He's been through a little bit
of a space battle, I think.

- [chuckles] Yeah, some kind
of battle, that's for sure.

- And later, I take a look
at a pop star's wardrobe--

- And that is the OG of OGs.

That's the "Tell It
To My Heart" skirt.

- --as she sells
it to my heart.

- So how much you want for it?
- Oh, God, no, no.

- I think it's a salesman's
sample from Bigelow Aerospace.

Basically, this
company tried to sell,

like, a timeshare in space
for businesses to do research.

- OK, so this was
like some company

that was gonna build
satellite stations

and sell them to people.

- Rent it to them.

- Wouldn't you want
your own space station?

- Oh, yeah.
Always.

[chuckles]

I'm here at the pawn shop
today to try to sell

my Bigelow Aerospace
salesman sample.

The salesman sample is
made out of aluminum,

and it shows you all
the characteristics

that will happen in
the real space station.

I'm asking $700 for my
Bigelow salesman sample.

- It's really,
really interesting.

I think it's really cool.

Where did you get this?

- I go to garage sale and look
for stuff for my man cave,

and I came across
this at a garage sale.

- So it's a salesman
sample of what?

- It's a prototype
so you can see

what it looks like in space.

- And this is?

- That's the book I got
with it when I purchased it.

- OK.

Obviously, this company
had the business model of,

we're gonna make these
modules right here,

push them into space, and
you get your own Skylab

or whatever.

And this is like
one of the models.

Like, lease this to do,
like, space experiments.

- Yeah.

- All right.

I'm kind of baffled.

I mean, I've not heard
of Bigelow Aerospace.

2011 seems a little early,
because I don't think SpaceX

and-- they were doing
stuff like this back then.

But I mean, I imagine
that they were planning

on eventually getting
this thing in space

and charging these
leasing rates.

$195 million.

- Could be.

- How much do you want for it?

- I'd like to get
$700 if I could.

- OK.

I mean, I have a million
questions on this.

Like, I've never
seen one before.

So if you can hang
out for a little bit,

know a guy who probably

nutcracker made in Germany.

I don't know if Darth
Vader as a nutcracker

is the most evil
thing in the world.

- Much eviler than
the nutcracker we

associate with Christmastime.

- I'm at the pawn shop to
sell my Steinbach German-made

Darth Vader nutcracker.

The Darth Vader nutcracker
is made out of wood,

and it's handcrafted.

I bought the nutcracker in 1997
in Las Vegas at Caesars Palace

in the FAO Schwarz toy store.

If I could make some money
today, I'll go nuts with it.

- Pretty cool.

Is this the box for it?

- Yes, that has
all the details.

- OK, Steinbach.

Yeah, Steinbach
has been around.

They've been making nutcrackers
in the traditional way

for over 200 years.

Originally, the family
was like a wood mill,

and they were basically
selling wood, you know,

cutting down trees
and selling wood.

- Right.

- And at some point,
I guess they decided

to make nutcrackers,
or maybe that was

their plan from the beginning.

I believe they
still make it today.

What do you know about it?

- They sold them
at FAO Schwarz,

and it's about 28 years old.

And if you notice, there's
a little lever in the back,

and it makes his mouth go down.

You can put a walnut in
there and actually crack it.

- OK, um--

- He could probably crack
a nut using the Force.

He wouldn't even need to use
this little elaborate system

that he has here.

- So let's check it out.

OK, it's got a
lever right here.

- Correct.

You lift that up, and it
makes his little drawbridge

nutcracker mouth open.

- Definitely noticing some
wear and tear issues down here.

- Yes, he's been through a
little bit of a space battle,

I think.

- [chuckles] Yeah, some kind
of battle, that's for sure.

But the good thing is it
is covered by the cape.

So although that is there,
and it affects the piece,

it doesn't really affect
it visually too much.

Well, how much are you
looking to get for it?

- I would like to get $595.

They're kind of rare, and
they're not easy to come by.

- I think that's gonna be
a lot more than I can pay.

It is cool.

You do still have the box.

The box is in really
good condition.

This is kind of
like a niche thing.

I would try to buy
it like for $75.

- How about $100?

- I could do $100.
That seems fair.

- OK.

