=Love and Sword=

(Adapted from Shen Cangmei's novel Sleeping Beside Yan Shao)

=Episode 13=

Master,

I have something to tell you.

You can't leave without any explanation!

Are you in such a hurry

because you have something urgent to say to Yan Shao?

He already left the manor.

It's a pity that he didn't get to wear the new clothes I prepared for him.

Did he tell you where he was going?

You look so lost.

Could it be you have feelings for Yan Shao?

Too bad he's already gone.

(Bonded Contract)

Where is he heading?

No one knows.

He didn't tell anyone.

I thought you would know.

But it looks like

you don't know either.

Shukuang,

Yan Shao may have stayed by your side all this time.

But he never truly gave you his heart.

Most men are like that.

So don't be too sad.

Leader Shen,

someone sent a message.

"The fragrance of Fluttering Fragrance lingers on Yan and Rong.

The butterflies can trace their path."

(Kindly Accept) Using our own plan against us.

Interesting.

Very interesting.

Ever since Yan Shao left,

Young Lady Rong seems like a different person.

She spends all day practicing her blade techniques.

But

her movements have grown faster and sharper.

Her martial skills must have fully recovered by now.

They say Ghost Valley Sect will besiege Yuchi Manor soon.

One more fighter means one more chance at survival.

(Just focus on perfecting)

(the Starlit Descent.)

(Watch closely.)

(Relax)

(and focus.)

(Gather your strength in your hands.)

(You need to regulate your breathing,)

(and allow your blade to move as your heart commands.)

(Marriage Proposal. Chu Tianyao of Tiangang)

This demand is absolutely outrageous!

How can Yuchi Manor allow itself

to be ordered around like this?

The Leader of Tiangang dares

to make such a request?

Father,

we cannot accept this.

We still do not know Shukuang's stance on this.

Why are you so anxious?

You're saying we must rely on a woman's marriage

to secure this alliance.

Martial Brother Chu's son

is not exactly an outsider.

No matter what,

I won't agree to this!

Shaoci.

Father.

Shaoci.

What's wrong?

Shukuang,

come.

Sit down.

The Ghost Valley Sect is about to attack Yuchi Manor.

We've been negotiating an alliance with Tiangang.

But their leader, Chu Tianyao wants

to form a marital alliance with our Yuchi Manor.

He wants to marry you.

Marry me?

Don't worry.

We will never agree to such terms.

And I would never accept it.

You came here

for other matters, right?

I want to ask you

where Yan Shao went.

I entrusted him

with the alliance negotiations.

It was his people

who delivered Chu Tianyao's marriage proposal.

(Marriage Proposal. Chu Tianyao of Tiangang)

He sent someone to deliver the proposal?

Yan Shao

is also a member of Tiangang.

Who

is this leader?

His name is Chu Tianyao.

He lives in seclusion at Mount Moye

and is my martial brother's adopted son.

He's an elusive

and mysterious person.

Only a few have ever seen him.

A few years ago, he founded the Tiangang organization.

They know every hidden secret

of the martial world and they can accomplish things

that ordinary sects cannot.

So

with the Six Great Sects divided,

they are unable to unite.

Only Tiangang

can truly aid Yuchi Manor?

At the very least, Tiangang is trustworthy.

Do you want me to marry their leader?

Of course,

I want you to marry the one you truly love.

Father,

I'd like to discuss this with you in private.

So this is what Ghost Valley Sect has been after all along.

The key to unlocking the Fuxian treasure?

Yes.

When Misty Moon Village was massacred years ago,

you were the sole survivor.

I brought you to Yuchi Manor

and hid one of the keys here.

I had planned to give it to you once you were grown.

One of the keys?

Outsiders don't know

that there are two keys.

Only by combining them

can the treasure's mechanism be unlocked.

Where is the other key?

It's in the hands of the Tiangang's leader.

He proposed

that as a betrothal gift,

only by marriage with Yuchi Manor

can our sects form an alliance

and unlock the treasure together.

( I knew it.)

(This so-called leader)

(is only after the treasure.)

(Marriage?)

(What a nice way to put it.)

(He just sees me as a pawn.)

You said

Yan Shao is part of Tiangang.

That means he serves Chu Tianyao.

Tiangang may be enigmatic

and unpredictable.

But whenever the martial world is in crisis,

they always intervene to help.

I've long suspected

that he wasn't an ordinary wanderer.

What did Father say to you?

I will never stand by

and watch you be used as a bargaining chip.

Shukuang!

I'll marry you.

Have you forgotten?

You once publicly rejected my proposal.

Back then, I saw you as family and as a sibling.

I had no romantic feelings for you.

But ever since you returned to the manor,

I realized you've changed.

I catch myself looking at you without realizing it.

I find myself thinking

about you for no reason at all.

Shukuang,

can you...

Stop, Shaoci.

