It took me back
a little bit trying to understand it.

I just couldn't.

captures evidence of what could be...

are confronted by an angry spirit...

Something just totally
touched my head.

Honestly, it was a pretty
terrifying moment.

A man in Mexico
captures what could be

the hand of
a long-dead prisoner.

It's a hand. He saw a hand. And I found myself thinking,

"He's not alone
on that island."

And even more
paranormal footage you have to see...

- Holy!
- ...to believe.

As most of us
know by now,

dogs...

seem to have
an uncanny ability

to sense the supernatural.

But, did you know
that the supernatural

can conversely also sense
the presence of dogs?

And in very rare cases,

- even...

...physically interact
with them?

- Don't believe it? Okay.

Then, who or what

did this?

2019. In Chandler, Arizona.

It's the middle of the day.

And Jason Doyle has just
returned home from his job...

...when he notices
something different

about one
of his two dogs, Kira.

My name is Jason Doyle.
And my indoor security camera caught this footage.

It was a normal day.
Nothing out of the ordinary, and then...

Came home. And noticed
that Kira, her...

collar was laying
at the bottom of her crate

and her bed was, kind of,
pushed up around.

And I was kinda like,
"Okay. You know, how'd you get your collar off, puppy?"

Let 'em out. You know,
grabbed her collar.

Everything on the collar
worked fine still.

Clasp, everything,
it was functional.

So, it was kinda strange...

So, pulled the footage
and I'm like, "'Kay, let's see how this happened 'cause...

no thumbs. I don't know how
you got your collar off."

And when he reviews
the footage of Kira, and his other dog, Ralph,

Jason is stunned.

The dogs bark steadily
for about 20 seconds.

Before suddenly...

...stopping.

Kira and Ralph stay silent
and motionless

for a few additional moments.

Then... Watch closely.

Watch again.

As some invisible force
appears to remove Kira's collar...

...causing her to recoil
to the back of the cage.

The collar
just comes off.

And after closely looking
at the video,

trying to explain and somehow,
you know, you can see...

You know, the collar moves.
You know, in a way that it defies gravity

in terms of the way it was
on the dog's neck.

So, I was kind of, like,
shocked and like, in awe of what was happening.

It took me back.

You know, a little,
trying to understand it and I just couldn't.

At the beginning
of this video, we don't know what they're barking at.

But all we hear is this
incessant barking

of these two dogs.

And then, all of a sudden...

silence.

That is seriously uncanny.

The dogs seem
aware of something. Something has changed,

something's entered the room.

I thought
the video paused by itself, by accident.

And then, the collar...

seems to unlatch itself
and falls down.

I watched this video a few times.

I wanted to make sure
the dog's collar wasn't caught on the bar in the cage.

'Cause sometimes dogs have
breakaway collars. Obviously, this wasn't.

The dog
is visibly confused. It goes over

and sniffs at its collar.
Like, what the heck just happened there?

That's what I'm left
wondering, too. "What the heck just happened there?"

So...

What the heck did just happen?

For Jason, given the footage,

he's forced
to consider something

that seems impossible.

Some kind
of paranormal entity.

There's no other logical
reason I can come up with to try and explain this

and, yeah. Now, you know,
the only thing I have left is, you know...

Kinda have to be open minded
and believe that, "Yeah, maybe there was something there."

Once you take away
all the possible,

the impossible
becomes possible. So...

Animals have
a heightened awareness of a lot of things.

Because their senses
are so much finer tuned than ours.

They can see, smell,
hear better than us.

And they react
in different ways or they act strangely.

So is that the case here
with these dogs acting strangely?

Because they knew something
was going to happen?

I've always kind of had
the idea, like, "Oh, you know, dogs sense things

and feel things
that we don't." So...

That was in my mind of,
you know, what is she sensing

that's causing her
to react this way?

But
if this is a ghost,

where did it come from?

Jason has some idea.

And it has to do
with two objects

that Kira brought in
from the backyard.

