in which a murder-suicide
once took place.

in Pasco County, Florida.

Chris Lamia is exploring
an abandoned house

with a particularly dark
history.

I'm a little to a lot
freaked out.

In this room back here, I think
I already heard something.

Anyway, let's do this, guys.

My name's Chris Lamia
and I filmed this video.

Can you tell me your name?
And who you are?

The guy who owned the home
killed his wife,

put her underneath the stairs,
went upstairs,

and then he killed himself.

And I believe that they weren't
found for a few days.

Are you upstairs?

Sometimes, when you go
into a home,

you automatically -- you sense
that something's not right.

Were you harmed in this house?

It's just one of those places,
man.

It's just -- it's fire.

It's crazy.

If you're in this room

and you were harmed
in this house,

can you tell me?

And sure enough, after just a few minutes of walking around,

Chris begins to experience the
telltale signs of a haunting.

I think
I heard something.

This is insane.
This is absolutely insane.

Knock if you're a female.

I hear it. I hear. I hear it.

The activity surrounding him

is already starting
to exhaust Chris.

Alright, uh...

This is crazy.

Regardless, he heads to where
he feels the center

of the haunting is --
the closet under the stairs.

Alright. I'm going to head in
this closet...

...where the murder victim
was found.

What a weird feeling,
being in here.

My legs are just...
trembling.

Then, suddenly...

So--

...the door to the closet slams
behind Chris...

Oh, no way.

No way!
No way.

...and won't open.

As if someone -- or something --
is behind it.

Hello?!

Oh, no. No way.

Oh, it's happening.

Oh.

And it's about to get
a whole lot worse.

Oh, my God.

Pounding...

Oh, my God.
Let me out of here please, God!

...from all sides of the room.

Alright. I'm not gonna hurt
you, so please stop!

My initial thought was,
"Uh-oh, I'm in trouble."

And I felt like

whatever was holding me
against my will was evil,

you know, and it was it was
horrifying to me.

This was incredibly intense.

I just found myself clutching
my metaphorical pearls

the entire time, screaming
at my screen like,

"Let me get him out of there!"

Chris is freaking out.

But is he in any real danger
from whatever entity is outside,

or perhaps inside, of this room?

OK, let's just assume
that the murder victim

is trapped here.

This is not a spirit

that necessarily wants
to take vengeance or is angry.

It could be stuck
in the emotional state

it was when it died --

fear, confusion, terror --

and it's just acting out
in essentially self-defense.

The spirit that's there with him

is probably just as scared.

So I feel like they might

be creating this
feedback loop of fear

and just escalating
everything together.

Let me out of here please, God!

But Chris doesn't believe

he was just dealing
with the victim of the crime.

Alright. I'm not going to
hurt you, so please stop!

I definitely think there were two spirits in that home.

There was something sweet there
that was trying to get out,

and then I think it was just,
there was something else there

that was battling the sweetness.

I promise I'm not here to
hurt you. Please stop!

What happened was,
is he empathized

with the victim situation

and therefore triggered
the energy of the predator

to follow suit.

What's going on in this house

didn't lead any evidence
to the fact

that the girl
was haunting this home.

It lead evidence the fact that
the thing haunting this home

was the negative aspect
consciousness and energy

of the predator
that lived there.

Then, finally...

I think maybe whatever it was

that locked me up in the closet

might have sensed
that I was just so worn down.

I think they just realized
that's enough,

and, lo and behold,
I'm able to get out of there.

Chris leaves immediately

with no plans to return.

This is definitely a place
that I don't even want

to drive down this same street
that that house is on.

It was probably one of
my top three scariest homes

I've ever been into,

but by far it was the scariest
situation I've ever been into.

First, a sound
from the staircase.

Then, a shadow figure.

It's gone.

But then, Franco's bedroom door
slams by itself.

This incident is just
one example

of the terrifying
paranormal phenomena

that Franco has captured
in his home.

And it's been
happening for years.

And lately, the activity

seems to have picked up.

Watch as just two weeks later,
the shadow figure reappears.

This time, even more boldly.

Before, again, disappearing.

And there was more,

including an incident involving
the shower in Franco's bathroom.

Franco is terrified.

This is such a reciprocal entity
that requests to do things --

the turning on the shower.

The really clear shadow right
in the corner of the staircase

that then disappears
when he goes and looks at it.

