in Herrin, Illinois,

Kelsey Groves
and her fiance, Chris,

live in a home
with a dark past.

A two-year-old who lived there
before them died tragically.

My name is Kelsey Groves,

and this is me
and my fiancee's video.

The people that actually
lived here before,

they had two
small children here,

and because something
had happened,

and the child had passed away
in the house.

I didn't know
that had happened here

until after I had lived here
for about,

I don't know,
probably six months.

The story
disturbed Kelsey,

especially because
she and Chris

had kids of their own.

She tried to move past
the house's dark history

until strange happenings
made it impossible

- for her to ignore.
- So you can hear footsteps

running up and down
the hallway all the time.

We have a dog, and she'll just

stare at things for a while,
and then she'll jump back

like something goes
to touch her,

but there's absolutely
nothing there.

We get all kinds
of weird things.

But perhaps
none weirder

than the night of the 30th
when Kelsey and Chris

were getting ready
for an evening out.

We had just drop our kids off
for the night,

um, at my mom's house
because I had

to take a shower,
and we were gonna go out,

you know, and I heard a noise.

You know, I was like,
did you hear that?

And he was like, "Yeah,
you know, what was that?"

And I popped my head
out of the curtain.

And when she does,
she sees this.

A small handprint
on their bathroom mirror.

Chris grabs his phone
and begins filming.

The mirror has
this handprint right here.

I don't know
if you can see it.

He first notes
its size.

It's really small
compared to my hand.

You see that? Look at that.

Then, watch closely

as Chris conducts
an experiment.

Now,
another funny thing is

I put my handprint
up here just earlier.

This one does not go away.
Mine will.

This one's still staying.

It's crazy.

Chris's handprints
have disappeared

while the phantom
handprint remains.

You seeing this, babe?
You see all my handprints?

Yeah,
they all disappeared.

It was unsettling
because it was...

it's such a small room,
and I'm like,

there's something
in the room with me.

It's still there,
it's crazy.

Like, I'm excited,
but I'm also scared

because I don't know

what exactly it is
that's in here with me.

We had even, you know,

the next day brought
our children in

to see if it had matched
their handprint.

My oldest, it was
way too small for him,

and my youngest can't even
reach the mirror.

This seemed to be something

out of one of these
classic horror movies

where you're in the bathroom,

the mirrors are all fogged up,

and this handprint emerges
from the depths.

And we get to see
along with them in real time

how quickly the handprints
they make fill in with steam.

Yeah,
they all disappeared.

Look, I've got one literally
right next to it.

And yet,
that first handprint,

it remains.

It's often believed
that mirrors

are portals
to other dimensions.

These doorways
can allow things

to come through.

Is this evidence of that,
or is this just evidence

of something knocking
on that door saying,

"Hello, I'm here"?

Given
the home's history,

Kelsey believes
she knows the answer to that.

It's the spirit

of the departed child.

I...
I told my fiance, I was like,

look, he came to see us again.

Because we've had
so many small things

that it would just
have to be a child.

I think it had
a little connection to it

because I'm a mom, you know?

It, kind of, makes
that link there.

The loss of a baby's life
is an unspeakable tragedy.

There is so much emotion
and pain tied up

in that moment.

And to know that,
that leaves its mark

on a place
makes perfect sense.

And you have to remember if...
if a child dies,

where's the spirit gonna go?

This is probably the only home
that, that child ever knew.

So it would stand to reason
that this would be the place

that it was still bumping
around in the night.

But surprisingly,
Kelsey says

she feels like the child

might not be the only entity
running around the house.

I know that
his spirit is here,

but I believe
we have others as well.

The energy is a little bit
more malicious, I think.

We had, like, lamps
fly off the counter.

We've had a knife
come out of the sink.

I think we need
to keep in mind

that friendliness
to two-year-olds

can look like
throwing objects around,

and making loud noises,
and, kind of,

generally stressing out
the adults in the space.

That child passed away
when it was two years old.

So it's barely educated,
in, like,

what's safe and what's not.

It definitely seems
like the activity

that's happening in that house
could be potentially caused

by just the child's
spirit alone.

Whatever it is,
Kelsey and Chris

have learned to live with it.

