(suspenseful rock music)
Stop, look out!
Get back there.
(tense music)
- This is where I leave you.
- [Diana] What about us?
- I told you I can't do any more for you now.
- You'd leave us behind, eh?
- I told you it'd be best for us to split up out here.

You could have creased your teeth.
- Where are you from?
- [Betty] From where I'd like to send
a little smart-ass like you.
- [Monica] Cool it, Betty.
- But I still get a strong impression
of having seen you quite recently.
- Shut your hole, cunt.
- Stop that, or I'll knock your teeth out.
- [Man On Radio] Four federal prisoners
from Porto Bello Penitentary.
Their names are Monica Hadler, 25, student of sociology,
but engaged in underground activity since 1975
and thought by the police to be the leader
of the northeastern gang of terrorists.
Betty Osala, age 25, serving a 15-year sentence
for robbery with violence,

But we'd like to get to our tournament.
It's very important for us, miss.
- [Man On Radio] How the prisoners escaped,
but the authorities are confident
they must still be in the area.
- I think maybe you'd better get him to a hospital.
- They'll have the roads blocked now.
Our best bet is to stay out of sight for long enough
so that the police think that we're really gone.
- And the girls, what do we do about them?
- You can leave us right here.
Everybody will promise not to say anything.
- That'd be lovely, but you must be pretty dumb
if you expect us to trust you.
No, no, dear.
For now, nobody leaves the bus, right Monica?
- That's a minor point.

- [Judge] Just a minute, I'll be right there.
Ah, Terry, it's you.
I'm afraid Erin's not here.
She's staying with her mother for a few days.
Didn't you know?
I thought she told everybody.
What can I do for you and this young lady?
- [Monica] You'll do what I tell you to do.
- Huh, I must apologize
for the informality of my clothing.
- You can keep the witty remarks
for your fans in your courtroom, Your Honor.
- [Monica] Go and bring the others inside
and hide the bus behind the house.
- Suppose you go.
- [Monica] Don't argue, that was an order!
- [Diana] You're gonna be sorry for this.
- [Monica] How many rooms are there in this house?
- A dozen or so,

- [Woman] Do you have to treat us like this?
- Just behave yourselves.

- It's awfully cold in here.
- You think so?

- You stupid bitch!
They wouldn't have brought us here
if you had kept quiet!
- [Terry] Oh, no, don't club me.
You're hysterical!
- [Doreen] Keep quiet, it's all your fault!
(women scuffling)
- [Wilfred] Stop it!
Stop that!
Are you crazy?
Cut it out.
- [Doreen] I'll kill her, I'll kill her!
- It isn't anyone's fault,
and we'd better not argue with each other.
- She thinks it's just a game.
She wants to help that communist!
She's an-- - No, I didn't.
- [Marco] Cool it, Terry, and you too, Doreen.
I want you to use your head before you say these things.
Let's try to get organized.
(Doreen crying)
Anna, give me a hand, let's get this bed down.
- [Anna] Sure.
- Get outta the way, Ed.
- [Woman] We really will have to do
something about the cold.
(women sobbing)
(quiet music)
(wood pounding)
- [Betty] What's all that racket?
What do you want?
- I have to speak to Monica Hadler.
- [Betty] Hmm.
- Get a load of this pop gun I just found.
- Are there any more guns here?
- No.
- What is it?
- We came up to get some blankets.
The cellar is freezing and wet.
- You poor things,
couldn't I fix you a nice pot of tea?
- Coffee would be preferable.
- Button up.
- [Erica] Your Honor.
- [Monica] You take her upstairs and look for some blankets.
Listen, send up that girl who took the first aid course.
- [Betty] Okay.
- [Pierre] Monica, help me.
Monica. - Hello?
Yeah, it's me.
It all went wrong.
There was nothing else I could do.
(Pierre groaning)
We're keeping out of sight at a house in the country.
You'll have to get us out of here by tomorrow.
Come on, somebody will have to give us a hand.
I have to get Pierre to a doctor, he's been shot.
Okay, I'll call you back.
- What have your pals have to say?
- [Monica] They're organizing something.
It takes time!
- How long?
- I don't know.
If you're so impatient, then you can pull out.
- [Wilfred] I should've thought of this.
- Beat you too it, never mind.
Any way, I wanted to see if there's any chance of escaping.
We can't just sit around, getting depressed
and arguing with each other.
We've really got to try to get out of here.
