Previously on Nightclub Confidential...

Nightlife here is very small townish.

It's country and classic rock, so we decided to do things differently.

Tequila was doing things that local clubs never did before.

It was the club where the DJ was the king.

When we opened three years ago,

we were doing nights of 35 to 50,000 dollars in sales.

When you're the new guys in town, everybody wants to check you out.

When you're 3 or 4 years old,

now you gotta really work to get people through your doors.

Those 45,000-dollar nights have turned to 5000-dollar nights.

We need to get Tequila back on top.

Blair Anton is our new general manager,

and he's the guy that can get Tequila back on top.

So I've changed the music format completely to be Top 40,

dance, the odd country song.

The old country music in an electro bar.

I don't think Blair gets Tequila.

We were the place that people went that hated country.

If Simon and Chunk don't step back and let me do my thing,

there's gonna be some problems.

I've been renovating a French heritage home for my family to move into.

We've missed our move-in deadline.

We've lost our rental home and now we're living in the RV.

During the day, I run a business called MPowered Fitness...

And business is booming.

I hate this.

The past few weeks have been the busiest I've ever been in my life.

Schedule's just been... stacked, man.

Most doormen work two jobs because you get minimum wage here.

And by the time you pay your drink tab, you're lucky if you get anything at all.

It's better when there's less people...

My name is Gina-Marie Wirt and I am Mitch's logical better half.

Mitch's busy schedule leaves himself spread so thin.

People wanna come in and I just can't say no...

...to people trying to up their fitness level.

This is why you can't have a threesome, Mitch,

because you have too many women on the go.

It's a really big contrast, you know, in terms of health.

Contrast between these two worlds is almost getting to be too much.

Having a boyfriend who's also a bouncer that works in a nightclub...

...can be very challenging.

The lifestyle is partying. It's full of temptations.

Gina's a little bit frustrated in terms of the time that I get to spend with her.

In the three years I've worked here,

I've gained somewhat of a kinship with Chunk and the rest of the staff here,

and I don't feel it'd be right to leave in their hour of need.

It doesn't seem like it's gonna stop anytime soon,

so I guess I've just gotta buck up.

Every week's a battle lately.

Blair Anton is the general manager of Tequila.

We hired Blair last year to implement some changes.

We hoped this would be good for business.

What I wanna try to do is moving away from the hip hop music,

bringing in a little bit more rock, bringing a little bit more consistency in.

Blair didn't put the time in to manage his changes.

As a result, the changes didn't work.

Did you sell a drink already or no? Yeah.

Yeah, doesn't sound like they did a liquor order today.

There's no rye, there's no gin, there's no Jack Daniels.

Hope everybody's got a full bottle of rye at their bar.

I went there to run basically a new format bar...

...and it didn't pan out that way.

Nah, bartender quit.

Staffing the club has been a completely nightmare.

We're in rough shape.

We've been getting more people quitting than we've been getting resumes in.

And it's been ridiculous, so... Just...

When everybody quits... without any notice,

it doesn't... help anything.

I just wasn't willing to sit around and babysit...

...a room full of people who didn't wanna be there.

I'm heading into the club tonight to see how the place is running.

First thing I'm gonna do is change my shirt.

Right away, I walk in and there's problems that need a manager's attention,

and Blair's just not dealing with the problems.

Turning on the lighting rig 'cause it wasn't on yet.

The general manager's job is to be a leader...

...and to delegate responsibility, but Blair is setting a poor example.

Even our head doorman, Mitch, is getting away...

...with standing around drinking rather than working.

Honestly, I'm shocked at how bad things have gotten at the club.

Porters aren't stocking the bars. Bartenders are nowhere to be found.

Simon gone sucks. It really sucks.

Tequila is missing a front man like Simon.

When Simon wasn't burnt out, he was really good for the club.

He mingled and partied with the customers. He shook hands. He gave out hugs.

He made people feel really good to come out to play.

He's always been a really crazy partier, and I think people miss that.

