Sir.

Please help me.

- My wife is missing - How many times do I have to repeat?

For no reason.

We don't do a couple's fight.

No, not a couple's fight.

It's not. My wife is missing.

My wife has been missing for 15 days.

- Run away during anniversary. - Anniversary.

Run away during honeymoon.

I have seen them all.

Everyone, conference room.

Ten minutes.

Son of a bitch!

Do you even fucking care?

MISSING

Are you all right？

Are you Chinese?

Call me Zheng. I'm Chinese.

Officer Zheng, that's great.

My wife.

My wife has been missing for half a month.

I've come many times. The police don't care.

I understand your concern.

Please try to understand.

The police are severely understaffed.

Also, it's the peak of tourist season.

We only investigate criminal cases

with solid evidence.

What evidence do you need besides her disappearance?

Officer Zheng, you must help me.

My visa expires in five days.

I will have to leave by then.

But she's missing and I can't find her.

The police refuse to build a case.

How am I going to explain this?

Mr. He,

I know how you feel.

But being anxious won't help.

It's late today.

I will look into it tomorrow.

Keep in touch.

He Fei.

He Fei.

He Fei!

He Fei.

He Fei.

He Fei.

He Fei.

He Fei!

He Fei, help me.

Help me, He Fei!

VISA EXPIRES IN 4 DAYS

Wake up.

Get up now.

Let me sleep a little longer.

Who are you?

Get up now!

What are you doing, He Fei?

Do you know me?

All right.

It's my fault.

I shouldn't have run away.

I apologize, okay?

What?

What are you talking about?

Are you crazy? I don't even know you.

Are you still mad?

I came back and apologized.

What else do you want?

You…

I don't get what you're saying.

- Who the hell are you? - He Fei, you...

Answer me.

Who am I?

You tell me who I am!

TUESDAY, MAY 24TH

Please show me your passport.

And yours.

Is your wife's name Li Muzi?

Yes.

You entered the country on May 7th.

Do you remember the port of entry?

Officer Zheng, what do you mean?

May 7th.

Rida Port.

The date, age, and name all match.

Her passport is fake.

- Her phone's photos are fake. - When will you stop?

Where were you for the last 15 days?

Musan Island.

All 15 days on Musan Island?

- Why didn't you call him? - I didn't want to.

I wanted to scare him into caring more about me.

She's lying.

My wife hates socializing and rarely goes out.

Let alone running away.

You claim she is impersonating your wife.

Is there any other evidence?

Okay.

Let me ask you.

When did she and I get married?

At which registry office?

You and I, May 10th last year,

Xuhui Civil Affairs Bureau.

How did she and I meet?

You and I met while diving.

- You saved my life. - Before she and I wed...

You taught me diving. We admired art.

We had a car crash and almost…

He Fei,

you promised

that you would watch over me forever.

It has only been a year.

Sorry for the trouble, Mrs. He.

No, Officer Zheng, she…

Officer Zheng.

She's lying.

Digging up private information online

is not that difficult.

She must have looked into me

and studied Muzi and I!

Even the details of your relationship?

There you are. Come in.

She's our room's housekeeper.

She has met my wife.

Please tell the officer.

Is she my wife or not?

Lucy.

Is she his wife?

Yes, she is. He showed her picture on the phone before.

Are you sure?

- Why doesn't he know his own wife? - See? I wasn't lying.

She really isn't my wife.

What she meant was,

this lady is your wife.

You showed her the pictures on your phone

and asked her to help you find your wife.

What's the matter with you guys?

Are you all insane?

How could I not know my own wife?

It's definitely not her on my phone!

How did you do it?

Who the hell are you?

What do you want?

He Fei, what's wrong?

You're scaring me. I'm Muzi.

Come here.

- What are you doing? - My wife's leg has a scar.

No one knows about it except for me!

Let go!

Officer Zheng.

Officer Zheng, listen to me.

Ms. Li won't sue you, but she was scared.

She is staying at another hotel tonight.

You should calm yourself down.

Why? I don't need to calm down!

- She's not my wife! - I've already seen the hotel's CCTV.

Even with a mask and hat on, all the details match.

Also,

the police just sent this.

I'm warning you.

According to Barlandian law, if you behave like that again,

even if she doesn't press charges, I can detain you anyway.

Pull yourself together.

Officer Zheng.

Do you remember?

Before this, I was with my wife here.

You took a photo.

I don't remember.

Huo Ran, how is it?

I can't find anything,

not even a profile photo.

What's going on?

I can't explain it over the phone.

I just need her pictures right now.

Doesn't she have any friends or relatives

in China?

As you know,

she came back from abroad just over a year ago.

