A massive cryptid
stirs up a lake in Ireland.

When you see stuff
that your brain

is not prepared to process,
it's a very strange experience.

Haunted playgrounds
from around the globe.

Hauntings don't only
occur in creepy old buildings.

Sometimes they happen
on a rather pleasant day

at a playground.

A nightmarish spirit
invades a man's home in Mexico.

That was really,
really terrifying.

Almost like a spiritual
black hole, if you will.

And even more
paranormal footage

you have to see to believe

The freak is happening?

Death across at home

more often
than we'd like to think.

Usually a spirit has no problem

moving on and finding a way
to the other side.

But if the death
was unexpected or violent,

the spirit can find itself
trapped in this world

in a perpetual limbo,
destined to haunt the house

with odd noises and
poltergeist-like scares...

What was that?

...forever.

That's what two ghost hunters
encountered

when they conducted
an overnight investigation.

And they will never forget it.

My door just slammed close.

Sussex County, Delaware.

In January 2020,

The Cronwell family
invited ghost hunters

to spend the night
at their house.

For a long while,
the family has been tormented

by the sounds of slamming doors
and creepy footsteps.

And the feeling that someone is
watching them while they sleep.

But before moving out,

they've called upon
Sonny Deeds and C.J. Faison

to see if there's
anything that can be done.

All through the night tonight
and tomorrow night,

this is all of ours
to go and investigate,

explore around,
see what we've come up with.

And again, this is about helping
the family more than anything.

While the family spends the night at a hotel,

Sonny and C.J.
begin their investigation

with a walk through.

My name is C.J. Faison,
and this is my video.

When I first walked in,
the first thing

that came to my mind
was there's something

like around me,
like very close proximity.

And it doesn't take
long for whatever C.J.

is sensing to make
its presence known.

That was back there.

That was back here.

Bro, that was back here.

The noise leads them
to where they assume

is the heart of the haunting.

Hello.

The room where a previous
resident died by suicide.

So instantly it's got
to be 10 or 15 degrees colder

in this room than anywhere else
inside the house.

It almost felt like walking out
of a nice warm house,

out into maybe like a 40 degree,
a little frigid temperature.

The common thought is that as
a spirit is trying to manifest,

it has to draw upon
the energy around.

And in that energy,
it's drawing heat

from the air
to try to coalesce.

So by it taking
from the atmosphere,

that pocket is now colder.

My name is C.J.
I'm here old my friend Sonny.

We want you to make a noise.

Hey, hey.

What was that?

More noise
from down the hall?

While Sonny remains in place,
C.J. follows the noise

and uses a spirit box phone app

to try to get the entity
to communicate with him.

If there's any one
who wants to talk to me,

speak through the spirit box

that I have on my phone
right now, just speak through.

C.J. ends up in
another bedroom

where he believes
the noise was coming from.

Did something happen on this bed
that I'm sitting on right now?

Was that a yes?

Hello?

Holy

Oh, my gosh.

Sonny?

That wasn't you then?

Yo, my freaking door, bro.

My door just slam closed.

I felt trapped
and very uneasy.

When a spirit is trying
to connect with you,

usually it's in a friendly way.

You know, this door
was closed slightly here.

When it is something violent,

that's when you really
have to reevaluate.

Okay, do stay here
and keep going

or do we call it quits
for the night,

maybe come back another time.

Although C.J.
is rattled,

they decide to soldier on
when suddenly...

more noises upstairs.

Oh, my gosh.

Holy

Oh, my gosh.

I'm not eve messing
with you right now.

I was just pulled down
the stairs, bro.

I was really just pulled
down the stairs.

Tell me, what it felt like
when I was going up the stairs

that my leg was pulled up
and straight out.

Oh, my God.

I'm thinking to myself, "Okay,
maybe it was in a rush.

But the more I play it back,
the more I know

that there's no accurate
trip like that

and then coming
straight downstairs.

I could of stop myself
if I tripped.

Oh, my God.

