[Practice Daughter]

[Adapted from An Yimo's original novel, The Charming Thief Princess]

[Episode 24]

Come on, drink.

Boss, let's drink.

A toast to you, Boss.

Oh, that smells good.

Come on, Boss.

Good wine.

Boss.

She is awake.

She doesn't look like a refugee.

She must be from Shengdong.

Keeping her here might be useful in the future.

Boss, let's drink.

You've flattered me.

But I'm so sick.

I'm afraid you won't want to have me around.

This cunning girl...

Hurry. Hurry to brew me some medicine,

or I will cough myself to death.

This little girl tries to play tricks on me.

She's also brought props.

Boss, it's really medicine.

What medicine, Boss?

[Diagnosis] What?

Have a look. Who can read?

I can.

Leprosy.

Scabies...

Scabies!

Scabies?

It's...

As...

Asthma!

Go away.

I'm not only sick,

but I've also been having a miserable life.

My parents were infected by me

and then died.

No one would talk to me now.

I have no money for medicine.

Please, help me.

Help me!

Please.

Don't leave me alone.

I'm so miserable.

Boss, what do we do?

Of course, we let her go.

What a waste!

A waste?

How about we give her to him as a gift?

Good idea.

Boss, brilliant.

Stop it.

Boss.

I'll deal with you later.

Isn't this rabbit I caught chubby?

It is.

Boss.

I... I didn't rob anyone.

I caught it in the mountains.

You may catch anything,

but not rabbits.

Set it free.

Then...

What to do if the chief of the Heifeng Gang comes?

It's not proper to only offer them potatoes, right?

I don't eat potatoes.

I'm here to drink good wine and eat good meat.

If you want to buy me off with this thing,

that won't work.

What's he doing here?

It must be...

Here's a greeting present for you.

A lady from a rich Shengdong family.

What do I get in return?

One with huge goals

doesn't indulge in eating and drinking.

If you can be less reckless,

you may achieve great things.

Little Master? It is Little Master.

Why do you care if I'll achieve anything?

In the Heifeng Gang, I have achieved many things.

If you can obey me

and do the right things,

I promise you'll have wine and meat every day.

I'll also give you three thousand men.

What do you say?

Three thousand men?

Don't lie to me.

I always keep my word.

It sounds too good to be true, Boss.

We'll do what you ask, Boss.

- We'll count on you from now on. - Thank you.

- Boss. - Boss.

But there's a rule when you work for me.

All looted items must be returned.

The so-called greeting gift

was also robbed from others, right?

Send it back.

Sure.

I know what to do.

Good.

Serve the good wine and meat.

Great.

Good wine and good meat!

Serve the drink.

Go, go. Let's go.

Get more wine.

Okay.

I've come all the way here to find you.

Yet you want to send me back?

Do you have any idea how worried I was about you?

I worry about you when eating.

I worry about you when sleeping.

When a crow flies above me,

I even want to ask it to send you a letter.

You...

Yet you want to send me back.

No.

I'll never send you back.

Boss, are we still sending her back?

Didn't you ask us to send her back?

- Yeah. Are we still sending her back? - Yeah. Are we still sending her back?

- Let's send her back. - Let's send her back.

- Keep her. - Keep her.

Yeah, that's right.

Send her back or not?

What is this?

The weapons they made themselves

for hunting.

What is this?

That's the knockout drops.

Did you draw this yourself?

What is it for?

Are you sure

you want to talk more about the drawings?

You...

Today...

It's time for bed.

You should go get some rest.

Where do you want me to go?

I'm staying here tonight.

Oh no.

Mei Daidai told me to be reserved.

What am I supposed to say now?

Should I go out?

It's not like the Eastern Palace.

There are not many rooms here.

If you don't allow me to sleep here,

I'll have to sleep outside.

Then you sleep in the bed.

I'll sleep on the floor.

How can I bear to allow my Crown Princess

to sleep on the floor?

All right. I won't tease you.

Go to bed.

Little Master.

Little Master.

Are you asleep?

Are you afraid that I can't sleep

or that I've fallen asleep?

I...

Hurry up!

All right.

Do you feel cold?

Yeah.

Are you still cold?

Still cold.

It's not cold now.

If only we could stay like this forever.

Despite living a humble life with simple meals,

with you by my side,

I am happy.

Me too.

As long as you are by my side,

mantou can be

as tasty as a lavish feast.

On my way back,

I saw a lot of displaced people.

They don't even have mantou.

I really can't bear it

and I'm unreconciled.

If we don't stop Xingshi from ruling the country like this,

it'll be destroyed soon.

In my opinion,

it doesn't matter whether we call the country Jixi or Shengdong,

it's important that the people can live a good life.