- I'm sure you're right.
We have to be careful.
They're not kidding, those guns are real.
- I'd like to smash that suck-up bitch right in the face!
- [Erica] Why don't ya', I'll help ya'.
- Because she's the only one who has any friends
who can help us.
(glass breaking)
- For my money, she's poison, that one.
She's too important.
The police will do everything to track her down.
- [Erica] Ooh, look at all the nice things
the judge's wife's got.
Let's mash everything, let's help ourselves.
- [Betty] Hey, look at those clothes!
- Oh, let me see (laughs).
Come on, move over.
- [Betty] Don't shove!
There's plenty for everybody.
(telephone ringing)
- [Monica] Answer it, but don't try anything.
- Hello?
Oh, hi, Rupert.
No, I haven't finished reading it yet.
No, not today, I'm busy.
Don't go ahead with anything.
Say the pretrial material is confidential.
The confession can be denied, as you know.
Blame it on brutal police methods.
And as for the press, you'll have to say
you know nothing about it,
no comment of any nature.
Those names are too important to be leaked to the public.
Now Rupert, I'm very busy, absolute priority,
so postpone the other case.
I'll be in touch tomorrow,
if this is over.
- How perfectly cozy.
Don't tell the public the truth.
- I have to be sure of the facts.
Justice must take its course.
- You'd make up your minds a lot faster
about busting one of my kind.
You bourgeoise bastards better realize
your time is running out.
- [Claudine] Excuse me.
- What do you want?
- [Claudine] He needs antibiotics.
He's burning up with fever because of the infection.
If we don't stop it soon, it'll be too late.
- [Pierre] I'll get better.
I won't be a nuisance, I promise.
- Pierre, don't worry, and don't talk,
just try to rest.
Relax, Pierre, I'll get you the antibiotics.
- You can drop the gun.
- I don't think you'll be able to shoot me.
- You'd be surprised, young lady.
(gun clicks)
- [Monica] I didn't mean it quite the way you think.
- I bow to your remarkable foresight.
- [Monica] Yes, I really think you should.
(Judge groans)
- [Diana] Hey, Monica, look what we found.
- [Monica] You look like a couple of hookers.
- What happened,
and what is His Honor, the judge, doing on his knees?
I'll pick you up, baby, what's wrong?
You outta breath?
Stand up!
- No, don't take him away.
I need him.
- Need him, what does that mean?
I hope you're not falling in love.
- Pierre needs to have antibiotics
and the judge will take me out to buy 'em.
- You're out of your mind,
with all the police there are around.
- The judge is respectable.
If he's in the car, I'll have no trouble passing roadblocks.
- You only think about your brother and nothing else.
And if you take this risk, maybe we'll have to pay for it.
- Yeah?
Well, that'll be tough titty.
(quiet slapping)
- Feel better now?
- Um-hm, yeah, thanks,
except that now I'm starting to feel hungry.
- I think a situation like this is a real turn on.
(pleasant music)
- At the end of the avenue,
turn right beside that white car.
You know, you look quite smart in those clothes.
You should always dress that way.
It might help you recruit more revolutionaries.
- I'm not interested in your middle-class bullshit.
- Oh, of course not.
Otherwise, why should you have renounced your rich parents,
your career as a sociologist, and your class privileges?
You must appear to be consistent with the ideals
you've chosen to follow.
It's a pity that we should have met
in such unfortunate circumstances.
- [Monica] Be careful what you say.
- [Judge] There won't be any problem.
The Inspector is a friend of mine.
But let's add a realistic touch to this scene.
- Good morning, may I see your papers?
Oh, it's you, Your Honor.
I'm sorry, I recognized the car,
but since I didn't see you driving it, I thought--
- Uh, what's going on?
- A manhunt, or should I say a woman hunt.
Four persons escaped from the women's prison
and they've already killed two of my men.
And to make it worse, their leader is a terrorist
who wouldn't hesitate to provoke a massacre.
Anyway, Your Honor, sorry to have bothered you.
You can go ahead now, sorry, ma'am.
See you around, sir.
Come on.
- You can take that goddamned hand of yours
and stick it up your wife's butthole.
- It's a thought.
You terrorists certainly use very colorful expressions,
except in court, of course.
- I'll kill you if you don't keep your friggin' mouth shut.
(pleasant music)
(slow homey music)
(slow jazz music)
(Erica scatting)
(whistling)
- Come over here, I said.
I'm going to teach you to play something besides tennis.
