something they believe
is paranormal,

in an old historic hotel.

It can harken guests back
to a simpler time

before magnetic key cards
and free Wi-Fi.

But along with the ornate decor
and antiquated amenities,

these time-worn accommodations
often provide guests

with another experience
free of charge --

ghostly encounters.

I think hotels can be
a hotbed of activity

because of the energy
that passes through

on a regular basis.

People are coming in.

They're on their way
to somewhere.

They're on an adventure.
They're on a work trip.

They're bringing their energy,
and they're leaving it behind.

Those looking to interact with

some leftover energy

should look no further
than the Crescent Hotel

in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

The Crescent Hotel
in Eureka Springs, Arkansas,

has been labeled the most
haunted hotel in America

for good reason.

Built in 1886,
the hotel was initially a haven

for the rich and famous.

Since then, it's changed
several hands times.

By far, the darkest era
of the hotel's history

happened in the 1930s,

when a self-proclaimed
Dr. Norman Baker purchased it

and ran it as a hospital
under false pretenses.

He said he could cure cancer
and attracted a lot of very sick

and as you can imagine,
desperate people.

He wasn't a doctor at all.

He was actually just an actor
and a con man.

He was scamming people.

They were coming in to be cured,

and he would, you know,
give them good meals

and lots of fresh air,
and a lots of people came,

and unfortunately,
lots of people died.

More than 100 patients
died in Baker's care,

and their bodies were stored
in the morgue,

which is now
the hotel's basement.

Given the property's
tragic history,

it's no surprise that spirits
are often

reported roaming the grounds.

I have investigated
there and it is quite haunted.

I saw apparitions
in the hallways,

wispy forms that seemed
to be from the past,

people who were there
going about their --

their affairs in the hotel.

Paranormal enthusiasts
like Alex Moore and his wife

booked a room at the hotel
in hopes of encountering

a supernatural experience
of their own.

at the Crescent Hotel.

We'd been searching for stuff
really late into the night.

You know, walking around
the hallways

and trying to find something,

you know, taking pictures
and videos,

and we didn't have any equipment
or anything like that,

so, kind of -- I guess
the old ghost-hunter standby

is to just ask a spirit
or ghost to move something.

Will something please
close the door?

If there's anyone here,
will you close the door?

This is a good example
of investigators

going for an interaction.

Now, essentially what that is
is exactly what it sounds like.

You're asking a spirit
to do something.

To make a noise,
to make a device go off.

In this case,
"Can you close this door?"

Can you close the door?

There we go.

Can you close the door?

If there's anyone in here,
please close the door.

What I like about this clip is
the door is in full frame.

You know,
there's nothing blocking

where somebody can hide
and shut the door.

Doesn't look like
there's any strings.

Sometimes you can explain away,

"Oh, maybe there's a draft.

It was, like,
the air conditioning."

But the way that
this door moved,

there's no way that that
would be the reason why.

After the door shut by itself,

I felt kind of shocked,
speechless,

I guess you could say.

The door closing on its own

not only left Alex speechless,

it kept him
coming back for more.

I've been back eight times
since then.

On his next visit...

the EMF meters

because when there is a presence
of electromagnetic fields,

usually it means that there is
something in the room with you.

that a spirit

If spirits exist,

I like that there's a building
full of people that are willing

and trying

There are eight planets
orbiting around our sun,

but there are trillions
of other stars

just like it in the universe.

According to research,

about half of those stars
likely harbor planets,

so the idea that
some of those planets

have the right conditions
to support life

cannot be ruled out,

and some frightened
onlookers in Wisconsin

may have witnessed
first contact.

In summer 2015,
a woman named Yanilka Diaz

was attending a birthday party
at a friend's house in Milwaukee

when an eerie sight
in the twilight sky

caught everyone's attention,
and she began filming.

The end of the world!

Well, at first, this looks
like fireworks, uh,

because it seems to be
falling toward the --

the Earth.

But then the --
the lights that break off

don't seem
to fall like fireworks.

It looks as if each
individual light

is sort of independently
operated,

so without a doubt,
this is a UFO.

As the baffling bright lights

continue to drop
in an unfamiliar manner,

Yanilka and her friends grew
increasingly more concerned.