Then…

Abroad.

- Hello? - I will talk to you later.

MUZI

MANMAN (MUZI'S CLASSMATE)

CAN I CALL YOU?

PLEASE SEND A FRIEND REQUEST TO CHAT

I'M HE FEI, MUZI'S HUSBAND. FRIEND ME.

SENDING FRIEND REQUEST

MANMAN (MUZI'S CLASSMATE)

Hey.

Hey!

Hey!

Stop! Hey!

Hey!

Stop!

It's dangerous.

You dropped something.

Thank you.

Ma'am, how long do you store

your security footage?

Can you show me the footage

on this date?

Are you a police, detective, or lawyer?

Any credentials?

I'm looking for someone.

- My wife is... - Darling.

Are you following me?

Stop it. Let's talk later.

Ma'am, how much is this?

It's 25 yuan.

Did you guys fight?

Ma'am, please tell me.

How can I see the security footage?

Only with a police officer here.

Isn't your wife right here?

He Fei, enough is enough, all right?

OFFICER ZHENG

Stop.

That's my wife.

That's the real Li Muzi.

Ma'am, keep playing.

Yes, this is it.

Stop.

Zoom in here.

Is this the evidence

you asked me to come here to see?

It's impossible.

Impossible.

Impossible.

Enough. Don't take this pill anymore.

The doctor told you to stop.

What are you doing? Give it back to me.

Give it back to me!

Give it to me.

No way.

Stop.

You're assaulting an officer.

What's this?

It's for headaches.

This is a Schedule II controlled substance.

Where did you get it?

I told you.

It's a normal headache medication.

Give me the medicine.

Tell me.

What is this pill?

Let go of me.

Are you not talking?

I'll take him to the station.

Don't.

I'll tell you.

- You can probably tell. - Let me go!

He Fei

has a neurological condition.

It's a cerebral dysfunction

caused by years of deep diving.

Abnormal discharge of neurons

leads to intermittent convulsions of facial muscles.

I suggest some imported drugs

for neurological restoration

if you can afford them.

That's why the doctor recommended this medicine.

It was very effective.

Except we didn't expect

the side effects.

At first,

it was just forgetfulness and anxiety.

Later,

he became bad-tempered and irritable.

Even delusional.

He Fei.

What's the matter?

He Fei?

He Fei, you're scaring me.

Bullshit!

She's making all this up.

Don't believe her.

In fact,

he never really hurt me.

Officer Zheng.

- He has caused a lot of trouble. - You liar.

Liar. Shut up.

- Shut up! - He didn't mean to.

Liar! Shut up!

He Fei!

Can't you see your wife has been protecting you?

I'll tell you for the last time.

My wife is missing.

She is not my wife!

I'll tell you for the last time.

Your request to file a missing person case

has been officially rejected.

Stop calling me.

Chris, what is that on the news?

A very difficult case.

Several countries were involved.

So were the police and the mafia.

It stirred up quite a fuss.

Is the short-haired lady a police officer?

Chen Mai?

She's a big-shot international lawyer.

The defendant hired her as a walk-free pass.

This woman has never lost a case.

Everyone thought

she was going to settle

until she fished out new evidence

all by herself

and turned the tables.

Can lawyers find evidence by themselves?

Only if they want to win.

Isn't that her?

Do you mind if I join you?

Cut to the chase.

What kind of trouble are you in?

How did you know?

The fact that you came to me

says you know what I do.

Actually, it is

a friend of mine.

His wife went missing

while traveling overseas.

Then a strange woman showed up,

claiming to be his wife.

She even framed him,

saying that I...

I mean, my friend is mentally ill.

Anyway,

even the police don't believe him now.

In your opinion,

what should he do?

I suggest this friend fly home quickly.

Why?

He is mentally fine.

How can he prove

that he is telling the truth?

Can he?

Right now, he…

Your turn.

How long has your friend been married?

One year.

Only one year?

In that case, it's not worth it.

He should leave.

The length of a marriage

doesn't say anything about their love.

Have you heard of the female tourist

in a dressing room?

A newlywed couple came to Southeast Asia on a vacation.

One day, in high spirits,

they went shopping together.

Darling.

LOCKER ROOM

And the wife just vanished.

The police had no leads.

Maybe those cops

were in on it themselves.

In the end, the man had to leave in grief.

Until a few years later,

he went on a work trip

to another Southeast Asian country.

One night,

a coworker took him to a nightclub

that puts on freak shows.

Darling.

Help me!

You may know marriage.

But I know people.

There are some people you shouldn't mess with.

Welcome to Southeast Asia.

Chris,

put it on my tab.

