[The White Olive Tree]

[Episode 35]

[This is a work of fiction. Any resemblance to reality is purely coincidental]

I won't let you falsely accuse me.

Hey, guys!

Go down and catch the fish.

Zan, you come down, too.

There are severe water shortages in Happo.

This place is a natural bathing pool.

Zan, he's not lying to you this time.

Come down.

Come on!

Zan, come down.

Come down for a bath.

-Hurry up. -Come down, Zan.

Join them.

I'll go cook.

It's really not cold.

Really.

I plan to let them taste my cooking.

Don't try to steal the credit.

Just go.

Go.

Come on! Come on! Come on!

♫Just say, Te Amo♫

♫Still we don't know love♫

♫Just say, Te Amo♫

♫I can feel the love♫

♫When I'm with you♫

♫Te Amo♫

Is this Chinese food?

-Yeah. -Delicious.

♫Te Amo♫

Yellow bullhead.

I saved it for you.

Li, you lucky dog.

Song's cooking is so delicious.

After marrying her,

you might be chubby.

Your girlfriend might get jealous

if she hears what you just said.

I'm not complimenting other women in front of her.

You single guys know nothing, not at all.

Thank you.

Although the fish soup has a Chinese flavor,

it makes me homesick.

Yeah.

This damn ordeal is almost over.

I miss my home so much.

I should go find a wife.

Can't let Morgan keep showing off.

Is it good?

But it's not as good as the fish at home.

Then when we get home,

I'll cook it for you every day, okay?

Okay.

Ran.

I want to go home right now.

Me, too.

Wait here for me. I'll be right back.

Here.

I'll take Song to walk around.

Enjoy your meal.

How long will be your walk?

-20 minutes? -One hour?

Tomorrow morning, maybe.

Where are you taking me?

What do you think?

We're eloping.

What's going on in that little head of yours?

We're almost there.

You'll know when we get there.

I had enough food and came out to use the bathroom.

Why did you follow me here?

I had enough food

and came out to use the bathroom, too.

You can't even tell a lie.

Look who's talking.

I just wanted to come out for some peace and quiet.

Why did you follow me here to argue with me?

I'm warning you. I can put you in confinement.

I saw that you were upset.

I was afraid you might jump into the river to kill yourself.

You think I'm like you?

Who's the one that wanted to jump into the river?

Am I that fragile?

I wasn't upset.

I just felt

I couldn't join

their tedious conversation.

I might as well think carefully

about where to go next to make money.

I've lost quite a bit this month.

You're refusing to admit what you really think.

What's this?

A letter of recommendation.

For me?

You want me to go to university?

At my age?

Are you kidding me?

Stop acting like you're very old.

There are many university students older than you.

Besides, you've made a lot of money

in the past couple of years.

With this letter of recommendation,

your chances of getting admitted are quite high.

Since you could study on your own,

why don't you go to university yourself?

I've forgotten the things I learned from books.

Are you trying to make me look like a fool?

It doesn't matter.

I'll help you review.

You're suddenly so nice to me.

Do you have an ulterior motive?

Of course I do.

I want to be your senior

so you'll know what it's like to be bullied.

Alright. You want me to try to get into university.

Then let's have a contest.

If you win, I'll try.

What contest?

Skipping stones.

Okay.

You go first.

Okay.

You're pretty good at skipping stones.

It seems I really have to go to university when the war ends.

Just my luck.

I'm going to bed.

I need to sleep to calm my nerves.

You're still refusing to admit what you really think.

Don't say that about me again.

Zan, Song.

Where did you go?

Why is your face so red?

And your hair is all wet.

You two...

Ben,

don't jump to conclusions.

We just...

Zan just got some water

for me to take a bath.

Song, Benjamin is bullying you.

When I become his senior,

I'll help you get even.

Senior?

What senior?

Sasin,

if you don't shut up now,

I won't let you join the battle in Cangdi.

Why are you so good at being unreasonable?

Ben,

if you bully Ran again,

I'll take the plan for Cangdi

back from you.

Zan is really something.

