-Professor Ardan?

Professor Ardan? Is that you ?

Professor Ardan?

There were no requests.

You cannot come to this site, it is classified.

I will have to file

a report.

Professor Ardan?

Professor Ardan...

-The proceedings against Miss Nielsen

are based on case law

concerning the supervision of experts.

-Specifically ?

- This is the last investigation that Astrid will do with us.

-No way !

-He's doing this

to get at RaphaГ«lle. It sucks !

-I defended Astrid thoroughly.

-We went to get her, we can't let her down.

For Astrid, it's more than a job.

Astrid knows

there was a report that she thinks was temporary.

We won't tell her anything. OK ?

I'm sure we can catch up. Eh ?

-Can something be done. -Nope.

-Did you talk about it with RaphaГ«lle? -Absolutely not.

You don't have to talk to her about it.

she must believe that it will work out.

I will find the right moment to tell her without hurting her.

-Commander ! -Hello.

- Glad you came. -You asked me to come

because there is a homicide investigation.

-Hi !

Astrid! - Good morning, Captain Perran.

-Nico, go ahead.

-The crime scene

is up there. Fournier is there.

- Has the victim been identified?

- It's Michel Ardan. -Ardan?

The guy who spends his time on talk shows?

- The astrophysicist! He's a great popularizer.

I loved his book "Grain of sand in the Universe".

A great explainer... -Oh there! We're slowing down, Astrid.

Is the death of criminal origin?

- The victim had an assigned office on the 1st floor.

It looked like the room had been searched.

Neither his computer nor his laptop were found.

-The cause of death ?

- Check it out with Dr. Fournier.

He is having a good day.

-The causes are unclear. - You don't know what he died of?

-I have incompatible symptoms. Ventricular fibrillation,

and amazing spinal injuries

and there,

a form of Lichtenberg.

-An electrostatic discharge that causes these forms

of fractals.

Like a fern. -Thank you !

-You're welcome.

You know the cause of death.

These 3 causes converge towards a single diagnosis.

-But no. -Yes.

-Nope. -Make up your mind !

-The weather's nice,

no risk

of storm. Miss Nielsen is right,

all these symptoms converge towards a single explanation...

-He was struck by lightning.

- Without lightning!

-Lightning...

- Without lightning!

-Thunderstruck on a night

with no storm? -Yes.

-It doesn't make sense. - The evidence is there.

Just find the rational explanation.

I will focus

on such phenomena.

-Solitaire ? You solved it.

-I didn't try.

-It's a classic !

-No.

Solitaire is a game without an opponent.

It has been the subject of numerous mathematical studies.

It's a gift. Tetsuo Tanaka

thought it would interest me.

-and.. ?

-I don't know.

It's not a puzzle. -It's a game

without an opponent.

-RaphaГ«lle...

If our collaboration were to be interrupted,

would we would stay

friends ?

-Of course, Astrid.

Our job has nothing to do with our friendship.

It maintains our friendship, it's true, but you are my friend.

My best friend, with or without investigations. OK ?

-I am... your best friend.

With or without investigations.

-Everything will be fine

and your status will not be questioned. It'll be OK.

-Everything will be fine.

-Yes.

You note down the people

who go to the dome? -Yes. It won't teach you anything.

Professor Ardan did not respect the procedures,

he had nothing to do there tonight.

-He was a researcher, they observe the stars there.

- But it is in a place

way too bright. This dome and the window it contains

are no longer a place of research, except to fly under the radar.

-What ? -Research is collective.

-Ardan didn't play it collectively? -Nope. He had his own agenda.

He was saying everywhere that he was going to make a major discovery.

-And that could have made people jealous? -Highly possible.

-Tetsuo Tanaka.

-Hello, Astrid.

Gilles let me in.

He told me I would find you here.

Am I disturbing you ? -Yes !

I'm researching a very unusual modus operandi,

a victim struck by lightning in the absence of a thunderstorm.

So it would be criminal

I'm looking for clues.

-I did not want to disturb you,

but William told me about your situation.

This may be the last time

that are you investigating? - Not "maybe",

"for sure".

This is my last homicide squad investigation.

-What an experience if you have to go back to your old life!

You will find your old landmarks.

-M. Gaillard is dead.

From now on, some colleagues speak to me.

I have a friend, RaphaГ«lle.

I no longer do my shopping on Mondays, but on Wednesdays.

I met you.

I can't go back to my life before

because my life before no longer exists.

- They would have assassinated Michel Ardan to steal his discovery?

It's just astronomy.