So, they seem suspended

for an unnaturally
long period of time.

There seems to be intent
in their movement.

There seems to be
an intelligence

in their pattern.

What's causing it?

I think whenever you see
something that is unexplained,

you think the world
is coming to an end.

Clearly, it wasn't the end
of the world, but what was it?

I'm not entirely sure what it is
that we're seeing in this video,

but if I had to guess,
it might be space debris,

which is actually a really
common explanation

for sightings like this.

I doubt that this is
space debris

because it's clearly
lower atmosphere,

and space debris
would be coming through

the Earth's atmosphere
very fast

and would probably
burn up much higher up.

It would look more
like a meteor.

There could be sky lanterns,
military maneuvers,

sometimes aircraft drop flares,
but we don't --

we can't see enough
evidence of that to say.

I mean, this is truly one
of those instances

where it's
an unidentified object.

Adding to the mystery
is the fact

that a very similar sighting
to the lights in Wisconsin

was reported over Osaka, Japan,
the very same week,

leaving many to wonder
if they were both part

of some related
extraterrestrial activity.

If this sighting was, in fact,
proof of alien life,

it begs the question --
what on Earth are they doing?

If aliens are coming
to our atmosphere,

you could imagine a number
of motives that they might have,

but we don't know
if we even think like them,

so it's kind of hard to
second-guess them

when we don't even know
who they are or what they are.

has learned that firsthand.

where you go after you die.

Sometimes the spirits
aren't that restful.

a ghost hunter who had
a terrifying encounter

in an abandoned graveyard
in Sheffield.

In late 2017,
Phil heard reports

that the nearby
Wardsend Cemetery

was ripe with
paranormal activity,

so he did what
any ghost hunter would do.

to dig up some evidence.

Is there something evil here?

You wanted to feed on my energy?

A few minutes later,

Phil learned the true
meaning of the phrase

"be careful what you wish for."

...daily bread,
as we forgive those

who have trespassed
against us.

Lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

- How did that happen to you?
- I don't know.

- It's just my neck was burning.
- That's weird.

Oh, turn that voice off.
That's weird.

Have you just attacked me?
Is that what it is?

- It's a big smash up, isn't it?
- It's massive. It's like a claw.

It's awful.

He looks on his neck,
and he sees three red marks

and the fact that there's three
probably means

that it was
an evil entity there

because three means that they're
mocking the Holy Trinity.

A lot of people fear that
when you're scratched,

instantly, it's a demon.

That's not always so.

But in this case,
given the words

that preceded it, if I were him,
I would be cautious.

Who has just attacked me?

There's something here
mocking us.

Are you a coward,
hiding in the shadow?

Is that what you are?
Attacking people?

It's not a really good idea
to, you know, pick a fight

a fight with something
that sounds like an evil spirit,

because you're just asking
yourself for -- for trouble.

- Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Yeah, we need to get out.

If you are ghost hunting,
and you hear stuff like this,

you get marks on your neck
in threes,

it's probably time to go home.

was trying to get across

About an hour north of London

is the village
of Melbourn, England.

The small, medieval town
boasts a 13th century church,

quaint pubs, and charming,
thatch-roofed cottages.

Living in such a storybook town

sure seems like it
would be pleasant,

but for one Melbourn resident,

his picturesque cottage
housed a dark secret.

We get a lot of accounts

of unexplained activity
out of the U.K.

They're a much, much older
culture than we are,

so a lot more lives have gone
through these places,

and if you believe in spirits,
then that would stand to reason

that if more lives
have been there,

more afterlives
will manifest there.

Just ask local
resident Andrew Ward.

The house that I'm living at
at the moment is haunted.

It was the summer of 2017

when the homeowner started
to sense something was amiss

as soon as he moved in.

I've had some
strange experiences.

I shut the windows at night
and in the morning,

sometimes, they're wide open,
and I don't know what it is.

Convinced his
400-year-old cottage

was haunted,
Andrew set out to confirm it.

It's this window above me
is the window

that seems to open
at nighttime,

so we're gonna leave a camera up
and leave it on all night,

and we're gonna see what happens
so let's go up to the bedroom.

