Brought to you by MrsKorea and mily2

This is the place, Your Highness.

This is Princess Hwa Wan's private residence. The War Minister came here.

It was the princess...?

How could that be?

Are you mistaken?

Did you make a mistake because of the darkness?

Forgive us, Your Highness, but we did not make a mistake.

Your Highness! Your Highness! (Episode 14)

- Your Highness...! - It can't be.

This cannot be!

The princess is my father's sister.

You are telling me that my own aunt is trying to kill me.

What does it mean?

That means that none other than his own sister killed my father!

Your Highness...!

Forgive me for saying this, but you must prepare yourself for the worst.

The princess was behind this. You cannot deny that, Your Highness!

They will soon be taking action.

Now you must prepare to seize all of them and reveal the truth, Your Highness!

The letter claims knowledge about the code of "Hwe Go Chun Sa",

as well as the theft of the white cotton.

Someone has investigated me to find out about all of these things.

Who is it?

Who would dare to send you such a letter?

If I knew that, why would I be here?

We may have a traitor in our midst because we lost ground in this past incident.

What do we do if that is true?

If that person decides to confess, we are all dead!

If the intention was to confess, then why would they have sent you this letter?

There is something else they want.

Are you there, Attendant Kwak?

Yes, Your Highness.

Go and send for Secretary Jung. Hurry!

You must be distracted with all the trouble in the Cabinet.

Forgive me for asking to see you.

Not at all. I too have been waiting to see you today.

Well, have you come to a decision?

Yes.

I'm sorry, but I do not think the position you offered suits me.

So you're rejecting me.

Alright.

You do not ask me why.

I want to tell you to come and see me if you change your mind,

but somehow I think it will be futile.

Yes, I think you're right.

A tree that is transplanted too many times does not grow well.

Once it is transplanted, it should lay down its roots.

Well then, have you found good soil for your roots?

Yes, I have found it in the East Palace. (East Palace - Palace of the Crown Prince)

The East Palace? You have chosen dangerous ground.

Yes.

I hope your tree does not cover the sky over my house.

If that happens, I will not contend myself with just cutting off the branches.

I just hope you will be gentle.

Is His Majesty still alone in his quarters?

Yes, he has refused his meals and his medicine.

Your Majesty, the Queen is here.

I came because I heard you had refused your meal and medicine, Your Majesty.

The prince has been proven innocent.

Why is your face so full of worry on such a joyous day?

Your Majesty...

I almost made a great mistake today.

I fell for a devious plot

and almost executed innocent men and decrowned the prince.

But everything was revealed and the matter was settled, Your Majesty.

Everything was revealed before a mistake was made. How fortunate that was, Your Majesty!

You're right. It was fortunate.

Today's incident was set straight.

But...

That incident...

Your Majesty, what do you mean by that incident?

What do you mean?

If this was not the first time...

If I had made the same mistake ten years ago...

Are you referring to Crown Prince Sado's incident?

Your Majesty, that was not a mistake!

I told you then to trust him, but was it not revealed that he was treacherous?

His death broke my heart, but we cannot deny that he was guilty!

Today's incident is different.

Please do not dredge up the past and worry yourself, Your Majesty!

My Lord, where have you been?

So you received this letter and ran over here?

How can you be so foolish!

As the princess mentioned, this person does not intend to confess.

What other reason could he have to send this letter?

He was trying to see what you would do!

He wanted to find out who you were dealing with!

But... but who...?

Who else could it be? Our prey is now hunting us!

Are you saying it's the prince? The prince knows everything?

What else did you do?

What did you do before you came here?

Your Excellency!

I sent someone to Mt. Myojok.

I thought someone would find out where they were.

I told them to abandon everything and move to another location.

I just sent a letter from here...

The secret location at Mt. Myojok has been found out. Hurry and take care of it!

Yes, My Lord.

Go and deliver this to the Chief of the Capital Army.

Yes, Your Highness.

Someone from the War Minister's side will send a messenger to the encampment.

We must not let them escape this time!

Yes, Your Highness!

This is an urgent message from His Excellency!

I understand. We will leave now!

Bad news, bad news!

- Bad news! - What is it?

- The Capital Army is here! - What?

- They are enemy soldiers! Arrest all of them! - Yes, Sir!

Halt!

The Capital Army has attacked. We will...