Do you really think so?

Of course.

If you want to return to the palace,

I'll support you.

I have a great chance,

but I'm not one hundred percent sure I'll win.

In case...

I mean in case...

Are you afraid?

I'm not afraid.

I'm sure you'll win.

It's also okay if it doesn't work.

If so, we'll just go on a trip to the world.

With my intelligence,

I'm sure I can feed both of us.

What you said won't happen.

I won't make you suffer.

I believe you.

You won't make me

or the common people suffer.

[Yong'an Gate]

[Wanted]

[Felon Nangong Yao]

[Danfeng Gate]

Who are you?

Stop.

Who are you?

Nangong Yao.

Attack.

Douzi.

You can't go out.

The Crown Prince doesn't let you go for your good.

Exactly.

No one can guarantee you won't be hurt by weapons when fighting.

Yeah, well, in the battle,

no one can tell who will lose...

Take your words back.

In case...

Touch the wood.

From now on,

don't mention the word "lose" in front of me.

If you have to say it,

well, then use "meow" instead.

Did you hear me?

What?

Meow. All right.

Uhh...

Is that carriage at the door for me?

His Highness commanded

that if he lost...

If he meowed,

just took the box inside

and that carriage in the back.

It's all for you to escape.

We're going to be rich.

Put it down.

Do you have no shame?

My... My hands.

My hands.

Douzi.

Let him go.

I'm going to help Little Master today,

even if I'll die.

Even if both of us will die.

Even if I'll die,

I will die with him.

Anyone of you would like to go with me?

Raise your hand.

Me.

I am timid,

but you can count me in.

Que.

Que?

Que!

Coming.

Stop talking.

Let's fight them.

Guys,

this is the Hall of Supreme Harmony.

I thought it was hard to get in.

But it was so easy.

Come on.

Let's go.

- Boss, good job. - Boss, good job.

Let him go.

I knew something was wrong with Bai Ye.

After that day he went out of the palace to deliver information,

I found out when you'd come to the palace

and what you were going to do.

I knew everything

so I was waiting for you

to come and arrest you.

Let him go.

Xingshi,

I was done with the Crown Prince a long time ago.

Threatening him with me

won't work.

Your Highness,

I destroyed your country and caused you to be exiled before.

Now

I got you surrounded again.

I'm not worth it.

I'm not worth your saving.

Your Highness,

if you put down your weapon now,

it'll only make me feel more guilty.

If it were me pointed by his sword now,

I'm sure you'd do the same thing.

Your Highness.

Get out of the way.

I'm your princess.

Get out of my way.

Step aside.

Step aside.

Step aside.

Walk away.

Step aside.

Stop.

Little Master!

Princess?

What are you doing here?

I am affectionate and righteous.

I'll go wherever you go.

You are the Princess of Shengdong.

I can't believe you mingle with our enemy of Jixi.

I'm only standing on the side of justice.

Wait.

I'm standing on the side of justice and my lover.

Protect His Highness.

Still fighting?

No more fighting.

You go there.

You, there.

You too.

You idiot.

How dare you touch our Crown Princess!

I'll kill you.

If it weren't for the Princess,

I would have killed you by now.

You can argue.

But no more fighting. You hear me?

No more fighting.

Big Head Yu.

Come on, Second Father, catch this.

Listen to me.

Don't you dare fight!

Otherwise, I'll hit you

with my hammer here.

Third Father.

Take this.

Okay.

You are in charge here.

Don't worry.

Why are they fighting again?

How long has it been?

How's it?

Did Little Master get hurt?

Little Master,

why don't you take a break and let me do it for you?

Little Master, be careful.

Surrender now,

I can spare your life.

I should be the one to say that.

Mei.

You're awful.

It's all your fault.

Go get the physicians.

Mei Daidai.

This is your fault.

Go get the physicians.

Go get the physicians!

Mei...

Go.

Please don't die.

Yes.

Physicians!

Just now

you were standing on the side of the Crown Prince.

Now

you gave your life for me.

I'm sorry.

I just understood your heart now.

It's my fault.

How could you leave me behind?

Your Highness, are you all right?

Mei,

you can't die.

I hired the best craftsmen

to fix the Moon Spirit Pearl.

Tonight we have the full moon.

I've decided to give it another try.

I'm not going to let you die.

If one of us has to die,

I would switch my body with yours

and exchange my life with your life.

No, no.

You can't do it.

Did you find the Grand Tutor yet?

I'm warning you,

if this works,

you need to ask him to save me at once.

Or I will haunt you as a ghost.

I'll show up in the Grand Tutor's dreams

to remind him of asking you to recite books.

I see.

