Jeffrey Vercaigne
is an urban explorer

with a penchant
for the paranormal.

He has taken on a challenge
to remain inside this abandoned

and supposedly haunted chateau
for 30 minutes by himself.

As the story goes, this estate,
Maison Duverant was built

in 1928 by a noble family.
During World War II,

It was used as a hospital by the
Baroness Marguerite Duverant.

Following the war,
and after most of her

family members passed away,

the youngest daughter, Isabelle,
lived alone in the home

until 1980.

In the decades since,
people have reported

seeing a woman in white
haunting the abandoned home.

Now, Jeffrey is here to see
if the rumors are true.

And just seconds
into his challenge,

he gets a feeling
that they are.

and this is my video.

There's an incredible amount
of energy

that it takes
to interact with spirit,

and that energy comes from you.

So feeling drained,
feeling a heavy pressure

on your chest is common.

Feeling like it's hard
to breathe,

that's a common occurrence.

Despite his
immediate discomfort,

Jeffrey forges ahead
with the challenge.

And things go from uncomfortable
to downright scary.

As the faint sound of footsteps

Against his better judgment,

Jeffrey follows the noises
to the second floor.

The banging,
the footsteps,

all of these noises were really,
really loud and clear.

It sounds like something
trying to get his attention.

This isn't just oh, hey,

I'm going about my business
upstairs as a spectator.

This is I want youto notice
that I'm here

and come check this out.

Could it be the sounds are leading, Geoffrey, to this...

A white dress
hanging from the ceiling.

Then seconds later.

What sounds like a woman's
scream or a high pitched laugh.

That shriek sent a chill
down my spine.

Moreover,
it is compelling to me

because it happens right after
the investigator discovers

that white dress
hanging from the ceiling.

That almost suggests that
there is intelligent phenomena.

The noises continue,
and Jeffrey,

not even halfway through
his 30 minute challenge,

is too freaked out
to keep going.

I know that 30 minutes
doesn't seem like that long,

but when you're in the presence
of some sort of haunting,

the longer that you are there,

the more energy
you're giving to this haunting

and the more powerful it'll get.

Safe, at last.

But it wasn't over yet.

When Jeffrey got home,

he reviewed his footage
and saw that his camera

captured something terrifying
on the second floor,

that his eyes had not.

Watch carefully,
as a dark figure

walks past the doorway
in the background.

So was this shadow
the woman in white?

Or another lost soul trapped
in this place for all eternity?

With the history of the chateau,

it would make sense that there
would be many a ghost there,

many a spirit --

You have the fallen soldiers,
you have the doctors,

you have the family --

There's a lot of opportunity
for paranormal activity here.

Jeffrey is just glad

in Mesa, Arizona.

After putting his kids to bed,

D.J. Maier steps outside
for a smoke.

A few minutes later,
he looks up and sees this.

A bright round object
floating in the sky.

My name's D.J.
and this is my video.

Look at that.

It looked like a perfect
blurry circle.

It had a pink orange-ish,
lava color to it.

And right in the center of it
was a big bright light.

No navigation lights.
You couldn't have missed it.

Holy

It didn't make any sound
at all whatsoever, no fuzz,

no propeller sound,
no jet propulsion, nothing.

What was really eerie about is,
I'm not going

to say it was flying.
I'm going to say

it was like floating,
like it was artificial.

It shouldn't have been there.

What in the.

What is that thing?

The UFO was visible
for a few moments,

then starts to go out of view.

So D.J. runs after it.

Did it stop?

He then gets into his car to see if he can catch up to it.

And that's when things
get really weird.

I got my car,
and I noticed as I'm leaving,

all the electricity's out.

So that thing just shut off all
the electricity,

over where it flew.

The entire neighborhood is in darkness.

That shut down power
over all this.

D.J. is beside himself.

And then,
has a terrifying thought.

I don't know if we're
under attack or what.