Unfortunately, Blair has not come close to filling his shoes.

I really wasn't doing anything worthwhile in my opinion.

It's like I'm here babysitting the club.

Chunk could've hired a supervisor for a lot less money to do that.

Putting out fires, bringing energy in the room,

that's what a manager's supposed to do.

If you're managing a club, you get heart and soul into the place,

you're a hundred percent into the place.

If you watch what he's doing right now,

he's standing at the front door pouting because it's busy.

You know, if there's a criticism on me for not taking control, well, it's true.

I didn't take control, but I wasn't given control.

There's no heart there. There's nothing left.

I need to get this house finished.

Winter is coming and I'm running out of time.

I need this condo sale to go through.

But it's a short possession,

and there's not enough hours in the day to get it finished.

I'll have to kidnap some porters and bring them here to do some cleaning.

I only have one more day till the buyers take possession.

This is really down to the wire.

It's just me and two other people, two other people training here.

Well, I came here to workout and Mitch got distracted...

...by a business telephone meeting.

This time last year,

Mitch was training me for the fitness competition.

Hopefully, we're still able to get this workout in.

I have this provincial competition coming up again.

I really am in a time of need of Mitch's direct focus and guidance.

The only time that I get to spend with him...

...is when I book a session with him and I have to come here.

But because it's me, this is why he can push it.

I gotta get going with a workout here.

Working a nightclub is tough on a relationship.

You work late hours and there's a lot of temptations...

The bar is just part of the past and you still work at one, so...

It's hard to train your girlfriend.

and she's in a state where she just wants to argue all time.

Your personality is really easy to argue with.

You can't stay up all night drinking and partying...

...and then in the day, be teaching people about health and fitness.

It doesn't fit on the same page.

I kinda felt like I was in a no-win situation.

Trying to, you know, feel good about the job you're doing...

...when it's not going well was extremely difficult.

I just got this email and it's Blair's resignation.

Been feeling like he should be retiring since June.

Wanted to make sure that it was certain that I could return...

...to the club full time before he resigned.

How did I feel about it? I was sick to my stomach.

I dreaded going in to work. You know.

I just felt like there was nowhere for me to go there.

Timing's not great. I got a house project on the go.

Extremely, extremely busy with the club.

Living in the motorhome out back while we're finishing our house.

Simon just recently resigned.

So I've got a lot of things to think about and figure out...

...and gotta roll up my sleeves and get back to work.

Hardly had time for Tequila lately.

I just felt like there was nowhere for me to go there.

I just got this email and it's Blair's resignation.

Whoever got in today, I need the key for Willow,

'cause I can't find it anywhere.

It's the day of possession and my realtor, Willow,

is about to walk through with the buyers.

But the place isn't quite finished.

And here we go.

Not like it's gonna be ready in time.

This room is done, except for we gotta swap the countertop.

Obviously, I don't like excuses. This should've been completed.

All I'm waiting on is the under-mount sink.

Ever since I've decided to behave and stay out of the clubs...

Great news. The condo sale went through.

...and take over for my deadbeat manager.

You know, there's a lot of stress involved in it...

...and things haven't gone, you know, the way we had hoped.

And there's definitely frustration around it.

I've been seeing totals for the weekends getting lower...

...and lower and lower, and a lot of complaints with staff.

You know, they wanna go back to electro and stuff like that.

I think they should bring in somebody young who's into that kinda music.

There's a lot of nights he doesn't show up until 11:30 or 12:00 at night.

It's hard on the body. I didn't come to run Tequila long term.

Quitting in the busiest month of the year is not cool a thing to do.

I don't have much more to say about it. I'm done at the club.

Hollis told me Chunk was in the club so I waited for him in the office.

I don't know. Blair has...

Blair doesn't even schedule talent in the weekend.

By the time I got to the club, I was too pissed off to deal with Blair.

It's unfortunate my time at the club didn't turn out better.

It feels great to get out of that bad situation.