It's too late for that.

Take the men and retreat to the next location!

No one can be taken alive.

If you are not killed in combat, you must take your own life. Do you understand?

Yes, Sir!

We have cleared out the entire camp, Your Highness!

We have confiscated all the weapons and have arrested the War Minister's manservant.

We now have the evidence you wanted.

Your Highness...!

Your Highness...

This will be admitted as evidence for treason.

Take the War Minister's manservant and the weapons to the State Tribunal!

Yes, Your Highness!

Your Highness...

This is just the beginning.

We must now strengthen our hold on their necks!

I am truly ashamed.

The princess has been endangered because of me.

The milk has already been spilt.

I'll take care of everything. Please go back to your residence.

Wouldn't it better for me to go away?

No. If you do that, you will come under suspicion.

Don't worry and leave it to me, Your Excellency.

Then... I'll leave it in your hands, Secretary Jung!

What has happened to his manservant?

If it was a trap, he will have been caught.

If they had followed Minister Han, then I will be implicated for certain!

That is most likely.

It will be critical starting from now.

You must now listen to everything I say, Mother.

They have found the body of the Bureau artist

and the weapons used to kill him near Mt. Myojok.

Why do you think she did that, Minister?

Why did the princess do that to Father?

Your Highness...!

For many years, I have tried to identify the people who were trying to kill me.

I wanted to kill them when I found out.

But now...

I think it would have been better if I didn't know.

What is power?

What is king?

Why did my aunt kill my father?

And now I must entrap my aunt.

If I weren't the prince, none of this would have happened.

I don't know why I was born.

May I say something, Your Highness?

Everyone goes through what fate has in store for them.

Not only you, Your Highness, but all of your subjects.

If only you weren't born... If only these things didn't happen...

What is the use of these thoughts?

The only thing you should be doing now is to determine what action to take.

I understand the deep suffering you must be experiencing.

But they are the enemies of this nation and our history.

You must not hesitate in punishing them.

Is anybody there?

- Yes, Your Highness. - Summon the Chief of the Capital Army.

Is what the prince saying all true?

Yes, Your Majesty.

Last night, we cleared out the enemy soldiers from Mt. Myojok.

We also caught the manservant of the Minister of War.

He has already confessed that all of this was the doing of the War Minister.

At Mt. Myojok, we found evidence regarding the treasonous letter,

as well as the body of the Bureau Artist.

Alright. You may leave.

Yes, Your Majesty.

I am certain that this is not over.

The Minister of War will not be only one responsible for all of this.

There will be others with him.

Who else is there? Is there anyone else you found?

Tell me. Is there someone else?

Forgive me for saying this...

The person who planned all of this with the War Minister...

...is most likely Princess Hwa Wan, Your Majesty.

What are you saying? The princess?

Tell me! Is the princess really involved in this?

Yesterday, in order to ambush the War Minister,

I sent a letter to him describing his crimes.

After he received the letter, he went immediately to the princess' residence.

Soon after, a message was sent to Mt. Myojok from the princess' residence.

How...?

How could this be?

Your Majesty, Princess Hwa Wan is here.

- Why is he not responding? Tell him again! - But Your Highness...

Father, I have come on urgent business. Please allow me to enter.

I have not given you permission to enter!

Forgive me, Father, but I am here because of word of rebellion!

- Rebellion? - I am glad the prince is here as well.

Father, the Minister of War was the culprit behind the act of treason!

I was so shocked when I found out that I rushed here to tell you!

I have already heard about it from the prince.

Is that so?

But how do you know about this?

Why? Is it because you planned it together with him?

What do you mean, Father?

- Together? What do you mean? - Enough!

Are you telling lies in front of me?

If you are not involved in this,

then why did the War Minister go to your residence yesterday?

And how do you know about this?

I am innocent, Father! How can you suspect me?

It is true that the War Minister came to my residence.

But that is how I came to know about what he did!

The War Minister Han Jun Ho came to me and confessed.

He asked me to beg for his life.

But how could I forgive him for endangering the life of the prince?

That is why I rushed here, Father!

How can you try and deny your guilt with such a lie, Aunt?

A lie, Your Highness? That is not so!

How can you doubt my loyalty?

Go and bring the War Minister to me.

Did you say that the War Minister came to you and confessed?

