rare guitar has me jazzed.

OK, the first
commercially available

electric guitar that
was widely produced.

There's just something
about a Gibson hollowbody

that's got that sound.

- It sounds like a really
weird pairing to me.

remembers that episode.

So what have we got here?

- This is a 1973 to 1974 Gibson
ES-150D full hollowbody guitar.

- OK, the first
commercially available

electric guitar that was widely
produced was the Gibson ES-150.

And the 150 because
it was 150 bucks.

- Huh.
- [laughs]

- I didn't know that.

And I'm hoping to sell my
1973 Gibson guitar.

This guitar has
a walnut finish.

It's in practically
perfect shape.

The guitar looks
to be all-original.

All the electronics are there,

and I haven't been able
to find

many of them for sale online.

I'm hoping to get $6,000
for my Gibson guitar.

- Super cool.

So the ES-150 was
a really new thing.

So, you know, this
was a risk for Gibson.

It was very expensive.

We're talking-- this is 1936,
the middle of the Depression,

and you have a $150 guitar.

And 150 bucks in the middle
of the Depression

was a lot of money

considering people are
getting by on 5 bucks a day.

- Sure.

- And Gibson had no idea if
it was going to sell well.

- Hmm.

- Because it's not only do
you got to buy a guitar,

but you also have
to buy an amplifier.

But there's just something
about a Gibson hollowbody

that's got that sound.

- Yeah, absolutely.

- Where did you get it?

- Well, actually, an uncle
of mine, he passed

away, unfortunately.

And I knew that it was
something incredible.

- I mean, anything with
a Gibson name on it

is more or less sought
after, just plain and simple.

I mean, it's just the
finish is really cool.

- Yeah, it's walnut.

- Yeah, usually you have like
a starburst or a cherry finish

or something like
that, but like,

this natural wood
finish is really cool.

I-- it's something you
rarely see in a Gibson.

Yeah, it looks like
he barely played it.

- Yeah.

- OK, super cool.

How much do you want for it?

- I'd like to get
6,000 for it.

- Sounds a little high.

- OK.

- But I'd really like my guitar
guy to take a look at it.

He'll know everything there is
to know about it, because it

literally looks like
it's been sitting

in a closet for over 50 years.

- Mm-hmm.

- Got a couple of cool
things that I think

you might be interested in.

- I see you got a
coin right there.

OK, not a coin.

What is this, a medallion?

- So it's a gold token.

It's from 1953.

It was presented to the
winner of a golf tournament

over at the Desert Inn.

This drawing was
presented to Wilbur Clark,

the owner of the Desert Inn,
by a famous cartoonist,

Karl Hubenthal.

It has all the players that
played in the Tournament

of Champions.

- Are you a golfer?

- Not a good one.

- [laughs]
Is anyone?

Maybe these guys are.

- I'm at the pawn shop
today to sell my 1953

Tournament of Champions
golf items, a gold token

and a cartoon drawing.

It's all Las Vegas history.

You're not going
to find anything

like this anywhere else.

I'm asking $2,000 today,
just because of the history

associated with it,
plus the value of gold.

So adding those two together,
I come up with about $2,000.

- It's pretty cool here.

So where did you get this?

- Well, I got it from the
estate sale of Wilbur Clark.

I don't know if you
remember the sign said

"Wilbur Clark's Desert Inn."

- Yeah, it was Wilbur
Clark's Desert Inn.

They built it in 1950.

And I think 1953,
they built the golf course.

And probably right
around that time,

the locals just started
calling it the DI.

- There you go.

- Looking at the
picture right now,

it's got a lot of
cool stuff on it.

It has each major golfer
of the time period

who won the
championship that year.

And then anyone who
won the championship

would have got
invited to the Las

Vegas Tournament of Champions.

And then over here, you
have a token of some sort.

- So the gold
token was presented

to the winner of
the tournament,

and Wilbur Clark kept one.

I don't know if they
made more than two,

but that was the one that
belonged to Wilbur Clark,

the owner of the Desert Inn.

- And the token
says "Tournament

of Champions Desert Inn."

If I had to guess, we could
test it if we need to,

but it's probably
under 10 karat.

