seeing all of you but also seeing a clown.

- Don't talk about Kori like that.

- Please.

- That was one of my hardest days.

- I agree with...

I was, like, really overwhelmed.

- Yeah, I do remember you being super quiet the first few days.

I was like, "Oh, no, Sam."

And then you totally snapped out of it

and became a monster beast demon from hell.

- [laughs]

- I was scared of Lexi at first.

- Really? - Why?

- She's a Southern queen,

and I knew that she wouldn't put up with bullshit,

but thank God we became friends.

Because I do not want to be on the opposite side of that.

- The first impression I have of Sam versus what I think

of Sam now is literally polar opp...

they're like different people. I hated her.

I just thought she was nothing.

And once I started to realize that we were much more similar

than I thought, she has become my favorite person

in this competition now.

- I remember Suzie.

The minute she walked in, I said, "oh, my God."

- Oh, my God.

I think we all remember the moment we saw Suzie.

- I've always wanted my name in the papers.

- I always wanted to be in the papers.

- You could just tell that you were very smart.

- Mm. - I was like, "oh, my God."

- I am so glad for Sam and I's relationship now.

I just remember being like, "There's no way she gets me."

- Well, that's the thing is, like,

I just preferred the glitz and the glam and the fab.

- Yeah.

- But it is fascinating that not everyone

is inspired by that, you know? - Totally.

I am really close with these girls.

Of course, they make fun of me endlessly,

but it's all with love, and it makes me so happy.

- I... you know, I didn't do drag full-time

before coming out here.

So I was worried about being immersed

in the world of drag queens, and then I met Jewels.

She too pretty. She too perfect.

And I'm not gonna like this bitch.

- Oh, my God.

- And then our first argument, I was like...

- Oh, my God.

- I hated that trim.

- Have your moment 'cause you're not gonna

have too many more, bitch.

- I really don't like this bitch!

So I am just so happy... - We made...

So what was the biggest boot of the season?

- Joella.

- I'm so glad we were able to read each other

to dog filth with love this whole season.

- That's the fun for me is we're drag queens, y'all.

Like, it's real. We're not heart surgeons.

We should cut up and kiki. - Absolutely.

- I'm truly gonna miss all of y'all.

I'm gonna cherish our friendship.

I was looking at this as another pageant

where I came in and competed and then

never saw anyone again,

but I am starting to love all these girls,

and I see them as my friends.

But, bitch, I still want to win, honey.

- Onya, do you think that track records

are playing into this?

- It's not the end all be all, but the wins do go into play.

- Well, that's not true.

A lot of the time, the girl who has the most wins

doesn't win the season.

It would break my heart to get this far

and not make the top four or top three.

Even when all the odds were stacked against me,

I fought, I battled, and I'm not leaving "Drag Race"

until I get my top four placement.

I don't care what's standing in my way.

This top five represents a wide variety of drag,

and I think all of them have very strong reasons

for why they should be in the finale.

For every reason that they have,

I feel I have a stronger reason.

What I was looking for was a little bit of vulnerability,

and I wasn't finding it until you got stumped.

In that moment, you went inward,

and I saw you realizing like, oh, I don't have a plan.

And at least it was real.

- But I loved your vulnerability when you admitted

that the other woman stole your joke,

but then you don't know if it worked even when she did it.

- It didn't. No one laughed.

- I thought that was so priceless.

- I had no idea that Arrietty stole your jokes.

I love that you were spilling tea,

which everybody wants in an interview,

but you kind of still kept it classy.

Tonight, your outerwear is so beautiful.

That do impress me much because to have a full-time job

and do drag part-time and be where you are

in this short amount of time,

you should be very proud of yourself.

- I mean, that promotional video is a testament

to how smart, how you are able to comprehend

what the assignment is and actually give it your own spin.

Now, throughout this competition,

you have been guarded on a personal level.

Why have you not gotten the message that you are safe here?

with chasing the dream.

- But my advice is, you know, have more fun.

Just rein it in the slightest bit

so it doesn't cross that line.

- You are so extraordinarily talented.

When I got to act opposite you

in "Ross Mathews Versus the Duck,"

right away, I thought, this is an actress.

So when we have a challenge like sell the Vegas show,

you know how to do the gig,

except you did "Anything Goes."

It wasn't Vegas. It wasn't even Reno.

- And then in the number,

they were all doing this Vegas thing,

and you were still in a talkie in 1927.

So it just didn't go.

Also, the character shoes almost killed me.

If you're gonna wear character shoes,

make your LaDucas sparkle.