With a cottage like this
that's over 400 years old,

you've had families live
and die in this structure,

and I do believe that
the older a location is,

the more likely it is
to have haunts,

because more energy accumulates
within the walls of this place.

So, here's the camera,

and it's going to film

the window, just there.

We'll just make sure
this is all shut

and everything, which it is.

Okay.

So, let's see if we get
a visit tonight.

Essentially,
we're watching a stakeout.

After hitting record,
Andrew went to bed.

The next morning,
he examined the video.

At first,
there was nothing unusual.

And then he saw this.

My name is Andrew Ward.

I shot this ghost video.

And yeah,
it really did happen.

I've been in old,
old buildings,

and it's never that easy
to just open a window

in a structure
like that, you know?

It just seemed so effortless.

The littler triggers
all moved perfectly,

and the window just opened
without any hitch.

Now, a lot of people could say,

"Oh, the wind
simply caught the window,

or a draft kicked
the window open,"

but how do you explain
the moving lock?

No wind is gonna move
a steel lock.

The windows are actually made
of wood,

and they swing outwards,
and they have a metal catch,

so it stops the wind
blowing them further open.

It's got a lock on there,
you see,

so you have to unhook it
like that to open it.

There's only two things
that could've moved the latch.

One would be a string,
and the other would be a spirit.

I don't see a string.

Interestingly enough,

the latch, of course,
is on the inside.

That would require
a paranormal ability

in order to enter the residence,
unlatch it, open up the window,

so I think that makes
the footage really compelling.

It seems to be a ghost
doing what ghosts do,

and that is opening windows,
opening doors, passing through.

So it's a very well-captured bit
of evidence

of that sort of passage.

Andrew's spirit
stakeout had been a success,

and even though he can't see

the entity
that opened his window,

he has an idea
of who it might be.

Because someone died in this
house, it's entirely possible

that the spirit of that person
is remaining for a purpose.

Oftentimes,
unfinished business,

a sudden death
or some kind of schism in life

might cause that energy
to stick around.

Andrew has since moved

from this potentially
haunted cottage,

but he still thinks back
on this chilling experience.

monster in the Philippines.

Comprised of more than
7,000 islands,

the Philippines has
some of the most idyllic

beaches in the world.

Residents and visitors alike
treasure the region's white,

sandy shorelines,
crystal-clear waters,

and abundant marine life.

But when a mysterious creature
known to cryptid experts

as a globster washed up
on one of the beaches,

naturally,
there was cause for concern.

On May 11th, 2018, residents
of San Antonio, Philippines,

were shocked to see a cryptic
creature had been beached.

One of the witnesses
who had a camera

on-hand was Michael Landicho.

I'm Michael Landicho, uh,
from the Philippines...

I'm Filipino and when I saw
this video,

I immediately thought
of the Bakunawa,

which is a mythological creature
that ancient Filipinos

believed controlled eclipses,
earthquakes, wind, and rain.

The bizarre
blob-like beast was covered

with a white,
hairlike substance

and had a foul odor
emanating from its body.

It doesn't like an animal
that we can recognize its form,

but surely, there are creatures
living in the ocean

that we have not studied,

so it might very well be some
creature that is of this Earth,

we just haven't
categorized it yet.

We don't know.

Locals dubbed this
strange creature "the globster."

Globster is actually
an official word,

and it means an unidentified
organic mass

that washes ashore.

Now, the Philippines
seems to get more

than its fair share
of globsters.

This thing is difficult
to describe

because it didn't seem
to have the shape

of the bloated corpse
of a whale

or any sea creature
carcass for that matter.

There was no fins
that you could discern.

It was just, literally, a glob.

If I saw it on the beach,

I'd probably run
right towards it

and want to see everything.

I'd want to film everything.

I'd want to get, like,
a tissue sample.

I love that kind of stuff.

I mean, that's why you become
a scientist.

And while some brave residents

approached the globster
to get a closer look,

the majority of them
kept their distance.

If I saw that wash up on shore,

I would take a picture of it,
but then, you know what?

Back out the other way.

Once the smell hit me, gone.

That's where
my investigation ends.