Do you have any
documentation that's saying

this was Wilbert Clark's?

- I got receipts and things,
but I can't find them.

- OK.

Great artist,
cool stuff, but how much

are you looking to get for it?

- I was thinking about $2,000.

- I'm not going to be able
to pay near that price.

You know, when I look at it,
I think it's really cool.

But I think I
could probably get

about $1,000 for the package
if I was to sell this in one.

Would you take 600 bucks
for it?

- I think I could
probably talk to a friend

of mine who could probably
give me more than that, so--

- Yeah, for sure.

But if I'm going to sell
it, I'm going to want

to get some more as well, so--

with a Gibson Model ES-150D

guitar from the early 1970s.

It doesn't have any
of the usual wear

and tear from being played.

The seller is
asking for $6,000,

but I'd like to have my

if this price strikes

a chord with him or not.

So Norlin-era Gibson, a company
known for beer and cement.

So when they took
over Gibson, they

started doing some pretty
interesting things in the '70s.

And this one, it's an anomaly.

So you have a full
archtop depth body.

This feeds back a lot more.

So it's kind of,
who does it appeal to?

Does it appeal to
your rock people?

Does it appeal to
your jazz people?

It kind of lives in this
interesting in-between.

- I mean, it looks like
it's barely been played.

- Yeah.

May I pick it up?

- Go for it.

I kind of want to take
a look at these pickups

to see if they're original.

Mind if I pop
those out of there?

- Sure, go for it.

I would say that this has
lived a life at some point

because these tuning
machines are later.

These are not the
original tuners on here.

So these would have been
made like '80s, '90s,

these Gibson deluxe gears.

So something's happened there.

Let's see if we have
the original patent

number pickups in here.

Let's take a quick peek here.

Hey, there's what we're after--

original patent number decal.

So everything checks out here.

Electronics look good.

Let's take a look
at one more thing,

some finish that's
looking a little bit

funky to me on this headstock.

So what I'm seeing here
is particularly unusual.

You see,
there's this delineation

of finish between what
we have here on the neck

and what we have on the
headstock right here?

- Mm-hmm.

- Let's take a look with the
black light and see if that--

yeah, that even comes out
a little bit more apparent.

This definitely lived
a life at some point.

And even though we
can't see a repair,

there would be no other
reason to put finish

and mask this exact
area unless we had

a repair there of some kind.

- OK.

So this was, like,
cracked or something

like that at one point.

- Highly likely, yes.

- OK, so throw me a number,
because I have no idea

what this would go for.

- If this was soup-to-nuts
totally straight,

we'd be looking at 5,000.

But with the headstock
repair, some ambiguity there.

We're looking closer to 3,200.

- All right.

the Red Sox, I think,

the year before in 1914.

- Correct.

really known as the Babe Ruth

that we know today until he
was traded over to the Yankees.

- Killing me.

- I'm here at the pawn shop
to sell a 1915 Red Sox world

championship pillowcase.

This pillowcase, I've
only seen a couple of them,

and I have no references
other than that to go on.

I'm ready to sell it
because my daughter

is getting married,
and we need a DJ.

My asking price on this
pillowcase is 9,500.

- OK, It's pretty
cool, 1915 Red Sox.

They won the World
Series that year.

That's before the
curse of the Bambino.

- Absolutely.

- They went 85 years with
very troubling times.

- Very troubling.

- I'm not well versed in
Babe Ruth's early career,

obviously, at that
point in his life.

But he played the whole
season, and he even

played in the World Series.

Is he on here somewhere?

- He is not.

And this photo they
think was taken before he

actually joined the team.

- OK.

So where did you
get this pillowcase?

- I bought this from a
longtime friend of mine

who's a big sports collector.

And he sold it to me because
he wanted to buy more stuff.

The curse.
[chuckling]

- The curse of collecting--

I have my own curse.

- Yeah.

- I mean, the pillowcase
looks in fair condition.

I'm only saying
that because there's

a giant stain right here.

And other than that,
it does look to be

in really good condition.

You know, this is
over 100 years old.

So to see all the
little tassels

and everything still
there and not ripped out,

it's pretty cool.

Which leads me to believe
that the moment someone got

this particular pillowcase,
it was very important to them

so they found a way to preserve
it and take care of it.

