But what happens
when it's shut down and left abandoned?

And another type of element
with a different

negative energy moves in.

of those two opposing forces

can beget a powerful,
other-worldly tension

creating a portal-like vacuum,
ripe for a takeover by something very, very dark.

Recently,
a ghost hunter in Florida went to such a place.

It's moving.

Urban explorer Chris Lamia
is at an abandoned rec center that's believed to be haunted.

His goal is to remain
inside alone for 30 minutes.

what we can get into here.

I remember going
through the entry doors

and it just gave that
really cold feeling.

And it's no wonder,
the former safe haven for children

is now totally trashed.

Oh. Wow, this is a mess.

After it shut down, I believe
it just turned into a drug den

and there was a lot
of prostitution stuff

going on in there
and it was just...

it just turned
into just pure evil.

And after just six minutes of Chris poking around...

...something begins
to rear its head.

Hello? Oh, my goodness.

It's a table.
The table turned over.

Hello?

When the table flipped,
I heard it flip from the other side of the room.

And right away, any time
you hear any kind of bang,

your adrenaline pumps
and you just run toward it,

first thing you think
if somebody's there messing with you.

Whoever or whatever flipped the table,

is just getting started.

Look. Look, look,
look. Holy. Holy.

When you see
that shelf move,

I think that's something
that you have to realize,

it takes a lot of energy
to do that

and you're dealing
with something

that might be a lot stronger
than you think.

Stronger
and extremely aggressive.

All right.
What are you trying to tell me, buddy?

I call you buddy because
I'm scared to death right now.

Whatever that was,
hit me right in the head.

You're getting objects
thrown at your head.

This is intense.

All right,
there's something definitely evil here.

It seems to me some
kind of poltergeist activity.

Whatever is in this
building is trying to communicate with this guy.

It's trying to tell him
to get out of here.

You don't belong here.

Holy crap. That hurt.

But Chris is almost halfway

through the challenge
and determined to go the distance.

So this place is no joke,
guys.

Then, unbeknownst to Chris,

his camera's microphone
picks up a message

right before
another act of violence.

Listen closely.

Listen again.

As the words "Feel the pain"
can be heard

right before the wire rack
goes flying across the room,

literally stunning Chris.

If I were Chris, I would
probably get out of there at that point.

Having that EVP that says
"Feel the pain"

immediately followed
by the shelf being thrown.

That is a very
direct correlation.

And it feels
pretty threatening.

This is dangerous. All right.

So this place
is really dangerous.

Seven minutes to go
and it shows no sign of stopping.

Well, you've got my attention.

I wish you'd tell me
why you're so angry.

But what could be
doing this and why so upset?

The history of this location
seems to give us a clue about

why it might have
such strong activity.

This used to be a place
designed to give children somewhere to be,

somewhere to be safe,
somewhere to interact and play.

And once it was abandoned,
it became a place of violence, a place of crime.

And that contrast between
those two different lives

that this building lived
really seems to illustrate

where some of the tension,
some of that...

that riled up energy
of this place is coming from.

What the hell...
was that?

How the
is this happening?

the site of a deadly car crash

reveals the ghost
of a child in Brazil.

There are
certain highways that rank among the most deadly.

Some are due
to hazardous conditions, such as ice and snow.

Others are poorly maintained
or have dangerous curves.

And then there
are those believed to be cursed or haunted.

Just ask a cameraman,
who seems to have captured

proof of one in Brazil.

May 30th, 2016,
near Campo Grande, Brazil.

It's around 2:00 a.m.

A news crew is on the scene
of a fatal car crash on Highway 262.

Laudney Pereira Dos Santos
is the cameraman filming the aftermath.

My name is Laudney, and this is my video.

Filming a deadly car crash is no doubt unsettling,

but Laudney manages
to gather the needed footage without being too disturbed.

That is, until he starts
to edit it back at the office and sees this.

Watch closely.

As the face of a young child
appears inside the wrecked car,

Laudney is stunned.

The space
is really quite chilling

because you can distinguish
features and they look young.

We can see eyes,
we can see nose, we can see mouth

and even hair,
but it's a very small head.

This is classic
roadside ghost creepy.

We have a spot on a road that
is known for car accidents.

It's the middle of the night.
It's the side of the road.

There would not
be a child here.

This must be paranormal.

Even more
chilling is two years prior to this accident,

an eight-year-old boy died
when a similar looking silver truck

crashed on that
same stretch of highway.

I think that
his spirit might have been left behind.

Maybe he's conscious
and confused, but without a physical being.

And so when he sees
something so familiar,

like the last moments
of his life, a crash with the silver truck,

it's attractive
to this boy's spirit

because he's trying
to piece together what happened to him.