- [Pharmacist] There you are, Judge.
- [Judge] What do I owe you?
- 17.50.
Do you have anything smaller?
- No, I'm afraid not.
(cash register rings)
- I'm sorry, Judge, but I don't have enough change.
You can pay me some other time.
Don't worry about it.
- Let's go, come on.
- Thanks, good day.
(footsteps approaching)
- [Diana] Don't be afraid.
When I was your age, I'd already done it
with all the boys on the block.
- [Claudine] No, please.
- And I think that's why I got tired of men.
- [Claudine] Oh, please don't.
No, no, no, no.
(Erica singing)
- Marco, Anna!
- [Marco] What is it?
- [Doreen] Look at this.
- [Anna] It's just a closet.
- [Doreen] But look through here.
- [Marco] You're right, there's a hallway on the other side.
- [Anna] Break it down, Marco.
- Wait until I see how it's fastened.
- [Woman] Come on, Marco, what are you waiting for?
(crashing)
- [Anna] Look, there are other rooms.
- [Doreen] Keep your voice down, silly.
- [Marco] You all wait here,
there's no point in taking any chances.
- [Anna] I'm coming with you.

playing the grand ladies again?
And what did you think you were up to?

Who's idea was it to run away?
Who thought of it?
I want to know.
- It was her idea to try to escape.
- [Wilfred] Terry!
- Is she telling the truth?
(woman sobbing)
- Yes.
- I'll find out.
Come here.
(woman sobbing)
Give me that gun!
(Anna grunts)
Take this.
You said we had the same political ideas.
We'll soon see.
Shoot her.
- Me, but I?
- Shoot her, I said.
She tried to escape, so she pays.
Go on, what are you waiting for?
Politics isn't just talk, you know.
- No, no.
No, no, stop it!
(woman groaning)
- I can't, I can't!
(slapping)
I can't, I could never do it (sobs).
- Go find her something clean to put on.
- [Terry] (Sobbing) forgive me.
- [Monica] Come on, Judge.
(Terry sobbing)
- You little bitch!
I oughta--
- Leave her alone.
- You make me sick.
Come on.
(door opening)
Get in there!
There's something to wear.
Put it on!
It's on the house.
(door locks)
(quiet jazz music)
- I brought you something to eat.
You're hungry, aren't you (giggles).
(quiet jazz music)
Good, isn't it?
You like it?
Have some more (giggles).
What a good little baby.
You know, we're gonna make love again afterwards, hm?
(Erica laughing)
(sobbing)
(water running)
(quiet music)
- [Erica] Come on, you're all going for a pits, move along!
Hurry up!
(cell door creaking)
- Come on, the rest of ya'!
Oh, no, we're not taking any chances.
You can do it with the door open.
Don't worry, nobody's gonna watch ya'.
(Betty laughing)
Get back!
- But I'm gonna burst.
- Wait your turn.
(water running)
(quiet music)
- [Anna] Beat it!
(door slamming)
- [Woman] Zipper check?
- [Betty] That'll do, shorty.
(women laughing)
- Silence!
- Get a move on, go on!
(door opening)
- You ready?
Let's go.
Uh-uh, baby, I'll take those.
(footsteps approaching)
- [Judge] What a surprise?
- What is it?
- A most interesting sight.
I thought it would be, I'm glad I didn't miss it.
- Bastard!
What do you want?
- I'm in pressing need of physiological relief.
You revolutionaries worry over such trifles, do you now?
- (Laughs) he has to piss, that's all (laughing).
- Help yourself, go right ahead now.
- Thank you.
- [Diana] Hold it.
- I said go right ahead now.
Where you're standing.
- Don't you understand?
Piss here and keep your hands in the air.
Good for you.
Looks like you wet your pants, huh?
Lock the Judge away in his study,
in his secret hideout (laughs).
It'll soon stink like a sewer.
Get going!
(footsteps retreating)
(door opening)
- [Erica] In you go, and no complaints.
You can play with your souvenirs (laughs).
(door locking)
(door handle jiggling)
(somber music)
- [Judge] Ugh!
(Judge groaning)
(quiet music)
(match striking)
(quiet music)
- [Man On TV] Naturally, these terrorists always strike
when the political situation is extremely delicate
and the state is in no position to take drastic measures.
But even if the forces of law and order
and the secret service reveal their incapacity
to defend the citizens,
this is no justification for proceeding
to complete anarchy.