How much are you
looking to get?

- I'm looking to
get $9,500 for this.

- Um, not having Babe
Ruth on it, in my opinion,

has to affect the
value immensely.

with a framed silk
pillowcase of the 1915

Boston Red Sox team.

He's asking 9,500 for it,
but Babe Ruth's not even

pictured in the team photo.

to let me know if this
needed the Bambino

to be worth this price,
or if it's just a sleeper.

- This is a phenomenal
display piece.

- But Babe Ruth isn't on it.

was not in this team photo

when they did this.

Ruth played that whole season.

They went on to win
the World Series,

but they were a
dynasty in that decade.

They won in 1912,
1915, 1916, 1918.

But unfortunately, Ruth
didn't make this team photo.

And what I speculate happened
is they used a team photo

from the beginning
of the season

or the end of the
prior season when he

only played a couple of games.

And then they just took that
team photo to make this,

and then they added, you know,
"World Champs 1915" here.

- Yeah, I was gonna ask
about the condition.

Because obviously it's silk,
so it's not the easiest thing

to keep nice.

- It actually is
in great shape.

It does have a few
minor flaws here,

a little bit of staining here.

But overall, to find something
like in this condition

is remarkable.

This is baseball
Americana right here--

- Yes.
- --from over 100 years ago.

- So what kind of value
would you put on this piece?

- I've only seen
a few of these.

Maybe less than five are
probably known.

If Babe Ruth
was in this photo,

this would be worth hundreds of
thousands of dollars.

- Home run.

- Yeah, I mean
big-time home run.

Exactly.

- Let's get the
editing program out.

- This piece, even though
Babe Ruth is not in it,

it's still going to be
highly desirable because

of the Red Sox,
because of them being

a dynasty in the World Series.

Chumlee, I feel that this
is definitely worth about

$10,000 in the current market.

James Dean in the debate club.

Sounds kind of nerdy,
not the real cool guy

you saw in the movies.

my James Dean

autographed yearbook page.

This yearbook page
actually highlights

that he was in the debate
team in high school.

It's pretty rare because
James Dean, obviously,

passed away
when he was really young.

So there's not a lot of
photographs of his out there.

My asking price is $7,000.

If I could make
some money today,

I think I'm going to put
that money into some acting

classes back in New York.

- Super cool James Dean.

He's one of those
Hollywood actors

that stayed around
and stayed cool.

Went to school in Indiana.

Real popular guy
in high school.

I mean, I guess he lettered
in, like, three sports.

Did the drama
club and all that.

Got the acting bug.

'51-ish, he went to New York,
did some Broadway stuff.

He ended up getting a play
on Broadway, "The Immoralist."

He got, like, critical acclaim.

The producer or director for
"East of Eden" heard about him,

had him come to
Hollywood, got the role.

And after that, I mean, it's,
you know, Hollywood legend.

By the time he was 24,
he was a major star,

which is a huge achievement.

Where did you get this?

- I got it from
a buddy of mine.

Just traded some stuff,
and I was able to land

this really cool piece.

- He wasn't even famous for
a year when he passed away.

That's the crazy thing.
- Yeah.

- I mean, he did three
movies, "East of Eden,"

"Rebel Without a Cause"
and "Giant."

Every kid in this country
loved "Rebel Without a Cause,"

because--

I don't know--
I was a teenager.

I had all those hormones.

I was, like, pissed
off at everything, too,

you know what I mean?

And, you know,
they could relate to him.

- When it comes to, like,
autographs, it's presentation.

But they lived on
in pop culture.

They made a few good
hits that you probably

even hear on the
radio still today

if you listen to the radio.

of The Smiths' studio albums.

Everything's a
first U.S. pressing

except for
"The Queen is Dead,"

which is actually
a U.K. import pressing.

380 bucks for the collection

of The Smiths albums.

one of their hits called
"Money Changes Everything,"

I think I could get more bang
for my buck at this place.

Yeah, I was born in '82, right
when The Smiths became a band.

They just had this really
unique kind of sound

at the time.

Definitely recognizable,
if you hear them.

So do you collect records?

- I do.

special about these ones?