And you could see
its glowing eyes,

and at first I thought,
"OK, that's the cat."

But then it seemed to rear up
and gained height,

something that that cat
with its color of fur

wouldn't have done --
couldn't have done.

And he was too quick.
He was on it.

The shadow man phenomenon
is really interesting

because it's hard to pin down

exactly what
their motive would be.

Oftentimes you simply see them
slipping from one darkness

to the other, the shadowy corner
to this shadowy corner,

that sort of thing,
out of the peripheral your eye.

But nobody really seems to know
exactly what these things are,

where they come from,
or what their intentions are.

But they're certainly
terrifying.

The second I saw
the shower video,

I assumed that there was
a person hiding out of frame,

turning it off and on.

And then, when he goes deeper
into the shower

and you can see clearly
that there is nobody there --

You got yourself
a haunting.

And Franco believes he knows exactly the reason why.

A spirit board --
used by his father

and his father's friends
a decade ago,

A lot of people who believe
in the practice

of using spirit boards

say that when you invite an
entity into your living space,

you have to actually
ask them to leave

before you close the session
with them.

Otherwise, they could
be here to stay.

Of course, even after
you ask them to go,

it's still up to them
whether they want to or not.

If this entity has been
in the home for 10 years,

it's possible that it's grown
some significant power,

and anyone that's spent time
in a haunted house

knows that a powerful entity
is a dangerous entity.

Thankfully, Franco says,

the activity has finally
started to cool down.

But that doesn't mean
he's not on edge.

and, fortunately, not real.

Or so we'd like to tell
ourselves.

Because someone in Indonesia
may have captured proof

that the dead
are coming back to life.

A mourning family
surrounds a coffin

that's just been lowered
into the ground when...

Did you see it?

Watch the coffin's window
closely

as the deceased's hand

seems to suddenly appear
and press against it.

What the is that?!

It looks like a hand, it looks
like it's lifted in farewell,

and then it looks
like it stays there.

If it had been
a blurry movement

across the front of that window,

that would have been
frightening enough,

but the lifting of a hand
and then holding it there,

I think, made
this 900 times scarier.

What could possibly have caused this alarming movement?

Is this poor person
in this coffin

suddenly waking up to see
all their loved ones

standing around them as dirt
is being piled on?

The thought
is just nerve-racking.

Obviously, the first logical
answer you would

think of would be,
it's probably rigor mortis.

But that's really not right
in this case,

because rigor mortis is a very
temporary condition that sets in

as the ligaments and tendons
sort of set in the corpse.

And once they have set,
they remain stationary.

How could rigor mortis
make your hand go up?

If it's down,
it would have already been up

and then you'd have
to put it down,

and then would go up
immediately.

There's no delayed reaction
in rigor mortis.

I am blown away
and really freaked out.

OK, so if it's nothing natural that's causing this,

what does that leave us with?

I think when people see a video
like this,

the first thing that comes
to mind is a zombie apocalypse.

McNEILL: Or is this some sort of
classic vampire scenario

where a dead body
has achieved new life?

Clearly, if it's a dead person
coming back to life,

the last thing you want to do

is open the lid on that coffin.

If that dude's dead,
we have things to worry about.

Or could it simply
be a mischievous spirit?

Maybe even the newly-freed
spirit of the corpse

in the coffin.

In the paranormal,
we're often interested

or even obsessed
with the concept of the spirit

leaving the body -- when does
the soul vacate the body?

And if it is nearby, say,

at a funeral or a wake...

...can it retake residence
in its former body?

If we're going to go
with the theory

that spirit can manipulate
the physical world

and interact
with the physical world...

Oh, my God!

...we have to say that a spirit

can manipulate
their former body.

And I'm going to
tell you right now,

that is something that I'm going
to try to do when my time comes,

because how cool would that be?

Whatever is happening here,

it's absolutely terrifying.

I wanted it to be a reflection
on the glass.

That's what I wanted.

I wanted it to be that someone
standing over the grave

had, like, stuck their hand out,
and I was seeing a reflection,

but we can see the people
standing over the grave.

That clearly didn't happen.

Sheesh. This one stresses me
out.

on this hotel bed,

This does not look like
one hotel bed

that you're going to get a good
night's sleep on the road in.