Fine. I will interrogate him myself and find out if that is true!

If you are proven to have lied to me, I will not forgive you!

What is going on? What has happened?

Is that true, Sir?

We had a meeting today, and I don't think you'll be dismissed.

How? I was sure I would be dismissed!

The artists were all rewarded for having found the record that day.

They were rewarded even though it was you that found it. How could they dismiss you?

That's great, Song Yeon!

Dae Su! Song Yeon!

- You're here too, Sir Yi Chun. - Yes, I'm here too.

- I came to give her some good news. - I have good news too!

Dae Su, the minister who plotted against the prince has been arrested and sent to the Tribunal!

I saw it on the way here, but Dae Su was right. It was the War Minister!

Really? That man was arrested?

You wretched boy! I saw it with my own two eyes!

I must speak to the criminal alone. Make sure no one disturbs us.

Yes, My Lord.

- Go to the West Gate. - Yes, Sir!

Secretary Jung!

- Leave us. - Yes, My Lord.

- Are you alright, Your Excellency? - I was waiting for you.

What will you do now? When will I be rescued?

Secretary Jung!

Forgive me, but I do not think there is a way to save you.

What?

What did you just say? There is no way to save me?

Look here! Save me!

- Send in the private army and... - They have already been disbanded.

This is all because of your carelessness.

You should know that you should claim sole responsibility for all this, do you not?

All of this was done by yourself.

I came here to remind you of that.

Look here, Secretary Jung!

Look here, Secretary Jung!

How...?

How can they do this to me?

Has the Minister of War been transferred to the Tribunal?

Yes, My Lord.

- Alright, you may go on your way. - Yes, Sir.

Is that true?

The princess plotted to harm the prince?

Yes, Your Highness. The War Minister is now imprisoned because of it.

Not only that, but His Majesty has sworn to interrogate him and prove the princess' guilt.

Mother...!

Secretary Jung was at the Tribunal prison?

Yes, Your Highness.

If the princess was involved, then Secretary Jung will also have been part of it.

So why did he appear at the prison?

I wonder if he intended to speak with the Minister...

Your Majesty, we will begin the interrogation.

No. I will open his mouth myself.

Since the evidence is overwhelming, you will not be able to deny your crime.

This interrogation is to make sure that there is no doubt at all of your crime.

Therefore, if you tell me the truth, you will not be cut into six pieces but be beheaded.

Why did you go Princess Hwa Wan last night?

The princess has claimed that you confessed your crime and asked for mercy on your life.

Is that the truth?

Is that what the princess said?

That I confessed to her and begged her for mercy?

Speak! Who else was involved in the plot?

Was that truly Princess Hwa Wan?

No, that is not true, Your Majesty.

I did not plan this with the princess.

It wasn't just the princess.

All of those men over there... All of them were involved in the plot with me!

Most of the officials in government were involved in the plot with me, Your Majesty!

You wretches!

How can you pretend you don't know me?

Did you think that I would die alone being accused of this plot?

Silence! How dare you speak in that way?

Your Majesty, please shut your ears to these lies!

This is all lies, Your Majesty!

Alright. If you will say that, then I will accuse you first!

Your Majesty, arrest Secretary Lee Jung Tae

and Works Minister Cho Kwang Su along with the princess!

If you interrogate them, you will know the details of everything, Your Majesty!

Your Majesty, that is not true! The criminal is accusing us falsely!

- It is a trap, Your Majesty! - How can this be!

The princess...

Where is the princess?

I am innocent, Father! It is not true!

How could I dare to harm the prince and create chaos in the government?

This is all a trap of that criminal!

Please believe me, Father!

Chief Eunuch, hear my words.

Yes, Your Majesty.

Go and shut the gate of the Grand Palace.

Yes, Your Majesty.

This cannot be, Father.

His Majesty has ordered the gates to be shut.

What are you doing? Move aside! I said move!

Father! Open it! I said open it!

Father!

This cannot be, Father!

Please believe me!

Please... Please open this gate, Father!

Our turn may come.

The Sixth Royal Secretary and the Minister of Works have been implicated. We will not be safe!

You have messed everything up.

I will silence the War Minister tonight before he opens his mouth further.

That is not a good plan.

If he is assassinated, His Majesty will grow even more suspicious.

But if we leave him be, he may even implicate you, Your Majesty.