- All right, we got a deal.

the shop with an item

that he thinks is a Bigelow
Aerospace salesman sample.

I want more information
about this item

before I can make an
offer, so I've called

in the man who will know--
the Beard of Knowledge.

- Amazing.
This young man right here--

- How are you doing?

- --has this flux capacitor.

- No, it's a Bigelow
Aerospace model.

That's cool.

- Never heard of them.

- Really?

- I mean, all I know
is I got this book here

where they'll charge you like a
gazillion dollars to rent one.

- Yes.

Well, that was the
whole idea behind this.

I mean, you know who
Robert Bigelow is, right?

- Sounds familiar.

- Robert Bigelow
owned Budget Suites,

and he decided to
get into aerospace

and commercial aerospace.

So he came up with the
idea of an expandable unit

that you could
shoot into space.

What he was looking at
was a commercial space

station where you could rent
time in the space station.

This way, it would
actually be cheaper

than to pay NASA
for time on the International

Space Station.

The idea was not
necessarily bad,

but this actual concept got
canceled when he worked out

a deal with NASA to actually
build a different version

of this that did go
into space and is

actually connected to the
International Space Station.

I'm really curious--
where did you get this?

- I got it at the garage sale
a couple of miles from here.

- [laughs] Why do I never
stop at these garage sales?

- Well, thanks, man.
I know everything about it now.

You're the best.

- Thank you.

And thank you for
letting me see it.

- I told you he'd
know everything

there is to know about it.

I mean, I'll give you $300.

I'm not even going
to negotiate.

That's what I'm going to do.
Here's the reason why.

It's like, if I
didn't know about it,

that means like
almost everybody

doesn't know about it.

- Yeah, I realize that.

I think I'm gonna have
to pass because I'll

just keep it on my shelf in
my man cave for a while then.

- Put it right on top of this.

- So what do you have there?

- I have a very
beautiful guitar.

- Let me take a look here.

- This is a guitar that was
hand-built by James D'Aquisto.

- D'Acquisto obviously
is a very prominent

name in guitar building.

Have you played
this one recently?

- I've had it now for 30 years.

And I only took it out
maybe on Christmas.

- [chuckles]

- I'm here at the
pawn shop today

to sell my Fender
D'Aquisto guitar.

The guitar's been kept
in its original case

in my humidity-controlled
guitar room.

My asking price is
$90,000 because I

naturally wanted to leave a
little room for negotiating.

- This is pretty cool.

Do you know anything
about Jimmy?

- I know he's a really
big builder for the Fender

custom shop, right?

- Yeah, he actually had
been in Japan for a while,

making guitars.

And then Fender
decided to bring

him over to the custom shops
and start making these guitars.

Archtop guitars
are really cool.

This comes at a time
when people wanted

to be able to play
their acoustic guitars

at louder volumes with
better sound quality,

so these archtop guitars were
a way to make that happen.

What can you tell us about it?

- Well, Jimmy D'Aquisto built
it for the Fender custom shop

while he was there showing
their guys how to build them.

- OK, so where
did you get this?

- I was playing around New York
City, and there was an auction.

And for this guitar,
it was a buyer's auction,

and I could actually afford it.

I don't want to tell you
how much I paid for it.

- It's a beautiful guitar.

- Here's the certificate
of authority, if you will,

from the Fender custom shop.

- OK, definitely
this certificate

tells me that this guitar came
from the Fender custom shop,

but it does not tie Jimmy to
building this guitar at all.

I think we really got to
get someone else down here

and see if they know
any part of a story

that I'm not familiar to.

- What are you trying
to get out of it?

- $90,000.

- Oh, OK.

- That's a lot of money.

I do know these guitars do
go for quite a bit of money.

I mean, from what I know,
there's somewhere around

370 guitars made by Jimmy.

I've even seen some of
these go for five figures.

- I got a buddy in town,
be able to look at it

and kind of give
me an idea of what

he thinks I should pay for it.

- OK.

- A seller came into
the shop with a guitar

that he claims was built
in the Fender custom shop

by Jimmy D'Aquisto.

He's asking $90,000
but doesn't have

the paperwork
to actually prove

this was built by D'Aquisto.

So we've asked
Mike Ball to come down and let

me know if we have a real
find on our hands or not.