Learn from him.

You...

I what?

Why aren't you going to sleep?

You want to disturb them?

I'll make you run 10 kilometers tomorrow.

I'll seize the chance when I can still torment you.

Little senior.

The word "senior" sounds awful when you say it.

♫In the land of Matuman♫

[Chinese New Year's Eve]

♫From the sea to desert lands♫

Over there.

♫All the beautiful souls♫

♫Forever friends♫

♫We sing our oath to you♫

♫In the land of Matuman♫

♫There's a place where heroes stand♫

♫Through the ages♫

♫Your story aligns♫

♫We sing our oath to the sky♫

♫In the land of Matuman♫

The enemy's coming. Engage!

♫From the sea to desert lands♫

♫All the beautiful souls♫

♫Forever friends♫

♫We sing our oath to you♫

♫Oh white, white♫

Thank you.

♫White olive tree♫

You're welcome, my junior.

You're already taking advantage of me.

♫Can you see♫

I'll deal with you after the war.

♫Those wishes we've dreamed♫

♫Oh white, white♫

I'm done.

♫White olive tree♫

♫Can you hear us?♫

♫We sing our oath to you♫

Are you worried about Benjamin and the others?

♫Let us plant a courage seed♫

♫Under the white, white olive tree♫

♫Leave all the tears to the past♫

♫We sing our oath to you♫

After you're done, make sure to rest early.

Okay.

Papa.

♫Through the forest waving leaves♫

Little Sally, this is the last time.

♫We touch the time of breeze♫

You'll have to sleep on your own from now on.

No more acting spoiled.

♫No matter how long the fate parts us♫

♫We'll meet under the white olive tree♫

Zhou,

do you have any news from the front in Cangdi?

Okay. Let me know if you hear anything.

Run!

The special force's attacking.

How did these guys find us?

He's with Zan.

Zan.

It's him again.

The enemy's coming! Run!

This is all because of this Zan.

I'll kill him!

Looks like the blasts have ended

and the special forces are in direct combat with those guys.

Zan.

Did you not go to Cangdi this time

because of me?

Will you regret it?

Ran.

I chose not to go

not just for you

but for us.

I...

don't want to take risks anymore.

And I don't want you to bear the consequences of taking risks anymore.

♫She is a white island♫

I told you.

♫The colorful wind rushes past♫

I'm not that good.

I can be selfish

♫Lonely waves, starlit glow♫

and afraid, too.

♫Quietly leaning together♫

♫Autumn reflects in the water♫

But you don't need to worry.

♫He is a blue sailboat♫

I'm not a soldier.

Benjamin and the others are.

They're the key

to winning the battle in Cangdi.

♫Sailing alone♫

♫Through the boundless night♫

Whether I'm there or not

won't make much difference.

♫His sails dancing in the wind♫

I'm not worried.

♫Silently by her side♫

I believe

♫Heading toward her shore♫

Sasin and Ben will definitely win.

♫The sky turns a deeper blue♫

And I don't think you're selfish.

♫The brilliant night♫

You are

♫Has never shone so bright♫

the kindest and most selfless person I know.

♫A white island♫

♫Blooms in the vast sea♫

I just...

♫I wish I could pick it♫

don't want to be the reason

♫And give it to you♫

that makes you change your decisions

and stops you from doing what you want to do.

I hope you can

do whatever you want freely

and won't be held back by anyone or anything,

especially me.

Okay.

Then,

do something I want to do with me now.

Okay?

Okay.

These are...

Fireworks.

Where did you buy them?

Buy?

There are still fireworks for sale in Eastern Country?

You made them?

You can even make fireworks?

Do you think this requires a higher level of technical proficiency

than making bombs?

Zan, you're so good.

But Ran,

I want to use these fireworks today

to pray for the special forces,

for the battle in Cangdi,

and

for Eastern Country.

So, they may not be your exclusive benefit.

Sure.

I hope these fireworks

can clear away the disaster here.

I will pray hard.

Let's pray together.

♫In this desert♫

♫Let every wish fly with strength♫

♫Fly♫

Make a wish.