Ms. Chen.

What if my friend wants some help?

From you, perhaps.

You're experienced and know the rules here.

- If I can build a case... - I refuse.

Money isn't a problem.

I don't take clients who don't trust me.

Your friend doesn't trust me.

VISA EXPIRES IN 3 DAYS

Ms. Chen.

It's not my friend.

It's me.

I'm in big trouble.

And I don't have much time.

In three days,

my visa will expire.

Can you please help me?

That is what happened.

How exactly did she do it?

- I still can't figure it out... - She didn't.

They probably did.

They?

A powerful crime syndicate

with well-devised plans and explicit targets.

What are they after? Money?

What kind of person is Li Muzi?

She is gentle,

kind,

and introverted.

She doesn't like talking to strangers.

She loves painting and...

How did you two meet?

It's not related to the case.

Of course it is.

She's the key to everything.

The one who disappeared.

I was still a diving instructor.

What's wrong with you?

How could you leave a trainee alone?

My mask strap broke.

I thought I would only take a minute.

Sorry.

Don't apologize to me. Say it to her.

I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.

I'm leaving.

Are you all right?

Have you ever felt

like an arrow had shot through your heart?

That's a tacky description,

but it's true.

At that moment, the whole world went silent.

It was just me and her.

So did you two fall in love at first sight?

I did.

I fell in love with her at first sight.

Are you all right?

I'm sorry.

It was totally our fault.

But you must not go into the water by yourself.

Always have a diving buddy.

When you're in danger,

your diving buddy can save you.

Do you remember the underwater signals?

The oxygen tank is leaking.

Get me up there.

I can't breathe.

Okay. Well, I should go.

Bye.

Do you like The Starry Night too?

Van Gogh, a successful loser,

just like me.

Thank you for today.

The Starry Night is my favorite painting.

Really?

Did you know you can see a starry sky

from the bottom of the sea?

A starry sky under the sea?

Yes, I can show you in the future.

Your food is here.

Thank you.

HE FEI: ARE YOU THERE? HAVE YOU EATEN?

I SAW YOUR PAINTING ONLINE. I LOVE IT!

YOUR BIGGEST FAN CAN'T WAIT TO SEE MORE!

HE FEI: LOOK UP AT THE SKY!

THE STARS ARE SO BEAUTIFUL

- Bye. - Bye.

THERE IS A VAN GOGH ART EXHIBIT IN SUZHOU NEXT MONTH.

MAY I INVITE YOU?

THERE IS A VAN GOGH ART EXHIBIT IN SUZHOU NEXT MONTH.

MAY I INVITE YOU?

I kept up the one-sided conversation for over a month.

Just when I thought it was hopeless,

it happened.

You're laughing at me.

No.

I'm just happy to see you happy.

Anyway, it's a shame.

I don't know much about art and Van Gogh,

so I can't have deep discussions with you.

Says who?

You may not understand his strokes or technique,

but I think you understand his works.

- Really? - Yes.

Next time you go see Van Gogh's works,

I'll go with you.

Great.

Fabulous!

She won!

- Who? - Manman.

Manman.

Yes.

Manman is Muzi's best friend

and her only friend.

I think they met while studying abroad.

Manman is a stage play director, I think.

You think? Do you not know her?

We didn't get a chance to meet.

She seemed to have some prejudice against me.

Manman, he's a good man.

I know you worry about me,

but I trust He Fei

as much as I trust you.

I also trust my own judgment.

Then Muzi hoped I could be friends with Manman

and asked us to friend each other on WeChat.

But I just found out yesterday

that she blocked me.

Why does she not like you?

Muzi comes from a really wealthy family.

Compared to her,

I'm a nobody.

So what else do you know about Manman?

She has a tattoo on her chest.

Look.

It's the one on her profile photo.

Aside from this,

I've also seen one picture of her.

Manman won Best Director at the Swedish Film Festival!

Look.

Okay.

Please come as soon as you can.

It's okay. Don't be afraid.

I called for help.

I won't let anything happen to you again.

Trust me.

Three days after the accident,

we registered our marriage.

It was a little fast,

but honestly,

it's the best decision

I've ever made in my life.

In the following year,

we were truly happy.

Is this photo of her back the only one you have of her?

I took it myself. I'm sure it's her.

All other photos and videos...

That unknown woman is them.

I've never seen her before!

Mr. He,

as your lawyer, I need two things from you.

Number one, your absolute trust.

No secrets or lies.

Can you do that?

Are you helping me?

Let's go to Blue Dream Studio.

LI MUZI, MANMAN

I'll send you the contract later.

But I've been there. I got nothing.