Is it simply revisiting
the scene of its own death?

Or perhaps it's there
as a guardian

or as a spirit who will help

cross over the newly deceased?

Maybe, especially
as there are apparently

so many recently deceased
people at this location, which begs the question.

Could this stretch
of road be cursed?

Cursed highways are nothing
new or unique to Brazil.

There are roads everywhere,
certainly all across the United States,

that have a reputation
for being, not just prone to accidents,

but prone
to unexplained wrecks.

It's like, why would somebody
go careening off the road

in this specific location
if there isn't anything wrong

with the engineering
of the road?

Or are the unexplained wrecks due to something else?

It's been known
that highways can be haunted.

And so let's say someone's
driving late at night and they see

what looks to be a little boy
walking in the road.

They veer off the road
so erratically as to not hit the child,

only to cause
their own demise.

And I wonder
if the spirits of those

who have died on this road
are the ones causing the crashes,

perpetuating the haunts
on the highway.

But if so,
then why didn't Laudney

or the others see
the ghost that night?

I just keep on seeing
evidence of cameras

having this ability to pick up
on spirits and entities

where we are not
able to see them with the naked eye.

There seems to be either
this element of the spectrum

that they are living
or residing in that we just can't pick up on,

but our cameras
and our technology has this ability to see them.

Laudney hasn't
figured out how or why the image appeared,

but it's undoubtedly one
of the most compelling news stories of his career.

in a humanoid form.

Such was the case in Scotland
when a couple spotted something floating past them

that defies all logic.

have just noticed a bizarre
object flying in the sky from the window of their flat.

Not sure what to make of it,
Scott grabs his camera and starts filming.

My name is Lynsey,
and this is my video.

When I saw it, I thought
it might be a hot air balloon or something like that,

but there was no basket
or anything attached to it.

It's like too big
to be a drone.

It was an unusual shape.

It's hard to kind of describe.
It was strange.

It floated down.

We didn't see
exactly where it landed

because as it kind of
got further towards the ground, it was...

it was too dark.

So what did Lynsey
and her boyfriend just witness?

To me, it almost looks
like a vintage sci-fi robot

with this big clunky body
and pointy head

and very stiff,
tiny little arms.

Believe it or not,
the first thing that came into my mind

when I saw this thing
with the long coat and the cone shaped hat,

it looked like a flying
medieval knight.

This UFO
is one of the strangest ones I've ever seen.

Typically, we're seeing
craft that are flying almost vertically

like a flying saucer
or a dirigible.

And this was upright
almost in the shape or form of a man standing up.

And the way it moved around,
there was no signs of propulsion.

There were no signs
of wings moving around.

This seemed
to be just hovering and had a strange look to it.

It's almost traveling
by sheer force of will.

And if will
is involved then either, A,

it is intelligence
that is controlling its flight path

or, B, something
with intelligence is controlling it.

One thought
I had was this could be a person with a jet pack.

Reports of people
using jet packs are

one of the increasingly
common reported,

unexplainable or sometimes
even paranormal sights that we see these days.

And that was
the thought I had.

It might not explain
why the person is holding so still,

but it might explain
that intentional trajectory that we see.

If it was somebody
in a jet pack, you know,

those jet packs, they make
like a high, whiny noise.

You would hear something,
but there's no noise around this at all.

Good point.

But what if whatever it is
doesn't need power at all,

or at least not the kind of
power we have access to?

It reminds me of other clips

we've seen that look like
people flying in the sky.

But every time I see this,
I think less alien extraterrestrial UFO

and more like a religious
sighting of some sort.

Is that Jesus Christ?

It's been well-documented in the Vatican,

even in ancient Hebrew texts,
that there are these

miraculous sightings
of these deities

or saints that will come
and expose themselves to people,

bringing them messages
or bringing them healing energies.

It sort of reminds me
of some of the videos

we see from South America
where you see "flying witches".

This isn't a witch,
but it is flying.

Though Lynsey
isn't sure exactly what this object was...

that anything is possible.

I think that was
quite an unusual thing.

like it before,

and I don't think it's likely
that I'll see anything like it again.

There's a remote road in Arkansas

where people have reported
seeing unexplained,

eerie orbs
for more than a century.

The bright lights seem
to hover a few feet above the ground

and sometimes change color
before vanishing.

While some think there may be
an odd scientific explanation for these occurrences,

others believe they are
decidedly paranormal.

Recently,
two women went there to see for themselves

and left convinced that
they came face-to-face with something other-worldly.

and Courtney Richards

are hoping to see
the unexplained phenomenon known as the Crossett Lights.

And several minutes after
getting to the remote area

where they are commonly
seen, it happens.