- Mike, what's up, man?

- Hey, Corey.
How are you doing?

- How you doing, buddy?

Good to see you.
- Hey.

- How are you doing?

- So here's a Jimmy
D'Aquisto guitar.

- Yeah, D'Aquisto.

- The guy wants a lot
of money for it, man.

What can you tell me about it?

- Well, and justifiably so.

Anything with Jimmy's name
on it is quite revered.

- He is the preeminent
archtop builder of the latter

half of the 20th century.

So any time his name is in the
conversation, it's a big deal.

- May I?

- Yeah, absolutely.

- Yeah, this is gorgeous.

I mean, all of the finer points
that are the D'Aquisto legacy.

So we have the tapered bridge
foot where it's wider here

on the bass side and
narrower on the treble side,

and then the ebony tailpiece,
the curvilinear tailpiece.

- Now you're
talking mumbo jumbo.

- Right?

You know, this is all the
nitty gritty guitar stuff.

- This gentleman is
telling us the story

that Jimmy may have
partaken in building

the first few of the guitars.

- I wouldn't be
confident in that.

I would say that there was
other people at the custom shop

that were involved in these.

It was made during Jimmy
D'Aquisto's lifetime,

but we also have
another prominent name

in the conversation.

And that's Steven Stern,
a very prominent

Fender master builder.

Steven was brought in to
apprentice under Jimmy.

And there's a greater
chance that this

was more of a collaboration
and not a guitar

that Jimmy made
entirely himself.

- So definitely possible, but
without proper documentation,

you can't be sure is kind
of what you're saying?

- Exactly, and I
think it's important

not to conflate the value
of the guitars that

have Jimmy's name on them.

You know, his brand that he
built, those 300 or so guitars,

those are extremely
highly regarded

and some of the
finest archtops ever

made that can go into five
figures or six figures

very easily.

- And if I didn't
have the documentation

to show that Jimmy's handiwork
was actually in this guitar--

- I mean, I'm gonna stop you
right there because that piece

of paper says this
guitar was made

in the Fender custom shops.

It says nothing
about who made it.

Now, I'm not trying to
take a knock at you,

but when I go to resell this,
I can't go on your word.

- Sure.

- He's asking for 90 grand.

What do you think it's worth?

- Well, if we knew for sure
that Jimmy made this guitar

100% with his hands, I
think you could substantiate

a really big number.

But because we don't
necessarily have that, I think

we're much closer to $10,000.

- OK, I appreciate it, Mike.
- Yeah.

- Take it easy.

assessment of the guitar?

He's valuing it at
around 10 grand.

- I think I'll take
it home with me

and procure some more
documentation, if you will.

Usually, you help
me buy things.

Now I'm buying things off you.

- I do have a shop, and
sometimes I have things

that I think fit your vibe.

- Ice cream's
always been my vibe.

[laughs] We have, "Ben and
Jerry's hot fudge is a rich

"homemade blend of chocolate,
liqueurs, imported cocoa,

"simmered for hours in order
to produce this incomparable

chocolate lover's delight."

- This is an original sign
from the first franchised

Ben and Jerry's store.

- Oh, wow.

This is cool.

But it does look 1960s vibe.

- That was always their brand.

From the very beginning, they
had that sort of hippy vibe

to them.

Lyn Severance was their
first graphic designer.

She ended up becoming
their creative director.

And she made the
entire look that Ben

and Jerry's is now famous for.

This is an original
painted sign that Lyn

Severance did in 1981.

This sort of chunk font,
I mean, you recognize it now.

They still use it
on all of their branding.

- So this is from
their original store?

- This is from the
first franchise store.

They had a smaller
one before this,

but this is when
they were expanding.

It was like their first big
step into becoming the mammoth.

- So this was like
the second store.

- Essentially.

- Where did you get this?

- So you know my partner and I
are always looking for things.

And we came across
this from someone

that we know is tied into the
food scene in the Northeast.

And we thought, oh,
we have to have this.

And the thing is, we don't
handle original art like this.

So I got it, and I
thought, you know what?

Rick probably has a
better audience for this.

Rick actually
handles original art.

- OK, how much you want for it?

- $2,400.

- It's art.

Art sits around
for a long time.