A ceramic tile,
and small leather ball.

Both of which
had strange symbols on them.

This leather ball
thing had symbols and images on it that

weren't identifiable
to anything I've ever seen.

Don't know where she dug it up
or where she got it.

And my wife, Tara,
said she threw it away.

And now, like, a week
and a half later...

it's in the backyard again
and Kira's bringing it up to us.

So, it was just very,
very weird.

The burying
of different symbolic objects is a major way

that a lot of folk magic
is carried out.

What do dogs do? They like
to dig in the yard. It's entirely possible

that this dog is finding,
sort of, leftovers or detritus

of magical practice
that's been taking place.

And bringing it inside.
Along with maybe, whatever

those rituals were meant
to invoke.

A theory which
might make some sense,

considering all
of the other things Jason and his wife, Tara,

have experienced in the house.

Loud bangs.

Stuff shutting off
for a second, then turning back on.

Our dogs at times have
just, like...

stared at a blank wall.
Like, two feet from the wall.

There's nothing there.

So, it's kind of unsettling
knowing that there could be a presence in here

that we have no control over
and don't know anything about.

So, little unsettling.

But despite it all,
until further notice,

Jason is maintaining
a positive attitude.

Nothing dangerous,
or drastic, or violent has happened to this point.

No plans on moving
and just kind of...

See what happens
and kinda go with it. Hope...

Hope nothing dangerous
comes of it.

is home to a shadow figure.

Your backyard
may feel like an extension of your home.

But make no mistake.

It's not.

Because while your home
provides security

simply by being
in an enclosed space,

your backyard is always
going to be subject to the elements.

might be.

And as one man in Virginia
found out,

when those elements

come in the form
of a shadow person,

all bets are off.

It's 10:00 p.m.

And William Sperry
is in his kitchen with his friend, Austin.

When from the backyard...

Austin, do you hear
down, dude?

...they begin to hear noises.

- What is it?
- Don't you hear that?

It's like, banging outside,
but...

My neighbors are
one of those, or something.

And when William
goes outside to investigate...

Watch closely.

Did you see it?

Watch again in slow motion.

As William shines a flashlight
across the back of his yard,

he seems to catch

a dark, featureless figure

ducking behind the shed.

My name is William
and I filmed the video.

I saw the movement,
but I didn't get a good look at it.

It was so dark out when I saw
the movement. I was like, "Nope. I'm going back inside.

"I'm not messing around
with this right now."

When I went back inside,
I was like,

"No, I definitely
saw something."

And then we all watched it
a couple times to try to figure it out.

I had no idea what
could've been behind

the shed thing.

It's just like, a mass.

I don't even know what it is
still, even when I watch it.

Without a doubt, you can clearly see

a form here. It appears
shrouded in shadow

as it's peeking around
the shed.

There's no definition in it.
There's no facial features. There's no clothing.

It's completely inky black.

One detail that stood out
to me upon re-watching the video...

as they do the pan,
looking around the backyard,

there's the light
from the porch. So...

Everything in the backyard,
chairs, the fixtures

are casting a shadow
onto the fence.

Then you get to this...

figure, whatever it is.

It's not casting a shadow.
None.

If I had to put a name on it,
I would definitely say Shadow Figure.

Once someone
utters the words

"Shadow person" or
"Shadow form,"

all sorts of things
come to mind.

These type of entities
are an enigma in the paranormal world.

We don't really know
what they are.

We almost never see
a positive interpretation of a shadow figure.

So, that's a very...

stereotyped impression
that we have that something that is uh,

a void.

That is, the absence of light
must somehow be malevolent or something like that.

It's probably a pretty unfair
stereotype to make of Shadow People.

Who, as far as we can tell,
really just want a peek around corners

and see what we're doing.

It doesn't feel
like it's, like, malicious.

It doesn't feel like
it's trying to harm anybody.

It just kinda seems like
it's here.

