[The killer bride]

[Episode 25]

Mr. Gu, you were in danger the day before yesterday

and fell off a cliff.

I arrived too late.

I hope you can forgive me.

Master Mao, you are observant.

I specially arranged this banquet for you

because of that.

Thank you, Master Mao.

What do you mean by that?

For He Yunxing and his wife,

I've done everything I could.

But what did I get in return?

He Yunxing left me behind.

Si Yueyao actually tried to kill me.

Only you, Master Mao,

personally led people to look for me.

Through that incident,

I realized something.

A friend in need is a friend indeed.

Only you, Master Mao,

deserve to be my good friend.

Oh my God!

Mr. Gu, I'm flattered.

Please.

Because of Si Yueyao's identity,

He Yunxing's reputation and career

will be ruined.

But you, Master Mao, are different.

You are His Majesty's trusted subordinate

and are very capable.

All these years, He Yunxing has failed to eliminate Sui Feng.

You've only been here for less than three days,

and you managed to expose Si Yueyao as Sui Feng.

The difference is obvious.

I admire you.

Really.

Mr. Gu,

I'm flattered.

Actually,

it was all thanks to you.

If it weren't for the secret letter you wrote,

I wouldn't have come to Tingcheng.

Now that you've mentioned that,

I'm going to be frank with you.

You and I were both sent by His Majesty to supervise the officials.

We are on the same side.

I hope that after returning to the capital,

you can put in a good word for me in front of His Majesty.

My future promotions and career

depend on you, Master Mao.

Come on.

Mr. Gu, I'm flattered.

You come from a prestigious and noble family.

In the future,

I'll need to rely on Mansion of Marquis of Anguo.

Master Mao, you just sounded too distant.

The key of the border defense map is on you.

I'll make you dead drunk.

Master Mao.

We both are smart guys.

We naturally won't align ourselves with someone like He Yunxing, who has lost power.

Am I right?

Mr. Gu,

you know how to size up the situation at such a young age.

You are

truly insightful.

Actually,

being with you

has made me understand what insight means.

It was digging into me.

Look at this little thing.

Looks like I need to make him drink more.

Mr. Gu, feel free to tell me everything.

Just say whatever you want.

As long as it's within my power,

I'll do my best.

The older, the wiser.

Master Mao, you know me well.

Here's the thing.

Changning and I love each other.

But Changning's marriage alliance is His Majesty's order.

I wonder if you have a good solution.

You came to me

because you want my help.

You're a smart guy.

It's difficult.

People who disobey

His Majesty's orders will be beheaded.

No, no.

Master Mao, I'm not asking you to risk your life.

A little help from the sidelines will do.

After all, your words are of great significance

in His Majesty's heart.

That... won't be easy.

Okay.

I'll just

promise you first.

Master Mao.

Please.

Come on.

Master Mao,

I've already drunk all of it.

You should drink all of it too.

I've drunk enough.

No way.

You must drink all of it.

Come on. Drink.

We're happy today.

Let's have a few more drinks.

Let me refill your cup.

I can't drink more.

You drink more if you can.

Master Mao,

let's continue to drink.

You drink first.

I'll rest for a while.

Then I'll drink by myself.

Master Mao?

Master Mao,

let's continue to drink. Why are you sleeping?

You think you can outsmart me?

Let's see how much longer you can stay smug, old man.

How did it go?

You got it?

Thank you, Mr. Gu.

Mr. Gu, I will

remember your kindness.

But if anything goes wrong,

our entire families will be beheaded.

Don't worry.

If I fail,

I'll take responsibility on my own.

I told you I'd treat you like my brother.

Since we are brothers, it's not necessary to say that.

I'll leave marks along the way.

You can use the map provided by the secret sentry to rule out the areas,

and you'll surely see the marks left by me.

By that time,

we'll cooperate with each other

to capture Sui Feng and his men.

If it's necessary,

the Shisi Government Office will be at your command.

[Commander]

Okay.

One more thing.

There's a box under the bed in my room.

It contains the assets of the He family.

If I can't come back,

help me convert the banknotes, title deeds,

and assets into cash

and give it to General Si

as the military funding.

Are you...

saying your last words?