Oh, my God.
I'm shaking. Look how bright it is.

You're kinda nervous.

Nervous? Yeah.

My arms are numb.

- My name is Wendi.
- And my name is Courtney and this is our video.

And I don't
see it out right now.

We sit there
for a few minutes...

- Yes.
- ...before it actually decided to come out,

but when it decided
to come out, it came out in full force.

Look how...
look how bright it is.

I'm getting it on my cam. - Mm-hmm.

You could feel the whole
atmosphere change in the air.

It was very scary.

Wendi has seen the light

on several other occasions,
but this is Courtney's first time

and she's freaked out.

Okay. Okay. All right.
Time to start the car and go.

Oh, my God. It's...
Oh, my God, Wendi.

- That's a car.
- No, it's not.

At least start your car.
I'm freaking.

At that point, she tells me,
"Oh, it's a car.

It has to be a car because
that light is just so bright."

I can't... Look how bright
it is. Okay, start your car. Start your car.

I'm like hysterical
at this point.

My body knew it was not a car.

Like, I had
a visceral reaction,

and it just kept getting
brighter and brighter.

Brighter and more terrifying

because Courtney is all
too aware of the supposed capabilities

of this mysterious light.

From what I've heard,
there has been times

where it has come
through people's cars.

It has shut their
engines off completely.

It will not allow you
to start your vehicle at all.

Okay. Okay. All right.
Time to start the car and go.

Luckily, Wendi
is able to start her car.

And as she starts driving,
the light behaves in a way

that confirms for both of them
once and for all,

that what they are seeing
is not another car.

It was not a car, Wendi.

It was coming toward us!

That came toward us
and it started backing up and I'm like, I don't...

that can't be a car because
why would they come toward us

and then back up
all of a sudden?

- No. It wasn't a car.
- Oh, my God.

Wendi.
Oh, Wendi, that wasn't a car.

The video did not
do it justice.

And it was one of
the most surreal experiences of my whole life.

Oh, my God.
Look how bright it is?

I'm getting it on my cam. - Mm-hmm.

This is
a classic manifestation of a spook light.

...Wendi.

Spook light phenomena
are really pretty common in the United States.

So we have
the brown mountain lights in North Carolina,

the Marfa Lights in Texas.

Oh, yeah, they're going nuts.

Haunted spook
lights in Joplin, Missouri.

So this is certainly not
a unique phenomenon,

but the story is
often very similar.

In this location,
there used to be railroad tracks.

And the story that's told
locally is that the light,

the ghost light that can
be seen here is the lantern

carried by the ghost
of a railroad worker

who lost his head
and he's searching for it along the path

where the tracks used to run.

For as long as
these lights of unknown origin have existed,

scientists have tried
to explain them rationally.

Some have suggested
phosphorescence swamp gas.

Others have said ball
lightning of some kind.

But generally those
explanations fall short

when you see how these
lights actually behave.

Look how bright it is.

Okay. Okay. All right.
Time to start the car and go.

Oh, my God.

What separates
the Crossett Lights from spook lights,

willow wisps
and ghost lights is the fact

that people experience
electromagnetic interference

within their cars,
cell phones.

I attribute that to more
extraterrestrial encounter

and less of like
a ghost light or spook light

or phosphorescent
light encounter.

There's definitely
something supernatural there that is not...

- ...of this world.

It was a very scary experience
and it was surreal to have witnessed that.

I just felt something

So I was like, okay,
I'm just going to mess around and started recording.

I didn't see it personally
with my own eyes.

I'd seen it in the camera.

It was scary.

Very scary.

And no wonder, the figure
remains completely still,

as if it's trying
to evade detection

until it moves ever
so slightly.

Who are you?

Marlene leaves
the bathroom in a hurry

shaken by the experience,
and posts the video

to social media,
hoping for an explanation.

Instead, she gets
some doubters.

So she returns to the bathroom
later with her son.

Stand in the shower real quick

so I can show people
something, please.

A lot of people were
commenting saying that

I put my kid's into the shower
and recorded the video,

so I put my son in the shower
as a comparison.

Clearly the two figures are distinctly different.

It seemed clear to me
when we saw her son get in the shower

and close the door,
the height was wrong.

The clothing showed
in such obvious ways.

Dang. You colorful boy.

Whatever was in there
before clearly had to be largely gray in appearance

because the clothing,
if nothing else, forgetting the size difference

and the movement difference
made it clear that

this was not a contemporary
child standing in the shower stall.

So what did
Marlene's camera capture standing in her shower?

This was definitely creepy.

I mean, just the way it
stood there, barely moving.

But then it moved.