- [Betty] You're not scared, are you?
- [Wilfred] No, no.
- What's your name, shorty?
- Wilfred, Wilfred Piccolo.
- Oh, that's nice, Willy.
You like dancing, Willy?
- Well, no, not very much, really.
- You don't, why not?
I love it.
I've wanted to have an evening like this for years.
You ever been in jail?
- Not yet, I mean, no, I haven't.
- It isn't too bad, apart from the food.
That's disgusting and there's never enough of it.
There're no men to dance with,
just a lot of sluts.
And never any whiskey or chocolate.
(slow romantic music)
- You don't need to be afraid.
Tomorrow, we'll be leaving.
- Try to keep still.
Any movement might make your wound reopen,
and you've been losing a lot of blood, too.
- I'm so thirsty.
- [Claudine] Here, drink this,
drink it slowly.
Now try to get some rest.
(Pierre sighs)
(quiet romantic music)
- [Marco] My wrists are hurting.
- You tired?
Then sit down.
Here's a cookie for you,
eat it, go on, eat it all up (laughs).
You don't like a lot of other people around, do you?
I know just what you want to do (laughs).
You never can get enough, huh (laughs).
- [Betty] And I used bath salts, too,
can't you smell the perfume?
Am I hugging you too tight?
- No, of course not.
- [Betty] Then why don't you squeeze me a little, huh?
(quiet romantic music)
(rotary phone dialing)
(busy signal buzzing)
(cash register rings)
- [Man On Radio] New evidence tomorrow to make plans
for the coming session of Parliament.
(drawer shutting)
Still no further news of the four prisoners
who escaped from the Porto Bello Prison.
The police have been checking a number of calls
from people claiming to have seen them
and a careful search is being made of the area
where the French car in which they made their getaway
was found abandoned.
A deserted farmhouse, outfitted as a hideout,
with supplies of food and clothing was discovered,
but there was no sign of the escapees
nor any indication that they had been there.

(muffled talking)
Shut up!
(suspenseful music)
(scuffling)
(screaming)
There's nothing to make a fuss about.
I'm not going to hurt you.
- [Claudine] No,
no, no.
No, no, please stop.
No, please don't, please stop.
No, let me go.
(Pierre groaning)
- [Diana] Stop struggling, damn you!
- [Claudine] No, let go of me (screams).
No, please, please stop (screams).
Please, please let me go.
- Don't be an idiot.
You'll love every minute of it.
They're all like you at the beginning.
- No, no, I don't want to do it,
no, no,
no, no! - Hold still, will you.
(woman gasping)
Next time, you'll come to me begging for it.
(sexy jazz music)
(woman sobbing)
- [Claudine] No, no (sobs).
Don't, don't.
(woman moaning)
(suspenseful buzzing)
No, no.
- Get out of here!
Leave us alone!
- You let her go!
- Go away, I tell you.
She wants me, get out of here!
I'll show you...
(Pierre groaning)
No, please, you'll kill him, no!
Oh, stop.
- [Diana] Get out of this, you little slut.
Don't interfere.
Get away!
- [Pierre] Claudine!
- [Diana] I'll teach you to poke your nose
into other people's business!
- [Claudine] He'll bleed to death!
- [Diana] You and that butch sister of yours!
Will you get the hell out of the way?
You're the one who caused all the trouble
in the first place
(Pierre groaning)
Or we wouldn't be here.
- [Claudine] You're gonna kill him (sobs).
(door opening)
- [Monica] That's enough, stop it!
- [Betty] What the hell's going on here?
- [Claudine] She's trying to kill him!
- [Monica] Let go or I'll kill you.
Let go, I said!
- Let me go, don't you dare touch me.
- [Monica] I don't want to touch you
or anyone you touch.
You're disgusting!
I'm fed up with you.
We should have left you behind.
- [Betty] What's all this?
Is everybody going out of their minds in this joint?
- That's enough out of you.
Go call Erica!
Hurry up!
Pierre.
- [Claudine] He's fainted.
- If Pierre doesn't pull through,
you'll get the next bullet.
- [Claudine] Pierre, Pierre.
(Pierre groans)
- [Erica] You just can't get enough, can you (laughs).
(Erica moaning)
What am I gonna do with you, hm?
(Erica moaning)
- [Betty] Erica!
Erica!
Erica!
Where the hell have you gone to, you stupid whoring broad?
- Here I am, you dumb cow.
- [Betty] Why don't you answer when I call?
