seen the common point, but surely when you

see the lens that I have in my

hands, surely you will all say, well, he

is going to talk about the 45mm, and

surely others will say, but if I already

talk about the 45mm, and the truth is

that yes, the first video I created on

this platform, on Patreon, was a video to

talk about the benefits of the 45mm, since

today it is still my fetish lens and

the moment I take it out of my

backpack is to create something interesting, something very

crazy, something that really distinguishes me and that

stands out from the rest of my colleagues.

I'm just going to summarize it a little

briefly, in case someone hasn't seen the first

chapter, but I have to tell you that

it is a lens that is called tilt

-shift, it is a lens that is more

commonly known as decentralized, it is a lens

created for architecture and not for fashion, and

there is the 24mm, the 45mm and the

85mm, but in my case I have the

45mm.

Why did I buy the 45mm?

Because the 24mm, for my taste, is too

angular, the 45mm is perfect for portraits and

the 85mm, for my taste, is not a

focal for these things, for what I want

it to be for portraits, because of course,

if I talk about portraits, it is because

it is all manual, both the focus and

the diaphragm, of course, if someone says, well,

it is not so complicated to focus on

the manual, no, it is not complicated when

you use it simply without doing anything, but

the moment you do tilt and the moment

you do shift, the thing changes and in

reality, when it is used perfectly or for

what it was built, sorry, it was to

put it in a tripod and work in

the E-view and when you see that

everything is focused, then when you press the

button, of course, in wedding photographers, we use

it like this, with the camera, and of

course, focusing is really complex.

If I say portraits, it is because I

need my time and capturing real moments with

a lens like this, well, I have not

tried it before, but it is not something

I can recommend so that you have reasonably

reasonable results and that the client does not

want to kill you after you show him

all the photos.

What I am going to talk about in

this video is how I work with it

or when I try to take advantage of

it.

As I had told you, the focal length

is 45 and the reason why I have

45 is because it is the perfect distance

to be in contact with my partners, I

mean, when I use it, it is for

the moment when I have the couple in

front of me about three meters away and

I can interact perfectly with them.

The 45mm, which is almost like a 50mm,

gets me on top of them, I mean,

I don't know, there is a connection that

helps me, as I tell you, to be

in contact with the couple that I have

in front of me.

The ways I have it or how I

usually use it, and let's go for the

main one, and it is that, believe me,

I do not usually abuse TIL or SHIFT.

Most of the portraits or most of the

photos I take with it are for common

portraits, for very normal portraits, I mean, like

the ones you are seeing now, in which

we could obviously use a 50mm, but of

course, a 50mm does not have all the

specifications that this wonderful lens can have, but

of course, you already know that I also

love to play with perspective, with the lines,

so having a lens like this will already

enter an added value of being able to

play with the lines.

Look, for example, images like this, in which

it allowed me to play with the perpendicular

that crossed just the image, of course, that

is simply wonderful, right?

Of course, we are talking about mainly the

most important use, right?

The biggest use is when I do not

do TIL or SHIFT, but it has a

very important point, it is that it is

also macro, with which I can get as

close as possible and I can get images

like this, in which only the lips of

the girl are practically focused with the dress.

Of course, I was glued to the maximum

level, to what was just the couple, so

that helps me a lot to get images

that, I mean, I would have to have

a macro, I would have to have a

45, I would have to have a decentralized,

I mean, there are many lenses put in

one.

Of course, also, as I say, I like

to play with the lines, with the perspective,

this lens helps me to correct them enormously

and helps me to have, I mean, to

get really great results.

In addition to the most common use that

could be that, there is another important thing,

another important element is that this lens has

TIL, which means that we can balance to

the right the lens and we can balance

to the left the lens, with which this

is essential to focus or blur areas that

we want.

We can do it both vertically and now,

but we can rotate the lens on itself

and we can tilt horizontally up or down.

At this moment we will simply focus parts

that we want to focus, for example, in

this image.

If I wanted to focus, for example, those

hands, what did I do?

I put it horizontally, like this, and just

focus the horizontal line that was right at

the hands of the bride, and so I

go much deeper, or I go direct, or

I show the viewer the element that I

just want to be focused.

I can even do something like this, as

crazy as it is tilted in a thing

like that, do you understand me?

Why do I do this?

There, for images like this, where, as you

are seeing, I only focused the face of

the bride, the arm, and little else, and

the rest is completely out of focus.

For those things, this helps me perfectly.

Of course, there is a group of photographers,

which I admire a lot, they are known,

I don't know if they are hipsters or

photographers who work with less pronounced shadows, and

it is very normal to see in this

type of photographers this type of blur, which

I mean, tilt, in which they have out

of focus almost all the image and they

only focus, most of the time, in the

center.

Of course, having a lens like this, just

for that, is very worthy, but, I don't

know, it's like taking a Formula 1 and

not using it to the maximum, right?

So, I'm not entirely in favor.

Why?

Because if you do this effect, I mean,

the tilt-shift, the blur of only certain

parts, for example, the lower part or the

upper part, in the end, you will be

recognized as a photographer who uses the same

resource.

And that, in the end, is not very

good for us because they end up framing

you, not in a style, but in a

creative resource, which, in the end, I don't

consider it quite right.

When do I use this?

When do I focus or out of focus

at the bottom or at the top?

Well, when I have, for example, like in

this photograph, which was taken in a room

without any visual attraction, I mean, a very

ugly room, and it only had an interesting

light, but the space was very ugly.

I mean, to hide or hide parts of

the image or the photograph or the room

in which I was, that I don't want

to show.

And that helps me a lot.

Or even sometimes, for example, let's say we're

photographing a bride with a dress that doesn't

attract me, that doesn't finish convincing me, whatever.

And that's when I want to hide it,

I want to hide it, I want to

show that it's just a white dress, but

I don't want to show all the details

of the dress because they don't attract me.

So that's when I, you understand me, I

mean, what do I do?

Well, I mean, I just tilt the lens

down and I forget everything.

And that's it, you know what I mean?

In addition, there is also the possibility of

doing Shift.

What does Shift mean?

It's this, I don't know if you're seeing

it.

You see that the lens is going down,

or it can even go up.

Okay.

With that, we're going to tilt the lens

and we're going to correct all the verticals

perfectly.

What does that mean?

That, for example, speaking more or less in

a low-language language, okay?

I was reflected, my shadow was reflected just

below.

What do I do then?

the image?

that's when lenses like these, which were designed

for old reflexes, are being removed.

In fact, I removed this lens.

I bought it second-hand for 800 euros.

When it's new, it's worth almost 2,000

euros.

It's a lens that I would buy again

right now if it broke, because, as you

know, even though you don't use it much,

well, in pre-weddings, all pre-weddings, maybe

he does it with him, post-wedding, almost

all post-wedding, but in weddings, it's true

that carrying it with him throughout the wedding,

carrying it with him for 12 hours and

barely using it, just for five shots, damn,

it's a real bitch.