Although the globster
didn't seem to be dangerous,

its presence still sparked fear
amongst the locals

that it was the harbinger
of something worse to come.

The fact that it washed ashore,

dead, probably is not
a great omen,

'cause it means that nature
is gonna be

out of balance somehow.

I'm not sure
if it's a bad omen.

I will say it's not, like,
a great one. I don't know.

Like, it can't be, like,
the best thing

that ever happened to a town,

if you have some big,
blubbering mass washing ashore.

I don't think it means
everything is going great.

After a sample of

the smelly sea creature
was taken,

authorities buried the blob
in the sand with a backhoe,

but still to this day,

the mystery surrounding
the origin

of the Philippines'
globster lives on.

We may never know from exactly

where this particular
sea oddity washed up,

but thankfully,
it didn't turn out

to be the harbinger of doom
they thought it was...yet.

formation floats over Philly.

Attics have
the tendency to be scary places.

They're dark, cold,
and you never know

what you'll find tucked amongst
the cobwebs and dusty boxes.

But for one man
in Springfield, Missouri,

it wasn't what he found
that rattled him,

it was what he heard.

People are afraid of
less-traveled regions

of their home.

They creep out a lot of people.

Shawn Wells had every
reason to be creeped out

when he kept waking up
to loud noises

coming from the ceiling
in his closet.

So he took it upon himself
to find out

what was causing
all the commotion.

Okay, everybody.

We're in my closet,

and I want to do the experiment
of trying to get this on tape.

My attic, it's right there,
always makes noise.

It rattles all the time
at night.

My name is Shawn Arthur Wells,

and I was the one that shot
the video of my attic door.

We noticed the latch was making
noise when we first moved in,

and we thought it was the wind.

I got tired of it,
so I started recording it.

I'm gonna try to get this
on film when I'm sleeping,

so I'm gonna place the camera
right up here on my jeans.

Attics often, in a haunted home,
are one of the more likely areas

where mysterious activity
is going to take place.

Shawn left his camera
recording in the closet

and went to bed
around 1:00 a.m.

Three hours later,

it picked up something
downright disturbing.

The activity picked up
by the camera

was not easily explainable.

I've seen drafts do a lot
of strange things in houses --

open doors, open windows --

but what's happening
in this video

doesn't seem to be
caused by a draft.

It seems like something
is physically lifting the door

from above
and having a hard time doing so.

If a draft was coming
in the windows,

it would happen during the day
as well as at night,

so this possibly could
be paranormal activity.

It seems as if maybe
something's trying to get out.

But then you see
these wispy shapes

start flying by the camera.

They're not coming out
of the attic,

but they're in the proximity
and just floating off-screen,

and it makes you go,
"Okay, what was that?"

As if that weren't
creepy enough,

soon after the eerie orbs
made an appearance,

Shawn's dog took notice.

My dog never whined

unless he needed to go outside
during the day,

especially he did not
whine at the closet.

There was nothing in there
that he needed or wanted,

so it kind of freaked me out.

Animals -- they hear things,
see things, smell things

and feel things
that we just don't,

so there's no reason to
doubt that,

if there was
a paranormal activity,

an animal would be more cued

into it before we would be.

When Shawn woke up
the next morning

and watched what his camera
had captured,

he was shocked
to say the least.

I felt surprised
when I saw the video.

It was really eerie,

and I never experienced
anything like that before.

I had my landlord
go up there to see

if there was
any raccoons up there.

There wasn't.

There was no raccoon droppings
or no rat droppings whatsoever.

Freaked out that there
really was something paranormal

lurking in his attic,
Shawn has since moved out,

but he won't soon forget
this experience.

I got an eerie feeling
from that duplex.

It really felt really,
really creepy there.

Philadelphia is where
the Founding Fathers

met to write the Constitution,
and according to locals,

some of their spirits
never left.

to Alexander Hamilton
haunting the First Bank,

the city of brotherly love is no
stranger to paranormal activity.

But perhaps none of the accounts
are quite as bizarre

as what one Philly resident

witnessed
from his apartment window.

One afternoon,
Hector Garcia spotted

something peculiar
floating high in the sky,

so he grabbed his cellphone
and started filming it.