-They stole his equipment. -Certainly...

-Look at this !

I talked

with journalists, specialized or not. Ardan contacted them.

-What about ?

-He was supposed to give an explosive press conference today.

-They didn't kill him to steal his discovery,

but to keep him from revealing it.

We will do

a search.

This is his apartment !

We're looking for the computer, the phone and what could

lead us to the discovery.

Search here, I'm going down there.

-OK.

- Shit ... Nico!

Police ! Stop!... Nico!

-Stop !

Damn, stop!

-Shit... -Oh!

Stop ! Fuck...

Stop or I'll shoot!

Hit and run, a woman

in black,

on the back of a black motorcycle,

at the Babylone-Vaneau corner.

-Wow! How are you ? You're really messed up, man.

- Yeah, shit!

- Wipe yourself. -Oh yes !

-Since you beat Mathias up, you've become a lion!

-You're stupid. -Would you recognise

her again? -Nope.

She was wearing a hood.

She hurt her wrist and her ankle, she was limping.

-And she was looking for this.

She lost it in her sprint.

Look...

*-In there, I have enough to make a few heads roll.

*I will hold a press conference

*at the right time.

- Posted this morning. -Knocking heads

with a discovery?

-She was not a scientist,

but maybe political. -This video

has been viewed 500,000 times, the hashtag "Ardan" is the most used.

-To say what ? -They killed him to silence him.

- The man who knew too much! -No leaks

regarding the M.O.

Is that clear ?

Lightning without a storm, that might create a buzz.

- This woman must be stopped. -Find out where this video

comes from, Arthur.

And find out

what Michel Ardan wanted to announce, to work out who it bothered.

-This notebook belonged to an astronomer,

he is dead. Commander Coste cannot talk about it to relatives

of the victim, as they are suspects.

It is unfortunate to think this,

but maybe I could find

at least one person qualified in astronomy

in an autistic group.

1, 2, 3. -I am responsible

for an astronomy club.

- But the notebook, it is

under seal.

You can't touch !

Here is the copy

of the entire notebook.

On the last page,

the formula written and circled

in red,

like the red notebook.

-This formula is

nothing mysterious,

I know what it is. -Hee hee.

-In the notebook,

are these heavenly

coordinates. - Good evening, Alice.

- At these coordinates, there is nothing at all,

but there is one thing

invisible in the dark, but seen when it passes

in front of a celestial object. - What would that correspond to?

-Probably a satellite. Its coordinates remain the same,

it is geostationary.

But it is not listed.

-A satellite

Unlisted ? -3 unlisted satellites.

- Is that his great discovery? - According to his notebook.

-Who could be embarrassed by this information?

- We asked Defense who owns these satellites.

- Is this espionage?

-He was assassinated by the KGB?!

-The girl in black license plate

was filmed

by a camera.

Unusable!

-It could happen.

-The PTS found a bug

on Ardan's car,

a type used

by the army. -The army...

-There was a leak! -What ?

- Commissioner,

why do you think there was a leak?

*-Pr Ardan would have been struck by lightning in the absence of a storm.

*It's a mystery ! * -The document distributed

*suggests it might be

*a military weapon.

*-The Ministry of Defense speaks of

* new weapons

*microwaves that could have killed Professor Ardan.

-You have to find out how he got the info.

- How did you get this information? -It's my job as a journalist.

-Where did you get this document from?

-Commander !

-I respect your site as well as the secrecy of the sources.

-Thank you.

-When it comes to politicians or businessmen,

I follow you.

But, this is criminal, you risk covering up a culprit.

-I'm going to be transparent: I don't know my source.

I received this document and the information by an anonymous email.

- You don't know where it comes from.

- But I checked this information.

It's easy when you know where to look.

- We are on the same side

we want to know the truth.

-Are you sure?

-About what?

- That we are on the same side?

Defense develops in secret

a weapon that could explain this crime.

Who knows

what he was going to reveal and who could be embarrassed in high places.

-Don't do the state crime trick to me!

-I ask you again...

Are you sure you're on the right side in this investigation?

-So ?

-I found your information.

According to the scientific department,

the National Defense document is 97% authentic.

It's written there. -Shit...

- Why "shit"?

-I hope we're on the right side this time.

-I do not understand.

-These revelations could embarrass people on our side.

Not cops...

Higher up.

(People

(of the government.)

- You whispered. -Yes. I don't know why.

- Nothing proves otherwise. -There you go. Shit.

-The army

developed such weapons.

Nothing proves

that they were used to kill Professor Ardan.