I felt scared, amazed,

intrigued and just mystified
all at the same time.

I can't describe it all.

All the electricity's out. All
the electricity's out.

So I called 911 and asked them
if anybody else

had reported that -- I told
them the area that I lived at.

And they said they had gotten
no such calls about that.

And they thanked me
for the call. That was it.

This is crazy.

Power is out for a good 15
to 20 minutes.

The neighbors were outside
and I had asked them

if they had seen anything.

They just said, no.
I just don't get that.

I don't know how. I was the only
one that saw that.

So what was it that D.J. saw?

And did it have anything at all
to do with the power outage?

Is it a coincidence?
I don't know,

but it looks like a duck
and quacks like a duck, right?

Look at that.

And why didn't
anyone else see it?

As far as lights in the sky go,

this one wasn't too flashy.
It wasn't too showy.

You would have assumed
it was a plane.

You would have assumed
it was a star.

But the fact that it started
moving at the speed

that it did coinciding
with a neighborhood blackout

makes you think, alright.

Was it here to do something?

All the
electricity's out.

And I had just recorded that.
I caught it.

If it really is a UFO zapping
out the power in this area,

it's sort of disconcerting
because,

in the eventuality that we
might have to defend ourselves,

all of the instruments
at our disposal will be useless.

I don't know if we're
under attack or what.

This certainly wouldn't be
the first instance of a UFO

causing
some sort of power outage.

In fact,
back on November 9, 1965,

the entire Eastern Seaboard

pretty much went down
in a massive blackout.

And what makes that most strange
is the fact that right before

the power went out in multiple
locations throughout that area,

people reported seeing
strange lights in the sky,

Flew directly over
my house this way.

And it like shut power off.

I'm not joking with you guys,
this is crazy.

Unable to figure out what happened that night,

D.J. tried to find out
more information

from his electric company.

I went to the outage calendar
on their site,

seeing if there was
any recent graphs

of any outages in my area.

Nothing.
There was nothing.

Yeah, right.

Now, here's a morsel
for the conspiracy theorist

in all of us,

the power company
chose not to say anything.

What do they know?
What are they hiding?

Whenever I hear about
power outages

in relation to UFO activity,

my immediate thought is always,
"It's the government."

It's a common tactic to use
the cloak of darkness

to either distract people
from what's going on in the sky

or to simply make you
not see what's happening.

- So it's probably the government.
- That thing just shut off

all the electricity over where
it flew.

- That is nuts.
- Even if this was

an extraterrestrial in nature

and it was the U.S. military
just testing out some new device

that can knock out the power
of an entire town.

That also scares me.

Whatever it was
that happened that night,

it's an event that D.J.
will not soon forget.

In terms of what I've seen,

all's I can say is,
it was life changing.

And he plans to do whatever he can to be prepared just in case.

Is this dog
playing with a ghost?

Ever notice how dogs
will sometimes act as

if something
or someone is nearby,

even though it's clear
that no one is there?

They could be simply staring
at a wall,

barking at nothing,

or cowering for
no apparent reason.

just maybe,
they're seeing a ghost?

One couple in New Jersey
has good reason

to believe their dog
has not only seen a ghost,

she actually played with it.

in Jackson, New Jersey.

Dan Mooney is working from home,

his dog, Bella, is playing with
a stuffed toy nearby.

Suddenly...

Did you see that?

Watch again.

As the toy Bella is playing with

is suddenly ripped from her
mouth and flung across the room.

My name is Carlee.And I'm Dan.

And this is our video.

I was sitting right here
and my dog is just sitting

on the carpet,
laying there.

She's playing with her toy.

All of a sudden,
the toy just jolts

and she goes to run after.
I'm like, wait,

you, you didn't throw that,
like you went after that.

I was freaked out.

I was in the other room
when it happened

and I walked out of the bedroom

and I just see the color of
his face pretty much leave,

and he's like, "You got to
check the camera."