We try to, like,
brush off most of everything

unless it's, you know, like...
The... The handprint one,

it's like...
it's very prominent.

You... You can't ignore
something like that.

You just, kind of,
got to live with.

in Tuscola, Illinois,

Ainslie Heilich is
the co-owner

of a two-story building

with a tattoo shop
on its first floor

and an odd fellow's lodge
on its second,

both of which he helps to run.

Over the past nine years,
some strange activity

has led him to believe
that the building is haunted,

and he's managed
to capture some proof.

My name is Ainslie Heilich,
and I am one filmed the video.

Me and my business partner,
we've owned the building

for about nine years now,

and going into it, uh,
we, kind of, had been told

that there had been a lot
of paranormal activity.

We put in security cameras
because it's a tattoo shop.

You want to, you know,

make sure
your stuff's protected.

So we started, just by chance,

catching stuff on camera.
as it happened.

The first occurrence
is in 2016.

Watch as a box
of colored pencils

throws itself off the table.

A week later,
a pad of paper is pulled

from underneath the table.

Then two years later, in 2018,

Ainslie's decorative
Samurai sword

is somehow thrown
into the middle of the shop.

What we're looking at

is classic
poltergeist behavior.

There does seem to be quite
a bit of physical motion,

and in some cases,
a pretty substantial force

that's being used.

The sword on the wall
is clearly sitting

in a, sort of,
hook-shaped carrier for it.

So, it's not something
that can just tip forward,

and fall off the wall.

It moves like
it is flying off the wall,

and that's really compelling.

Ainslie posted
the videos online,

and it eventually attracted
the attention

of a nearby paranormal
investigative team

who were intrigued
by what they saw.

Hi, my name's Eleena Mullins.

And my name is Matt Mullins,
and we shot this video.

Matt saw that video
on YouTube,

and reached out

because it was actually
so close to home,

and asked, um, Ainslie
if we could just come

and investigate,

And Ainslie was like,
"I guess."

And so, Matt, Eleena
and their team

visited Ainslie's building
for a formal investigation

with Ainslie himself
tagging along.

And while they don't
find much downstairs

in the tattoo shop,

it's a completely
different story upstairs

in the odd fellow's lodge,

particularly when they employ

a more controversial form

of contact called
the Estes Method.

Moving.

Moving where?
Moving what?

The Estes Method
is a method that you use

on a paranormal investigation

to communicate
with the spirits.

And the way that works

is that one
of the investigators,

sort of, acts like
a human spirit box.

You'll put on a blindfold.

You put on headphones
that are playing white noise frequencies

so that you can't hear
what's going on outside.

There's a deep voice
coming through, but I can't make it out.

Who's this deeper voice man?

The theory is that if there's
any spirits in the room

they'll be able to manipulate
the frequencies.

And then the person
wearing the headphones can relay the words

that they're hearing
through the headphones.

I don't know what that was.
It was deep.

So, basically,
you're their microphone.

Yeah, they're channeling you.

- I'm here.
- Okay.

Can you tell me your name
if you're here?

And while Elena
is wearing the blindfold and headphones,

she is indeed channeled,

but not in the way
the team expected.

I feel like something's
pulling my head over here.

Someone or something
is pulling Elena's head 90 degrees,

and it's not letting go.

Guys, I can't turn
my head back.

I don't know where.

My head just started

being pulled and pulled
and just I couldn't move.

It was just like this,
like just being pushed like this.

And every time I tried
to put my face forward,

it would just come back
and it would just push and push.

I kept trying to figure out
what was going on,

but I couldn't hear anything.

I can't turn anymore.

Stop trying to turn my head.

I can't. Stop.

This is first for me
to see something

that could be very dangerous.

And you wonder, you know,
you've been choking,

ability to close someone's
windpipes if they can turn

someone's neck like this
and their head.

This is scary stuff when
this is actually happening,

Stop trying to turn my head.

Finally,
after nearly five excruciating minutes,

Come on, man. Stop.

she is released.

You okay?

The team wraps up
their investigation

shortly afterwards.

And though they didn't get
any specific answers

as to why the activity
was taking place,

both the investigators
and Ainsley

were more than convinced
that there was indeed a presence in the building

and it meant them
no real harm.