We are family.

We always have been and we always will be.

You're not actually considering marrying Chu Tianyao, are you?

Are you really going to marry a man

you've never even met?

Did Father force you into this?

I'll go talk him out of it.

Shaoci.

This is something

I want to decide for myself.

(Rong Shukuang) (Since he already left,)

(there's no reason for me to stay.)

Sending a marriage proposal?

Clearly, he has no feelings for me.

But Yuchi Manor

has been kind to me

and Rong Shukuang.

I should repay that kindness.

In any case,

marrying this so-called leader

allows me to repay my gratitude

and

unlock the treasure map.

It's not a bad deal.

Since I'm already here,

I might as well collect

some legendary experiences

to brag about.

(Rong Shukuang) Since I can't see him anymore,

it doesn't matter where I go.

(When did the person)

(who unknowingly caused me heartache)

(stop being Lin Shaoci?)

(Instead...)

(Forget it.)

(He left so ruthlessly)

(and sent a marriage proposal to hurt me even deeper.)

(What's the point of thinking about him?)

Father.

Shukuang?

Father,

you have cared for me all these years

as if I were your own.

I will never forget that kindness.

There's no need for such words

between father and daughter.

I've made my decision.

I will marry Chu Tianyao.

Are you certain?

For Yuchi Manor's sake

and for myself, I am willing.

Also,

when I leave for my wedding,

please spread the word

that Rong Shukuang is taking the treasure key

and going to Mount Moye.

That way,

Yuchi Manor will no longer be the primary target

of the Ghost Valley Sect.

You're planning

to use diversion tactics?

Father, your kindness meant everything to me.

It's only right that I do something for Yuchi Manor in return.

This concerns the fate of the martial world.

How can I let you, a lady, bear this burden alone?

Shukuang,

you've already sacrificed too much

for Yuchi Manor.

I've made up my mind.

Please make the arrangements.

I want to leave for Mount Moye

as soon as possible.

All right.

We'll do as you say.

I'll handle everything

for your departure.

(Rong Shukuang, don't take it too hard.)

(Once I get the treasure key, I'll find a way to escape.)

(I'm smart)

(so I'll figure something out.)

Is everything ready?

Yes, everything is set according to plan.

Shaoci and Yingluo have already left the city.

I've also arranged for disguised guards

to ride ahead

and lure Ghost Valley Sect away.

All we need to do is travel with the main convoy

and meet up with Shaoci.

The journey will be long and arduous,

and returning won't be easy.

Shukuang,

I packed some dried fruits and money for you.

The journey will be exhausting.

So keep these just in case.

Thank you for your concern.

With you gone,

I'll have no one by my side anymore.

I'll miss you.

Take care of yourself and rest well.

If I get the chance,

I'll come back to see you.

The wind is strong outside.

Go inside before you catch a cold.

Wanci, don't worry.

We'll take good care of Rong.

All right.

Let's go.

Yingluo,

what are you doing?

Sister Rong told me to make sure

the carriage is soft and comfortable.

She said despite having no money,

the most important thing when traveling

is to enjoy the comfort of the journey.

She really never fails

to surprise anyone.

I'll help you.

Thank you.

Brother Shaoci,

Sister Rong has always been this way.

She's carefree and bold,

living life as she pleases.

I really wish I could be like her.

I need some fresh air.

Be careful.

Shaoci, take a break first.

Sending the bride will be full of obstacles and dangers.

You shouldn't have come

on this dangerous journey.

It's all right.

I'm not scared.

I'm the Thirteenth Young Lady of the Tang Clan.

I know how to protect myself.

Well, you already know

why I came along.

But

don't feel pressured.

Feelings aren't like herbs.

You don't just plant them and expect a harvest.

Some people may see it as suffering.

But as long as it feels right to me,

it's all good to me.

Someone is coming.

They are here.

Sister Rong,

how was your journey?

I can finally get out of here.

I've already set up your carriage.

Let's go.

Everything is arranged just as you want.

Take a look.

Are you satisfied?

Not bad. I'm very satisfied.

Shukuang.

You're not trying to make me back out of this marriage, are you?

I just feel it's rushed.

If you regret it, it's not too late to change your mind.

It's not rushed.

Stop being so fussy.

Let's go already.

Sister Rong, what's this?

For protection.

Have some water.

They've been traveling for a while now.

There's still no sign of the Ghost Valley Sect.

It looks like they won't be coming.

Let's go.

We should make a move too.

Feng Tingxie,

based on my experience,

there are definitely snakes

in this bamboo forest.

I'm not scared.

But I'm not so sure about you.

Tang Yingluo,

are you trying to scare me again?

Brother Shaoci, here.

Thank you.

Rong, say something to her.

Behind you!

You...

Tang Yingluo, come here.

Stop scaring him.

But I heard

this forest really has monsters.

And they especially like to eat those who are timid.