Number two,

do as I say, no questions asked.

You take the wheel.

SHOP FOR RENT

You can see the room. Man, it's very cool.

This room is…

Bummer.

A thunderstorm days ago

broke the window.

The server broke down.

It's hard business. But it will be fine.

You just buy a new one.

- Are you okay? - I'm fine.

- The photographer who took our photos. - He complained every day

about the hot weather.

He moved the server to the window

and it got rained on.

That's him.

It's him.

He caused the trouble and he quit.

Anything else?

Did anyone come to see him?

A young lady?

How do you know that?

What's your business?

This Hassel guy

must be working for the syndicate.

If only we could find him.

Ms. Chen, do you have any...

I've put the word out. My people are searching.

So where are we going next?

The used bookstore?

- Or... - Your hotel first.

I need you to tell me

what happened before Li Muzi disappeared.

Hi, Chris. Have you reserved my seats?

The table with the best view of the fireworks.

Relax. It's all set.

Muzi.

Are you ready?

If we don't leave,

we'll get stuck in the carnival traffic.

I'm not feeling very well.

Why don't you go first? I'll come later.

What's wrong?

What is bothering you?

Do you want to see a doctor?

I just want to be alone for a while.

Acting cute?

That's unlike the Li Muzi you described to me.

At the time, I found it weird too.

But it was our anniversary.

She might have prepared a surprise for me.

So I let her be.

But little did I know…

WELCOME

MUZI

Muzi?

But I still can't figure it out.

Why did she stay behind alone?

Ms. Chen,

you don't think

something bad happened to her, do you?

All I know is she didn't know

she would never return either.

No artist

would leave their instrument of creation,

just as how people never change their reading habits.

It's the same concept.

Twenty-three minutes and fourteen seconds.

They bought different books.

Now go back to 1 minute, 28 seconds.

It has been edited.

They replaced it with fake footage.

Not only that.

They devised this intricate plan

just to reel you in.

Have you noticed the manager

in the hotel lobby?

A lobby manager

wearing a pair of Lotos glasses worth tens of thousands.

This is a luxury hotel

- and you guys stayed in a villa suite, - Thank you.

Spending extravagantly.

Also, you have a neurological condition.

So these ordinary pills

became the perfect tool

to frame you.

Certainly,

to ensure a foolproof plan,

they also slipped you some sleeping pills.

While you were asleep,

they carried out their master plan.

I'm counting on you.

I want to see your security footage.

This.

COPYING

Finally, everything was ready.

They just needed you to wake up.

As for the police,

their computer system

is at least ten years behind compared to China.

So for a skilled hacker,

modifying the data is easy.

But even if the manager was involved in all this,

what about the staff?

The Mandela Effect.

What is that?

By constantly feeding people details and hints,

a memory can be formed out of habit.

Let's say you always see a person

behind the checkout counter at a supermarket.

You will tend to believe

that person is the cashier.

Or say this woman you mentioned

was always wearing your wife's clothes

and following you around.

Darling.

So the hotel staff

would naturally believe

that she is Mrs. He.

There is another loophole.

How can they be sure

that my wife won't come back?

There are two possibilities.

One,

they know exactly where Li Muzi is.

And two,

they were responsible for Li Muzi's disappearance.

Based on what we know so far,

the latter is more likely.

Anyway, to find the truth,

- there is only one way. - Good afternoon, Mrs. He.

Here she comes.

It's the woman impersonating my wife. Quick.

We can't let her see you.

Darling.

Who says you can come in?

Let's call it a truce.

I reserved a table at the beach restaurant.

Tonight, let's get super drunk.

Let's start over again tomorrow.

What do you say?

Mrs. He, hello.

I'm Mr. He's lawyer,

Chen Mai.

Since when do lawyers

work in the bathroom?

The world is full of surprises

and accidents.

You two catch up. I should leave.

My bag.

Thank you.

Ms. Chen.

Ms. Chen, what was that about?

Don't you want to know the truth?

- You can't leave me here alone... - Don't forget.

Fake or not, she's still your wife.

CONQUEROR

He Fei.

You look so handsome tonight.

Go ahead.

What do you people want?

What are you talking about?

Are you still mad at me?

Can't you be a little more honest?

Honest?

All right.

How do you want to do it?

Truth

or dare?

Are you sure you want to do this?

I insist.

It's our first wedding anniversary.

Keep up the act if you want.

I just want to know where she is.

She? Who?

He Fei,

I'm right here.

Unless

you're thinking about someone else?

Everything in this world

has a price.

Like this Beef Wellington.

No matter how complicated or expensive

it is to make,

in the end,

it comes down to a number.