Are you deaf, too?
- No, and don't shout, it's not necessary.
- I was shouting because this place is turning
into a whorehouse and I'm sick of the whole damn thing!
(rifle firing)
- [Inspector] Hold your fire, hold your fire.
Monica Habler, this is Inspector Zomboni.
The house is surrounded.
You have no way to escape.
You must give yourselves up.
(guns firing)
Send out the judge and the girls
and come out with your hands free.
- What's that shouting? - It's the police,
we're saved. - Hold your fire
or you will make things worse.
You have no choice.
Monica Habler, - They found us.
- I'm talking to you - This is our chance
of getting out. - Because I know
you can persuade the others--
- We have to let them know we're here,
we have to shout. - Reasonable.
(women shouting)
- The house is surrounded. - We're in the cellar.
(gun firing)
- [Inspector] My men are guarding all the exits.
(women shouting)
Don't do anything foolish.
Do not fire!
Give yourselves up.
(women shouting)
(footsteps approaching)
- [Inspector] I'll give you five minutes
to free your hostages and come out with your arms raised.
(metal clanking)
(women shouting)
- Go down and tell the little snots to shut up!
- How did they ever manage to find us?
(suspenseful music)
(rifle firing)
(suspenseful music)
- [Betty] Get away from that window!
Lie down, all of you!
You're not getting away that easy.
Those bastards out there can't help you, understand?
(suspenseful music)
- [Erica] Marco!
(door opening)
Marco, where are you?
(tense music)
(gun firing)
(thudding)
Marco, darling,
no, oh, no (sobs).
Why?
(sobbing)
- [Betty] All right, let's get back downstairs
before we start this thing.
(door knob jiggling)
(rifle cocking)
(window opening)
- What do they want?
What are they waiting for?
- They're waiting for us to surrender.
They're worried about the hostages.
- [Betty] They're not getting me back inside.
- Me neither. (pistol firing)
(window shutting)
(window opening)
(rifle firing) (glass breaking)
(rifle firing)
- [Inspector] You still have three minutes.
The house is completely surrounded.
There is no way you can escape.
You have no choice.
Monica Habler, you at least must understand this.
I repeat-- - Why Monica all the time?
- [Diana] Maybe he's her boyfriend.
- [Inspector] Unarmed with your hands up.
- They're already giving orders.
- [Inspector] Monica Habler, do you hear me?
Give yourselves up.
You still have two minutes.
Give yourselves up.
There is nothing you can do. - How can we escape?
- There isn't a hope.
We might as well realize it and give ourselves up.
- Sure, you don't give a shit.
With your pals helping you, you can escape again,
but there's no commie underground gonna help us.
Betty, how many years have you still got?
- I could never add it up right,
but I know it's a hell of a long time.
- Well you won't have to add it up now,
because those dead cops mean a life stretch
and no way out of it.
And that goes for you, too.
(Erica crying)
When we get out, it'll be in coffins.
(Erica sobbing)
So us, we got nothing to lose.
- Life imprisonment isn't hopeless.
There's bound to be plenty of chances to get away.
- Maybe for you, but not for us.
- This is our chance right here.
Those girls downstairs are all from good families,
with mothers and fathers
who are probably sick with worry by now.
So we don't let the girls go,
we threaten to kill them.
- Would you have the nerve to?
- At killing, you got my record beat.
- That was different, it was done for reasons.
- Bull.
- The only choice for us is to surrender.
- No, there's gonna be no surrendering around here.
And I don't like that friggin' inspector.
He's always shouting to you.
We won't have to kill the girls
if the cops do what we ask,
and I got a pretty good idea they will.
- [Diana] So you want to surrender to the cops, huh?
(Monica groaning)
I got a better idea.
(punch landing)
(door opening)
(Monica groaning)
Make yourself comfortable.
She's all yours, Judge.
Now you can show her how tough you are.
And don't be afraid to hand out a lot of punishment.
In fact, I kinda think that's what she really likes.
(Diana laughing)
(door closing and locking)
- What's going on?
What are they going to do?
Why don't you give yourselves up?
- They don't want to.
They're going to use the girls as hostages.
They've decided to kill them
if the police don't let them get away.
- Oh my God.
- There's nothing for you to be afraid of, Judge,
they're only going to murder the girls.
- They're out of their minds.
And you, why didn't you stop them?
- Why do you think they shut me up in here like this?
- You have to prevent it.
You have authority over them.