We gotta find that
perfect person.

And I gotta frame it,
make it look all pretty

and everything like that.

$1,800?

- I can't go that low.

How about $2,200?

- I'll make this easy.

I'll give you two grand.

It's gonna sit for a while.
It's hard.

I mean, it might
sell in a week.

It might sell in two years.

- I'll do $2,000.
You're framing it.

- All right, $2,000.

We got a deal.

I don't have ice cream at
my bar, but I have liqueurs.

- OK, I guess
that's an OK second.

- All right, let's
go have a drink.

- Look, according to
my doctor, ice cream

isn't the best for
the old blood sugar,

but hey, what does he know?

So who do we have to thank
for this delicious treat?

Because I seriously want
to go back in time and hug

this person.

[chuckles]

As it turns out,
it's a lot of folks.

Apparently, back in
the first century AD,

Roman Emperor
Nero Claudius Caesar

demanded he be fed snow
drizzled with fruit juice.

But it wasn't until
the 17th century that

the type of ice cream
that we all scream

for really became a thing.

In 1692, Antonio
Latini from Naples

published a recipe for
a milk-based sorbet,

which a lot of food
historians call

the first ice cream recipe.

And George Washington was

apparently
a big ice cream fan.

The guy was so enthralled
that in the summer of 1790,

he spent $200 on ice cream.

That'd be a whopping
$20,000 today.

Talk about a sweet tooth.

Sadly, it took hours
of serious

work to make a single batch.

But thankfully, in 1843,
a housewife-turned inventor

named Nancy M. Johnson
patented an ice cream maker

that turbocharged the process.

Ice cream was now
for everybody.

Average folks
worldwide rejoiced.

Today, it's sundaes,
milkshakes, soft serve,

liquid nitrogen.

The average
American eats roughly

20 pounds of ice cream a year.

That goes double if you live
here in the Nevada desert.

You try living in our
heat without this treat

in your freezer.

Mm.

first Formula 1 race

in Vegas at Caesars Palace?

- Yes.

- The Caesars Palace Grand
Prix ran from 1981 to 1984,

and it's not like today.

We just recently had the F1
reappear back in Las Vegas.

And it basically shut
the city down for months.

One of the cool things I like
about this is this one was

$50, the blue one was 75,
all the way up into what

I'm assuming is gold.

$250 in 1981?

I imagine that seat today would
probably be several thousand.

- Add two zeros to
all those numbers.

[engine humming]

I am here today to
sell original F1

tickets from the first F1 race
at Caesars Palace in 1981.

They've literally been in
a safe box now since '81.

I'd love to get $400
for the tickets today.

That's kind of my aim.

- This is pretty cool, man.

Yeah, F1 actually came
to Las Vegas in 1981.

They build slightly
over a two-mile track

inside of the Caesars
Palace parking lot.

And I think it had something
like 14 turns or something

like that.

It didn't work out
so good, though.

- No.

- Actually, it had such low
attendance that they decided

to scrap it and move on.

And over the years,
F1 racing has

slowly been picking up steam.

And today, it's actually
a pretty popular sport.

So where did you get these?

- Those were given to
me by my old roommate.

He was an executive at Caesars.

- And let me guess.

Now that the F1 is
popular, you're seeing

some dollar values in them.

- There it is.

- They attract an elite
crowd with lots of money.

They're in great condition
and could easily be framed

up together or individually.

OK, do you know how much
you're looking to get?

- I've seen stubs, and
people are asking for $50.

So I figure a full ticket
would be worth $100 times 4--

$400 for the set.

- OK, um, what do
you think about $275?

- I think I'd love to stick
as close to $400 as possible.

- Would you take $350?

I really think that's
as high as I can go.

- I think it's fair.

- All right, I
think we got a deal.

- Awesome.

- All right, well, you
can keep these here.

And you can race on
over to the counter,

and they will get you paid.

Taylor Dayne is celebrating

35 years of her career.

So she's putting some of
her iconic wardrobe pieces

up for auction.

She gave me a call to give
me the opportunity to take

a look at what she has.

And hopefully I get first dibs
before the auction goes live.

- I'm a big fan.
- Oh, my goodness.

I'm such a fan.

- I'm doing great.

- Oh!
- And this is it, right?