So we had looked at the video
and I was like,

does this look weird to you?

Because, like,
it looked weird to me

because I saw it fly
out of her face

and then it was
on the camera was.

Okay, that isweird.

If this is, in fact,

caused by some sort
of paranormal force.

It's, it's number one,

a pretty powerful one
and a very deliberate one.

The thing is ripped away
from the dog in such a way

that it actually projected
across the room

and the dog seemed to have
a pretty good grasp on it.

The dog doesn't seem
particularly frightened

or freaked out.
We certainly see videos

sometimes of animals

reacting to a spectral presence
with fear, hackles raised,

fur standing on end,
backing away defensive posture.

So this is either an entity
that is very, very benign

or an entity that

this dog has interacted with
on a regular basis.

If a spirit can
interact with a person,

for sure it can interact
with a dog,

I would much rather interact
with a dog as a ghost.

They're usually not screaming
at you,

telling you to "show yourself!"

Though Carlee and Dan
were convinced

that something paranormal made
the toy fly away,

they weren't too concerned.

Until three months later,

when another inexplicable event
happened in their home,

I was sitting on the couch
and I was on my phone

on the corner of my eye,
I keep seeing this shadow

like pop up
and down behind the couch.

Someone was playing hide
and seek and it freaked me out.

So I ran into bedroom.

After she saw that,
I was in the bathroom,

the door, which I had closed,
opened.

So I actually ended up
getting sage

and I cleaned the house.

We slept with the door locked
that night.

Was this apparent shadowy entity somehow related

to what happened with Bella?

If they saw a shadow person around the same time,

I would have to assume
it has something to do

with this activity.

Shadow figures almost always,
perhaps unfairly,

are understood to be malevolent,

not necessarily demonic,
but not friendly,

not the kind of presence
you want in your home.

If I thought that a shadow
person was playing with my dog,

I would be worried.

Nothing out of the
ordinary has happened

since they saw
the shadow figure.

But Dan and Carlee
are keeping their eyes peeled

for more paranormal activity,
just in case.

I've been setting the camera
every night

to view the full living room,

so when I wake up in the morning
from the motion sensor on,

I want to see if something's
been moving around at night.

As for Bella, she no longer
has to worry about a ghost

stealing that particular toy
ever again.

I'm pretty sure she ate it,
after that. Yeah.

looked up to the sky

and seen a cloud that's shaped
like a familiar object?

It could be an animal,

a heart,

or something
that's symbolic to only you.

It's a phenomenon otherwise
known as pareidolia.

When the brain perceives
a meaningful image

or pattern in random objects.

But one man in Canada
challenged the theory

that our minds are conjuring
these familiar forms up

when he captured
this undeniable face in the sky.

A face. Holy freak.

It's August 2011
in New Brunswick, Canada.

A storm is brewing near
Denis Laforge's house.

As the clouds are building,

he decides that this is
the perfect time

to try out the camera
on his new phone.

My name is Denis
and this is my video.

My wife told me, look at those
interesting clouds,

you should take
a video of that.

Said, Oh yeah, okay, you're
right.

So I stepped outside and I saw
these really weird

cloud formations
start to form.

After the video was done
and I showed it to my wife

in the house,

says, well, look at all
these faces within the video,

like it kept changing and
morphing into something else.

It was eerie, it was scary
at the same time.

Watch closely.

At first,
Denis captures a cloud

that looks somewhat like a pig.

Interesting, but let's face it,
not too bizarre.

But then Denis pans
around the sky

to see what else he can find.

And finally lands on this.

A cloud that quickly morphs
into a huge face.

As the cloud moves
across the sky,

it becomes more
and more detailed.

To a mind blowing degree.

Free Denis and his
wife are stunned.

I put it on YouTube,
obviously.

I got e-mails that evening
and the next day

saying that I had Photoshopped
this and what not.