Holy

Maybe something is just trying
to get his attention

and instead it feels
very aggressive

and feels like it's pulling him
down the stairs.

Alternatively, it could be
actually aggressive.

It could be something
reacting violently

and not wanting him
on that kitchen.

I'm deathly terrified
right now

of what pulled me
down the stairs

Well,
I'd be nervous, too.

The door slams when the
investigator's back is turned...

...and he's pulled
down the stairs.

Oh, my God!

All of the timing kind of
makes me feel like this being

is intentionally
messing with them.

Oh, gosh. What was that?

Both C.J. and Sonny
are terrified,

but feel they'd be letting
the family down

if they gave up now.

As part of their investigation,
they're spending the night.

They split up to sleep
in separate rooms

and set up cameras to record
any paranormal activity.

This is the camera
in C.J.'s his room,

the same room where the former
resident took her own life.

He's now been asleep
for about two hours.

Then at approximately 4:00
in the morning...

When I woke up,
I swear something...

You could just feel
the back hair

on your next stand up
and it just felt like

somebody was right here.

Obviously terrified, and started
calling Sonny at that point.

I'm actually more terrified
watching the footage back.

You know, it just...

freaks me out,
it really does.

Sonny!

Sonny, Sonny, Sonny, Sonny,
Sonny.

C.J. and Sonny decide

that it's no longer safe
to be in the house.

They call it a night
and go to a hotel.

For the investigators to say,
"Look, it was so creepy,

I couldn't stay here."

You know, that might be a pretty
big red flag to the homeowners,

and might cause them to really
consider selling their property.

Which is exactly what they did.

As for C.J. and Sonny...

Holy...

...they continue
to be haunted...

...by their experience.

Coming up,
are these playgrounds...

...haunted by the dead.

The freak is happening?

Typically,
when you see a playground,

it is full of laughing children
swinging on swings,

sliding down slides or spinning
around on a merry-go-round.

Now, imagine walking
by a playground

with all of that activity

but no kids in sight.

That's what happened at three
separate playgrounds

around the world.

And for the people
who witnessed these events,

it was no laughing matter.

It's June 2018
in Delhi, India.

Two friends are walking
by a playground in the city

when they spot
something unusual.

Look at your holiday.
You open up year.

A swing is moving gently
back and forth

as if it's been pushed,

but there is no wind
and no one around.

Then suddenly...

the swing starts to go crazy...

...as if an invisible being
we're controlling it.

This video is inexplicable,
because you have

to swings side by side.

It's test case A and B.

They're under
the exact same circumstances

and one is swinging wildly,

and the other
has no motion whatsoever.

If there was a breeze going on,
there's no reason

why both of them wouldn't
be moved at the same time.

Initially, my thought is that
this could be residual

in nature, as if it's something
locked in time,

just behaving on its own.

However,
what's really cool about it

is as these guys are watching it

and commenting on this activity,
it spikes.

It freaks out,
and they freak out.

I got to say,
I can't blame them.

Next up, Ecuador,

where Elizabeth Arteaga
and her mother

had a similar experience in 2013

when they spotted
an outdoor exercise machine

moving up and down by itself
as if someone were working out

but there was no one in sight,

and every other
unoccupied machine

in the area was perfectly still.

You could tell that this
thing is pretty solid.

It's probably not so heavy
that a kid

or whoever is in the playground
couldn't move it,

but the fact that it's moving
in such a way,

it looks like someone
is operating it.

Wind is not going to do that,
and if it were the culprit,

it would be affecting
other things

in the environment,
and it's not.

To investigate further,

Elizabeth's mother walks up
to the machine

and waves her hand
where a person would be.

Seconds later,
the machine stops moving.

Why did this swing stop
when the woman got close?

With a lot of these encounters,

spirits like to show themselves
on their own terms.

They're not there
to do tricks for us.

It wasn't doing it for her
entertainment, apparently,

because when she got closer

and which could
really observe it,

it just decided to stop.