- Well, these are
some of the items

that I am now currently
auctioning off

for my 35-year anniversary.

- It was 35 years ago,
but we are both 29, right?

- That's right!

- This is my
35-year anniversary

of the release of my first
album, "Tell It To My Heart."

So I'm giving him
first dibs on some

of the items here of my
classic, classic wardrobe

and staging and video.

They were special
pieces for me,

and they've stood
the test of time.

- I'm kind of impressed.

- They're beautiful pieces.

They were custom made for me,
and that is the OG of OGs.

- So that one right there
is from the video, correct?

- That's the "Tell It
To My Heart" skirt.

Yes, it is.

- "Tell It To My
Heart had," like,

multiple, multiple Grammy
nominations and awards

and stuff like that?

- Yes.

- What, it was 1980--

- '88.

You know what was amazing?

Within six months, I was
opening up for Michael

Jackson on the Bad tour.

It was enormous for me, and of
course, it started everything.

That song was just so iconic.

- And this one right here?

- This particular piece is
the "Tell It To My Heart" bra

that I then had custom made
for when I went on tour.

- OK, and this one right here?

- This top was created for
the "Can't Fight Fate" tour,

and then this item, that was
custom made for the "Every

Beat of My Heart" video.

She's held up, honey.

- Yeah, I don't think
it would fit me, though.

[laughter]

OK, so how much
you want for it?

- Oh, God, no, no.

You tell me,
and then I'll tell you.

- Well, they're from
you, so I don't need

someone to authenticate them.

So I'll tell you what,
I'll give you five grand.

- You're out of your mind.

For what?

- For the table.

So I take this right here, OK?

I got $3,000 worth
of framing here.

I put those on the walls
and everything like that.

So I'll probably, in the end,
get like $15,000 for it, but I

don't make that much money.

- For each piece
or all together?

on just the skirt?

- Um, $25,000.

- So how about one of the tops?

- Thinking $2,000.

- I've got a couple of
pretty cool artifacts

I'd like you take a look at.

So this is a stone axe
from Papua New Guinea.

This is a stone
currency from the island

of New Britain, which is also
part of Papua New Guinea.

- Oh, wow.

- I have a currency
stone and a stone axe

from Papua New Guinea.

My family and I had moved from
a large home into a tiny house.

And we just don't have
the room there to display

these items any longer.

For the currency stone, I'm
looking to get about $3,000.

For the tribal axe
would be about 1,000.

So a total of about $4,000.

- This is pretty interesting.

Papua New Guinea, very
isolated part of the world,

especially 100 years ago.

I think it was up
until like the 1970s

when they started
to try to become

a little bit more modern.

But as far as I
know, they still

have some very isolated tribes
that don't really have contact

with the outside world.

- Absolutely, yeah.

- This seems like
tools that they would

have used in Papua New Guinea.

It has a few chips on the
blade, like it was used,

but I'm not really
seeing any wear and tear.

And then as far as this
goes, I have no idea.

I have heard in
Papua New Guinea,

they have what's called
a kina I think is what--

- Kina.

- The kina is their
actual currency.

But I do know they had some
other currencies that you could

kind of trade in for kina,
but you could also

use these for other things.

Not too familiar
with this stuff,

but so where did
you get these items?

- My family and I were
missionaries in Papua New

Guinea, specifically on the
island of New Britain, which

belongs to Papua New Guinea.

And so while we were there,
I built a relationship

with the chief, and he gave me
the currency stone as a gift.

And then the axe my father left
to me after he passed away.

- This is some
really cool stuff.

Do you have a price in mind?

- Yeah, I'm thinking
about $3,000 on this

and about $1,000 on this.

- OK.

I would like to
have someone come in

and take a look at these.

I'm gonna go call my
expert, Bob Dodge,

see what he has to say.

- Sure.

- And I think a piece
of stone currency

falls right into
his wheelhouse.

- I have a customer
in this shop

with a tribal axe and stone
currency from Papua New Guinea.

They do look like
genuine artifacts,

but I do have
a few reservations.

So I have Bob Dodge
coming in to take a look

and let me know if my intuition
is as sharp as I think it is.

- I just saw them.

Where do we start?

- I know how much
you like money,

so I guess we'll start
with the currency stone.

