Previously on Runes.

Hugo is not like other children.

This is his calf, it's his destiny.

I am doing everything I can to keep him safe.

In the last few days, my crops have been burned,

my farm was attacked by wolves.

Ulrich was right.

I am William of Normandy.

Well, I swore to my husband that when he returned

we would rule the Dutchy.

Go now and find William of Normandy.

You have my word.

The spell cast by Rollo to imprison Loki

is coming to an end.

And so our priority must now be to find the three stones.

Let them find the stones.

And when the moment comes, we'll strike.

Then you and I will free our father.

(dramatic music)

(thunder rumbling)

Now all we have to do is go to the cave

and give the stone to Algythe.

And imprison Loki forever.

The spell is coming to an end.

Loki will soon be free.

I can feel this power growing.

(speaks in foreign language)

(Hilda screaming)

(gentle upbeat music)

Mommy.

Hilda.

(dramatic music)

Hilda.

The big scary wolf is back.

What?

Lady Hela, behind you.

(Hela laughing)

Fenrir, say hello to Cecile.

Oh, I forgot, you two have already met, haven't you?

My harvest destroyed, all the missing animals,

it's all your fault.

Oh, my brother is the one who deserves your praise.

Your brother?

(Fenrir groaning)

Enough chitchat, we've come to collect something.

What do you want?

Oh, just your daughter.

Huh? No.

I'm not going anywhere with you.

Hilda, hurry and get inside.

I'm warning you, leave.

I was expecting such insubordination.

Hmm, that's a nice weapon you have there.

Know how to use it?

(dramatic music)

(both moaning)

Huh?

For a mere peasant, you're very skilled.

But I'm afraid I must insist.

I am a Viking.

And if someone threatens my family

I'll kill them if I have to.

(dramatic music)

Down brother, this won't take long.

(dramatic music)

(both moaning)

(swords clanking)

(dramatic music)

(both moaning)

(swords clanking)

Yeah, get her Mom.

Get out of here.

(both moaning)

(dramatic music)

(Cecile moaning)

Mommy.

Fenrir, take the girl.

Hilda, look out.

(Hilda screaming)

Hilda.

Let me go.

You stink.

Mom, help.

Hilda.

(dramatic music)

You, let go of her now.

Don't worry, your little girl will be fine.

We just need her for long enough to destroy the world.

(Hela laughing)

Hilda.

Mommy.

(dramatic music)

Hilda.

(gentle music)

So few of my animals are left now

and the ones that still live are terrified.

My cows no longer make milk, nor my goats.

I'm at my wits end, My Lady.

Save us, please. Dame Neel, I beg you.

Save us from this curse.

Oh, very well.

I shall send the captain of the guard.

Many thanks, Dame Neel.

This audience is over.

(dramatic music)

Hela has no respect for the ruler of Baligan.

She's mocking you.

Nonsense.

It's you that I cannot trust.

You used my son and his admiration for you

just so you could regain your post.

It's pathetic.

Do not believe just because you saved Neel

that the past is forgotten.

My only ambition is to serve

and protect the house of Baligan, like I've always done.

Upon my honor, I have served

both you and your husband loyaly.

I will bring you William of Normandy.

You gave me this mission and I will see it done.

Hmm?

(dramatic music)

(door slamming)

Is there news of Hela?

Still no word, Dame Neel.

(birds chirping)

(Hugo moaning)

Are you all right, Hugo?

I'm fine.

Huh?

(birds chirping)

(dramatic music)

Did you feel that chill?

It's not normal for this time of year.

Loki.

The centuries old ties that bind him

are beginning to weaken.

All right, if we're gonna save Normandy,

it's now or never.

(birds chirping)

(dramatic music)

Mm, but it's too early for the leaves to fall.

(dramatic music)

Oh no.

It has begun.

(dramatic music)

(Hilda moaning)

Just you wait until my mom catches you.