- So the first album
is the first album.

You know, every artist or
band's first debuted album,

it's always a
special one to get.

So that's an
original U.S. pressing.

Their second album is
also original U.S. pressing.

This is their magnum opus,
"The Queen is Dead."

That's a U.K. pressing with
the hype sticker on there.

And then their very last one is
another original U.S. pressing,

but all of them are in
crispy near-mint condition.

to do with these today?

- I'm looking to
sell The Smiths here.

- Do you have an idea what
you're looking to get for them?

- I was looking for 380.

- Like 380?
- 380 bucks.

- It's an animated short
that was created by Salvador

Dalí and Walt Disney.

They became friends in 1944,
and they decided in 1945

to do a animated short.

Salvador Dalí, he did a bunch
of screenprints that were going

to be put into cells
to animate,

but they ran out of
money, so then they

ended up shelving the project.

So this is one of the originals
from the whole project.

- OK, so it's one
of the originals,

but it was never
made into a cell.

Did it actually come
to fruition as a movie?

- Yes.

In 2003, Roy E. Disney,
the nephew of Walt Disney,

decided to take that off the
shelf and put it into fruition.

And so there's
the animated short.

- So tell me how you got it.

- I received the Salvador Dalí
screenprint from my father

as a gift.

- All right, gotcha.

What are you trying
to get out of it?

- I don't know, maybe $2,200.

- OK, so seeing as how
I didn't know Disney

and Dalí collabed at all, I
would like to have my Disney

expert take a look at it.
Do you mind?

- No.
- OK.

And after that, I'll have my
art guy kind of give me an idea

of what the art value is.

- We got a 78 B.C.
bronze Roman table.

- 78 B.C.?

That's a pretty exact date.

- Well, it's the only
one I could find.

- And where did you get it?

- Hermosa Beach, California.

- OK.

I imagine it wasn't made
in Hermosa Beach in 78 B.C.

[laughs]

- I'm at the pawn shop today
to sell

my 78 B.C. Roman table.

The table is a bronze table.

It has three legs.

And they usually
were in temples.

I'm here to sell it
because I figured I enjoyed

it long enough,
and now it's time

to move on to somebody else.

My asking price is 15,000.

If I make a deal today
and sell my table,

the majority of it
will go to operating

and running my dog rescue

that I personally do
out of my own home.

- This is incredible.

OK, and it's Roman?

- Well, the only
example I could find

was in the
"Encyclopedia Britannica."

It was the exact table
from approximately 78 B.C.

- All right.

So it is most likely bronze,
which they casted back then

and everything like that.

But just the way these are
welded on there, that looks

like electrical welds to me.

But this looks like
it's early 20th-century.

- Oh, it was?

- Yeah.

Right around 1900,
European antiques was the rage.

You couldn't afford them,
you just bought a replica.

- Oh, OK.

- And this is most likely
early 20th-century cast bronze.

I mean, you can see
there's not great details

in everything right here.

And it's just--
it's not 2,000 years old.

It's just a modern design.

It just-- it's not
indicative of what

they would have had back then.

- OK.

- All right?

most ravenous fan bases

of anyone in music.

They really were a
lot of people's band.

the records themselves.

to see what's going on here.

Can I look at them?

- Yes, Matt, you can.

- OK, so the way we figure out
if a record

is a first press is,

we have to look
at the runout.

So right there
is the runout groove.

So that's the space with
no information on it.

And there is an etching
that someone did,

and that's how
you can determine

the plant it was pressed at.
- OK.

- And yeah,
this is incredibly clean.

This one is an
American pressing.

I can tell you
already that this

is a British first
press because

of the hype sticker on it.

The first British presses come
with a hype sticker, which is--

does what it intends to do,
is hype the record,

tell you
what the big hits were.

OK.

I mean, these are so clean.

I really appreciate you
letting me handle these.

- Yeah, it's not often I see
the whole collection,

like, this clean.

A lot of the time when
these records come in here,

they've been heavily
played, you know?

- So Chumlee, you got four mint
first pressings of The Smiths

records in front of you.

- So if you were to put a value
on the collection as a whole,

what would you
put the value at?

- I think 600 would
be a solid price.