You're a responsible person,
they're only poor mental cases.
You're the only one who can stop them!
- Let go, you're hurting me, let go!
Keep your filthy hands off me!
(slapping)
- The fact is that you're not only a poor mental case, too,
you're a stupid little slut!
(Monica spitting)
(slapping) (Monica gasping)
And I'm in charge again (grunts).
(Monica grunting)
(Judge shouting)
(scuffling)
(Monica grunting)
(scuffling)
(thudding)
(slow jazz music)
(Monica grunting)
(pounding)
After everything you've done to my house,
I have ample reason to teach you a lesson.
(door opening)
- [Betty] We're bringing out a hostage, don't shoot.
- [Inspector] Did you hear that?
Keep back.
- [Betty] Put 'im down there.
(footsteps approaching)
- [Diana] Back inside, you two.
Come on, what are you waiting for?
- [Betty] Move your ass, Snow White,
if you don't want blood all over your dress.
(door closing)
(window opening)
- This is just to prove we meant everything we said.
You have to provide a car and 20 million in cash.
We'll take three hostages with us
and we'll kill them if you follow us.
You have one hour, just an hour
before we begin shooting the hostages,
the Judge and all the girls,
one every 10 minutes until you've decided to agree.
(window closing)
(shoe dropping)
(sinister music)
(Monica grunting)
(scuffling)
- [Monica] Let go!
(Monica struggling)
- [Judge] Come back!
(Monica grunting)
(Monica panting)
- [Monica] You dirty bastard!
(Monica struggling)
You filthy pig!
- Maybe I am, but I give the orders now, lie still.
(Monica struggling)
(body sliding)
(men running)
(window opening)
- And just you remember, we'll die
before we let you lock us in a cell again.
(window closing)
- Anything would be better than having to go back
and put up with that frigging bitch of a warden.
- Don't even mention her, she's a real jinx.
(Doreen sobbing)
- [Doreen] We'll never get out of this place alive,
I can feel it.
They'll leave us here to die like animals.
- Oh come on, don't think things like that.
Everything's gonna be all right, you'll see.
The police are gonna get us out of here in no time.
Now just try to calm down.
- Listen in there, this is Inspector Zomboni.
I want to talk to--
(rifle firing)
- Talk away, Inspector, I'm all ears.
- I want to speak to Monica Habler.
- Speak to me, I'm Betty Osala.
- [Inspector] I want Monica Habler.
- Why don't you want little ol' me?
(Erica laughing)
- It's 'cause you go in for single shootings.
She never gets less than a few dozen at one go.
- I just might pick off this little asshole,
that oughta raise my score.
- I'm waiting.
- Go fuck yourself, you little shithead.
Either you speak to us or you can start playing target.
- I wanted to tell you it's impossible for us
to consider your request.
I don't have the authority to accept those terms.
- [Betty] What the hell does that mean?
If you think we're gonna change our plans for you--
- Why can't you try to be a little more reasonable?
By behaving like this, you're only making things worse
for yourselves as well as
endangering the lives of your hostages,
a bunch of innocent, young girls.
- And 45 minutes from now,
we'll begin shooting the hostages,
and if you don't believe me,
we can always start right now.
- I need more time than that to get the authorization
to grant you everything you've asked for.
- 3/4 of an hour, not one minute longer.
- [Betty] Me, I'm hungry.
(quiet music)
- What are you staring at?
Huh?
You think I'm disgusting, eh?
Well, to me, you're disgusting,
you and everybody like you.
- [Monica] Oh shut up.
- I've seen how you behave in court, your kind,
flaunting the way you challenge our civilization
and despise it.
You think you're tough, huh?
You think you've humiliated me,
but you're just a stupid slut
being used by forces you don't even know or understand.
But now you're beginning to realize
that you're not any different
from those three poor bitches upstairs.
And where is all your talk
about justice and freedom now, huh?
You can't answer that, can you?
- You look really revolting.
- I'm not trying to look pretty like you.
I'm not searching for a man
or a little girl.
- Listen, lard ass, I have had to put up with you
in that rotten cell for seven friggin' years
because it was a prison,
but here, you'd better learn
to mind how you-- - Diana, Betty, Monica, Erica.
Can you hear me, girls?
- The warden, they brought her here.
- It's impossible.
- That's her voice, baby.
- [Warden] You're in real trouble.
You must be awfully tired by now and you're nervous.
You don't understand the situation you're in.
I want to help you.