I will take care of that myself.

Go and deliver this message to the princess.

If she cannot obtain his Majesty's forgiveness, she must take her own life.

Yes, Your Majesty.

It wasn't just the princess.

All of those men over there... All of them were involved in the plot with me!

Most of the officials in government were involved in the plot with me, Your Majesty!

Hand one over.

What?

You should give one to Song Yeon who was the real hero.

Here.

This is for Song Yeon, and this one too.

Sorry, but this is for Song Yeon. And one more.

But... how did that child find the painting that you drew?

How could you have forgotten when you were the one who drew it?

But then again, you're so clueless. How could you have remembered?

I agree!

Did you call for me, Sir?

The artists have voted to keep you here, so I will accept their decision.

Make sure it doesn't happen again.

Yes, Sir. Thank you!

Cold! Cold!

Sir!

- Are you here? - Yes.

Are you going somewhere?

- I'm going to leave this place. - Why? Where are you going?

What will I do if you leave?

You wretched boy. You hated me just a few days ago.

Well that... that was because you spoke unkindly of His Highness.

Oh, did you know?

Today, the prince that you were so sure would lose, caught all the criminals today!

Yes, I know. I was on my way to congratulate him.

What?

I am Tutor of the Office of the Crown Prince, Hong Gook Young.

- Take a seat here. - Yes, Your Highness.

I read your letter.

Because of this letter, we were able to ambush the War Minister and catch them.

I am glad to be of help.

But how did you come to know of these things?

I was merely lucky.

Can I ask you the reason why you sent me such a letter?

What other reason could I have?

I wished to gain favor in your eyes.

You are a honest man.

At times, it gets me into trouble. Please forgive me if I have offended you.

Not at all.

I see ambition in your eyes.

Why me?

You know my standing in this palace.

You're right, Your Highness.

I have an ambition for power.

I know that I will do anything to gain it.

But I also believe that power gained by such means must be used carefully.

Isn't that how a man must live?

I believe that if I serve you, I will be able to attain both.

Who.... who are you?

Who are you?

Who is it?

Is anyone there?

Guards! Where are the prison guards?!

Who are you?

Your Majesty!

There was talk of sending an assassin, but I objected to it.

There are many things you have done, therefore you must pay for your crimes.

Your family honor will be protected.

Your heir's life will also be protected.

You know that I do not lie, Minister.

Therefore, before I change my mind...

You must show me your resolve, Minister.

Your Majesty, something has happened!

What is it?

Your Highness! Your Highness!

Your Highness! Your Highness!

Your Highness! Please wake up!

What did you say? The War Minister has committed suicide?

He tore his clothes to write this and hung himself.

He has written that he takes sole responsibility

and his accusations of the princess and the other ministers...

...were all false.

How could this be?

Did he really commit suicide?

We will have to examine him, but I don't think he was killed.

I am sure he hung himself.

The princess is battling with death, Your Majesty!

Her fever is so high that there is nothing I can do for her.

Nothing you can do for her?

- Are you saying she could lose her life? - Please take my life, Your Majesty!

Your Majesty, how can you be so cruel to the princess?

Will you kill her?

Even though the War Minister accused her, those were just his words.

If the princess is innocent, then what will you do?

- That is enough! - No, Your Majesty!

Even though I may lose my life for this, I will not sit by and watch tragedy hit the throne again!

My Queen!

Even though he was a criminal, you suffered when you sent him to die.

Even if no one knows how you feel, I know your heart.

Why do you wait to experience that cruel suffering again, Your Majesty?

How precious was your daughter to you?

Will you sit there and watch her die?

If she is found guilty later, then it is not too late to punish her.

So now... please have mercy on her!

Let's go.

It is certain there were other conspirators, but it looks as if it will be buried with him.

Forgive me, Your Majesty.

It is not your fault.

Even though the criminal is dead, I will not allow this matter to go unresolved.

Make sure that you reveal the truth.

Yes, Your Majesty.

I am sending the princess into exile.

If her guilt is found later, I will punish her then.

Yes, Your Majesty.

If you want to know what I think, I already knew this was going to happen.

But there is no need to be frustrated.

What do you mean?

It is most likely true that most of the ministers in government were involved in this.

Even the princess was not excluded.

Punishing the princess will be futile.

