A wavering wraith of karmic retribution Art by Kyosai Kawanabe

A wavering wraith of karmic retribution

on a wandering path of wretched fate.

Thoroughly despised and fractured,

a set of two mirrors facing one another.

Coming forth from the darkness where time intersects,

your grievance shall be avenged.

It wasn't me!

Admit it! Say that you banished them to Hell!

P-Please stop this!

Say it!

Mr. Naito!

Where... am I?

Chain Reaction

It's the Devil's child.

They say it was him again.

They say it was him again.

As I said, the Devil's child erased Mr. Naito! They say it was him again.

As I said, the Devil's child erased Mr. Naito!

It's true! The detective saw it, too!

He'd been drinking a little, right?

It was the Devil's child.

For the rest, if you'd just say you didn't see anything, It was the Devil's child.

For the rest, if you'd just say you didn't see anything,

this will become a simple missing person's case...

There's no way I could say that!

Hotaru is also...

My little sister has also disappeared.

From this house!

A Devil's child...

The press is going to eat it up...

I'd like to wrap this up somehow before they get wind of this...

Sheesh! No one'll believe me!

Good grief.

What the?

Hey, Kimiko!

You're still up?!

Huh?!

I said, life must be easy being an unproductive member of society!

Shaddup, you stinking old man.

Forever mooching off your parents!

If you don't plan to work, go to college or something!

Like hell I could go to college!

I inherited my stupidity from you!

Your grievance has been heard.

Did you hear?

Some more people disappeared, right?

This time it was Mr. Naito and Mrs. Maruyama's husband!

You know, the two in the neighborhood watch.

But I thought it was that people friendly with the child went missing.

Apparently that's not true.

Have you ever heard of Hell Link?

It's where you can banish someone you have a grudge against to Hell.

There's speculation that he's using Hell Link to make people disappear.

Ridiculous.

Hell Link is just an urban legend.

Even the thing about him being a Devil's child...

There's bound to be some sort of trick to it.

Yup, yup.

Oh, really?

But according to what I heard,

even the police have begun investigating Hell Link.

Hotaru...

Pardon me!

Is there anyone home?

Excuse me.

Is that you, Ai?

Oh, no. I got lost and...

Uh, um, would you mind telling me the address here?

Address, hmm?

If possible, I'd also like to borrow your phone...

Phone, hmm?

Um...

Granny...?

You said you planned to live out your life here!

Even if we sold this place now, we'd get next to nothing for it!

Like hell we could move!

You just don't get it.

What was that?

During the day, you work. On your days off, all you do is sleep.

Do you know what's happening to this town right now?

Uncertainty... fear... and hatred.

In this house, too.

What the heck is that?

I got it from Hell Girl.

By accessing the Hell Link site.

Hell Link?

You don't know anything, do you, Dear?

Your grievance has been heard.

Okay, please stand back.

Please stay behind this area. Okay, please stand back.

He said he made eye contact with that boy on his way home.

That boy?

You know...

That Devil's child.

But I thought that was just a stupid story!

I never imagined he would really be erased!

Wasn't it actually you?

What are you talking about?

You know,

you were always saying you made a mistake marrying that man.

But right now, all suspicion will turn towards the Devil's child.

What are you saying?

That boy isn't the only one who can use Hell Link.

Don't tell me...

I've hated you for a long time now.

Your grievance has been heard.

Atsuko's been...!

It's the work of the Devil's child!

What's that about?

Is that for real?

Totally for real.

They say he'll erase you just for making eye contact with him.

Do you think he's using Hell Link, after all?

Oh, that was scary!

I never expected the Devil's child to be here!

I made eye contact with him!

You guys are probably going to get erased.

I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'm sorry!

I'm sorry! I'm sorry!

Hisako Okamoto Send

You called?

Hell Girl...

Take it.

If you really want retribution,

untie that red thread.

By untying the thread, you will enter...

Hey. By untying the thread, you will enter...

She submitted a request to you, didn't she?

I made eye contact with the Devil's child today.

If I'm going to be banished to Hell anyway,

I'll take her with me!

This town is Hell.

I can't help that I'll go to Hell after I die,

but while I'm alive...

And right now, I can blame it on the Devil's child, too.

Atsuko Now, we'll take a look at each of them.

Now, we'll take a look at each of them.

The first one to go missing was Toshiya Kakinuma.

The Devil's child, huh? The first one to go missing was Toshiya Kakinuma.

It's true that one person disappeared right in front of that boy,

and Hotaru went missing, too.

It's hard to believe they're unrelated, but...

The Devil's child... Hell Link...

Honestly, what are people thinking?

According to the last person who saw him before he disappeared,

it seems Kakinuma was having an argument with Kurebayashi.

Okay, and turn here.

Chief Detective's Office

Chief Detective's Office Please talk to me, Chief.

Please talk to me, Chief.

According to the residents, the Devil's child is rumored to have a hand

in the mysterious disappearances occurring in Lovely Hills.

There is no case.