And though
it may seem a little strange,

there may be
a very logical reason

for this figure to be
hanging out in a backyard.

We do see
a lot of videos from people

taken in their backyards,
which makes you kind of wonder. It's like,

are these creatures,
these entities out there

observing us from, sort of,
beyond the boundary of light

where we live?

They're right
on the edge, they're where our private safe space

starts to blend
with the public space of the road,

and the town,
and neighbor's houses and things like that. So...

it seems to be almost
an unspoken barrier.

I think that
these places are left alone

and if these spirits
wanna be left alone,

these are ideal locations
for them to just be by themselves.

Except, apparently,

when they wanna get
a good look at you.

Meanwhile, shadow figure
or not,

William seems to be
handling it okay.

For now...

As long as it's not
knocking things over

and like, trying to harm,
then I'm not really gonna

mess with it.

It's just one of those things
where I'm gonna be like,

yeah, I just won't tell
the new homebuyers that something happened.

Just gonna move on out.
Whenever that time comes.

That's kind of my plan.
Just kinda let it ride.

an old hotel.

And may have been confronted
by the spirit of the man who built it.

In Old Town, San Diego,
California.

Kelsie Davies,
a psychic medium,

and three fellow
paranormal investigators,

Amanda, Mackie and Joey,

are exploring
the Cosmopolitan Hotel.

Wow,
look at this.

Which has something
of a reputation.

We're at
a super-haunted-ass hotel.

The Cosmopolitan Hotel
in San Diego.

My name is Kelsie Davies
and I am the person who filmed the video.

Mackie and Amanda visited
the hotel previously and they said that it was

probably one of the most
haunted places they've ever been.

So, then, I was like,
"Well, I wanna go and see, and check it out.

"See if we get anything."

There's a lot of antiques in this hotel

and they say that the spirits
attach to antiques.

I have spent a lot of time
in San Diego, and I've visited the Cosmopolitan Hotel

on more than one occasion.

And it is a structure
with a really interesting history.

The building
dates back to 1827, before California was a state.

And the person who built it
was a rancher named, Don Juan Bandini.

Don Juan Bandini eventually
had to sell off the property and his house

went through a number
of transformations and was used for several different

purposes over the years.

Eventually becoming
the Cosmopolitan Hotel.

What the heck?

You just feel it with
that hotel. There's something so strong about it,

it's definitely a very
strongly active paranormal hotspot.

It's like, it's pretty nuts.
This is crazy.

And no part
of the hotel is reported to be more of a hotspot

than the room that Joey
has booked for the evening.

Joey rented the most
haunted room and...

I don't know. You just felt
someone in there that was angry for some reason.

Someone was just, like,

so active and really wanting
us to know that they were there.

And sure enough,

just moments after attempting
to contact whatever might be in there...

Can you tap
three times?

No!

Something just totally
touched my head at that exact moment.

Something touched my friend,
Amanda.

Something touched her head,
and like, her hair, you can see was all...

frizzled up. Like, it looked
like someone, like, literally

ran their fingers
through her hair.

Guys, something...
Literally, just touched me.

- Like, not like... Oh, my God!
- You're not allowed to touch us.

I've never seen her freak out
like that. Ever.

I'm like,
genuinely freaked out.

Any time the spirit
manifests physically,

and actually touches someone,

that's such a surge of energy
that clearly,

some sort of successful
resonance is taking place.

To have something
like that literally, mess with her hair,

and make it static-y,
it was...

Honestly, it was a pretty
terrifying moment.

But not
terrifying enough

to dissuade the group
from pushing things,

a little bit further.

Thinking about... Yeah.

The Estes method is basically
when you put a spirit box of any kind,

and you put headphones on,
so you can't hear your surroundings,

you can't hear what people
are saying, you can only hear the voices of the spirit.

We're going to say
without knowing what the questions are,

what answers we hear
come through out of this spirit box.

The Estes method
is a fascinating investigative tactic.

