a man from Knoxville, Tennessee,

is murdered by
one of his roommates over money.

The killer is arrested
and convicted.

Immediately afterwards,
the remaining roommates

report feeling a presence
in the house...

...which is so troubling,

they start packing up
their stuff to move out.

While this was happening,

a team of
paranormal investigators --

Jon Turner, Michael Richardson,
and Tim Cunningham --

went to the scene of the crime,

hoping to get some closure
for the victim and his family.

Upon entering the home,
they quickly realized

that it still contains
traces of the horrible event

that happened
just a short time ago.

something seems

You hear about it a lot,
where electronic devices

will falter or even shut off
during an investigation.

Now, many people believe that
an entity is simply trying

to pull energy from that device,
from the battery itself,

to show itself,
to communicate in some way.

Perhaps that's
what's happening here.

Maybe the poor, unfortunate soul that was murdered

is pulling energy
from any source he can,

trying to get some sort

that could have caused that bear
to just fall over for no reason.

Definitely something caused it,

but it wasn't wind or anything
natural that I can explain.

Could it have been
that large bear that fell

displaced some air,
moved that curtain?

Certainly that
could have happened.

But we have to sit back
and think,

"How did that bear move
in the first place?"

You can account
for all the investigators

within that shot.

They're all standing
next to each other,

so you know no one's
in the room,

you know, causing movement
to make that bear drop.

It didn't seem
to be in any position

that gravity might have
taken over at some point.

It seemed to be firmly rested.

And then it falls.

Was something in there
that yanked that bear down?

That bear -- it, like,
something knocked it off

and continued this way.

And you said his bedroom
was back here.

There is something here.

I understand why they
didn't want to come back here.

Now certain
they've established contact,

the investigators
try to help the spirit

made me pause

because, you know,
if it wasn't the bear moving

that caused
that curtain to move,

it must have
been something else.

I definitely felt
an increase in heart rate

and very nervous at that point,

'cause I didn't know
what we were dealing with.

I can't stand with this curtain
in my back.

It's moved twice.

You know, I knew the gentleman
was just murdered there,

but it was
a very tragic situation.

So, you know,
is this his spirit?

Is this the spirit
of something more sinister

that maybe caused the person
to do this crime?

there's a negative energy

Coming up, a legendary cryptid runs wild in the Everglades.

The Florida Everglades are home to a number of rare species,

including
the West Indian Manatee,

the Florida panther,

and the American crocodile.

But perhaps the rarest of all
is a creature that's said to be

lurking deep within this vast
region of tropical wetlands --

the skunk ape.

Named for its pungent smell,

this cryptid is reported to be
a smaller version of Bigfoot,

standing about 7 feet tall
and weighing around 300 pounds.

20 years ago,

a man captured some video of one
in the Everglades,

and it's considered to be

one of the most credible pieces
of evidence of a skunk ape

to date.

It's July 2000
in Ochopee, Florida.

Dave Shealy
is scouting for deer,

when he spots something else
about 140 yards away.

It's a large creature
covered in reddish-brown hair,

walking upright.

Almost immediately,
Dave knows what this thing is.

A skunk ape.

I run a hunting facility
for deer hunters.

I was trying to get
some pictures of a big buck

to kind of get people
excited about hunting,

and that's when
it all went down.

At first, the skunk ape slowly walks through the marsh.

But then, possibly because
it realizes Dave is there,

it breaks into a run.

It was running as fast
or faster than a deer.

The creature continues to run

until it finally disappears
into the surrounding foliage.

And this wasn't the first time

Dave had seen
one of these creatures.

Dave grew up in the Everglades,

and in 1974,
when he was just 10 years old,

he spotted one while out hunting
with his older brother.

Ever since then,
Dave has seen a total of four

and is constantly
searching for more.

I did have another sighting
back in around 1990

where I took a few
still photographs,

and that was like
seeing a ghost.

I really couldn't believe
what I was seeing when I saw it.

You spend so much time looking,

and when you finally
see something,

it's a little overwhelming.

There are a few popular videos
of the skunk ape,

but of them, I think this is
probably the most compelling

because we get a good, long look
at the creature,

which I think lends
a little credibility

to the fact that this
might actually be

a capture of
a heretofore-unrecorded cryptid.

What I find so
compelling about this

is that this creature appears
to be going about its day

in no particular hurry

until it notices
that it has been detected.