I'm your friend.
They asked me to come here because I know you all.
We spent so much time together all those years.
It is if we all belong to the same family.
Betty, Erica, Diana, Monica,
what you've done is terrible,
killing those poor police officers and that hostage,
I never would have expected it.
But what you're doing now, girls,
is more terrible than that,
threatening the life of those innocent kids.
I can hardly believe it.
I know you could never
be so inhuman. - No.
- In the time we spent together,
I got to know you very well.
You know we don't have any secrets from each other.
I understand what a nice thing you think it is
to be free, and I know how you want
to stay that way. - Calm down, calm down.
I'll fix it.
Hey Warden, we want to have a talk with you.
Come on over here.
(Erica groans)
- Okay, whatever you want, girls.
We'll discuss it all calmly
and we'll try to sort out your problem, huh?
- Hold on a second, Warden, stop there.
It ain't according to the rules
to have you come to talk to us.
We always had to go to you, especially Erica.
Remember how you used to send for her?
At any hour of the day or night,
and it didn't matter if she felt like coming or not.
Now Erica wants to speak to you.
- You frigging bull dike! - Look out!
(rifle firing)
(Warden groaning)
(guns firing)
(gun firing) (glass breaking)
- [Erica] We needed to shoot.
- [Inspector] We absolutely cannot accept your terms.
- Erica, you go upstairs, Betty, down to the cellar.
Keep them quiet. - The time we gave you
- to surrender is up.
From now on, we shoot to kill.
(suspenseful music)
- Come and get us out of here, hurry!
(women shouting)
- [Betty] Sit down, shut up.
(women shouting)
(suspenseful music)
- [Man] Stop or I'll shoot!
(gun firing)
(suspenseful music)
- Stop firing, or I'll kill her.
And I'll kill the judge next.
Get back or we'll kill them all.
- [Inspector] Fall back, men, and cease fire.
You there, get back!
- Get this clear, Inspector.
You got half an hour to get us everything we asked for
or there's gonna be a real slaughter.
Get it, Inspector?
- [Inspector] Fall back, turn off those spots.
(women yelling)
- They won't bother us anymore, for the moment.
Right now, those pigs must realize we really mean it.
- [Erica] How can we possibly trust 'em?
- I don't believe we can.
They don't give a shit for those girls.
That inspector wants a promotion.
- Well, if we have to kill those girls,
it won't do 'em any good.
Right now, their families are using all their influence
and public opinion counts for a lot.
- I'm gonna go out of my mind
if those bitches don't stop howling like that.
I'm going crazy, I can't stand any more!
- Well, the kids aren't in any better shape.
Any minute now, they're gonna explode
and then we're gonna have a real problem.
- [Diana] How much whiskey is there left?
- Enough to make us blind drunk.
- And to make the girls drunk?
- There's still two cases,
but who's gonna make 'em drink it?
I'll tell you one thing,
I'm not going back in that cellar alone.
Suppose they try to rush us.
We don't have enough bullets to stop 'em all.
(Monica groaning)
(door opening)
- What is it?
What do you want?
- [Betty] Well, well, so you had a little party, eh?
- My goodness, I never would've thought
you were so passionate (laughs).
Smart old bugger, eh?
Didn't waste a minute.
The love story of a capitalist prick and a communist whore.
- [Betty] Come on, come on, poor little thing.
If you don't mind, Judge, maybe we'll bring her back after.
- [Judge] Why aren't you taking me too?
(door closing and locking)
(whiskey glugging)
- Drink this.
I'm not fooling, drink all of it.
Don't leave any.
(whiskey glugging)
Here, you too.
(whiskey glugging)
- [Betty] That's a girl, Monica,
spread the good cheer.
It's all on us.
Let's go, Erica, come on.
- [Erica] I'm comin'.
- [Monica] Drink up.
(door closing)
- What did they do to you?
- Drink this.
- Look, I'm not afraid.
I'll do anything to help.
Honestly, if you'll let me, trust me.
Don't you understand that?
- Drink it, all of it.
(swallowing)
- This is Inspector Zomboni.
Don't shoot.
I want to talk to you.
Can you hear me?
I want to tell you something important.
Don't shoot. (window opening)
- Go ahead.
- I've received orders to go ahead
and accept your conditions.
The money and the car are on their way already.
My men are all being withdrawn from the area.
- I knew it, public opinion forced them to accept.
They couldn't take the risk.
See, they're all leaving.