So I don't care what your aim is.

Make an offer.

I will take it.

But I don't like steak.

I like seafood.

Grilled slowly over mild heat.

It's worse than death.

And it tastes especially fine.

Aren't you afraid of getting diarrhea?

You will end up losing everything.

It's only natural for the winner to take all.

Do you want to make peace?

On what grounds?

Because I have money.

And money can even buy the devil's soul.

What kind of devil?

For example,

a big-shot lawyer who is competent,

capable, and never loses a case.

I can ask for her help

in exposing the schemes of certain evildoers.

She will even help me sue them

and take away everything they own.

What a coincidence.

I hired someone too.

Dean Yang of Anning Mental Hospital.

I consulted him.

If a mental patient acts violently during acute episodes,

what should the patient's family do?

Do you want to guess

what he told me?

He said

that in Barlandia,

a mental patient's next of kin

has full custody,

which means

that if you have a psychotic episode,

as your wife,

I'm entitled to have you hospitalized

against your will.

Also, I get custody over all your assets.

She's bluffing. Don't buy it.

I didn't believe him at first either.

So I called Officer Zheng to confirm.

The police wouldn't lie, right?

It's true.

Stop beating around the bush.

Just name your price.

I will make sure the hospital

treats you like a baby.

You won't have to worry about anything.

You should know.

I'm not the nice guy you think I am.

This could end badly for both of us.

I don't care if you're nice or not,

darling.

I want

every little bit of you.

Do you think I won't do it?

I can kill you right here, right now.

Great.

That's exactly what I want.

Don't you get it, darling?

I take pleasure

in torturing you like this.

Don't!

Darling!

I'm sorry. Don't beat me.

No.

Get up now.

Get up now.

Come on.

- Don't hit me! - Get up.

I'm sorry!

I said get up, you hear me?

Stop pretending.

- Get up! - Don't hurt me!

- Sir! - Get up!

- Get up! - Stop!

Get up!

- Get up! - Stop!

Get up! Do you hear me?

- Get up! - Sir!

- Get up! - Stop it!

What are you doing? She is a liar!

- A fucking liar! - Stop!

Let go!

That woman is crazy.

In others' eyes, you're the crazy one.

I couldn't take it anymore. She pushed me.

Pills, lying to police, can't recognize your wife,

indecent acts, public threats, and violence.

Who would a judge believe based on all that evidence?

She wanted you to beat her tonight.

And you did. She won.

What about what she said?

Did you record it? It's evidence.

At least it proves that she's not my wife.

It will be hard to use as evidence in court.

None of what she said can prove

she has anything to do with your wife's disappearance.

So what do we do now?

What will be our next move?

Find the real Li Muzi.

Do you think

they know where she is?

I don't think they did it.

What do you mean?

If I were the kidnapper,

isn't it easier to just ask for a ransom

instead of setting you up,

threatening, and manipulating you?

Why bother?

They're bluffing.

The problem is

they are now in control of the situation.

I'm afraid that when your real wife turns up,

they will make her disappear for good.

They've followed us all night,

even when you were at dinner.

- What do we... - Rest assured. We'll find the evidence.

I have people looking for your wife.

What we need to do now is stay calm

and wait for them to slip up.

But

I don't have much time left.

A busy person, aren't you?

Is there news on Muzi?

Be patient.

One thing is for sure.

They won't try anything else tonight.

He Fei.

He Fei.

He Fei.

He Fei.

He Fei.

He Fei.

He Fei.

He Fei.

Help me, He Fei.

He Fei.

- He Fei, wake up. - Help me, He Fei.

VISA EXPIRES IN 2 DAYS

Where are we going?

Do you get carsick?

Fasten your seat belt.

Where on earth are we going?

Do we call the police?

For what? Car racing?

They are getting so bold.

- They act above the law. - Quiet.

Evidence.

These are all evidence.

Ms. Chen.

Wait.

Go!

Here. Come on.

Here.

Here.

Come on!

Here.

Call the police.

- Let's call the police now. - The evidence will be long gone!

They have guns and aren't afraid to use them!

The police can't ignore this!

What if they have someone on the inside?

What are we going to do?

What are we supposed to do now?

No.

My visa expires in two days.

I can't go back like this.

He Fei, what else are you not telling me?

What do you mean?

Who is K?

A friend back home.

He Fei,

you're a gambler.

Why didn't you tell me?

Did your wife know?

Did you two fight over this?

No!

It's unrelated to the case.

A woman thought she married a decent man,

but finds out he is a gambler.

She has no choice but to retaliate!

She wants to create chaos.

- She wants to torture and harass you. - Impossible.