- Well, I guess
Disney and Dalí had

a collaboration at one point,
and I don't know much about it.

- Yes, they did.

It's a film called "Destino."

It was done in '45, '46.

At that time period,
Disney was doing

a lot of package films,
where they take various songs

and animate them.

And he was looking at a
song called "Destino."

And Dalí and Disney were
friends at this time,

and he said, I want to work on
this, and came to the studio

and started working on it.

- I'm not seeing
much Disney in there.

- It was really interesting in
that Dalí did his own flavor.

The Disney part is that they
were going to animate it.

It was abandoned because Disney
could not raise enough money,

and the drawings
stayed in the studio

until Roy E. Disney,
the nephew of Walt.

And he actually had
a fair amount of shares

and was involved in the studio.

And he decided to make
this as a passion project

to complete the film.

And it was shown
at various film festivals

throughout the world,
earning awards.

Was actually a nominee
for Academy Award in 2004.

- Oh, wow.

- OK, so tell me
how rare they are.

- He needed money to
complete the film,

and so they did these prints.

There's several
series out there,

and they were sold to help
raise capital for the film.

- So is this something
that Disney collectors

are kind of looking for or?

- Yes, because it hits not only
the '40s, which was the classic

golden age of animation, but
also it's in the new wave

of animation, the Renaissance.

So there are Disney
collectors who love this.

It was a high point for
Disney in that 2000s,

being an Academy
Award-nominated short picture

and winning many awards.

- OK, so tell me what
you think it's worth.

- Based upon the print
edition, the framing,

I'd say around $3,000.

- Yes.

- OK.

a numbered Salvador Dalí

screenprint from the
"Destino" collaboration

that he did with Walt Disney.

The seller is
asking for $2,200,

and I've learned
from Patrick Jenkins

it's worth $3,000 in the
Disney collectors' market.

Now, I would like
our art expert, Patrick,

to take a look at it and see
if it's worth more

in the art world than
the happiest place on Earth.

- So Disney-Dalí collab,
2004, made a movie out of it.

- "Destino."
- "Destino."

- Yep.

- I just had my Disney
expert, Patrick, as well,

come down and
take a look at it.

I guess it's authentic
from a Disney standpoint.

Now I just need my art guy
to take a look at it for me.

- Yeah.

Well, one of the key things to
look at here is the blind stamp

that has "Destino" in it.

But also if you take
a look at it, you can

see where it says "Destino."

And underneath of it,
it says "Salvador Dalí."

This is consistent, too,
with the edition size

for the hand-signed pieces.

- So this says "64."

So it's numbered, yes?

- That's not actually
the edition number.

The edition number over here,
this is number 4 of 10,

and that is
of the signed subset.

- Mm-hmm.

- The "64" refers
to the storyboard

or concept art number.

- Oh.

- So when they put
it together into--

- Does that bring up the value?

- The 64?
- Yeah.

- Not necessarily.

It's essentially
the title of the art.

- OK.

- So Dalí did a lot of
concept art for this.

There were actually
150-ish storyboards.

But some of the
original concept art

is purely Dalí with very
little Disney influence.

It's actually pretty
collectible by Dalí collectors.

- Patrick, what can you tell me
about the condition?

It looks pretty good to me.

- This is in great condition.

The corners are great.

There are no scuffs.

No ink is missing.

It hasn't faded.

There's no acid burn.

That really does
help the value.

- Oh, great.

- What do you think it's worth?

- I would put the value
right around $3,000.

- All right.

I love to collect memorabilia.

And when I met Larry Thomas,
I was like, oh, I have

to get him to sign this piece.

I have so much
memorabilia that my wife's

like, start selling it off.

for the chef's whites.

- Cool.

"Seinfeld" is definitely
a classic show.

- It was just great comedy.

This whole episode was
inspired by a real restaurant

in New York with a
grumpy guy who sold soup.

They picked Larry Thomas
to loosely portray him

because looked like him,
played the character really,

really well.

And he got famous
from the one episode.

- Yeah, and everyone
remembers, "No soup for you."

- I mean,
it's great American history.

It's great TV history.

It's a really cool item.

So did you get it for Festivus?

- I did get it for Festivus.