-Imagine the government being involved in all this.

- The investigation will show it soon. The commissioner will ask you

to respect the protocol,

but you will do

everything that's necessary

to arrest those responsible. -It's true,

that's what we do...

Together.

You haven't

tried it again?

-I do not know if...

If I want to start it.

-We found the origin of the video of the victim who made the buzz.

It comes from "Global Plan",

a documentary

produced by Saravac. -Where is that ?

-Online for 20 days. Look.

-"The great conspiracy finally revealed". -A State made up of elites

is secretly preparing a global plan to control humanity.

*-These satellites participate

*at this global level... -What does a scientist do

in there? -It's strength

of this stuff. 30 personalities

are interviewed, there is even a former minister.

-Who is the director?

-Helena Campbell, brilliant journalist,

sidelined because

she supported

questionable theses. - Look, I have something interesting.

The 1st posts

that speak

of a state crime.

-All pages are illustrated with the same photo

in profile.

- Fake accounts?

-According to Cybercrim',

the IP addresses are located in Podolsk, near Moscow.

- What is this shit? -It's a campaign

of disinformation organized from Russia.

-Yes, Fournier?

She's with me.

*- Pass me to her.

-Hold on.

For you.

-Hello ? * -I have something new,

*please come. -Ok.

-While investigating,

I noticed something out of the ordinary.

- Worse than a thunderbolt without lightning?

- I would like your opinion.

- With pleasure, Dr. Fournier.

-There are

these rashes.

According to the samples, there are soda crystals

on the epidermis. - Is that harmful?

-Nope. Just a little irritating. What is it doing there?

-Sodium carbonate?

-Yes that's it.

-It is completely harmless,

but it is an excellent conductor. - Wait... But that changes everything.

-This shape

was created

by electrocution, his body

having been doused with soda, making it highly conductive.

-It has nothing to do with lightning. It's an electrocution.

-Yes. -OK !

So we were being taken for a ride.

The person who created this scene is the famous

Olivier Sinclair.

A mystery... - A lightning strike without lightning.

-And the solution...

-A weapon !

-A disinformation campaign... -By Russian hackers.

-Easy to contact.

-You absolutely have to see this.

It's on the networks.

Saravac, the producer of "Global Plan",

celebrating 2 million views.

-There were only 500,000 views, I already thought that was huge.

-Look at this guest.

- Olivier Sinclair. - Who's messing with "Global Plan"!

Is that Helena Campbell? -Nope.

She's the one with a little limp.

-She's limping... Nico? -It could be

our burglar. -Take it easy,

Coste !

-You were right. -You will do everything

to catch those responsible.

- Very quietly, as usual,

commissioner. -Thank you.

-Mme Campbell !

- Commander Coste, what a surprise!

-We would like to see the full interview with Pr Ardan,

the unedited version. -2 cops putting pressure

on journalists in the premises

of an independent

producer...

- This lady is not a journalist. -Official propaganda

refuses to give me my press card, but I remain a journalist.

-If you will allow me ? - Ouch!

- We've seen enough, haven't we?

You are under arrest.

Come on.

-Absolutely,

Tetsuo Tanaka ...

Hm hm ...

I didn't start it

it makes a risk of solving it.

Like this investigation.

Part of me wants it to come to an end.

Another...knows it will mean

the end of my collaboration with RaphaГ«lle.

Goodbye.

*-The arrest of Helena Campbell

*is it abusive?

*Demonstrations are taking place in front of the National Assembly.

-What were you doing at Professor Ardan's yesterday afternoon?

- I don't know what you're talking about.

-As you wish.

Your DNA will speak. -I already went

to Professor Ardan's, we prepared the interview for my film at his place.

We had become quite close.

-And this injury to the wrist?

- Maybe you stopping me.

-Don't play games.

-Start by finding a motive.

I validate what Pr Ardan says, my film is the proof.

-Relative proof!

It's easy to twist someone's words.

You want a motive?

He saw your film, he felt manipulated,

he threatened to ban you in summary proceedings,

you freaked out

and them, you understood all that you could lose.

- You are wasting your time. His death is political.

Instead, ask yourself if you are on the safe side.

- Your companion has already done it to me, I can't walk anymore.

Yes.

- The commissioner wants you. -He will wait.

-I do not think so.

-Madame prefect of police.

- The management is interested in this? -Like the opinion of all the country.

It has been tense since the death of Professor Ardan,

plus now Mrs. Campbell's arrest...

- Opinions? I don't care.

-Coste! - We're investigating.