From a paranormal perspective,

the hobby of antiquing
can be a little risky.

Because despite how quirky
and unique a particular piece

might seem, the fact remains
you don't know where it's been.

Or, more importantly,
what might be attached to it.

One man may have learned
that lesson the hard way

when he brought home
an odd antique

and some kind of entity
tagged along.

February 2020,
Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

TJ Bunch,
a member of a touring show,

is at a hotel
during some off time,

sitting on the edge of his bed
playing video games

when all of a sudden, he senses
something behind him,

turns around,

and sees this.

The hotel bed sheets
move up and down on their own,

with nothing in sight
that might be causing it.

Watch again, zoomed in.

TJ is sure his mind
is playing tricks on him,

so he turns on the light
by the bed to get a better look.

But it's still happening

and TJ is totally freaked out.

I'm TJ Bunch,
and I filmed the video.

When I turned around,
it was like that

instant shock, like, holy crap.

Like I did all these checks
after just to make sure,

like, "OK, I did see
what I saw."

I looked around the bed
and I looked to see like,

is there a possible way,
like, it was moving

and the air vent
was all the way by the door

and through this,
like, little hallway thing,

so I was like, "OK,
it can't be the air vent."

This does not look like
one hotel bed

that you're going to get a good
night's sleep on the road in.

This was very unsettling.
I have absolutely no idea

what that is and I've never seen
it before.

The movement feels like
breathing,

like it's inhaling, exhaling,
and it's very, very creepy.

TJ posted the footage
on his social media

and his followers
were freaked too.

He was sure it was
something paranormal,

but had no idea
why it was happening to him.

Then, while re-watching the
footage, it suddenly hit him.

At the time, I was traveling
with a touring show,

which is really great,
because I get

to collect antiques
and cool things on the way,

and I went to this one
antique store, got a few things,

and I actually have the thing
right here

that I got before the events
start happening.

It was mummified bat.

A mummified bat,

which just so happened
to be on the nightstand

right next to where
the activity was happening.

And as TJ brought the bat
from hotel to hotel,

the activity seemed to move
with it.

After that, some, like,
really weird stuff

started happening
the next few weeks

in several more hotels,
whether it was that or not.

Like, I would place
something down, go to work,

and then it would be moved.
Or, like, just certain

like little knickknacks I have
that are usually around my room

just completely vanished.
Never saw them again.

So could this taxidermied bat

somehow be the cause
of the activity

that seemed to be
following TJ around?

Any time you have antiques,

taxidermy,

weird objects,

a lot of times
there's attachment there

that you don't even know about
until you get it home

and find out the hard way.

And you gotta be careful what you pick up in antique stores.

It's not like bringing home
a stray dog,

you're going to bring
home something

that you're not going to like.

Finally, after a few weeks,

all of the bizarre activity
stopped.

And TJ hasn't experienced
anything similar since.

All of a sudden,
it just kind of went away.

Nothing ever happened
after that.

It was like, "Oh, OK,
this is actually happening.

This is what
I'm seeing right now."

And then it was just kind of
like this, I don't know,

calm sensation after everything
that happened.

McNEILL: It may be that
a haunting disappears

once it no longer has an impact,

if that entity or that energy
has communicated

what needs to be communicated,
which maybe is just,

"Hey, I'm here,"
then it may not have

a need to communicate
anything further beyond that.

Or, we become desensitized
to it,

which is probably
the more likely explanation.

We are so consciously aware of
things that we don't understand,

things that make us anxious,
things that worry us.

And the minute we've resolved
those things in our mind,

we move on to new things
to be anxious about.

like bright white objects

that moved sort of
in tandem with each other.

At first I'm like,
"Oh, that could be,

like, two balloons together."

But as he starts to follow
these two little crafts

that are constantly
rotating around each other,

you start looking closer

and you see what looks
kind of like this little,

I don't know, but like little
sonic resonation around them.

And what's perhaps
even more interesting

is how John claims these
extraterrestrial interactions

came about in his life.

I started in 2013.

John used his experience as a classically-trained guitarist

to musically communicate
with the universe.

And to John, the results
were undeniable.

This is one of his compositions.

I can use my guitar,
but I can also just play

these same pieces in my mind
and it has the same effect,

and they can recognize that,
and they know it's me,

and they come in,
and we interact.

and then all hell broke loose.