♫In your eyes♫

♫Let every light and warmth fly♫

♫Fly♫

♫Fly to every corner of the world♫

♫Let love take root freely♫

May the beautiful fireworks

♫Sprout and grow♫

never fall

after rising in Eastern Country's sky.

♫Can I make a wish?♫

It's coming! It's coming!

♫That there's no sadness under every ray of sunshine♫

Run!

Don't be afraid. It's not a bomb.

It's a firework.

Papa. Papa.

♫Can I make a wish?♫

♫For every story in spring to bloom♫

♫Blossom and travel far♫

They won! The special forces won!

I just got their message.

They won!

♫In the boundless ocean♫

Really? That's great.

♫Let every isolated island fly happily♫

My wish came true so quickly.

Really?

♫Fly♫

Great!

♫Before reaching the destination of the journey♫

♫Let every brave expectation fly♫

Zan.

These fireworks are fitting.

♫Fly♫

♫Fly to every corner of the world♫

Shen Bei, make a wish now.

These fireworks can make wishes come true.

♫Let love take root freely♫

Okay.

♫Sprout and grow♫

Zan.

♫Can I make a wish?♫

Let's both make another wish.

♫That there's no sadness under every ray of sunshine♫

Wait.

I've been hiding a firework just for you.

♫Can I make a wish?♫

♫For every story in spring to bloom♫

♫Can I make a wish?♫

Let it

♫That every injured child is no longer afraid♫

make our wishes come true.

♫That every tear reflects the lighthouse♫

Here we go.

♫In this world♫

♫Let every wish fly freely♫

♫Listen to the sound of peace♫

♫Sing gently♫

♫Filled with love and hope♫

My wish

♫When a mirage♫

is to be safe.

♫Disappeared quietly♫

♫The olive tree heard it♫

Zan,

make a wish.

♫The wish we made♫

My wish is...

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

Dad, Happy New Year!

I will adopt you

when I get 18,

and I'll be your real dad.

My wish

is for every child here,

no, for all children in the world,

to have a happy home.

Happy New Year,

Ran.

Happy New Year,

Zan.

What a pity!

I can't wait for Sasin and Benjamin to come back.

If I miss today's flight,

I'll have to wait another week.

The children rescue organization asked me to report within three days.

I can only ask you

to congratulate them on their victory for me.

You must wait for them

to take off this red cloth.

You'll know the reason.

How can you

leave before Zan and me?

That's because the earliest flight back to China

is on the third day of the New Year.

The airlines should take the blame.

Besides,

you two are sweet together no matter where you are.

You're different from me, a single woman.

You didn't make a wish last night?

You didn't pray

to find your Mr. Right soon?

I'm not telling you.

Shen Bei, have a safe journey.

Thank you.

Ran.

Shen Bei.

Take good care of yourself.

Visit us when you come back to China.

Don't worry. No matter where I am,

if you two get married,

I definitely...

won't attend your wedding.

You're so mean.

Alright. I'm going to miss my flight.

Remember to take a photo for me when you take off the red cloth.

Bye.

Have a safe trip.

Goodbye.

Zan.

What wish did you make last night?

I didn't catch that.

To go home early.

Then your wish is going to be wasted.

We're going home soon anyway.

Yes.

Zan, make a wish.

My wish is...

to marry you.

Song.

Sasin.

We won.

Ark was shot on the spot.

We finally won.

Sasin, I'm so happy for you

and for Eastern Country.

You're amazing.

Ben, you're amazing, too.

You're both amazing.

Song,

is "amazing" the only word you know?

Your vocabulary is so limited.

Ben.

Amazing.

You're just trying to annoy me, aren't you?

What's all this noise?

Jose,

go get all the teachers out.

We're going to unveil the orphanage.

Hurry up.

Okay.

Okay. Okay.

Before Shen Bei left, she specifically asked us

to wait for you two

to take off the red cloth.

Ben, come and take off the cloth with me.

Is a piece of red cloth that heavy?

Can't you do it by yourself?