You're too old to be trying to scare people.

I'm not the timid boy I used to be.

Tomorrow, we'll take this route instead.

The villages along the way are abandoned.

So fewer people travel there.

It should be safer.

That works.

Once we pass the town, we'll reach the dock.

- Eat this. - Thank you, Sister Rong.

Get some rest.

We will switch shifts in four hours.

All right.

Let's go.

(The last time I watched the stars)

(was in the desert.)

They're so beautiful.

I wish I could take one home.

One,

two, three, four...

Young Lady Lin, do you need me to do anything for you?

You don't need to do anything.

Liu, you know this.

Father and Shaoci always favored Rong Shukuang.

Father trains her,

Shaoci cherishes her,

and even Yingluo and Feng

love following her around.

Now,

even Yan Shao is devoted to protecting her.

But me?

I have nothing.

Since childhood,

whenever I was upset,

you were the one who took care of me.

Then Shukuang saw how clever you were and took you away.

But in my heart,

I've always seen you as my real sister.

So, how could I just watch

you stay trapped here forever?

Go.

Go as far as you can.

Make sure they never find you.

You can't beat Yan Shao.

He's also from Misty Moon Village.

He was the disciple of Rong Shukuang's mother, Su Shiyu.

They grew up together,

and he has always protected her.

If I leave,

Master Lin and Young Master Lin will suspect you.

As long as you escape safely,

I don't care.

(Qiutong Town)

Mister,

bring a pot of hot tea.

Why did they come here?

This road has fewer travelers.

It helps avoid unnecessary trouble.

Thank you.

Mister,

this tea is cold.

We're closing soon.

Drink it or don't. I don't care.

Excuse me,

we've been traveling for a long time.

We just need some hot tea to warm up.

I like how you speak politely.

Let's find somewhere to rest for the night.

We'll leave early tomorrow.

Shukuang, what do you think?

I think

we don't need to look for one anymore.

Formation!

Wuwang Pavilion's Cross Formation?

Attack!

Watch out!

Be careful!

Again?

Stay there!

You coward!

You cheated!

So, how do you like

my homemade Eight Immortal Powder?

It's cheap, effective,

and quite the smell, right?

Are you all right?

Take her away.

Let's go.

Since they're out of danger,

why are they taking one of them?

Such recklessness

really leaves me feeling uneasy.

Capturing a Wuwang Pavilion disciple

will bring more trouble.

It's not safe for them to stay longer.

They should head to the dock as soon as possible.

Every time, our plans get delayed because of her.

Follow from a distance.

Stay on guard tonight.

Qi?

Is your last name Qi

or is your name Qi?

What's with that scoff, huh?

I was mocking you.

Wuwang Pavilion's Soul-Cutting Umbrella

can cut through iron, and its sharpness can split a hair.

How could someone worthless like you be worthy of using it?

Why does a proper young lady spend

all day fighting and killing?

Also,

do you think tying your hair up in a bun will fool anyone

into believing you're not disguised as a man?

We are not foolish.

I knew you were a girl

the moment I saw you among all those men.

If I didn't capture you...

What are you doing?

Don't try to scare us.

She's poisoned.

How did you react so fast?

It wasn't me.

It's the Wuwang Pavilion's poison, Peaceful Death.

Only Master has the antidote.

If we fail our mission,

we don't get the cure.

The poison flares up every two hours

until it kills us in agony.

If they had just left after escaping death

instead of wasting time capturing and interrogating her,

they would've reached the dock by now.

What's...

Master,

please give me the antidote.

Don't give it to her.

You failed your task and still expect a cure?

The Wuwang Pavilion never meddles in worldly affairs.

Master Hua, if you let us go,

we'll return this girl to you.

Bargaining

with a useless girl?

Wouldn't it be easier for you to cooperate?

You can leave.

But the key has to stay.

What if I say there is no key?

Will you wipe us all out?

Why don't you ask it instead?

Run!

This town is full of Wuwang Pavilion's spies.

There's a hidden passage that only I know about.

Follow me.

Wait a minute.

Why are you helping us?

You endangered yourself to get me the antidote.

I, Hua Qi, may be a Wuwang Pavilion disciple.

But I still know right from wrong.

So your name is Hua Qi.

Your name sounds pretty.

Did you just smile?

No, I didn't.

You did.

I did not.

Yes, you did.

This is a trap, isn't it?

If we go inside,

we'll fall into your trap.

Wuwang Pavilion's disciples will wait to ambush us.

Am I right?

Fine, I'll go in first.

If there's an ambush, I'll be the first to die.

You are just too scared, right?

I...

She nearly died from the poison just now.

It shouldn't be fake.

Let's go.

Master, we caught one.

Send a message to the Ghost Valley Sect.

Tell them I've found the person they're looking for.

Take her away.

Yes, Master.

Move it.