This place is really creepy.

It's when the haunting takes
that final,

incomprehensible step

from happening around you

to happening within you.

Such was the case with
an unfortunate man in Indiana,

and when a group
of paranormal investigators

tried to rid his home
of the parasite...

. Whoa!

...they came face-to-face
with its wrath.

Spring 2018,
in Muncie, Indiana.

Josh Fourman, his two brothers,
and a friend

are investigating a home

that has its current residents
spooked.

My name is Josh Fourman,

and I'm the one
that filmed the video.

I was contacted by a family

that were experiencing all kinds
of activity inside their house,

and it seemed like
a lot of the activity

was focused more
towards the basement.

And as we got to speaking
with the homeowners,

that's when we found out
the history of the house.

Josh spoke to Kevin, the father of the family,

who informed him
of the house's dark past,

centered around
the mysterious death of a man

in the basement.

The basement --

and even talking to
previous owners of the house --

everybody that's
ever lived there

was afraid of the basement.

And the guy
that had passed away,

he was always afraid
to go down to the basement,

and for whatever reason,
the day that he passed away,

he went to the basement,

and that's where
they found his body.

Kevin also described the bizarre things that were happening

to him since moving in --

burning sensations,

headaches, sleep paralysis,
and scratches on his body.

But it was
Kevin's emotional state

that was the most concerning.

Once Kevin started talking
about the darkness of his dreams

and his suicidal thoughts,

we knew immediately that we had
to get Kevin and his family

some help, because his life
really did depend on it.

This is an example of a really
dangerous haunting, if you will.

Sometimes you get an entity
that seems to focus

on one person --
singles one person out.

It makes that person
feel terrible --

mood swings, depression,

thoughts of self-harm
or suicide --

these kind of things can happen
to one particular person

in a home while everyone else
seems to be completely fine.

It's really a scary phenomenon
when it does take place.

Walking inside the house
for the first time,

you really got this dark
and ominous feeling,

and you just knew
in the back of your mind

that something wasn't right
with the place.

Once we shut the lights off,

it's like somebody
flipped a switch

and the activity just took off.

Are you recording?

The group begins by
setting up a baby monitor

in the basement
and listening from upstairs,

and just a few minutes later...

My God!

Listen again.

The sounds of something
dragging on the ground

in the basement
are picked up by the monitor,

while the camera in the basement
shows nothing.

Creepy.

But it's not until Josh goes
into the basement by himself...

My name is Josh, can you
tell me your name, please?

...the rest of the team
listening from the living room,

that the entity truly
makes itself known.

Gentleman who died
in this basement...

Josh tries to ask
the entity questions.

...can you communicate with me.

And as he's waiting
for a response...

! Whoa!

Watch again from another angle

as the pipe is dragged off
the table.

! Whoa!

The scariest part for me

was definitely the pipe moving.

I remember right before the pipe
fell, the temperature dropped.

It just felt like somebody
was in the room with me,

and then, you know,
all hell broke loose.

! Whoa!

That pipe falling off
was the sign that

that investigator asked for,

and was also what the spirit
wanted to convey --

to scare the investigator
away from that location,

because it was pretty evident

that whoever was still
haunting that house

was someone that didn't want
the investigators there.

! Whoa!

I didn't realize,
when I was having

all these experiences alone
in the basement,

my brothers, you know, they were
having these mysterious voices

come across the device
up in the living room.

In fact, less than 30 seconds

after the pipe falls
in the basement,

the group upstairs records
a terrifying EVP.

Did you hear that?

.

Listen again as something on the baby monitor says,

"Get out of this house."

Did you hear that?

.

McNEILL:
This is a cool scenario...

. That about gave me
a heart attack.

...the narrative evidence from
the person who's experiencing

these hauntings
really sort of clicks

with what
the investigators find.

They got some
compelling footage --

that pipe sort of slithering
down off the table

when nobody touches it.

Whoa!

The EVP saying,
"Get out of this house" --

this idea of a malevolent
presence in the basement

that does not want
anyone messing with it.

Which is why the group cleansed the place before they left.

Any and all spirits, you must
now exit through this doorway

and never return.

After the investigation,

we did do a cleansing on
the home, and, fortunately,

Kevin and his family
stopped experiencing activity.

So I believe whatever
was in the basement

just needed to cross over.