At first glance, the object
looked like a cloud,

but as it drifted closer,
one thing became clear --

Hector had no earthly idea
what it was.

It's moving and morphing
and floating in a way

that I've never seen
a cloud move.

This was one of the more
interesting and unusual

unidentified
flying objects I've seen.

It almost looks like a giant sky
jellyfish of some kind.

And the way the entity
continued to move across the sky

made it that
much more mysterious.

It's almost undulating.

You're not sure what
you're looking at,

and it's transparent enough
that you can't see any parts,

but there's little --
little points of light

that reflect from time to time.

I was trying to see if this guy

could possibly manipulate
this image,

but it's kind of going
behind these power lines,

and it starts floating even
faster the closer it gets,

so it seems to kind of have
an intelligent movement to it.

It didn't look like
a windy day,

but this thing was rolling
and tumbling on its own.

It looked like some kind
of electrical current in it.

Even the more
innocent explanations

for what this UFO could be
don't seem to hold up.

Some have speculated
that these are soap bubbles.

That would have to be
one heck of a big bubble,

and it would, at some point,
have to pop, wouldn't it?

It just seems too large,

and its form is too haphazard
for that.

This one's a real puzzle.

Without any plausible reason

for the freakish formation
over Philly,

theories about its origins
will continue to float around.

I can't even begin to hazard
a guess as to what this is.

It's not your typical UFO.

It's not a flying disk.

It's not a triangle or a pyramid
shape that we're used to.

It's just something different.
It's something else.

Coming up,

a poltergeist
earns its paycheck.

There are plenty of
things for the average worker

to fear about the office,
such as deadlines,

demanding bosses,
and stressful responsibilities.

But nothing could be quite
as terrifying

as the footage surveillance
cameras captured late one night

in an office building
in the United Kingdom.

Any place can be haunted,

including office buildings.

We hear many stories of people
coming to work,

and they find things
have been rearranged.

They're even in disorder
or upset.

A prime example of
this comes from one workspace

in Manchester, England.

After all the employees
had long been gone,

security cameras
throughout the office building

caught some disturbing activity.

Because poltergeists need
massive amounts of energy

to manipulate objects,

if you have an office space
with tons of computers,

it would be able to draw

the energy
from electronic devices

like those
to help itself manifest

and manipulate
the environment around it

or objects in our environment.

After the poltergeist,
or whatever it was,

had finished
rearranging the chairs,

it really got to work.

Usually when there is
the presence of spirits,

it affects electronics.

That's why, if you watch a lot
of ghost hunting shows,

you see that their batteries
are depleted

even though they just
fully charged them.

So the fact that the monitors
were flickering

could mean something was there.

From there,
things only got more shocking.

The activity we see
in this video is intense.

Whatever this entity
in this video is,

it has a ton of energy.

It doesn't look like a person
is doing this.

It looks like a big wind storm
coming in here

and just, like, doing a frenzy
over the whole place.

As the night went on,

the ornery entity
continued to cause chaos.

I've seen
other videos like this

where similar things happen.

This one is more impressive
in that the range of motion

that you get here
is so diverse.

I don't know
how I would get papers

to fly up out of a sealed file
cabinet, for example.

If this were to be a hoax,

it would've been
incredibly complicated to stage.

This paranormal activity

captured the attention of more
than three million viewers

on YouTube
and led many to speculate who

or what might be behind it.

The activity that we see
in this office

certainly doesn't seem demonic
or bad to me in any way,

but it certainly tells me

that something may have
taken up residence in there.

Something may be inhabiting
that office

from beyond the grave.

People are attached
to their jobs,

and they spend a fair amount
of their life in these jobs,

and people have jobs
for 20, 30 years working

in the same office,
and once you have moved on,

I would assume that you would,
from time to time,

want to kind of check in
where you spent a lot of time

and poke your head around
and see what's going on.

Whatever the case may be,

employers may want to consider
that how they treat the staff

could come back to haunt them.

If you're a boss, make sure
your employees are happy,

because if not, when they do
pass on to the other side,

they're gonna come back,

and they're gonna mess
with all your paperwork,

so treat your employees
with some dignity and respect,

and then when they pass on,
they won't have to go

and shuffle around
all your chairs.