The theory is that

without being influenced
by any outsider,

you can provide an objective
response to what you are hearing.

And what
they are hearing, shakes them to their core.

Neither Kelsie, nor Amanda
can hear the questions being asked.

- Yes. Get out.
- Yes.

Something is trying
to communicate with the group.

And possibly, warn them.

Yes.

It was so weird watching back
the footage, 'cause they were all matching up,

and I didn't realize this
until I watched the footage.

Because I wasn't
experiencing it

like Mackie and Joey were.
So, they were freaking out.

Okay, I think
we need to stop. - Guys, stop.

I just always look out
for myself. I make sure that I am staying safe

and I'm not pushing
any boundaries.

And I feel like we were
pushing it a little bit there.

So, that's why I decided
not to stay there the night.

Smart move.

But what was
this negative energy?

And why was it seemingly
so hostile to the group?

Kelsie thinks she knows.

Because she believes
she caught sight of what could have been

the spirit of the home's
former owner,

Don Juan Bandini,
earlier in the evening.

I saw this man
in the bathroom with this super-long, old, uh, coat on.

And he was tall, he was, like,

I don't know. He just really
creeped me out.

But I'm not sure why he would
be so upset and so angry.

Perhaps,
the circumstances of how he lost the house

gives us a clue.

This hotel began
its life

as one man's dream home.

This is where he was going
to live out his days.

This is where his family
was going to reside.

And he got himself
into such bad debt

that he had to sell off
this property.

Him, his descendants,

anyone living between then
and now who's connected to him,

might seek out this place
as the ancestral homestead.

It was kinda like, we were
in his house.

Like, we were in his space.

We weren't allowed in there,
like, he was very upset that we were there.

But it still
isn't enough

to keep Kelsie
from coming back...

someday.

I feel like
I would go back.

I would definitely stay
in a different room.

Probably not that one, because
I don't think I would be able to sleep.

But I do plan on going back
and experiencing

whatever else
in a different room, hopefully.

A man in Mexico
explores an abandoned prison.

And inadvertently,
captures the hand of one of its former prisoners.

The Mezcala Island prison,

known to some as
the Mexican Alcatraz.

This now-abandoned facility,

sits in the middle
of Mexico's largest lake,

and has a gruesome history.

Built in the early
19th century,

the prison contains dungeons,

some of which were said
to hold hundreds of prisoners at a time,

leading to death
by starvation, malnutrition, or attempts to escape.

That, and the fact that
some of these prisoners

may have been
wrongly convicted,

a horror in its own right,

has led some to believe
that today

the prison is haunted.

One paranormal investigator

recently had the opportunity
to tour the facility.

And when he later
reviewed his footage,

he realized he captured,
first hand,

compelling evidence
of a ghostly spirit.

in Jalisco, Mexico.

While in the area
for a business opportunity,

Isaak Destrovyka,
and his girlfriend, Fatima,

take some time to explore
Mezcala island.

Specifically,

its infamous prison.

Isaak and Fatima
walk around the prison.

And when they get
to the entrance of a dungeon,

where phantom echoes
of prisoners are allegedly heard,

something strange happens.

Watch closely.

Did you catch that?

Watch... as Isaak
enters the doorway.

Someone,
or something,

seems to grasp the edge
of the door with its hand.

Isaak doesn't notice,

until he reviews
the footage later,

and he is amazed.

and this is my video.

When we were there,
there was no one.

I am more a skeptical person
than a believer person.

So, the first time
I reviewed it, I said, like,

"Someone is trying
to make a joke on us."

But the more
he views it,

the more clear it becomes.

That this...
was no joke.

It's a hand.
You saw a hand

reaching around the door
and just pulling it slightly open

as the investigator
passes through.

And I found myself thinking,

"He's not alone
on that island!"

The fingers, although
they're obviously human,

don't necessarily look like
living human fingers.

I don't know.
There's something, sort of, discolored about them.