Then it starts moving,
and it moves fast.

And that's no easy feat
through that water

and certainly not something
a human could do.

And considering where this was filmed, it's an ideal place

for an elusive creature like
the skunk ape to duck and hide.

The Everglades is
a vast, vast swampland.

I think that anywhere
in the world

that's got the least amount
of man contact

can actually harbor and keep
a cryptid like this.

I do believe that
animals are changing

and maybe interspecies breeding
amongst themselves

to the point where
they're creating new species

that we haven't logged down,

and those eventually
turn into cryptids

until we actually document them
and find more of them.

Which is exactly
what Dave is hoping to do.

He's even dedicated his life
to researching them.

I've been a full-time
skunk ape researcher now

going on 36 years.

I eat and breathe,

What's even more startling

is the object seems to be moving
at an incredible rate of speed.

This thing is moving.

No sound, you guys.
No sound.

There was no sound at all.
I didn't hear anything.

No jet, no sound.

I should have been able
to hear something.

This is the biggest thing
in the sky.

I timed it from when it took off
to where it went down,

and it was three minutes,

So in three minutes --
you do the math,

and you can go 50 miles
in three minutes.

That's 1,000 miles an hour.
Okay?

That's way faster than anything
should be going over this city.

And the UFO show
is just beginning.

Now I see one light

and a second flashing light
right next to it.

You see that?

And then there's all these
other little blinky lights.

People think that because
something blinks

or because it has
red and green lights

that it has to be
something conventional.

That isn't the truth.

Steve is convinced what he's seeing is extraterrestrial.

This is a major UFO event.

No one can tell me
this is not a major UFO event.

I don't know what that is.

It's moving incredibly fast --

This thing is moving.

Anything with that mass

would make noise.

just like this

for the past five years.

a series of videos

that can only be described

as incredible unidentified
aerial phenomena

lurking above the Earth.

July 23, 2015.

Amazingly, these UFOs you are
watching now on your screen

cannot be seen
with the naked eye.

Steve uses
night vision equipment

to pick up
what the human eye can't.

The footage has been
sped up slightly

to help illustrate
their pattern of movement.

I would see them form,
like, the geometric shape,

and then they would lock in.

The shape would lock,

and then that whole shape
would actually tumble

into a nice straight line,
perfectly spaced.

Just phenomenal.

There was one point where
I'm thinking "Is that Orion?"

Are they forming
a constellation?

Is this a form of communication?

Are they telling us,
"This is where we come from"?

"If you can figure it out,

if you can map out
what we're showing you,

we're telling you a bit
about ourselves."

And perhaps what
they're telling us

is something that Steve
believes he already knows.

I believe in aliens.

I believe they've been coming
here for a long, long time

and that some of them
might just live here now.

Deep in the darkest heart of Filipino folklore

sits a creature that
strikes fear

into everyone who hears
its name --

a shapeshifting evil entity
known as the Aswang,

part vampire, part werewolf,
and part witch.

The Aswang lives
among humans by day

and could be
your next-door neighbor.

But once the sun goes down,
it shapeshifts

into a bloodthirsty,
terrifying ghoul

hunting its favorite prey --

babies and fetuses.

Unfortunately,
this hair-raising creature

might not only exist
in folklore, as one of them

may have been recently caught
on a security camera

heading straight for
the residents

of a housing development.

June 2019 in the Philippines.

Some men are reviewing a video
that was recorded at 1:00 a.m.

by a security camera
outside a housing development

and are horrified
at what they see.

Watch closely,
as an amorphous gray figure

walks through the gates
and heads toward the houses.

Look again, as the entity
approaches the gate

and its transparent body
melts through it

as if it weren't there.

And as it gets closer,
it starts to take shape

into something that looks
distinctly human, but not quite.

The two men watching
are sure of it --

they are witnessing
a shapeshifting creature

called an Aswang.

And it's on the hunt.

Could this be
a genuine shapeshifter?

There's many different things
in this video

that make me think,
"Well, maybe."

The fact that
it walks outside the gate

and then somehow morphs through
it without opening the door.

The people watching are amazed
that it was able to do that.

I personally love this video,
as a Filipino-American person.

According to the legend,

Aswang are able to make
themselves so thin

that they could hide
behind a bamboo tree.

And so the fact that it's able
to come through this gate

makes a lot of sense.

You know, they were able to
contort themselves in such a way

that they could walk through it

and then form
into a human being.