And my father he left on a boat, but he's coming back

and he has an ax, a big one because he's a Viking and.

What's going on?

Why it just get so cold?

Because something most extraordinary is about to occur.

And fate has honored you with an important part to play.

(Hela laughing)

(Hela whistling)

Huh?

(dramatic music)

(birds chirping)

Huh?

Wace, Wace.

(Hilda laughing)

Wace go tell my mom that.

But who are you?

You're not Wace.

Hela.

You found the entrance to the cave?

Yes, yes, well almost

Leave him Fenrir.

Bring us to the right place,

if you know what's good for you.

Hugo and his friends, the path they took to the cave,

well, it's a dead end.

Follow me.

(dramatic music)

(horse neighing)

(dramatic music)

(horse hooves clopping)

(dramatic music)

(Cecile panting)

I am coming Hilda.

(birds chirping)

(gentle music)

Ah, we finally arrived.

You okay?

Yes, don't you worry.

Well, looks like our adventure's almost over Wace.

(Loki growling)

Huh? Huh?

What was that?

Loki has begun to awaken.

He's growling.

(Lil' Golès moaning)

(Hugo moaning)

(dramatic music)

There you are.

Huh, huh?

(dramatic music)

Ah, so it's here that your traitorous ancestor

trapped our father, so long ago.

Hilda.

Alice.

(dramatic music)

Unhand her Hela.

First give me the stone

and perhaps then I'll let your little friend go free.

Ah.

Don't even think about it.

Without the stone we're all doomed.

There'll be nothing left to save.

(Hilda moaning)

Don't do it, Hugo, we'll kick their butts.

Not an easy decision,

is it, Hugo?

Take your time, take the whole day if you need it.

We're not in a rush.

We are waiting for someone.

(Hela laughing)

(dramatic music)

(Cecile panting)

Huh?

(birds chirping)

(gentle music)

But the tracks just stop.

That, that's impossible.

Where did they go?

Hilda?

Hilda.

Oh.

Hilda.

(Sleipnir neighing)

(dramatic music)

Who are you?

(Sleipnir neighing)

You're, you are magnificent.

Hugo, defeating Loki is our only chance.

Get in the cave.

Ah, you're not gonna listen to this old hag.

My arm is starting to weaken

and accidents are so hard to avoid.

Oh no, Hilda

What are we going to do?

There's no way we can take that witch and her giant wolf.

No, but he can.

(dramatic music)

(Yotu growling)

Wow a troll, we have a troll.

You get back here.

(dramatic music)

(Hilda screaming)

Lemme go.

Yotu protects my friends.

I'll take care of Loki.

I will protect them, My Lord.

I swear it.

You'll need me for the incantations.

Mm, come on then.

(Fenrir growling)

(Yotu growling)

(dramatic music)

You are not welcome.

(dramatic music)

Ah, it's a ring of life.

Great job, Yotu.

(dramatic music)

The troll cannot leave the circle.

Fenrir, hold off your attack.

(Fenrir growling)

Fenrir.

Ah.

Ah.

(dramatic music)

(Algythe coughing)

We're almost out of time.

(dramatic music)

All right, here we are.

The stone, Hugo, quick

Huh?

Right.

(dramatic music)

The Runes are revealed.

(gentle music)

Ah, this is the spell.

(speaks in foreign language)

It's up to you to release the magic of the Runes now, Hugo.

(gentle music)

(speaks in foreign language)

I really hope they're okay out there.

Maybe we should. Hugo,

this will require all your concentration.

Have faith, they will save the child.

Place your trust in them as they trust us.

Complete your mission,

or as all that we have done will be for nothing.

(gentle music)

You need only to be one with the Runes, Hugo.

(speaks in foreign language)

(Yotu growling)

We're done for.

Get off.

If you wish to survive, a word of advice,

you should run now.

I won't abandoned my family.

(dramatic music)

(Yotu growling)

Alice the warrior, you will guard the cave now.