-All that

has a political impact and weakens the institution. They talk everywhere

relentlessly

to muzzle

whistleblowers. They demonstrate to demand his release.

- She wanted to steal a piece of evidence from the victim.

-It's a break-in

not a murder! Commander, there's no turning back,

this investigation is now taking place in public.

Everything we do is scrutinized and dissected. We do not have a choice,

Mrs. Campbell must be freed. -Is this a joke?

- Captain! - These are not military weapons.

We must find the culprit to stop this delirium. Let us

do our job.

- I ask you to do it

before the country is on fire and covered in blood!

- Good, Madame la PrГ©fet.

-It's clear ? -Coste...

Thank you.

- This bitch,

I would have made her eat her cap!

It's an expression...

-I understood. But what does that mean?

Eating a cap is incongruous. -Nico stole from him!

Ever since her broke my exes face nothing stops him.

-Why did you break up?

with Nico?

-We can't be separated, we've never been together.

-Oh yeah ? You're sure ?

-Astrid, tell him. -I avoid

getting involved. Friendships are complex

and romantic relationships are opaque for me.

If it's true,

you never told me about it.

It's your right

not mentioning this...

- I haven't had an affair with him.

Oh there ! Something is happening...

-A mate

sent me this. -Watch.

*-I got out of police custody. -It's Helena Campbell.

*-They are trying to prevent us from revealing the truth.

*In custody,

*none of my rights have been respected. Here!

* I was injured in the ankle, I was jostled.

*They knew I was pregnant.

- She didn't say that.

And she was injured in the hit-and-run.

Do you believe me ? -Yes. There are 1.5 million views.

- Deny it! No one mistreated her,

she was respected

and she didn't say she was pregnant.

- You must not play his game,

we're going to cry lies,

but to say nothing is to deny that she is lying. We are trapped.

-Truths are like lies

and lies as truths. -The nature of misinformation.

Denying these theories reinforces them.

Difficult to argue against their defenders.

-Like the vaccine that caused

autism. -The original study

was wrong.

-How do you tell the difference between a conspiracy theorist

and the legitimate mistrust of citizens?

- Conspiracy, I believe, is above all a refusal,

a refusal of the complexity of the world.

It provides a simple answer to complex problems.

-In the movie

"Global plan", it is easy to present the image as evidence.

-If we watch the whole interview, the truth will be restored.

-Unfortunately, it was not found during the search.

-RaphaГ«lle should get along well with MГ©lanie...

"Berezine underscore 28".

-From MГ©lanie, "Berezine 28".

-Yes, William's girlfriend. -Exactly. I remind you

that "Berezine 28" is a cyberactivist.

Their community

of "debunkers" demystifies false information.

-What does it contain?

-They focus on the film "Global Plan",

they had hacked Saravac's computers before the raid.

It contains

the entire shoot.

-It's awesome ! Thank you !

- Thank Melanie.

-I will. -Agreed.

*-These satellites probably respond

*to the needs of private interests,

*but not those of the global plan.

-He says exactly the opposite

of the documentary.

*-I have been warning about the risks of pollution for a long time.

-A cut !

-It happens sometimes when you change the memory card.

-Mrs. Campbell's blouse

is badly buttoned

in the reflection.

-Zoom. -She rebuttoned

Monday with Tuesday.

-Nope. All Buttons

and buttonholes are staggered. -Thank you.

-Before the cut...

And after.

-And the big hand of Pr Ardan's watch

made 3/4 of a turn, which corresponds to a 43-minute shift.

-It's a bit long

just to change a card.

-Why did Mrs. Campbell unbutton and badly rebutton her blouse?

-They slept

together. -Who ?

-Helena

and Ardan. -For 43 minutes?

It's very long. -We know

that HГ©lГ©na Campbell and the victim had

a relationship.

Why would she sleep with him?

-A relationship ?

-They did that at least once.

-Buttons ! -So there is

a deceived man. Maybe it's vaudeville!

-We don't know if Sinclair knew.

- We have to search his house.

-For adultery?

Madame prefect

will refuse... What are you doing? -I'm tidying.

-It's ok.

You need

a proper

motive.

-Hm hm... You are right.

See you tomorrow !

Are you coming

Astrid ?

-She's going to do

something stupid ? -I think so.

-Can't we do

something ? -I don't think so.

-(Look if something

(catches your attention... The torch Astrid!

(Here. Don't touch anything.

(I'm responsible for that.) -Holding that light...

-(Hush! In a low voice...)