What strikes me most
about this video is,

you can see before it
materializes through the gate --

you can see an energy,
a light zoom to position.

So you see something
zoom to the gate,

and then it kind of creates
an antimatter through the gate,

and then it materializes
into this man.

And I have never seen
anything like that.

What I found
most unusual about this clip

was this person's demeanor.

He lookshuman
but doesn't acthuman,

and that's a telltale sign that
there's some sort of strange --

either possession going on

or an entity kind of
wearing its shapeshifting skin

that doesn't know
exactly how to be human.

This is
the freaky kind of footage

that you both want to see
but never want to experience.

And for good reason.

Aswangs are known as the evil
spirit that lives among humans

with a "Jekyll and Hyde"
persona,

living as shy, quiet
villagers by day

and then transforming into
bloodthirsty animals at night.

Like the shapeshifters
and skinwalkers here in America,

the Aswang tend to have
a malevolent presence to them.

They seem to be
disguising themselves

as something that they're not
in order to exist among us,

and not for the sake
of doing anything good.

Fortunately,
whatever this thing was,

it didn't end up stealing
any babies in the area --

at least, as far as we know.

And thanks to
the security camera,

the guards remain on high alert,

just in case
it decides to visit again.

a menacing
and potentially evil spirit.

Almost every night,

something visits
Jason Pennington in his bed.

He also hears noises
coming from his closet.

After a few months
of dealing with

the unexplainable disruptions

and beside himself
with exhaustion,

Jason calls
upon Vickie Burnett --

a paranormal investigator
and psychic medium --

for advice.

She sets up a camera to record

the activity in his bedroom
overnight.

When they review
the footage the next day,

it becomes apparent what's
causing Jason's lack of sleep.

Look closely
at the left of the screen.

A little after 2:00 a.m., as
Jason reaches for his blanket,

a small, ghostlike arm
appears to be holding on to it.

Then the apparition
seems to go with the blanket

as Jason grabs it
and pulls it towards him.

Two minutes later,
the specter sits back,

like an animal might --
on its hind legs.

visited by ghosts at night.

I was never scared.

She had a different opinion.

I immediately felt that whatever
here -- it wasn't human.

So that's why I agreed to
go ahead and set up the cameras

and see what we could find.

This video really
freaked me out.

Videos of people sleeping
and things happening to them

is probably the most
terrifying thing,

just because, you know, we're so
vulnerable when we're sleeping.

No one wants to actually see
that they weren't imagining it,

that they weren't just dreaming,
that something was truly there.

It's so clear that
something is reaching out

and grabbing this blanket
and pulling it off of him.

It's not just energy.

It's not just
an invisible force.

We actually see
arms of some kind

reach out and grab that blanket.

So my mind
immediately leaps to

some sort of mischievous
or malevolent house spirit

or entity or ghost
that is in this space

that really wants to be
messing with this guy.

What's especially creepy to me

is that you actually see
something of a form

that looks to be skulking
and crawling on top of the bed.

It's almost, like,
troll-like and up to no good.

So, then, if it's not human and appears almost troll-like,

what exactly is this thing?

I don't think
it has good intentions.

I think we're actually dealing
with more than one entity.

I think we have one main entity
that's using other entities

in order to make
Jason sleep-deprived.

Their goal is to cause a person
to be sleep-deprived,

to get them
into a condition

where they can try
to control their life,

because their ultimate goal is
the destruction of that person.

When she puts it like that,
it scares me.

And rightfully so,

because Jason was exhausted
with no end in sight,

and that was taking its toll.

I don't even know
if he realized it,

but we did notice
him changing.

His behavior changed.

And he became
short-tempered,

and we could see that each day,
he was becoming

more and more sleep-deprived,
so we were very concerned.

Sleep deprivation
is a surefire way

to start scratching
at the human psyche.

If there is a negative entity
attached to you and it wants

to feed off of the negative
aspects of that individual,

it could definitely use
tactics like sleep deprivation,

because that's one
of the easiest ways

to kind of unhinge
the human psyche

And all are forms of energy
in which a negative entity

that has an attachment to you
would love to feed off of.

Though he has yet
to fully resolve the situation,

Jason isn't fearful
or panicking at all.

But he is still very much
in need of a good night's sleep.

People have thought
I was crazy for so long --

they thought I was lying
about ghosts and making it up --

but I was so happy
when that came out.

to sleep again.