And finally,
in May 2019,

Philip Mitchell
was walking past a park

in Greater Manchester, England

When he came upon not one,
but two pieces of equipment

moving on their own accord,

Philip describes
what he's seeing in real time.

We've been watching
this for a good few minutes,

and it's just spinning
on its own,

and now the swings.

That swing
is just going on its own,

but it's going for ages.

For five minutes,
Philip watched in disbelief

as the swing never slowed down
and the merry-go-round

never stopped spinning.

Tell me the wind's doing this.

There's no wind.
There's no wind.

The freak is happening.

I have seen merry-go-rounds
pick up wind,

and they'll start
going on their own.

Then you start looking
at the trees,

and none of
the trees are moving.

There is no wind.

Then you see the swing
moving on its own.

I mean, I have no idea
why that's moving by itself

if there's no evidence
of any type of breeze happening.

Tell me the wind's
doing this.

There's no wind.
There's no wind.

There are blades of grass
right next to it

that aren't even moving.

So if there is just
the gentlest breeze

and it can do this
to this merry go round,

I can't imagine
what a real gust would do.

I mean, it would throw kids,
you know,

left and right,
right out of the playground.

To me, all of these hauntings
definitely feel residual.

A residual haunting is where
something is being repeated

on a loop, sort of.

So, you know, if swings are
moving, carousels are turning,

it could just be these same
children spirits who are just,

you know,
doing it over and over again.

While these three incredible captures may seem unreal,

as it turns out,
haunted playgrounds like these

are not at all that uncommon.

There's an infamously
haunted playground

in the state of Illinois.

Back in 1925, a tornado came
through and decimated a school,

killing many of the school
children that attended.

It said that the ghost
of those children

still haunt that playground.

They move on swings, that play
on the merry-go-round,

they're inhabiting
this playground to this day.

So that kind of thing
can happen there,

I feel like
it could happen anywhere.

So, the next time
you go to a playground,

look around
because you never know

when a spirit might
be looking for a playmate.

Coming up,
a UFO over the Emerald Isle.

I wouldn't consider
myself an UFO,

but I don't know what it was.

Ireland is known
for its emerald green landscapes

of lush rolling hills
and rugged coastline,

but it's also known
for the dreary weather,

with some areas of the country
averaging up

to 225 days of rain per year.

So it must have been a bit odd
that Irish luck

when on one of the few
clear days a man happened

to look up into the sky
and saw more than just the sun.

Cork, Ireland,
November 10, 2018.

Donal Brady steps outside
to enjoy a rare sunny afternoon

when something high up in
the sky catches his attention.

A large, bright disk-like form
moving a radically.

Donal is stunned.

My name is Donal Brady.

It was just an extremely bright,
bright light in the sky

that was moving slowly,
stopping,

and then it would move again.

While it did look like
a high altitude plane

kind of reflecting sunlight,
it wasn't moving that way.

It was kind of hovering,
and then it would stop

and it kind of moves
slowly sideways and stop again.

Donal was convinced that this was no ordinary aircraft,

and he should know because
he lives right near Cork Airport

and sees all kinds of planes
take off and land every day.

When I actually started
shooting the video,

there another
kind of low flying aircraft

came into the picture,

and that wasn't
reflecting anything.

So I said, "Well,
this is interesting."

You see just below it
a passenger jet making a turn

as banks to the right,
and comparing the two,

you see the vast
difference in size.

Okay, this could be perspective,
but at the same token,

typically, planes don't get
so close to each other

because, you know,
there's air safety,

air traffic control,
things of that matter.

So, what is it?

Obviously, this isn't a plane
or most likely not a helicopter

or a drone
or anything like that.

The shape is wrong.

The flight behavior is wrong.

Outside of a helicopter,
a drone,

nothing can hover like that.

Lasted for about maybe a minute,
minute and a half.

Then it just disappears.
Right?

Donal was intrigued,

but went about
the rest of his weekend

without dwelling too much
on what he had seen.