Some people just happened to be reported missing at the same time.

But there are numerous accounts

of people disappearing like smoke right before everyone's eyes.

Ridiculous.

There's no way people can just disappear...

H-He disappeared...

Why?!

I'm a career officer!

I would've been police chief in another half a year!

Why did it come to this?!

The Miss sure is keeping busy...

I'm all worn out here, too.

I swear, the folks in that town are just...

What does it matter?

The more requests the Miss gets,

the faster she'll be finished with her duties.

What?

Say, do you think that'll really happen?

Don't ask me.

Lovely Bus Touring Inc. Notice of Suspension of Service We truly appreciate your regular patronage of Lovely Bus. We are currently facing serious...

So, this bus is going to be discontinued...

It's going to become a pain to get to the train station.

They were in the red to begin with anyway

and it looks like they couldn't find a replacement for their missing driver.

Even this bus...

I hear the executive director's driving it out of sheer necessity.

But Mr. Yokota, now that our chief has also disappeared,

I wonder what's going to happen from here on out...

Hey, Meshiai.

Aren't you getting off here?

Oh, I need to drop by the library.

Got it.

Hell Link and Urban Legends Hell Link for Dummies The True Hell Girl Hajime Shibata Will you be borrowing these for one week?

Yes.

I doubt I'll find Hotaru's whereabouts with these, but...

Where were you?

That's my line!

After you dragged me out into this place...

Where in the world is this?

This is Hell Girl's house.

Huh?

The home of Hell Girl, Ai Enma,

exists in a place wrapped up in twilight.

There are no homes in the surrounding area.

In the yard, there is a field of red spider lilies abloom.

Outwardly, it is an old country house with a straw-thatched roof.

In one room of this house,

incongruous with the general atmosphere of the rest of the house,

is a computer.

Over here! Over here!

W-Wait...

It's coming soon!

Huh? Coming? What's coming?

Oh, no...

No!

It is at midnight that one can visit Hell Link.

Only those with a strong desire for revenge

may access Hell Link.

Ai, dear, you have a message.

When a name is written into Hell Link,

a message is sent to Ai Enma's computer.

From there, she gathers various information

and determines whether or not to accept the request.

Using her three servants,

she may also investigate the circumstances

surrounding the client and the target.

Is it from that town again?

Are you going to do it, Miss?

If there's a request, I accept it.

That's all.

The rest is for the people of that town to decide.

Good grief...

Next, we're going over here!

W-Wait!

Come again.

Once Ai Enma receives a request,

she pays the client a visit

and she hands them a straw doll with a red thread.

Untie the thread and the object of their vengeance...

...will immediately be banished to Hell.

Your grievance has been heard.

The client's chest is marked with a seal

to show that the client will also be banished to Hell after death.

Here, here.

Huh?

Candles?

They look like there's something written on them, but...

They're the names of the people who untied the thread!

See you later!

Finally, given the contents of what I have written,

it is hard to ask that you believe me.

But I have tried to be candid about what I myself witnessed.

It is my heartfelt wish that my daughter, Tsugumi, lives a happy life.

The True Hell Girl Hajime Shibata

I see...

So these are the names of the people who banished someone to Hell.

This person called Shibata...

No matter how much I looked into it,

I couldn't find out what he's doing now,

or even any hint of whether he's alive or dead.

I see.

The idea for the book itself came from Shibata, too,

and it seems he actually paid out of his own pocket to print it.

The coordinator at the publisher was mystified by it, too.

Thank you very much for your cooperation.

Why go so far as to pay out of his own pocket to print that book?

Because he wanted to leave that book behind.

He wanted to leave it behind and pass it along...

To whom?!

Maybe to you.

What?

Please believe Hajime.

Hey!

No Swimming

No Swimming Damn it!

So you're the one who summoned me.

Let's play!

Some other time.

What?!

Boring!

Hey, what's this?

That detective's here again?

Isn't he afraid of being erased?

I'm going over there real quick.

M-Mr. Tsuyuki!

As I said, I only want you to give me a quick look.

There's just something I want to check.

A-All right.

It's not here. It's not here!

His name's not here!

He's no Devil's child!

It's not there...

Detective...

Please remain calm and listen to me.

Takuma hasn't banished anyone to Hell.

There's no sign he made a request to Hell Link...

There's no mark on his chest.

Hold it.

And? Where do you plan to go with this knowledge?

D-Don't tell me you...

You have the mark!

Why you!

M-Mr. Tsuyuki...

This detective's conspiring with the Devil's child

and trying to erase us all!

What?! You bastard!

You...

You didn't have to suddenly drop me in...

Ai Enma.

You know!

Someone's under suspicion and getting hurt because of your Hell Link!

Stop this right away!

That is not my decision to make.

Those folks chasing after them...

They're going to Hell anyway. Talk about ugly behavior.

Putting it all on that boy, calling him the Devil's child or some such.

They're far more like the Devil than he is.

Don't you think so, Miss?

We're going, Hone Onna.