- [Anna] Why did you ever get into it?
- [Monica] Into what?
- [Anna] What you're doing, whatever you call it,
a profession, a mission.
- [Monica] Just don't ask me to explain.
I gave up explaining a long time ago.
- [Anna] Naturally, just like Marx.
Enough explaining, it's time to change.
- [Monica] What do you know about Marx?
- [Anna] You think you have a monopoly on everything,
Marx, truth, social justice.
- You have a monopoly on everything else,
power, capital, education, laws,
multinationals and police.
- [Anna] I don't have very much.
Personally, I used to be like you.
I believed it was possible to change things.
- And now you don't believe it?
- No.
- And you accept that lying down,
you don't feel any obligation to struggle against it?
- It's possible to struggle in other ways
than risking my neck and throwing away my youth.
I'm not like you.
I don't believe in violence or playing with weapons.
- We're soldiers, we're not playing with weapons.
We're fighting a war
against the middle classes you represent
who are a cancer on all the Western democracies.
- You must have memorized one of your propaganda sheets,
but I'm afraid talk won't change the world.
Neither will blackmail and murder.
You'll never win.
You let yourself be used like poor idiots.
- The men and women who died in the name of liberty
through the centuries were no more idiotic than you.
- So you say.
I don't want to know about it.
I don't care about the dead.
I believe liberty is for the living.
- I don't know, not unless there's an element of humanity.
It's better to be dead than to live without that.
- Do you mind giving me a drink?
- Yeah I mind.
You've just been throwing it away.
(gate opening)
- You've had enough, come on upstairs.
Give me the bottle.
- What are you going to do with us?
- Right now, I can only think of two things.
One is to smash your face in
and the other is very personal.
- [Man On Radio] In a press conference,
a police spokesman divulged no further information
concerning the four prisoners who escaped
from Port Bello Penitentiary.
According to the head of the Antiterrorist Division,
the fugitives have probably succeeded
in escaping from the immediate area
in spite of the many roadblocks.
In any event, the police have maintained strict silence
concerning the situation for the past few hours.
The reporters in the pressroom at police headquarters
all feel that something is being held back.
Even more mysterious is the case of the missing tennis team.
A whole busload of young girl tennis players
seems to have vanished into thin air.
The police-- - What is all this?
What does it mean?
- Is it important?
- It means they're keeping thing under cover.
The police don't want any interference.
- Public opinion, there's your public opinion.
They don't know screw all.
- Naturally, they've cut it.
- And he made a bargain, that bastard!
- [Diana] They know that nothing will stop us,
so they won't take any chances.
Now tie up that bitch and watch the garden.
I'm going downstairs.
(gate opening)
(women chattering)
- [Woman] No, leave me alone.
- [Wilfred] You can't get away, I'll track you down.
- [Diana] Claudine, Claudine, wake up.
Come on, dear, wake up.
Claudine.
How do you feel?
Let's go for a walk.
On your feet, that's it, come on.
That's a girl, come along, baby.
- [Claudine] Where are we going?
I'm tired.
- [Diana] You can sleep later.
You can sleep all night if you like
and have lots of lovely dreams.
What are you staring at?
- [Claudine] I know where you want to take me.
I don't wanna.
- Of course you want to. - No.
- [Diana] You're just saying that because your shy.
- [Claudine] They made me drink it.
- [Diana] But I know you'll really like it.
- [Claudine] Everything's going round and round.
Please. - Yes, dear.
- When's that car gonna get here?
I wanna get out of this house.
- I'm hungry.
Yeah, whenever I'm frightened, I'm hungry.
First time I ever told anyone.
I remember when, when I was a kid,
I'd get up at night and have a snack in the kitchen,
and I was afraid the nuns would wake up
and I'd be caught.
I was frightened,
but I went on eating in spite of it.
- Shut up!
That's enough!
I'm not interested in your eating habits!
(window opening)
Is there anybody out there?
What are you waiting for?
I know you're out there.
Why are you hiding, you lousy pig.
Inspector, where's the damn car,
you son of a bitch, you!
- [Diana] You see, they're going crazy
because they're beginning to understand,
(Erica yelling)
But I already understand.
With the radio and the phone cut off.
- [Erica] If you don't give us the car,
this isn't a house, it's a prison!
- Where are you? - They'll never let us leave.
- [Erica] Where are you?
- [Diana] But we're not going back to prison, either.
Here, have a sip.
I won't go back to prison.