Actually, I was at the
Festivus Festival in Chicago.

- Are you familiar
with Festivus?

- No.

- It's a holiday they
came up with on "Seinfeld."

And part of tradition
of Festivus was once a year,

you have an airing
of your grievances.

Do you get gifts at Festivus?

- You don't get
gifts at Festivus.

You only get to air
your grievances.

So if I'm mad at you, I'm
allowed to say, hey, Rick,

I'm really mad.

And I tell you why.

- I like that.

- Mm-hmm.

This is really cool.

And it's on a real
chef's jacket, too.

It's not just a cheap prop, and
it would have prop tags on it.

Larry Thomas, though,
he's made a career

out of going to, like,
Comic-Cons and stuff

and signing stuff.

There's hundreds of thousands
of his signatures out there.

for like 40 or 50 bucks.

- I was really looking for

- Soup, one of the
legit OG meals,

a salty barrage of
flavor with the potential

to clear the sinuses and warm
your body from a winter chill.

To this day, many believe that
soups can help cure illness.

12th-century Egyptian Jewish
physician Moshe ben Maimonides

was the first
known to prescribe

chicken soup as a treatment
for respiratory tract issues.

But soup as a cuisine was
popularized in the 18th

century by the French.

Around 1765,
this French tavern owner

named Boulanger opened
the first restaurant

as we know them today.

And there's only one
item on the menu--

soup, sheep's feet simmered
in a white sauce, to be exact.

Not sure if I'll be adding
that to my restaurant's menu

anytime soon.

Soup was a huge hit
in the New World, too.

George Washington and
John Adams enjoyed a bowl

as a celebration
of key moments

in the fight
for independence.

In 1897, a little company
called Campbell's invented

a way to condense
an entire serving of soup

down into a tiny can,
changing the way

it could be enjoyed at home.

These days, Americans eat more
than 10 billion bowls of

soup annually.

I got all these ingredients,
but I think it'd probably

be better if my cook made it.

I kind of burn water.

likely have never seen before.

- Exactly, yeah.

The replacement of the
original analog cassette.

- Where did you get this?

- I got it from Phillips,
the inventor of this format.

And it's now housed at the
museum in Palm Springs.

- There is an actual
museum for, like,

digital compact cassettes?

- Absolutely, yeah.

- Is it a very small museum?

- It is a very
small museum, yeah.

I'm here at the pawn shop
today to sell

my ITTS video box.

It's original because it's
the first digital format

that was compressed.

It's an MP1.

Today, we're all
listening to MP3s.

So this is basically the
grandfather of the MP3.

That makes it very unique.

I'm looking to get $6,000 for
the digital compact cassette

player, the ITTS box,
and all of the cassettes

shown here today.

If I make a sale today,
I'll take half of that money

and donate it to a
charitable organization

for kids surviving cancer.

- This is interesting.

Early '90s, you know,
the CD was king,

but everyone kind of hated them
because they got scratched,

and they were-- they were
just-- they were just a pain.

And this was going
to be the new format

that everyone had playing.

Instead of CDs in their cars,
they were gonna have this.

- It should have.

- You know, whether it was
marketing or whatever it was,

this just--

I mean, it was
an utter failure.

And this thing right here, the
ITTS video box, what is that?

- On the tapes, there is
information that you can only

disclose via an ITTS video
box, who the producer were,

who the artist were,
who the recording artist was.

They slipped in all
kinds of information,

and that you can only
review if you have

an ITTS box,
which stands for Interactive

Text Transmission System.

Totally, totally geek.

But to give you an example.

OK.

- It looks so 1990s high-tech.

- So this is the karaoke
feature you see here.

Obviously, the text is running
in sync with the music.

But you can also show
the album information.

And what else have we got?

Track listing you could see.

So the idea was to have
eventually a player that would

have this built-in so
that everybody could

hook it up to their TV system.

- It's really interesting.

I just-- I mean,
this little box here,

I've never seen one before.

- There's only three
left in the world.

- How much do you
want for this?

- $6,000.

- You know, it's probably
worth that to somebody,

but it's just so obscure.

I'm just going to pass.

It's very interesting.

It's really cool,
but there's not

a lot of collectors of this.