With this incident, you have found their tail.

It is better to hold their tail without letting it go.

If you keep holding it and pull it at the right time,

then you will be able to see its body as well as its face.

See the prince before you leave.

When you have no choice but to bow your head, you must bow it low.

And until the day where you can have your revenge,

remember that feeling.

Yes, Your Majesty.

I have troubled you because of my foolishness and weakness.

I do not know how to repay you for the trouble, Your Highness.

But please remember my loyalty to you.

Why, Aunt...

...did you frame my father?

Your Highness... What do you mean by that?

I just want to know the reason.

My father was your brother.

How could you have driven him to his death?

It is a misunderstanding, Your Highness. How could I have done such a thing?

- Princess...! - But if someone had done such a thing...

What reason could there be, Your Highness?

Was it not because the late Crown Prince first drew his sword?

I will take my leave now.

Please take care of your health.

Are you that happy?

Of course! I finally have my own shop!

Is this a new writing materials shop?

Welcome! You're my first customer so I'll give you a great price.

This brush, this brush and that brush... Give it all to me.

All?

I brought this for you, Maestro!

What's the matter with you?

That brush is not suitable for a genius' hands.

Use this brush to ease the loneliness of all the young men in the Capital, Maestro!

- Is this really mink fur? - Yes.

What?

- What's going on? - Someone from the palace is here to see Song Yeon.

What? Song Yeon?

Are you the Bureau damo, Sung Song Yeon?

Yes.

You have been summoned to the palace. Make preparations.

What? The palace?

Yes. The prince has asked to see you.

- Give it to her. - Yes, Madam.

Who is this? Is it really my nephew, Park Dae Su?

Look at the fabric on this! The palace really has some nice things!

I know!

- Oh Uncle, put this on for me. - Alright.

But you know, Dae Su... Why didn't the prince ask for me?

I helped out a lot too!

You spent most of the time crying that you were going to be executed!

I'm going to tell the prince what you did!

Wh... what?

- Tell him what? Tell him what? - Uncle! Uncle!

Are you ready?

- We have to hurry! - Yes Sir, we're almost ready!

Oh my goodness! Song Yeon is so pretty!

- Why is she being called to the palace? - Why else? She helped solve the incident!

She's so lucky!

I'll go and tell His Highness you are here. Wait a while.

I am over here.

- So you've come. - Your Highness...

Your...Your Highness...

Welcome. Song Yeon... Dae Su...

With your help, His Highness was able to overcome great obstacles.

You will be given a great reward.

Your Highness, you don't need to do that.

We did it because we wanted to help you, not for a reward.

I know what you're trying to say.

But this is a reward the prince is giving to a subject for his effort, so don't reject it.

But Your Highness...

But the reason I called you here is because of this.

Here.

And this is for you, Song Yeon.

Open it.

That is the bow tip I have been using. Does it not emanate strength?

I used it to exhibit my skills to hundreds of my Royal Guards. It will be of help to you.

Your Highness...!

And that is for you to use when you draw at the Bureau, Song Yeon.

Your Highness, how could I dare to draw at the Bureau?

What do you mean?

Why can't you draw at the Bureau?

These are given to you not as your prince, but as your friend.

I hope that you receive my gifts.

- Your Highness... - Your Highness...

Dae Su wants to see the training ground and quarters of the Royal Guards, so show him around.

Yes, Your Highness.

- Come with me. - Yes, Sir.

Then I'll be going, Your Highness.

What do you want to do, Song Yeon?

- I'm alright, Your Highness. - Then come with me.

- What? - I have something to show you.

This book of paintings was given to me by an interpreter from his trip to China.

Take a look at it.

What do you think?

I have never seen anything like it.

The detail and precision of this paintings... they are so different than what I've seen.

Really? Perhaps it is because they were drawn by a woman.

- What? A woman? - That's right.

These drawings were done by a female artist by the name of Yuh Sook Jin.

In China, women are able to become artists and draw.

In my opinion, you are talented.

But why do you ignore your talent and think you cannot because you are a Damo?

It is backwards to think that you cannot draw because you are a woman and a Damo.

I will change tradition and laws that support this backward thinking.

Use your talent and be a Royal Artist at the Bureau.

Your Highness...

Song Yeon, don't hesitate because it seems difficult. Try and make it happen.

Your Highness!