-(Keep still...) -(Hush!)

-(I am violating more than 28 articles

(of the penal code). -(We can stop, I can come back alone.)

-Hm hm ...

(I decided to accompany you because we are a team.

(Someone

(must watch over you.

(Aaah...

(Are you sure that Olivier Sinclair is not at home?)

-(He has a conference at IrrГ©mГ©dia. We will be quiet.)

-Ah !

-(That's it !)

He must know that Helena cheated on him

that the child is not

his.

Look...

I am!

He had a vasectomy 5 years ago... HГ©lГ©na doesn't know.

-RaphaГ«lle...

You need to know something.

I came

and I went against my principles

because this investigations is my last...

-Stop. - Did you hear something?

-Nope. Stop saying that, it's not our last investigation.

-And.

I just wanna tell you

that even if our collaboration faces situations that are

difficult to manage, unpredictable, it also taught me a lot.

- It was you who taught me a lot, and not just in criminology.

-Shut up... Shut up, he has

returned. Aaah...

-Let me go ! It's ridiculous !

You hurt me!

Do you know that this police custody will trigger a scandal?

- You are not in custody. I just wanna chat

you are free to go.

Who is the father of your child?

- He's my companion. -Nope.

-Sorry ? -He can't have children

he had a vasectomy 5 years ago. You didn't know?

-We've been trying for 2 years. -"You" have been trying.

But he lied to you.

At the same time, it is true,

He has 2 children from a first marriage.

-Whatever !

- You will talk about it with him? You wanted

do IVF. But everytime,

he kicked it into touch, right? It would be embarrassing if he had to do

a fertility test in that situation...

-Stop!

The death of Professor Ardan is a state affair.

I wanted to steal his notebook which proves all that.

He was murdered for this.

-Helena...

This notebook proves nothing.

Olivier Sinclair managed to make you believe that.

He killed your child's father, he can't stand that a man

as brilliant as Professor Ardan was able to comfort you.

-It's not possible.

-Yes.

-It was just a little fling.

*-LIBEREZ HELENA CAMPBELL !

*LIBEREZ HELENA CAMPBELL !

*LIBEREZ HELENA CAMPBELL !

-Here we are.

It's over.

I understood right away that your partner,

HГ©lГ©na, it's the shop window.

In fact, the true genius of fiction,

is you.

-We don't make fiction here,

we expose the truth.

-Helena takes the truth badly.

-Why ? - You promised to

to give her a child knowing that it was impossible,

she took it badly. -You're talking nonsense!

-You underwent

a vasectomy 5 years ago. -You have power of attorney

of your mother's safe.

-During an authorised search

we found there, the belongings of Professor Ardan

stolen from the crime scene, in it's entirety.

-So...

What story are you going to tell us now?

-The hardest to believe.

I'll tell you which one is true.

-He tricked Ardan with an interview where he would deny

what he said in "Global Plan". -Then go to the Observatory

where Sinclair threw soda ash at him,

then shocked him with a Taser.

-5 million volts. -He knew former

Russian soldiers. You have to be crazy to reveal these military weapons.

-He knows how to lie.

Fake news is 70% more likely to be spread

than real information.

- So, how is it with Raph? -What ?

-Since that time...

- I've moved on.

-Before knowing if she likes you or not?

-She does not like me.

- Madame prefect! - Commissioner! Commandant !

-Coste!

-The situation has calmed down.

The Prime Minister wishes to congratulate Commander Coste

in person.

-Astrid Nielsen helped me a lot. -I know.

That's why I'm here.

-Astrid !

Look at this...

The Prime Minister authorizes you to continue your mission.

You understand ?

-"Ms. Astrid Nielsen will have to take the

"police officer exam."

-It's easy ! Should we have a look?

-Yes.

"Entrance examination to the police academy.

"Solve a practical case." Easy, it's already done!

"Multi choice on the operation of the police

"and written test on the penal code." Piece of cake !

-A colorful expression... -Of course!

-These are the tests for the entrance examination.

What about the exit exam

to become a judicial police officer?

- I'm looking... - There!

-"Practical case orally, in front of a jury.

"Assessment of management...

"The candidate's stress management in an unforeseen situation,

"with extraneous noises."

Interference noises. -Aaaaah...

-You'll get there.

-Nope. No extraneous noises.

-It will be alright.

-Do you want to learn how to play solitaire?

-I suck at these games.

-Look. A ball, a hole... We jump, we remove.

-A ball... A hole... -No.

Not like that.

There... - We jump, we remove.

Wait, I...