Not necessarily living
flesh and blood.

And if you look closely,

it seems to be the hand
of somebody who's a little bit older.

A weathered hand, you know?
Someone that has seen

some things, has worked
with some things.

It almost seemed
inviting to this guy

and it happened
at the right time.

Guy's walking through
the door, hand comes around from the door,

open it up a little bit
wider for him.

But if it is
a ghostly hand,

whose was it?

And why so welcoming?

I think it's fairly
unequivocal

that this would be the spirit
of a past prisoner.

Someone who is stuck.
Maybe trapped as they were in life,

incarcerated in this space.

These people
were locked away from the rest of the world,

sometimes under
false pretenses.

You can imagine
their displeasure

if they had to live out
the remainder of their life in a brutal place like this.

It's not out of
the realm of the conceivable

that maybe the strong emotions
experienced there

have left behind
a psychic residue.

Or maybe, there are
intelligent haunts there

that invite others in
to say, "Please,

"remember us. Tell our story."

They were prisoners
who died because of the punishments of the police.

I mean, if you were there,

you were going to die.

And if
that's the case, the haunting

and the phantom hand
make sense.

Of course, you would
imagine that if a prisoner does die in a prison,

this would be
their chance to flee.

The fact that there might
still be this spirit there,

makes you wonder
if they're still imprisoned there,

even after death.

If consciousness
survives bodily death,

and one of these prisoners
comes back to where he passed away,

possibly in a violent way,

you're gonna experience
an apparitional haunting. You might see something.

And if you don't,
maybe just like Isaak,

your camera will.

Alfredo Lobrudo
is on the shore of the Tyrrhenian Sea.

When, as the setting sun
peeks through the clouds above him,

he sees this.

A sunlight silhouette.

One that unmistakably
looks very much like...

Jesus on the Cross.

In this photo, we see
what looks like a man,

with his arms outstretched
in the sky, glowing

as if on fire.

That looks like someone
with hands.

You can see fingers
and you can see, almost as if they're wearing

some sort of a robe.

This is a pose that we see
Jesus in, and here it is

manifested in the sky
through the sunlight.

Struck
by its beauty,

Alfredo immediately puts it
on social media.

Where it seems to strike
the same nerve with the public,

quickly going viral.

It's almost like
a religious experience

seeing something like this,
thinking to yourself,

"Oh my God. Is that Jesus
in the sun?"

And to some people,
that's very comforting.

Particularly
perhaps in times of peril.

The Philippines.

Myla Pazziuagan Abuzo

is in the area as part
of a clearing crew

following a tragic landslide.

When nearby,

she spots something.

A waterfall that incredibly

resembles another
religious figure.

The Virgin Mary.

I am
Myla Pazziuagan Abuzo.

When I see this waterfall,

it so instantly reminds me of

the image of the Virgin Mary.

The waterfall almost, kind of,
creates this look, like,

you know, the Virgin Mary
has that shawl,

you know, that goes
and falls over her head and shoulders.

There was a tragedy
that struck just before this.

So, maybe the people
viewing this

need that. They need that
re-assurance that

even though bad things happen,

there are those
that are around to protect them.

Maybe.
But not all signs offer such re-assurance.

2007, in Vale, Oregon.

As part of a private company,

protecting a wooden structure
for a rancher,

firefighter David Konyndyk

is enacting a controlled burn
on a small area of the forest.

Once the fire gets going,

he starts taking photos.

And captures this.

An image that looks
almost exactly

like the Devil himself.

Hi, my name's David Konyndyk.

I took this photo in Vale,
Oregon in 2007.

It must have been around
midnight when we lit this backfire.

I started snapping photos.

And I looked down
at the screen, I saw that figure right away.

You know, we've all seen
figures in fire before,

but this one looks
particularly... striking.

The contrast and the way
the figure looks like it has some texture to it,

it kinda speaks to you.
It kind of, uh, shouts out at you, like,

"This is weird."