Elena's head turning
experience notwithstanding.

I don't think anything
was negative,

demonic or evil

or anything like that.

I think the spirits
are just moving around

doing what they used to do.

It was definitely a very
eye-opening experience

to actually kind of see
a little behind

what was happening.

alongside Percy Priest Lake.

When a strange shape
in the water catches her attention.

She quickly grabs her phone
and starts recording.

At first.

Wayuana is not quite sure
of what she's seeing.

But then the mysterious figure
dives below the surface

in a very revealing way.

This better not be
what I think it is.

It's a... It's a
mermaid.

It's a mermaid!

I saw a mermaid!

Hi. I'm Wayuana Demonbre
and I'm the one who recorded the video.

I went to the lake
just to vent.

It's just like my place
to basically, just to vent.

And all of sudden,
I saw somebody

swimming in the water
and they, like, disappeared.

To a point. I had to, like,
move my camera to find it.

And it got down underwater

like two minutes
or minutes of time,

and it would come back up

and the way it was, something
like it was playing.

Incredibly
no one else around the lake at that time

seems to take notice
of the apparent mermaid.

Okay,
I'm seeing

like, nobody noticed this
mermaid in the seat

like nobody see
this mermaid, bruh.

It felt like everything
stopped and it froze.

And I'm just looking
at everybody, trying to see if they've see it.

And nobody seen it but me.

It was like I was
looking past it.

And it was like,
it was invisible to them.

It's a mermaid.

It's a
mermaid!

And I was amazed.

I was really shocked.

I saw a mermaid!

What the

That is the exact
right response to have

when you see
something like this

swimming around in a lake.

This woman sounds genuine.
She is surprised.

She has no idea how to
explain what she's seen,

but she explains it to a T.

It's a mermaid in the water.

It's a
mermaid!

A human woman
wearing a mermaid tail

is not gonna be
able to swim that fast.

She's not gonna be able
to hold her breath that long.

The way that an actual mermaid
would be able to.

I've heard about people
have swimsuits that looks like fish.

This don't look like
no swimsuit.

It was see through
very transparent.

The gills are very sliming.

And the fins you don't see
no fingers, no nothing.

You could see the flippers
if you look very closely.

So, I was just like,

I don't care
what costume you put on.

It doesn't look like
anything I saw.

I'm there like that.

And while
mermaids are often portrayed as seductive,

kind hearted creatures
in popular culture,

the origin of their legend
is actually a little more depraved.

I heard myths but I know it's true.

I was scared
because I've heard legends that they'll call for you.

And if a mermaid sees you
and you speak to it

or you swim out
to it in the water,

they'll pull you down

and I'll keep you
down there for years.

They look like humans,
but when they pull you down under,

they'd look like ugly fish.

In a lot of stories
Mermaids are not all that nice

to the sailors
that they encounter,

certainly not
Disney's version of Ariel.

These were often like
sirens that would lure men to their doom.

In the Philippines,
there's something called as Sedona,

and they pretend that they're
drowning in the water.

So when you go over
to save them,

that's when they
pull you under and you.

So I don't really know
at what point we decided mermaids weren't scary.

For her part,

Wayuana is determined
to continue her search for more evidence.

I'm always looking to see
if I can find that mermaid

actually, every time
I go just to see if anybody else might see it too.

Like, I just want to just
experience it one more time.

Like, I'd have
more proof actually.

that I've seen
an actual mermaid.

and a dog

are captured

There's some
paranormal stuff going on around my house.

Dogs have earned
their man's best friend moniker for many reasons.

They're playful,

full of unconditional love
and most of all, loyal.

their value to humans

unique visual spectrum

can detect the presence
of ghosts.

completely invisible to us.

Just ask one man in Oklahoma
whose dogs went absolutely nuts

when they saw this.

August 2020,
in Wagoner, Oklahoma.

It's almost 10:00p.m.

And Adam McAdoo and his family
are sitting in their driveway,

relaxing
at the end of the day.

When suddenly their dogs

start barking
from the backyard.

My name's Adam McAdoo,

and I am the person
that shot the video.

My dogs in the back,

they just went
completely crazy on us

and nobody was around
and everything.

So I pulled up my phone

and check my cameras to
look around the back.