And not really being really
tech savvy, at Photoshop.

I'm like, What's that? I didn't
even know what the term was.

So obviously I didn't do
any Photoshopping whatsoever.

Some days I think it's just
a weather anomaly,

but to a certain extent there is
some sort of sign there,

what it means,
I wouldn't even fathom a clue.

The detail of his face
was amazing.

You could see the cheeks,
the jaw, the brow,

even the expression that was
making as it opened its mouth.

And for a second, I was
expecting it to say something.

Now, this could very easily be blamed on pareidolia,

but even I have to admit
that watching this video,

this looked exactly like a face.

I mean, I couldn't have
drawn this any better.

I definitely saw a face
in those clouds.

And I couldn't help
but to think of Zeus,

the god of the heavens,
of clouds, of thunder --

or some sort of ancient deity
in the sky.

Faces that appear in nature are always significant.

We tend to be drawn to the idea
that the natural world

that our planet might want
to face us the way we face it

with a human appearance
and human characteristics.

So to see a massive human face
looking down at us from the sky

constructed
of the physical elements

that are available
in the celestial heavens.

That's a pretty impactful
experience.

Face. Holy freak.

The meaning behind
the incredible cloud formation

that Denis captured on camera,
nine years ago,

remains in the eye
of the beholder.

And Denis feels lucky
to have filmed

what's captivated nearly
four million viewers online.

It's a conversation piece,
to say the least,

now, after these many years

It's like obviously
it's died down.

But every once in a while
I get asked,

Aren't you the one who took that
video there back in the day?

And they have their own version
of what they think it is,

which I always enjoy hearing.

That's always kind of cool.

A farmhouse
of horrors in Pakistan.

Almost every culture has their own type of terrifying spirit.

In the greater Middle East,

it's a mischievous entity called
jinn.

According to folklore,
jinn is a shapeshifter

that can take any form --
such as black smoke,

an animal, or even a human.

And some say it has the ability

to possess people
or follow them home.

A group of paranormal
investigators in Pakistan

believe they captured proof

of one of these
frightening entities

living in this
abandoned farmhouse.

And it's something
that they will never forget.

It's January 2020 in Pakistan.

These three men are about to
investigate a farmhouse believed

to be haunted by a jinn.

Sometimes referred to as a jann.

And before they even
stepped foot inside,

they are invited in.

Naturally,
they're a little creeped out.

But decide to
enter the house anyway.

And when they do,
the activity continues.

The front door
has just slammed shut.

And there's much more
where that came from.

Slamming doors is a really
interesting manifestation

because it does
a lot of things at once.

One, it's an implement that's
somewhat easy to move.

And it also makes loud noises,

so it catches the attention
of the people who are around.

It's got their attention, and though they're terrified,

it also has their curiosity.

Shand enters a room
where a door was slammed.

Shand has seen something

and immediately reviews
the footage from his phone.

Watch closely as
some kind of entity

appears hunched over
in the corner.

Could this be a jinn?

When they panned to that corner,

you can see that
there is a dark form,

it's like a little
crouching demon or a homunculus

casting a shadow in that corner.

When they the lights
go on there,

there is no shadow,
there is no dark figure.

So it's kind of curious,
like, what was that?

Why is that there
when the room is dark

and not there
when the room is light?

There's a lot
of activity in the space.

And to me, this is most similar
to a jinn iteration

called a the jann.

The jann is
a shapeshifting spirit

that responds to travelers.

And if you travel with a group
and the jann decides

that it doesn't like you,
then it can manifest

to try to scare you
or get you out of its area.

Whatever this thing
is, jinn or jann,

it's not done with them yet.

The door has suddenly
shut behind them

and they are now
apparently locked in this room.

Shuri frantically tries to
open the door,

when suddenly...

the door swings open, violently,
striking Shuri in the arm.

As much as the pull on that door with all of their force,

they cannot open it.