- She wants you to live in hell! - Impossible!

You have no idea.

Muzi loves me.

She wouldn't do that to me.

Then how do you explain this?

- She canceled her return flight. - Someone else did it.

Huge bank withdrawals were made after she disappeared.

I don't know.

Only one person knows so much and is sure that Li Muzi won't return.

That person is no other but herself!

Impossible.

Absolutely impossible.

What are you trying to hide?

What are you afraid of?

That I will find out who is the real mastermind?

- It's Li Muzi! - I said, stop.

- Your own wife! - I said, stop!

Before I met my wife…

No.

I had been a loser

since the day I was born.

I was born in a small town by the sea.

My dad was an alcoholic

and my mom cared for nothing

except playing cards.

It's like my whole family

was sleepwalking through life.

I did great in school though.

However, given my family's situation,

I didn't go to college.

Later,

I went to Shanghai alone.

Excuse me, passing through.

I worked hard to survive.

I took on many jobs in Shanghai.

Then I became an instructor

at a diving school.

Life was finally stable.

Even so, my monthly salary

could barely cover my expenses

YOU RECEIVED A DEPOSIT OF 5,000 YUAN

after I paid my rent.

I really wanted to be somebody

in the big city.

I just couldn't find a way.

Then one day…

BILLIONS IN CASH PRIZES

At the time, I thought

it was just a couple of hundred.

If I lost,

I would call it entertainment.

YOU WON!

But I won.

So I wanted to win some more.

Occasional losses didn't stop me.

Actually, I was quite lucky as a gambler.

I believed God was watching over me.

He closed all the doors,

but left a window open.

After that, my addiction got worse.

During that time,

money was nothing to me

but chips

and numbers.

I don't even remember how much I won

or how much I lost.

The only thing I remember

is the pleasure

of gambling itself.

No matter how much money I lost,

as long as I was at the table,

I believed that I could win it back.

TIE, PLAYER

Then one day,

I realized I would never

be able to pay off all my debts.

Take off your hat.

Go on.

I woke up from the dream,

but I could no longer face reality.

And that was

when I met Muzi.

She was like a ray of light

that lit up my whole world.

We were in love.

Before we got married,

I couldn't lie to her anymore.

I also wanted to free myself

from my old life for good.

So I told her everything.

What will you do?

I will work hard

and pay off my debts as soon as I can.

You owe so much.

How will you pay it off?

That's my problem.

But I don't want to lie to you anymore.

If you want to call the whole thing off,

it's not too late.

If you can turn over a new leaf,

I am willing to give you a chance.

I'm sorry.

I'm sorry, Muzi.

I won't gamble anymore.

You have my word.

I will never gamble again.

LETTER OF ASSURANCE

I had paid off my debts.

But deep down,

I felt guilty towards Muzi

and the feeling never went away.

Did you ever gamble again?

Absolutely not.

I took over her parents' company.

Business has been good.

Then why did K call you?

They probably want to reel me back in.

Chen Mai,

I didn't mean to keep this from you.

It's just that I chose

to let that part of my past go.

I can swear on my life

that Muzi would never lie or take revenge on me.

I trust her.

I'm asking you to trust me too.

Help me find the truth, will you?

VISA EXPIRES IN 1 DAY

Good news and bad news.

Which one do you want first?

Your call.

His name is Pagan.

He went to a detention center

at 14 years old for manslaughter.

He was a mercenary for six years,

was charged with multiple felonies,

but walked away every time due to lack of evidence.

I compiled this based on his parole files.

Now he works for an offshore company

registered in the Cayman Islands.

Intel suggests

that this company was involved

in every case of missing wealthy businessmen

in Southeast Asia in the past five years.

After their mysterious disappearances,

all their properties were put

under the supervision of so-called family members

and eventually transferred overseas.

Apparently, they're determined to take everything.

What is the good news?

Hassel. We found him.

He promised to testify for us for 200,000 yuan.

He has a copy of the original photos of you and Muzi.

Whatever he wants, I'll give it to him

as long as he helps.

As your lawyer, I suggest you fly back home quickly.

These people are malefactors.

Every minute you stay here,

you'll be in grave danger.

What about Muzi?

When I was at rock bottom,

she didn't give up on me.

So now,

I will not abandon her.

Your visa expires in one day.

I know.

That's why I booked the last flight today.

Let's try again.

If we still can't find her, at least we can get evidence

for the police to file a case.

Okay.

Otherwise, you'll have a hard time explaining this.

I'll be back as soon as I get my visa renewed.

I'm not giving up on her.

Go to Officer Zheng once we have Hassel.

All right.

What are we doing here?