- Don't we all?

- Yes, we do.

- So, currency.

In this region, these
are called a mok mok.

- A mok mok?
- Mok mok.

In some of these regions,
the stone currency can

be 8 feet tall, weighing tons.

This one is a portable example.

You could, I suppose,
carry it around.

Typical currency of the region.

Not seeing a whole
lot of patina,

so I don't think it's that
old, but it's very cool.

Shall we go to this guy?

- Yes, we shall.

- An adze.

It looks like an axe.

We actually call it an adze.

So a woodworking
tool, you would

use this to hollow out
trees for canoes, for masks,

for whatever.

I see there is a little
bit of use on the blade,

but I'm not seeing usage
patina on the handle.

Collectors like things
that are tribally used.

And so it's made correctly, but
it was never used by the tribe.

The fact that it has not been
used diminishes its value.

- What's your overall
thought on this stuff

as far as authenticity,
collectability, and value?

- There are a lot
of adzes out there.

You can get them for $300.

This guy, a little more rare.

I've sold big examples into
the $5,000 to $10,000 range.

One this size, I think that
would sell for about $600.

- OK.

You know, Bob, I always need
your opinion on this stuff,

because you do know what
you're talking about,

unlike one of us.

- I always tried
to bail you out.

Porter Wagoner estate sale.

award, in honor of Dolly

because she always gives back,
I'm also going to give back.

So I'm going to donate that
money to a nonprofit charity.

Wagoner and Dolly

Parton and the
Porter Wagoner Show,

and he was kind of in charge.

I mean, he was Dolly's boss.

You know, they were never
married or anything,

but they kind of had
that whole, like, husband

and wife kind of gimmick.

You know, that wholesome late
'60s, early '70s, June Carter,

Johnny Cash kind of
vibe going on, even

though they weren't together.

And I mean, he really kind
of did discover a star.

iconic country music singers

Porter had a TV
show in Nashville

in the '60s and early '70s.

And Dolly was on
it about six years.

They were really a thick pair.

And I think they had something
like 21 charted duet singles.

look at the reward for me?

There's a few
things that I just

kind of have a problem with.

It doesn't look like
something you would

present as a music award.

Also they spelled
her name wrong.

- Ha-ha!

They are like this.

I mean, they look
like they're just made

up down at the trophy company.

There were a lot of
award shows at this time.

In Nashville, they
had the Country Music

Academy and the Academy
of Country Music,

both having award shows.

The Truck Drivers
Association had an award show

for country music,
along with the local music

newspaper, Music City News.

And you've got a
hierarchy of awards.

And this is the
cheapest of the awards.

It's not to say that this
wasn't respected or important.

This went for quite
a number of years.

Some of these people, like
the Loretta Lynn Museum,

they have dozens of
these, and they're

not worth a huge amount.

you say it's worth?

- So I have seen these
sell for as little as $50

for people you don't
remember the names.

Because this is Porter Wagoner,
he would be worth about $400

on this.

But because it's
got Dolly on it

as well, spelt right or spelt
wrong, it's a $600 piece.

have been collecting

it for over 60 years.

So there's a huge
collector base out there.

And this is a limited
edition thing,

and they're not

the history of ears,

particularly mouse ears.

In 1955, the Mickey
Mouse Club premiered.

All the little kids who
were in that show wore ears.

Disney does merchandise
really well.

So there was an
immediately, why

don't we sell ears
that the Mickey

Mouse Club people are wearing?

Step forward to about
15, 20 years ago,

and they suddenly decided that
themed ears were a big thing.

Rainbow flags, 4th
of July, Christmas.

So they started
creating specific ears,

and they were
selling out of them.

In 2019, they did a series
using various designers.

The biggest ones
were Heidi Klum's.

- So he's saying
limited to 500.

Does that sound like a
number that Disney would do?

- That sounds like a number
that Disney would do, yeah.

There are people
whose whole house,

wall is filled with ears now.

So they are very collectible.

They look very blingy.

Can I take a look at
them real quickly?

Is that OK?
- Yes, of course.

What's nice is these
still have the tag.

You know, a lot of
people would cut this

off to be able to wear them.

Crystals are all in there.

think they're worth?

- I've seen a