Until Monday morning,
when he saw the news reports

and quickly realized
he wasn't the only person

to witness the strange sight.

There was extensive online
reports here in Soderbergh,

and Cork, Kerry region,
two British airline pilots

and an Irish pilot had seen UFOs
and reported UFOs

which was around
the same time frame.

The fact that three separate pilots witnessed this anomaly

and reported it tells me
that there was most likely

something crazy
going on up there.

I can only imagine
what these pilots

see day in and day out
and don't report.

Even more puzzling
is that Donal believes the UFO

he saw that day
didn't show up on radar.

I think some people kind of look
on some kind of sky maps

and stuff out
air traffic that day.

nobody really pinpointed
an airplane at that altitude.

The fact that this did
not show up on radar,

it's interesting,
and it seems to suggest

that something
didn't want to be seen.

Nobody seemed to have
a definitive answer

as to what the object
might have been

until an astronomer
released a statement

saying it could have been
a meteorite

that had entered
the earth's atmosphere.

But that conclusion
didn't sit right

with the people
who had witnessed it firsthand.

I think the pilots disregarded
that completely,

not by the speed
it was moving at,

the trajectory it was taking.

McNEILL: There's a sense
that pilots kind of know

the range of typical experience.

These are people who know
their stuff

and know their environment.

And if they say this is not
how things move,

I'm inclined to believe them.

Donal might never know
for certain what he saw,

but he was happy the clouds had
parted on that particular day

and allowed him
to catch a glimpse

of something extraordinary.

I wouldn't consider myself
UFO,

but I don't know what it was.

Coming up,
a little girl's stuffed animal.

haunts a man in Mexico.

There are few things
more terrifying

than having to go
to the hospital

for a life-threatening illness.

And if you're lucky enough
to fully recover,

getting released should be
the best feeling in the world,

but that wasn't the case
for one man in Mexico.

His troubles only got worse
once he left the hospital

when he apparently took
something home with him

that no doctor could cure.

In spring of 2018,
for Jorge Ortega

was in and out of consciousness
for nearly a week

after suffering
from heart failure.

During that time,
he dreamt of a young girl

with a stuffed animal.

Amazingly, when Jorge
finally awoke from this state,

the same stuffed animal was
sitting next to him on the bed.

His wife told him that a girl
in the hospital gave it to her

and said it was for Jorge
so he could get better.

Once Jorge recovered,

he took the stuffed animal
home with him.

That's when bizarre things
started happening.

He had nightmares,
heard whispers

and saw items like toys
and picture frames move.

Then late one night
after being woken up

by some commotion in his house,

Jorge took out his phone
and began to record this.

Watch the left side
of your screen carefully.

Did you catch that?

The handle of a child's scooter
just turned, twice.

But that isn't
the only thing that.

At his wits end, Jorge reached
out to a medium for help,

and what she said
freaked him out.

The medium believed the spirit
of the little girl Jorge

saw at the hospital
attached herself

to the stuffed animal
he brought back home with him,

and now the spirit is here,
sitting on a shelf in his home,

toying with him.

And from the looks of it,

it appears she's
not going anywhere.

It's very common
for younger energies,

energies of children
to attach themselves to objects.

Maybe this was a little girl
who possibly died

in the same hospital.

Maybe she just latched
onto this little toy dog.

McNEILL: I could easily imagine
the spirit of a child

who died in the hospital
seeing this person as,

hey, I can help you out
and then you can help me out.

I'm going to bring you back,
and then you're gonna get me

out of here,
and you're stuck with her.

A few nights later,
with the medium's guidance,

Jorge attempts to communicate
with the young girl.

He begins in the room
with the scooter

where most of the activity
is taking place.

Here on the pillow,

you can again see the stuffed
animal that he was given.

Watch closely as the pillow

and the stuffed animal
slowly slip down.

Then...

A toy car rolls
from under the bed.

Someone is in the room.

To hear a disembodied
voice is very weird.