We're meeting Hassel. Is there a problem?

No, of course not.

- Money. - Check the contents first.

Now we have a witness and physical evidence.

Let's see what those cops say.

Slow down.

- Go. - Slow down.

Did Li Muzi go diving?

Impossible.

That man got it wrong. Muzi is a beginner.

She wouldn't dive in open water alone.

Are you that sure about her?

What if I was right?

- She planned everything. - I've said it many times.

Impossible.

Can you quiet down?

I can't focus on my game.

Thank you.

How much are you not telling me?

I have a reason to suspect Li Muzi is behind all this.

I'll tell you for the last time.

I'm not hiding anything from you.

It's simply impossible

that Muzi did this.

How can you be so sure?

What the fuck are you doing?

You hurt me, okay?

More money. Now.

Did you do her wrong in some way?

Let's not waste time here, okay?

- Officer Zheng is waiting for us. - I need the truth.

- What truth? - I need the truth.

- What truth? - I need to know the truth!

What truth do you need?

I've told you everything.

What more do you want?

Are you driving or not?

Yes or no?

No?

Get out.

When I took this case,

do you remember what you promised me?

As your lawyer, I need the truth.

Enough!

You're no longer my lawyer.

You're fired.

Do you hear me?

Run!

Go.

What do you want?

Don't come any closer.

Don't come any closer.

Don't come any closer!

I'm warning you.

Stay where you are!

Darling.

Are you looking for this?

Do you still think you can get away?

I give up.

You win.

How much do you want?

I'll give it to you. I'll pay.

Just leave me alone, okay?

Leave me alone. Please?

Who says we want your money?

Then what do you want?

What the hell do you want?

Didn't I tell you?

I want

every little bit of you.

I want

every little bit of you.

What is this place?

What is going on?

Why did you tie me up?

Say something. Talk!

Officer Zheng,

they want to silence me.

I found evidence. I did! I'm not crazy!

I'm not crazy!

You're one of them.

We will perform the surgery

in half an hour.

Surgery? What surgery?

What are you going to do?

What surgery? Get your hands off me!

Don't touch me!

Don't fucking touch me!

Don't touch me!

Get your hands off me!

Murderers!

You murderers!

Don't come over here.

Don't come over here.

Don't come near me.

Stop there.

It's me.

You're finally here.

I knew you would come.

They're going to kill me.

They want to shut me up.

They will be here soon.

Come on, quick.

What are you waiting for?

Hurry up and untie me!

It's useless, He Fei.

They own the doctor and have evidence of your illness.

They'll do a frontal lobotomy on you.

Just minutes ago, Zheng Cheng issued an island-wide order

for my arrest for Hassel's murder.

We're doomed now.

Aren't you a big-shot lawyer?

What are you trying to say to me?

This time, it's different.

I knew they are powerful,

but I didn't anticipate

that they would have everyone in their pocket.

What do we do now?

You can't leave me here to die.

Unless…

Unless what?

Unless we find the real Li Muzi.

This is our only chance to turn the tables.

So He Fei?

Where is she?

What?

Drop the act.

You know where she is.

She's missing. We've been looking for her!

Did you see her the night she disappeared?

-Of course I didn't. - You're still acting.

If you didn't react the way you did at the diving shop,

I wouldn't have thought

that you're the one playing the game here,

He Fei.

Before Li Muzi disappeared,

why did she rent two sets of diving gear,

one of which was in your size?

That day, you told the bar owner

that you would give your wife a surprise

during the firework show.

Hi, Chris. Have you reserved my seats?

The table with the best view of the fireworks.

But that's not what you told Li Muzi.

One of the company's clients happens

to be here on vacation.

He heard that I was here

and insisted that I go see him tonight.

Does it have to be tonight?

Yes, he's going home tomorrow morning.

Muzi,

the starry sky under the sea

will shine for you.

- But you... - It will be over soon.

Go wait for me at Luna Bay.

Don't worry.

Tonight,

no one is more important than you.

I have no idea what you're talking about.

I was at the bar all night.

Everyone at the bar can testify.

They just thought you were there.

Actually you knew about the Mandela Effect, didn't you?

- Not only did you know it, - Hey, over here!

You are quite the expert at it.

…challenger from China!

From that moment to 10 p.m.,

you had 80 minutes,

more than enough for a round trip.

You did come back.

Except

you came back alone.

I must admit,

it was an extremely risky plan.

Even the smallest mistake

would cost you everything.

So you must have been planning this

for a long time.

Bullshit.

What an absurd speculation.

The hardest thing to change

and the easiest thing to overlook

is an old habit.

I know a lot of diving instructors

have this habit.