No, Yotu.

(dramatic music)

(all coughing)

Hilda, Hilda.

(Hilda coughing)

Alice.

Hilda, Hilda, you're not hurt?

I'm okay, but what about the nice rock man,

he's not moving.

He left his own ring of life

to save us from the specters.

Goodbye rock man, we'll miss you.

(gentle music)

Wait, where's Hela?

She's disappeared.

Huh?

She must have snuck into the cave to try and stop Hugo.

Go and help them.

I'll, I'll stay here with Hilda.

(dramatic music)

(Fenrir growling)

He doesn't look too happy to see us.

(dramatic music)

Huh? Huh?

Cecile, Sleipnir, but.

(horse neighing)

Mom.

Alice.

Mommy.

Hilda.

Oh.

Oh, I was so worried.

Where's Hugo?

In the cave with Algythe, to stop Loki from escaping.

But Hela's in there too.

We have to go and help 'em.

(Fenrir growling)

(dramatic music)

Turstin's right, Mother, we have to stop Loki.

Bring Hilda back to the farm.

(speaks in foreign language)

One more time again with all the strength of the stone.

(speaks in foreign language)

Very good.

I'm all set.

(speaks in foreign language)

Ah.

That's good Hugo, we're almost there.

(dramatic music)

Ah.

Ah.

Ah.

Ah.

(speaks in foreign language)

(Algythe laughing)

(dramatic music)

(Algythe gasping)

(dramatic music)

(speaks in foreign language)

(dramatic music)

Ah.

What happened to the others?

Did you hurt my friends?

Me?

No.

But I have no doubt my brother will be joining us shortly

with a full belly.

(Hela laughing)

No.

She lies to distract you.

Do not be fooled by this evil sorceress.

Oh, somebody's tired.

Not surprising at your age.

You should choose better friends, Hugo.

Not children and old hags.

(Hela laughing)

Hugo, you must finish the spell.

(speaks in foreign language)

(all panting)

Turstin, look out.

Huh?

(both moaning)

Huh?

(dramatic music)

Ah.

Thanks Alice.

We can't stay here.

(dramatic music)

I can't hold on much longer.

(speaks in foreign language)

What's the matter, can't concentrate

because you're worried about your little little friends?

Don't fret, you'll be joining them again soon.

Your time has come apprentice.

Ah.

Oh, oh no.

(speaks in foreign language)

Hugo.

Hugo, hurry up.

Go Hugo.

Where's Hilda?

She's with my mother, she's safe.

Everything's all right.

Finish the spell.

Ah. Yes, finish it.

It's over Loki.

(speaks in foreign language)

No.

(speaks in foreign language)

(dramatic music)

Oh, you did it.

It really worked.

Loki's in prison forever.

No father.

No.

Little brats, you have no idea what you've done.

You'll pay for this.

We better hurry or we'll be the ones

locked away forever.

Don't just stand there, run.

(dramatic music)

We're too late, brother, it's done.

We need to go.

Ah, you, traitorous beast.

This is your fault.

(dramatic music)

(rocks crashing)

(all panting)

Huh?

Sleipnir.

Huh, huh.

Oh, huh.

(gentle music)

He sacrificed himself for us.

Yotu.

(gentle music)

(birds chirping)

Thank you my friend.

You were a true knight.

Algythe, you okay?

Yes, thank you.

I suppose that the magic to defend the cave

was just a little bit too intense for me.

You need rest.

We'll bring you back home, Algythe.

Ah-ha, maybe Sleipnir can help us.

(Turstin laughing)

Think he said yes.

(Turstin laughing)

We dodged death at least 10 times today.

And that's 10 times too many for me, little buddy.

Yeah, but what a story you have for the Grand Goblin.

He'll be really proud of you.

Hugo.

Huh?

Come on.

Coming.

(dramatic music)

(laughing)

(gentle music)