Adam is able to see

all of the feeds from his
home security system

on his phone.

And there was nothing there.

So we just kind of
kicked off and went on about our business,

And I got wondering later,

I was like what were
they working about?

So that's when
I went back there

and pulled up all four angle
cameras that I have.

When he does,

he finally sees what caused
the dogs to freak out.

First, a car drives by.

Look. So a vehicle
goes by my security camera.

Now watch right here.

Then seconds later.

Look. There's the kid.

A wispy,

childlike figure appears in
the middle of the street,

Right where the car
just sped through.

Out of nowhere.

And then...

Look, there's the dog.

A dog like figure,

almost transparent,
enters from the right.

Then a second
childlike energy

joins the duo.

Out of nowhere.

Originally, I was like, okay,
this has been a kid or something

and ,you know, it was like,
well, they couldn't know.

We were all sitting out
there at that time

because we remember the truck
that went by at first.

We're like, Well,
we were sitting out there when all that happened.

There was no kids
behind that truck.

No kids, no nothing.

And a vehicle just
went through.

So there's no way those kids
were in the street.

Everybody in my house
just kind of jaw dropped

and I didn't know what
to think at that point.

Were like, wow, we actually
caught something on camera

and they freaked
all of us out.

You see a vehicle
go by very solid and then,

after that, you see
these two shapes

running to the street
and appears to be a boy

and a dog
and they're translucent.

They're clearly
not solid shapes.

I was fascinated by the way
that these figures of the boy and the dog move.

It didn't seem 100% natural.

It certainly didn't look
like a boy walking his dog down the street.

They seem to b
in a sort of ethereal sense of play about it.

They seemed almost
lighter than air.

After we see these two shapes,

a third one emerges
in the left hand part of the frame

and that looks like
another childlike form.

It looks like it's almost
moving about on the fringes,

part of the action,
but not directly involved.

Adam put
the video online and got lots of feedback.

Some people suggested
that Adam researched the area

to see if anything might help
explain what he captured.

And after asking around town,

one particular legend
seemed to fit the bill.

Apparently, there was
a set of kids that had went missing,

and the bodies were found
over in the woods to the right of my house.

Apparently, these woods
right here, right next to my house,

there was two younger kids
found in there that were deceased,

and they were found
by a bunch of stray dogs.

The stray dogs kept going
in and out of the woods, in and out of the woods.

And finally, I guess
one of the homeowners there followed the dogs in,

and that's when they found
the bodies of the kids.

And I'm like, I'm never going
back in those woods again.

Are these dogs
and these children connected in the afterlife?

Are these children
fond of these dogs because they discovered them?

They were playing in
the woods, and these dogs gave their families closure.

It seems to me that
the intelligent energy

of the missing children
lured the dogs

to where their
demise happened.

And then again,
in spirit,

is being recognized
by a new set of dogs.

But, you know,
the owners' dogs that are barking hysterically

at these energies,

it paints the whole picture
and, and a whole story

that's actually pretty sad,
but also pretty amazing.

Look,
there is the kid.

But,
as the footage reveals,

while the story might be sad,
the spirits don't seem to be.

The only consolation
that I have with this whole footage is that

even though there was such
an awful thing that happened to two children nearby,

the energy and interaction
between the two children and the dog

seemed to be playful
and seemed to be lighthearted.

The way that I see,
they were just out there

walking their little
ghost dog,

so I don't think
they mean any harm or anything.

As long as it stays
peaceful, I'm good.

I won't have
to call in no priest and bless everything.

In Budva, Montenegro,
Esther Bartkiw is headed to the beach,

planning to snap a few
photos of the full moon rising over the Adriatic Sea.

But just as she arrives
and takes out her camera,

a bright shape in the sky
catches her attention.

And it's not the moon.

Okay, so I don't
know what this is,

but it's moving in
very strange patterns.

It's just stopped now.

I'm Esther Bartkiw,

and I'm the person
who filmed the video.

I noticed right above me,

there was this
big spotlights,

and it was so bright
like a floodlight.

When you go
to a football stadium and the, the lights are there

shining down on the crowd,
that's really what it looked like.

It was really big.

And then all of a sudden,
the spotlight started to move,

and I thought, okay,
this is not a spotlight.