Before every dive,

they start the timer on their watch

to help them

keep a log of their dive times.

DATE, TIMES

I believe your encounter with Li Muzi

was accidental.

But can you promise

that what happened after that

was purely coincidental?

He Fei.

You hit the jackpot.

Guess who that girl you saved the other day is?

Take a look.

SOLE DAUGHTER INHERITS BILLIONS

Enough! Stop talking. What do you want?

I want my name cleared.

He Fei, can't you see?

I don't care what you did.

I just want to live!

Finding Li Muzi

is our only hope.

Tell me where she is.

I just need to make a phone call,

the police chief and a judge will be here.

Trust me.

Even if they put you on trial now,

I'll have absolutely no problem clearing your name.

You know that dead men tell no tales.

Suicide, accident, adultery.

I can make up any excuse.

I just need you to tell me where she is now!

I…

I have no idea.

There's no time, He Fei.

They own the doctor.

On the operating table,

you'll be a piece of meat and at their mercy.

Are you giving up like this?

I don't care about you.

Don't take me down with you!

Last chance, He Fei.

Tell me.

Come on!

Tell me!

Tell me!

Tell me!

Mohsha Lighthouse!

Mohsha Lighthouse?

Mohsha Lighthouse.

Mohsha Lighthouse.

Mohsha Lighthouse.

I left her there alone.

I had no choice.

She kept saying that she loved me.

But she was just like everyone else.

She only loved money.

She didn't care if I would die.

K!

K!

K, I'll pay you back!

I will!

Did they come to see you? What did they say?

Does it matter what they said?

I really believed that you had changed.

Yet you started gambling again.

Ten million, He Fei?

You've lost your mind.

I already told them

that I wouldn't give you another dime.

Muzi.

Muzi, I was wrong.

Help me one last time.

Do you remember what you said?

I don't know you anymore, He Fei.

I'm begging you.

Help me one last time.

You don't know what they will do to me.

I'm begging you.

Please help me.

Muzi, please help me.

Will you help me?

Please.

He Fei.

If I help you now,

I would be harming you.

DIVORCE AGREEMENT

WIFE, LI MUZI

MISSING WOMAN PRESUMED DEAD

ALL ASSETS GO TO NEXT OF KIN

MISSING PERSON, DEATH, INHERITING BILLIONS

She gave me no choice.

If she had agreed to help me,

none of this would've happened.

So this anniversary celebration

was just an elaborate plan

to kill your wife.

You were desperate to file a case

just to inherit her money.

Muzi, you're back.

What is this?

Sit.

We haven't had a candlelight dinner

in a while.

I cooked everything myself.

Try it.

Actually,

I have something to tell you.

I have something to tell you too.

Why don't you go first?

No, you first.

Muzi,

I want to apologize from the bottom of my heart.

I quit gambling

and I told them

I'll pay back the money in installments.

Let's put that behind us

and start anew.

Okay?

Really?

Our first wedding anniversary is next week.

I've booked plane tickets and a hotel.

Give me a chance to fulfill my promise

to show you the starry sky under the sea.

Okay?

Thank you, Muzi.

By the way,

what were you going to say?

Never mind.

I need to take this.

Hello?

If anyone is to be blamed,

blame her for treating me so ruthlessly.

Have our wedding vows no sanctity?

"To support you,

for richer or for poorer."

Did she live up to her vows?

You're shameless.

- That's how she helped me. - You're shameless!

There's no shame in wanting to succeed!

How is that shameless?

I did all this to be worthy of her!

What is wrong with that?

Nothing!

I just didn't have rich parents!

Is her family's money more noble?

No!

I was at a disadvantage right when I was born

in a poor family.

What kind of person is Li Muzi?

It's you.

It's me.

I am Muzi's best friend,

Shen Man.

Do you know that if you jump,

no matter how pretty you are now,

you will become very ugly?

I don't want to see you like that.

Why?

You don't even know me.

I do now.

My name is Li Muzi. You are?

My name is Shen Man.

You can also call me Manman.

Well?

Fabulous.

All right.

See you.

What did the police say?

They can't file a case without a body.

Let's go.

I'm sure

this is where Muzi's cell signal was lost.

What if it wasn't him?

If so,

why did he not mention the dive?

Let's ask him directly.

Do you expect a gambler

to just come clean?

His act is so convincing.

He clearly planned it all out.

Tell the team I need their help.

We're putting on our own show too.

Do you regret it?

Yes.

I regret not figuring you out earlier

To bring you to justice,

I did many things that I'm not proud of.

And I will face my punishment.

He Fei,

you killed the one person on earth

I wonder if seeing this