Yet, when it does open
on its own,

it opens with with so much force

that it really digs
into the one guy's arm.

That's a lot of force
being exerted there.

But wait, it gets
even more terrifying.

Though they don't
notice it at the time,

one of their cameras catches
something

just after the door swings open.

Watch closely as a figure

seems to appear to the left
as if peeking in.

That was incredibly compelling.

It absolutely looked like there
was something leaning around

the doorway peeking in at them.
That was great footage.

When the fear starts
to rise in the room,

the energy gets the chance
to manifest

and we capture
the sighting of this energy

just for a split second.

And that's what tells me
it's not a poltergeist activity.

Because poltergeist activity
causes doors and cabinets

and objects to slide across
tables and things of that sort.

But in this case,
we get to see the culprit.

Battered and bruised,

Shuri, Shand, and Assad
call it quits.

But at this point,

leaving the premises
might not be enough.

This jinn is capable
of possessing people,

it will go with the person
right back home.

So leaving the farmhouse

doesn't necessarily
solve the problem of the haunt,

especially if you've already
connected with this energy,

you'll take this energy home
with you.

So in this case, if you don't
give it the fear and the anger

and the rapt response,

then it's going
to find you boring.

It's going to weaken itself,

and then we will no longer
have that haunt.

Will their fear cause the jinn

to follow
the investigators home?

in Ilion, New York.

Adam Tillinghast and his wife
are watching the sun set

in front of their house,

when suddenly, they both spot
a strange blinking light

in the sky.

It's flashing red and green.

And it's stationary and now
it's moving again.

Slow.

Did it just not like move
real quick to that spot?

My name is Adam and this
is my video.

We just went out
our front porch,

so strange little flash
out of the corner of our eyes

it stayed solid green.

And it would flash red
and comes out wide in the video,

which is kind of grainy,
but it's actually flashing red.

When it's not flashing,
it's green.

As Adam records,

other neighborhood sounds
come through loud and clear.

But the UFO remains
unnervingly silent.

What the heck is it?

That ain't a drone.

And given Adam's background, he would know.

I knew it wasn't
a drone or a helicopter

because I work air wing
in the Marine Corps

for eight years.

And I can tell you there's
nothing in or around here

that can do that and hover.

Even wind shear
would be pushing that,

if that was a helicopter.

Adam is completely baffled by the mystery object

lurking in the clouds.

Then he catches a
startling shift in its behavior.

Whoa!

What the?

That thing is zig-zagging.

Honestly, I was like, what the heck was that?

- I told my wife...
- Are you seeing this?

She was standing next to me and
we're both looking at it like,

well, we've never seen anything
like thatbefore.

No freaking way.

This is jaw dropping
for both of us.

Finally, the object sinks out of view.

It went right down
behind that house,

never came back up, I sat out
there and waited, nothing.

What the hell?
Whoa!

When an expert eyewitness
sees something like this

and they cannot explain it,

my mind always goes to
one of two possibilities.

Either this is a manmade craft
that has remained secret

or perhaps it's extraterrestrial
in nature.

Even wind shear would be
pushing that,

if that was a helicopter.

One of the things that makes
this video so interesting

is the fact that this object

seems to be
zipping back and forth.

What the?
That thing is zig-zagging.

It doesn't glide.
It doesn't have a direct path.

It seems to zip quickly,
stop, zip quickly, stop again.

And that's kind of behavior
we don't see with airplanes

- or anything like that.
- Are you seeing this?

The fact
that it is zigzagging...

No freaking way.

...makes it feel like
it's being controlled somehow.

But controlled by whom or what?

Adam has a hunch.

I do believe it was
extraterrestrial in nature.

'Cause I have no explanation
for it.

I don't know if we're getting
watched or what.

Despite the lack of
concrete answers,

Adam plans to continue
searching the skies

for more evidence
of life beyond Earth.

Fully confident that he'll see