- I will say that what I saw in your interview

that really blew me away, I wrote down

"so incredibly self-reflective."

And that's a quality that will take you as an artist

into so many different places.

So I see someone who's completely

committed to what they're doing,

and that you can bring everywhere.

- You were so charming in your interview.

I loved it.

I just want you to look at yourself as a full picture

and not one thing.

- During this competition, you did venture

into different makeup styles, and we were just

gobsmacked when we saw that.

- But we never did get the full "I'm away from it" Suzie Toot.

- You know, I felt like with the semifinals and with this,

it would be like a return to form but more polished,

and it would be spectacular and amazing

and oh, my God, we love you, and it didn't read.

- You set the bar very high.

You're so talented.

You have a huge future ahead of you.

I have no doubt you're gonna get on Broadway.

I just want it to be more than one show.

I want you to last and get your Tony

and do all the things in your dreams,

but you have to put yourself out of that comfort zone.

OK, now, just between us squirrel friends,

there is a lot to discuss tonight,

and a lot is on the line.

So let's focus on this week's challenge

and how it relates to their overall journey,

starting with Jewels Sparkles.

- Quite honestly, I think she was my favorite.

In "The Gift Shop," I thought she was fantastic.

That Cher hair is gorgeous on her.

She knew the choreo. She was smiling.

She was having a great time.

- On the runway, Jewels Sparkles sparkled.

To quote her promotional video, ding, ding,

ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. - Yes.

- I'd see that show in a minute.

Sense of humor, a little wink-wink,

nudge-nudge, a little sex appeal.

She had it all.

- Well, I think Jewels has got star power,

humor, and an ability to transform herself.

And these are all things, to me, that put you

at the top of the game. - Lexi Love.

- Here's the thing with Lexi Love.

She has shown out on the runway every single time.

Tonight was no exception.

I loved that opulent outerwear that she wore.

- I'm in awe of the... the essence of

"I will never not be me" of Lexi.

Her sass, her bounce, her joy, yes.

- In the promotional video, uh, I wouldn't go see that show.

I would not.

But she really shined in the "Gift Shop" number.

Could not take my eyes off of her,

and I had to force myself to look at the other girls.

And, normally, I would be forcing myself

to look at the dancers. I couldn't even do that.

Onya Nurve.

- The one-on-one interview, now y'all had

such a problem with her North Carolina

pastor's wife outfit. I actually loved it.

She consciously said, "You know what?

I'm gonna do a daytime talk show look."

- [laughs] - It was the wig.

- Daytime wig, Ross, daytime wig.

- That should be a middle of the night wig

is what that should be.

But what worked for me was her story in the interview.

She talked about what it felt like being

the cook in the back of the kitchen,

wanting to be in the light on the stage.

I think about that a lot because,

you know, I worked at McDonald's,

register, drive-through, and grill.

Triple threat. - Yes!

- And I would think, "One day,

"I'm gonna be on TV talking about

how I used to flip burgers." Hello.

- And that runway look was everything and a bag of chips.

And they were Doritos, so you know?

- Mm. - Yum.

- In the "Gift Shop" number, she was fantastic.

Onya is a star.

She really has a presence

that will not be ignored.

All right, Sam Star.

- Listen, the million-watt smile.

There's a sense of she swallowed the sun

in a way that just kind of comes through

in all the different moments.

- Tonight on the runway,

I thought that was real pretty.

Yes, it did age her. Ross, you are correct.

But she is a pageant girl,

and that is pageant beauty right there.

- Did you hear? Michelle said I was right.

- One thing, Ross.

- Here's the deal. That promo video was not good.

Do you remember Cal Worthington?

- Oh, yeah.

- He would sell you... Come on down. I got used cars.

- In the photo session,

the outfit didn't allow her

to do much more than what we saw,

but we got some good pictures out of it.

She has had very few missteps in this competition.

- Suzie Toot was a tough one for me tonight, y'all.

She was talking about how she saw herself

like as a return to form, but really,

she never left the form.

- Why would you wear an "Anything Goes" bathing suit

in your promo pic for Vegas?

- Also, the outfit she wore in the "Gift Shop"

number was jarring.

They won't be selling those at the gift shop.

- I will say, in the interview, she showed me

again why I love her so much.

Total pro, so good at what she does.

If she were to win this crown, she would represent

this show so beautifully.

- My own experience is that knowing

how to make the right choices in the right moments

is part of what we do and what this moment is,

and she made a choice that didn't work, you know?

So this was one moment.