Besides,

you can't allow him to suck my blood with a poisonous worm.

Otherwise, I'll...

Did it really work?

Oh no.

How do I tell this to Yao?

Grand Tutor!

Hurry.

I heard there was someone

who was almost dead.

Why did she faint here?

I don't know.

Save the dying one first.

Step aside.

Too bad it was a little off.

It was so close to the heart.

Any closer to the heart and she'd be dead.

Don't worry.

My cutie.

This one is big and strong.

She is dying.

You want to suck her blood with this?

Should I save her or not?

You should.

I'll put it here.

Look, look.

That's enough.

All the blood's sucked out.

Do something about it.

If this keeps up, Miss Mei will die.

Do something about it, Grand Tutor.

This really must stop.

Grand Tutor.

Her hand moved.

Her hand.

It worked.

Now you are full.

Good.

Weren't there two worms?

Why is there only one left?

Right.

Where is the other one?

Then look for it.

Look for it.

Where are you looking?

Are you sure it's on her?

If it's not on her, then it's on her.

Look for it.

Not this one, either.

My worm...

Well, then where can I find my worm?

Neither this one nor that one.

Listen,

if you don't find this one,

the other one will come after you.

Look for it.

I can't believe you still have an appetite.

Knowing the one I love survived,

I'm in a good mood.

Of course, I'll eat more.

Don't you worry about yourself?

I'll die without anything to regret.

For me,

whatever conviction I end up with,

it'll be easier than being the emperor.

You are conscious.

If you could see this through earlier,

you wouldn't have ended up here.

You don't have to worry about me.

Being an emperor, you'll have to shoulder lots of responsibilities.

The one who works hard in the future

will be you.

[Yong'an Gate]

Nangong Yao ascended the throne as the Emperor

and changed the country's name back to Jixi.

Xingshi was exiled to Shengdong

and could never take one step back in Jixi.

[Grand Chancellor's Residence] Father, mother.

I'm now bidding my farewell to you.

Why do you have to give up the glory and wealth

to go to that Xingshi?

He was sent into exile.

What for?

All right.

Stop talking.

Let her go.

At least our sons have jobs in the imperial court now.

Right?

I didn't expect you

to take care of us

when we grow old.

You can go now.

We'll just forget

we ever had a daughter.

Just go.

Shan.

Father,

mother,

Douzi will take care of you for me.

Shan.

I hate to see you leave.

You dress only in soft yarn.

You sleep with white jade pillows.

Even when you have bitter gourd,

you make it too fancy.

I'm afraid, in Shengdong,

you'll not be used to it.

Don't worry.

I'll get used to it.

I forbid you to get used to it.

Come here.

I've got a wagon full of things for you.

Write to me if you run out of it.

These gold and jewels

should be enough for you for a while.

If you run out of things on the road,

just sell them.

They'll get you some money.

All right.

Just take these for now.

If you bring too much, people might rob you.

I heard it from Mrs. Mei that the bitter gourd you have

takes an hour to carve.

I think Shengdong should have enough bitter gourd.

Come here.

Therefore,

I paid him a lump sum for eighty years.

You'll have enough bitter gourds.

And these pens and ink...

I'll practice calligraphy with them.

What calligraphy?

I'm asking you to write to me.

But keep it simple.

Don't use words I don't understand.

All right.

If you don't understand,

I'll draw something for you.

And this horse.

I named it Douzi.

If you get bored or miss me,

just talk to it.

Don't feed it stinky tofu.

This is the most expensive horse in the palace.

It has a delicate stomach.

Then I'm leaving.

Mei Daidai,

you're going to use my body

to live the life you want.

Please be happy.

Mei Daidai,

I'm sure we'll meet again.

Shan is already gone.

But why when I see you,

it's like she's not left yet?

[A year later]

Stay away from the chaos of the world

and live a simple life.

There's no prosperity of the capital here.

But the stars are so bright.

It's been more than a year since I left the palace.

I wonder

how you two are doing.

Take care.

The moon shines on my bed brightly.

So I mistook it for frost on the ground.

I gaze at the moonlight with my head uplifted.

I look down to...

Your Majesty.

Your Majesty.

Your Majesty.

Just rise.

Hoeing in the paddy under the mid-day sun.

Sweat drips to the soil underneath the plant.

- Who knows... - That's enough.

You're holding the books upside down.

Move your hands away.

- We'll keep reading. - We'll keep reading.

You're distracting the Empress Dowager. Be quiet.

It's so beautiful.

Look at that.

Look at that. Look!

So beautiful.

Beautiful.

Very beautiful.

May the country be safe.

May the country be prosperous and the people be safe.

Live a long and healthy life.

Live a rich and safe life.

The End.