You saw its arm move
to the point

where this definitely
looks to be humanoid.

I don't know
if it was a spirit.

I don't know
if it was an alien,

whatever it was,
it was definitely creepy.

Demonic entities
can disguise themselves as children,

as adults, as somebody
that you might want to make communication with.

But a lot of times
you shouldn't.

They're disguising.
They're demons.

They're... they're...
they're... out to fool you.

But why was it only visible...

Who are you?

...through her camera?

All of our cameras
have the ability

to see into light spectrums
that the human eye can't convey.

So cameras have
the ability to see

into infrared
and ultraviolet spectrums of light

and a lot of the time
phenomena will be captured on devices

before we will see it
with our own eyes.

Which, of course,
begs to question,

how did she even know
something was there?

Feelings usually precede
some kind of manifestation.

We're talking about energy.
It's our sixth sense, possibly.

We can feel this energy
or sense this energy.

We're sensing something
is different than it was just a few moments ago.

As we know,
these shadow entities,

they do bring on
a lot of dread and a lot of anxiety.

So whatever this thing is,
it's probably emanating towards this woman

and making her feel
like she's all weird.

Dread and anxiety.

Feelings with which Marlene
is all too familiar...

...because she's been
experiencing unsettling activities

such as this in her house,
since shortly after moving in.

We would hear
like footsteps

or we'd hear a baby crying
and the babies would be sleeping.

I got to the point
where I was really depressed.

If you move
in unaware of the energy that was within a home,

you will become consumed
by those old,

toxic energies that were lived
for years and years prior to you in that space.

And long after
the inhabitants leave,

that energy stays behind
and it creates a manifestation

of its own and attaches
itself to current residents.

The feelings
became so overwhelming

that Marlene made
a bold decision and moved out.

I felt just really stressed.

And once I moved out,
everything stopped.

I felt good.
I felt more alive.

She has since moved back in,

and though Marlene hasn't
crossed paths with the entity

that was in her shower,
she's keeping an eye out and her camera rolling.

I'm pretty sure
that it... it'll be back.

Sometimes I turn my camera on
and I look around the room

just to see if I can
find something else.

Coming up,
a mysterious light beam sent shock waves through India.

It looks as if this
mountain is on fire.

Those who believe
in a higher power

might sometimes find
themselves looking for a sign from God.

And those signs
can be anything.

From small and simple...
to monumental.

Case in point, a man in India

recently captured something
extraordinary emanating from a sacred site

that reaffirmed
many followers' faith

that some kind of God
was listening.

It's 6:40 p.m. Venkat Ramanan
is with a friend

driving toward
Mount Arunachala when, out of nowhere...

a fiery red light beam
appears in the sky.

As they get closer,
it seems to be originating from the mountain

behind those clouds.

My name is Venkat Ramanan. I live in Bangalore.

Astonished
not only by the light,

but also by where it looks
to be coming from.

At the base of that mountain
is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva,

one of the main deities
in Hinduism.

Shiva is also
believed to have manifested

as a column of fire here,
long ago.

So many consider the beam
to be a religious experience.

A scholar by trade,
Venkat first tries to see

if the light could possibly
be something else.

But he comes up
empty-handed.

So then what did Venkat see?

This video
is remarkable to me.

It looks as if this mountain
is on fire

and it seems to be coming
from the sky.

And you have a lot of lore
when it comes to India in the mountains

known to be sacred places
where those peaks touch the heavens.

Skeptics might look at this

and say that this
is a refraction of light or optical illusion.

And those are
worthwhile statements.

But who is to say that
paranormal phenomena

and environmental phenomena
are mutually exclusive?

Perhaps there is an entity
that can utilize nature,

can manipulate it as a way
of manifesting itself

and revealing
itself to people.

It's entirely
possible that it is an atmospheric phenomenon

explainable by science.

But for me,
you put it together

with the specific legendary
history of this temple

where the Lord Shiva appeared
as a pillar of flame and you sort of go...

"Okay." That's what this is.

The benediction of the people
who live in this space felt when they saw this.

According to Venkat,

the strange light beam
was big news in the area.

And afterwards locals paid
their respects and devotions to the structure.

This is very much
a chicken and egg situation

where this occurrence
seems to reaffirm the faith of the people there

who are witnessing it.

But could this be
a natural occurrence,

perhaps the first time
this was witnessed?

A theology was
developed around it.

So yes, of course its
reappearance will back up those earlier writings.

Maybe it is from the Gods.

Maybe it is something
beyond us that is asking us on faith to just believe.

Venkat will
most likely never find out

if the short-lived spectacle
was a religious sign,

an atmospheric phenomenon,
or something else entirely.

But he's quite
all right with that.