Weird...
and terrifying.

It's archetypical for
everything that we characterize

the devil's appearance
as being.

We can see the reddish...

fiery face. The long horns.

I am a science guy.
I have a degree in physics and...

I look at things
with a skeptical eye.

Um, but I can also tell you
what science doesn't know.

And, uh, there's,
there's quite a world out there

that we don't quite
understand yet.

Fortunately,
the burn went off without a hitch.

And maybe
whatever is happening in the clouds,

the water and the fire

is less about understanding,

and more about being open
to all possibilities.

We romanticize
an openness to belief in children.

And we pathologize a belief
in adults.

We think adults should be
over that by now.

And that's incredibly
unfortunate that we do that because,

belief stands to be
one of the most therapeutic tools we have.

And if we could get over this
inclination to either totally oversell it,

or totally
over-pathologize it,

um, we might actually be able
to do something really important and useful with it.

captures strange objects in the skies above Colorado.

Holy!

Night vision cameras

were invented
by the Hungarian physicist,

Kalman Tihanyi in 1929.

And re-used only
a decade later in World War II.

The technology reads
the infrared light bouncing off objects.

Allowing users
to see those objects

in total darkness.

And while it's obvious

why that might be helpful
in combat situations,

many also believe...

that it is very useful
in the detection

of UFO's in the night sky.

See that?
Open your eyes. It's coming right over us.

And there's no more
appropriate example of that,

than two recent videos
from Colorado.

Holy!

In Aurora, Colorado.

Jason Sirachi and a friend
are outside

equipped with a special pair
of night vision goggles

which are capable
of capturing video.

When in the distance...

they spot something.

What the hell is that?

An object
shaped like a white line

shooting straight up
into the sky.

And as Jason notes...

What the?
That thing is getting longer.

It seems
to be elongating

as it ascends,
blowing Jason's mind.

Holy!

Then,
once the object reaches the clouds...

- What the?
- What's that?

It's going
into the clouds. It's disappearing.

- It's gone. It's gone.
- No, it's not.

Whatever it is,
it's gone.

This is very dissimilar to
any other UFO footage

that I've seen before.

What we have here
is not necessarily an Unidentified Flying Object,

but an Unidentified
"Ascending" Object.

This shape where it's
vertical, moving upward,

growing brighter...

Until it simply disappears.
Clearly within our atmosphere

as the people making the video
point out.

This is really a unique,
sort of, thing.

Two nights later,
things get even weirder.

See that?
Open your eyes. It's coming right over us.

Using
the same binoculars,

Jason captures more phenomena.

And this time,

he has something
to compare it to.

A passing airplane.

See how much higher
the airplane is than this object?

That just proved that
that thing is not a satellite.

Then,
this object too, eventually heads up.

And disappears
without a trace.

It needs to get
bright again. See once... Oh! - Oh!

It didn't seem to trigger
a massive alarm

in the plane that was flying
past it. It seems impossible

that the person flying
the plane, if not the passengers in it

wouldn't have seen
whatever that orb was, and then...

Suddenly, it just moves up
and disappears.

This is not the way
that known objects in the sky behave.

But who's to say
it's even an object in the first place?

I believe that there are forms
of light beings

and that they get lumped
in the category of UFO.

It's a type of light

that uses a form of

consciousness download
to connect with conscious individuals.

Several individuals
that I know are these types of contactees.

So, they believe that these
light UFOs, as we call them, are really not crafts,

but beings
coming to download

information into conscious
individuals to help with human ascension.

And so, these downloads
are given to certain individuals

that have the ability...

to raise the consciousness
level in mass.

Whoa!

Well, whatever Jason caught
that week in May,

one thing's for sure...

They're absolutely
mesmerizing.

Holy!

What should you do
in the event you witness something paranormal?

Here are some tips
to get it all on camera.

- Check your security footage.

And then, check it again.

Investigate any noises
in your yard.

Be careful about who
or what...