Besides, we should let Zan and Song

do this.

Why are we two men doing this?

Cut the crap. Hurry up.

Don't dawdle.

Look at me.

Take a photo.

Smile.

Three, two, one.

[Rena Orphanage]

Who is Rena?

I don't know her.

Rena is the one

who gave me this star.

His one is also from Rena.

We both could often win in battles

and stay alive,

all relies on these two stars.

So, with Rena protecting you here,

you'll definitely grow up safely.

Rena Orphanage?

Rena sounds good.

Rena must be

a pretty girl.

What?

I talked nonsense again?

No.

Thank you.

Luckily, you're here.

Otherwise,

I wouldn't know

how to explain it to the children...

Stop.

I'm really not used

to hearing words of gratitude like this.

Especially from this guy.

When he thanks me,

I always feel

he's up to something.

Zan,

why don't you show me around this orphanage?

Since it's called that,

I must take a good look around.

Okay.

The stickers on the wall

were all cut out by the children.

Alright. Everyone wash your face.

Go wash your hands.

Jose,

I'm taking the kids

to the government to register with the other teachers.

Sally has finished the registration.

So, you stay here to accompany her

and just take care of the home.

-Okay, don't worry about it. -Okay.

Okay.

Let's sit down.

Song,

you and Zan are leaving the day after tomorrow?

What about you?

After the battle in Cangdi,

do you have any new missions?

I don't know yet.

But we can't stay here for long.

We have to go back soon

to search for those rioters

who escaped

from the battlefield.

They're desperate now.

So, we can't let them run away

and cause more trouble.

Then you must be careful

and stay safe.

Okay. Don't worry.

Song,

before you leave,

I don't know what else I can say

to express my feelings.

I can only say thank you.

I'll always remember

you and Zan,

especially you.

You're one of the two reasons

that made me decide to go back to university

after the war ends

and finish my journalism degree.

You made me feel

that reporting news

is a particularly meaningful thing to do.

Becoming a reporter like you

is my goal.

Sasin,

you'll definitely become a better reporter than I am.

I look forward to the day

when we can report the same piece of news

and compete

for the same journalism award.

We'll compete fairly and see who's better.

It's a deal.

So, what's the second reason

that made you decide

to resume your studies?

This is the dining hall.

The children eat here.

Put it anywhere.

Very well, this guy.

You specially prepared it for me?

Of course.

Here.

Ben.

The battle must have been fierce, right?

Zan.

I hate saying

things like "thank you."

But I must

say "thank you" to you.

You know, it's people like you and Song

who made me willing to fight

for a country that has nothing to do with me

without asking for money.

I-I'm an orphan.

I used to think

no one in this world would help me

or care about me.

I even thought

I didn't need

to take any responsibility for this world.

Good or bad, life or death,

it all depended on my own abilities.

But it was you,

Song,

Rena,

and Sasin

who made me feel

connected to this world again.

I don't know what others think of you,

but in my opinion,

you are all good people,

people I'll fight for with all my might.

You're like...

my family.

The more playful and indifferent you appear to be,

the more passionate and sincere you are inside.

Ben.

You're the most contradictory person

I've ever met.

Cheers.

I think someone

said something similar to me before.

I wish you and Song a safe journey tomorrow.

I still need to catch those who escaped,

so I won't be able to see you off.

I hope when you and Song get married,

I can go to China to attend your wedding

as your best man.

Okay.

It's a deal.

Bye.

Let's go.

♫Butterflies♫

♫Flying free♫

Are you planning

♫Tell the story♫

to make every orphan in Rena Orphanage

♫Dancing in the rain♫

a reporter

and your junior?

♫Butterflies♫

♫Hiding from the world♫

I'm talking about the TVs on the shelves.

♫Never feel alone♫

♫Never let her go♫

You think all children

think the same way as you did when you were young?

I just think spending more time watching TV

isn't necessarily a bad thing.

It won't make someone

lag behind their peers when they grow up.

You all say that I don't say

what I mean.

It seems I'm not the only one

with this problem.