I mean, you don't know
where it's coming from.

It's almost like you think
you're going insane.

Jorge is overwhelmed
by this level of communication

and tries to end it,

at least until he can get
the medium to come help him.

But it might not
be entirely up to him.

The fear is almost unbearable,
but Jorge is determined

to move beyond this
once and for all.

The room is now in disarray.

But there's something else...

...there, sitting on the bed,

a shadow figure.

That was a really,
really terrifying moment.

It's this dark mass
in the shape of a human.

It seems so dark that no light
can escape it,

almost like a spiritual
black hole, if you will.

Shadow figures are kind
of like a low-key spirit.

They're just trying to mess
with you to the point

where you feel like
you're going crazy,

and there's no other intention.

It's not trying to get you
out of the house you're in,

it's not trying to communicate
with you to the other side,

it's literally just trying
to mess with you,

just taunting.

What's interesting about
this one is it was captured

in a fairly well lit area

and also seemed more substantial
than a lot of shadow figures

that I've heard about
and that I have seen.

This seemed almost tangible,

and that was really
striking to me.

It was creepy as hell, too.

The experience proved
to be too much for Jorge.

He and his family
move out soon after,

and he gets rid of
the stuffed animal for good.

Unfortunately, it doesn't help.

Jorge is experiencing similar
activity in his new house.

He's currently searching
for solutions.

Coming up, something massive
and mysterious

is making waves in this lake.

In 2003, the Irish
Char Conservation Group

conducted a study
on the rare fish

living in the lakes
of Killarney, Ireland.

To gather data
in Muckross Lake,

the deepest lake in the country,

which reaches a depth of up
to 246 feet.

The scientists used sonar scans.

as they were surveying
the Arctic Char,

the sonar picked up
something massive

about the size
of a two story house.

Unable to identify
what the organism was

and after ruling out
any possible computer errors,

the mysterious creature
came to be known

as the Muckross monster,
or Mucky.

Six years later, one man finally
captured it on camera.

Look at this.

You can see something
large and dark,

very, very fast moving
like a torpedo.

In September 2009,
Jon Downes,

the director of the Centre
for Fortean Zoology,

was visiting the Killarney Lakes
with some friends.

He was standing on a hillside
about a quarter mile

from the shore of Upper Lake,

which is right next
to Muckross Lake,

capturing some footage
for his records

when it suddenly came alive
with activity.

My name's Jon Downes
and this is my video.

The thing that I find
particularly interesting

was that when we got there
the lake was completely empty.

Suddenly, all sorts of things
started to appear on the lake,

perfectly normal things
like birds,

geese streaming across the lake,

and things diving into
the lake from the shore.

This thing in lake,
I think it's a bird.

And then there was
the, whatever it is,

swimming underwater
from the middle.

Keep your eyes to the right hand side of the island

as something massive and long
darts just beneath the water,

leaving a large wake
behind it.

It's far too big
to be a duck.

And in fact,
if you look closely,

you'll see that there's nothing
above the water.

It's something
just under the surface.

Then about a minute later, Jon spots an even larger wake,

this time to the left
of the island.

Could this be
that uber predator?

Just look at
the way it's moving.

It's far too big to be an
unknown species

in that lake.

Jon kept
his eyes on the water

to see if those were
just currents or swells,

but soon became convinced

that whatever was making
those waves in the lake

was something
far more mysterious.

Look at this.

You can see
something large and dark

and very, very fast
moving like a torpedo

and leaving something like
a torpedo trail in its wake

as it zooms right towards us
and then bears to the right.

When you see stuff
that your brain

is not prepared to process,

it's a very strange experience.

It was one of the more
peculiar things

that I've seen in my life.

I feel immensely privileged
to have been part of it.

So, is it possible
that Jon captured proof

of the Muckross monster
that day?

McNEILL: This was some really
compelling footage.

To my eyes,
this looked like something

very large and very dense

moving under the water.

What makes this clip
notable is the perspective.

