This wedding was... two years ago, if I remember right.

This thing about making destination wedding by yourself

In this case, (especially in the night

or if you don't have external lighting,

it can be very complicated.

The bride, she is a photographer,

it was a very pretty and small wedding,

with a very relaxed atmosphere.

They improvised the dance, they didn't think it was going to be a dance

and in the outside there was no lighting.

and I was in ISO 1600, 3200..

and I thought: "I am in trouble, what can I do?".

For this wedding, I was with them for two days

and had the chance to chat with many of the guests,

made friends, and told them I was from Mexico;

It was a very nice community.

And, by the time that the couple said they will dance...

I was paralyzed:

"Fuck!, what can I do?"

And well, the typical "Uncles Bob" came here

(we call this way to those guests using camera

and many times they get in our way to achieve these photos)

Well, as you can see here they made me the photo.

Here it would have been completely dark,

no matter how much I would have pushed my camera

the desired result would not have come out.

So, they made the photo

they turned on their phones

(the light of their phones or the torch)

and they helped me illuminate this series of images.

And I used them for the frame, instead of hiding this.

It is like a concert, that everyone takes out their cell phone

in the middle of a romantic song

(or their mobil, or some years ago their lighters),

well, they helped me to achieve this photos.

I walked away and...

I really like how the light of the house mixes with their light.

It was something magic.

Here we could play with the lights.

This image was made thanks to the mobiles.

My advice is: Yes, it is our instinct is to tell the couple

to please ask the guests not to take out their phones, but

at night, if you don't have an assistant,

if it is only you and your camera

and you don't have lighting,

this can be a life saver tool

in very important moments, such as the groom/bride dance,

and in this case, the improvised dance.