So, it stopped again.

What the heck?

Super bright.

This was not a plane.

It was not a satellite.

It was just
an inner excitement.

I knew that this
was something really interesting.

What hovers like that?

This bright object
doesn't move like

a lot of things
that we would expect to see in the sky.

You can see that
it brightens up

and seems to get even bigger,
and it's self-illuminating.

It's creating a light
on its own, so this isn't reflecting the sunlight,

but it seems to be
light itself or made of that substance.

It seems to be
like changing, you know, what it is.

It looks like at one point,
it's a UFO craft-like thing,

and then all of a sudden,
it turns into a hyper white orb in the sky.

Whatever
this thing is, Esther believes it is aware of her presence.

It's like I feel like
it knows I'm watching it.

I could see the people
in the town close by.

Nobody was really noticing
this and I kept going,

"Oh, my gosh!
Can't they feel this?

Maybe I'm the only one
who was seeing this."

The mysterious,
glowing ball begins to flash.

It's blinking.

And
change colors... - And it's a red blinking.

...before finally disappearing
for good behind a nearby building.

Down, down,
down, down, down. Oh!

Part of me is wondering
if this craft

is just kind
of like trying to communicate something.

Well, if this
strange object is trying to communicate,

it picked the right person.

I do energy healing work.

I'm a spiritual mentor,
holistic therapist.

So I'm very in tune
with energies and what's happening in the sky,

and I really trust
my intuition.

I feel like it knows
I'm watching it.

It's those senses that
kept telling me that this was something to take note of.

What the heck?

I find that people
that are in tune to a certain vibration

spiritually, mentally,
physically

become beacons
for supernatural and, you know, alien encounters.

Whatever was
happening between Esther and the object,

this experience
reaffirms her belief in extraterrestrial life.

there is a life out there,

that we're getting visitations
from other galaxies.

For me, it was like, "Yes,
it's happening and I've had the pleasure of seeing it."

I feel they're making

For millions
of elderly people around the world,

a care home is where
they'll spend the last days of their lives.

As a result, death is
a common occurrence in these places

and thus the rumors
of them being haunted.

Which is what brought
paranormal investigator

Danny Duffy
and two colleagues

to an abandoned
care home in England.

And when they
looked around,

the residents who had
passed away there, had a simple message.

Whoa!

Get out.

October 2019.

In Cheshire, England,

Danny Duffy and two fellow
paranormal investigators,

Andrew and Olivia,

are on their way
to a care home that they have been told is haunted.

Hi, my name is Danny,

It's freezing tonight.

And only
a couple of minutes into the investigation,

the team sees their first
possible manifestation

of that haunting.

Bro! Bro!

Bro!

Whoa!

On request! You asked
for that to happen, and that happened.

The activity
we're seeing was happening on command.

And that is
the investigator's dream.

That's what we hope for.

We ask a question,
we get a response.

We say, "Can you
do something?"

And it's done.

- Bro, bro!
- Oh, my God!

My theory is that
maybe if this is an intelligent spirit,

it is somebody
who passed away in this care home

that wasn't necessarily
ready for it to happen.

So they're still
wandering these walls

because they
don't understand that they're dead.

Whatever it was,
it was having a negative effect on Danny.

And unfortunately
for Danny's physical well-being,

as they moved
through the building,

the activity continues.

Our door is moving.

Oh!

Sensing
an unhappy presence,

the team tries to make contact
using a makeshift spirit box.

Whoever's here,
do you want us to leave?

Does it make you angry
that we're here?

You say go away

if you want us
to go away.

Whoa!

What
just happened?

Watch again
as a door behind them slams shut,

as if in answer
to their question.

If you want us
to leave...

Whoa!

Even if an energy or spirit
is angry because you've entered their space

or disrupted their energy
in a form that they didn't like,

doesn't necessarily
make that spirit a malevolent spirit.

I mean, think about like
the old disgruntled man

that yells,
"Get off my lawn!"

It, it's a bombardment
of energy that

may be unwelcome
to the spirits in that place.

Oh, no, bro.
I'm shaking.

Malevolent or not,
it's enough to push Danny

and the team toward the exit
after about 25 minutes.

But first,
a quick confirmation.