They're standing on a hillside
fairly far away from the water,

but from their vantage point,

whatever's down in that lake
appears to be huge.

If you were right up
on that lake,

even standing on the shore,
this thing would be immense.

It's been over
a decade since Jon captured

this incredible footage.

And although he doesn't know
what exactly was lurking

in the lake that day,
he's still in awe

of his once-in-a-lifetime
experience.

I think that that's one of
the best pieces of footage

of an unknown creature
that anyone's ever taken.

I'm very proud of it.

It's almost too good to be true.

This video is testament
to the fact to that,

even in the 21st century,
mankind is nowhere

as knowledgeable
as we think we are,

and there are far more mysteries
than most people like to accept.

And to me,
that's a really exciting thing.

can visit you in your dreams

or make their presence

crossed to the other side

may appear
as something else entirely.

Like when a childlike apparition

showed up at a home in New York
with a small, ghostly pet.

Long Island, New York.

Joey Nolan and his wife

are out for the evening
when they log in remotely

to their home security camera
to check in on their sick cat.

All seems well with the cat,

But there's something else
that gives them pause.

Look at the bottom right hand
side of your screen

as two apparitions
come into view.

One resembles a child and
the other a cat or small dog.

The childlike apparition
goes down the stairs

while the animal remains.

Moments later,
the childlike spirit reappears.

It's a fleeting glimpse,
but there's enough detail in it

that you can sort of
make out a human form.

It feels like these
are conscious movements.

It's morphic.

It's kind of grotesque
in its shape,

like it looks like
it has limbs almost.

It definitely seems to have
some sort of shape,

and in it's substantial.

Whatever this is, it doesn't
seem to bother the cat

that's sitting five feet away.

Can you get a cat
to pay attention to anything?

Cats don't care about people
nor ghost.

They're cats,
which is why they're superior

in a lot of ways.

The Nolan's incredible
footage goes viral

and is picked up by the media.

And what makes their story
even more compelling

is that a few weeks
before they captured

the ghostlike figures on camera,
both Joey and his wife

had the same exact dream about a child and a dog.

Joey and his wife experienced
a shared dream,

And usually when these happen,
it's a sign from an ancestor

or a message
that they're trying

to communicate
through your dream state.

Before we ever use devices, dreams were essentially

the way we communicated
with spirits.

According to theory,
it's when the soul

is the most awake,

it's when the veil
is the thinnest

between the living and the dead.

So it happens all the time
that people are visited

by dead loved ones
or they encounter something

that is potentially paranormal
in their sleep.

So the fact that they both
had the same dream

means that they have some sort
of correlating piece of evidence

that suggests something
is going on in their home.

And while most people think these apparitions look

like a child and a dog,
Joey has another theory.

He believes it could be
his late grandfather,

mainly because this footage
was captured

on the 20th anniversary
of his death.

Just because somebody died
in old age

does not necessarily mean that
their spirit would come back

to this life at an advanced age.

It's often thought
that people go back

to a time in their lives,

and that's not necessarily
the time when they die.

As an investigator,
I like to think that,

you know, if a spirit, again,

can come by anytime
he feels like it

and be anywhere
just by thinking of it,

you know, an anniversary
that might mean something to us

is also going to mean
something to the spirit.

There just a person
without a body.

And maybe this was a Joey's
grandfather

just coming in to say,
"Hey, man, everything's good,

and I hope you're having
a good life."

That would give me
great comfort.

Joey does find comfort in thinking it was his grandfather

possibly in another form.

But even if it wasn't,
the Nolan's aren't the least

bit bothered by the specters

that showed up
in their home that night.

As human beings,
we want that connection.

We want validation that,
A, we're not alone,

B, that life goes on,
and Cm

we will see
our loved ones again.

What should you do in the event

you witnessed
something paranormal?

Here are some tips
to get it all on camera.

Keep your eyes on the skies.

Check all your footage
for something strange.

Trust your instincts
that what you're seeing

really is otherworldly.
