Legend of White Snake

Episode 11

Don't blame me for being heartless. Who asked you to be so unlucky,

seeing what you shouldn't have seen.

I didn't expect there would be so many secrets at Liang Manor.

I will reveal them all.

I have repeated myself.

I only asked you to get rid of Xu Xian. Who asked you to touch Suzhen?

I didn't!

If I didn't do that, how would I get rid of Bai Suzhen's suspicions?

Now, Xu Xian is taking the punishment for her.

She won't suspect you.

Everything you say is true?

If you don't believe me, you can personally go ask Miss Bai what happened.

I only used the Demon Shackle to lock her up in prison.

Other than that, I didn't do anything else.

If I go ask her personally, wouldn't she start to suspect me?

I advise you not to do your foxy tricks with me.

If Xu Xian doesn't die in a few days, I'll let you die.

Don't worry.

I'll definitely make Prime Minister Liang execute Xu Xian soon.

But it's best that you do not stay in Lin'an City for the next few days.

This way, no matter what happens,

Bai Suzhen will not come to suspect you.

I have my own ideas about what I need to do.

I don't need you to tell me what to do.

You are now a seven-tailed fox.

If you don't want to become a dead fox,

then don't come up with any wrong ideas.

So you are saying that your father wanted to impeach Prime Minister Liang for corruption back then,

so the Prime Minister is so vengeful that he would rather kill you than pursue the real murderer.

In addition to the old conflicts,

I suspect that the evidence that my father collected still exists now.

Prime Minister Liang is afraid of what the Xu family will do,

so he wants to eliminate us all.

So, that's why he sent men to search your home.

Search my home? Are my sister and brother-in-law okay?

Don't worry. Your sister is fine.

It's just that... they took some items with them.

We don't know if there was any evidence there.

I mentioned the things that my father left that day.

It was to purposely test him about what he would do.

Therefore, you understand regardless of how this case will be resolved,

he will definitely want to see you dead.

That's why you won't defend yourself and won't let me help, right?

Prime Minister Liang is ruthless and powerful.

To fight him openly is like throwing an egg against a rock.

He has total authority at the royal court.

Only the compassionate and righteous Prince Mu can counter him.

Then I will go to Prince Mu.

But Prince Mu has been commanding the army in the outer region these years.

It's like having a fire but the water is too far to help.

Suzhen, I just have one favor to ask of you.

Speak. I will definitely do it.

When I was young, Prince Mu and I were friends.

I will write a letter.

Please find a way to get the letter to Prince Mu.

I'll list all the problems about Prime Minister Liang in the letter,

so that Prince Mu can pursue the case.

If our grievances can be vindicated,

my father and I will rest in peace in the netherworld.

Don't say this kind of depressing thing.

Hanwen, listen to me. You can't give up.

If you die, I won't take care of your family for you.

I will come after you, from heaven to hell,

I will always find you.

Suzhen...

If you live, I live.

In life or death, we accompany each other.

So even if it's just for me, you should not give up.

I don't care how Prime Minister Liang will control everything.

I'm not afraid. I will definitely save you from this place.

I promise. I'll take good care of myself.

I'll wait for you to come and save me.

Miss Bai! Miss Bai, come with me now.

I'm telling you. That prisoner committed suicide out of fear for his crime!

Leave with me now to avoid more problems. Hurry!

Go now, Suzhen.

Sir! Sir! I have bad news.

Prince Mu has surrounded the manor with his people, saying you embezzled funds and harmed a colleague.

He even says he'll take you to be interrogated at the Ministry of Justice.

Sir! Sir! It's bad!

What's wrong?

Sir! Sir! Are you all right?

Are you hurt?

I'm fine.

So it was a dream.

How are things going?

The men we sent were unable to kill Xu Xian.

Useless!

You can't even kill a scholar who has no strength to tie up a rooster.

How did you handle things?

It was my fault.

We almost did it but were interrupted by Li Gongfu and Bai Suzhen.

But rest assured, as long as they don't find a living culprit, they won't find us.

Who did you say interrupted you?

Li Gongfu and Bai Suzhen.

They suddenly appeared at the prison and even spoke a lot with Xu Xian.

It's not wise to try again so soon.

No matter what, you must capture Bai Suzhen.

It's very likely that she took the evidence. Kill her after capturing her.

Yes, Sir.

- But... - But what?

I heard that Bai Suzhen is no ordinary person. She seems to know some evil spells.

I'm afraid it won't be easy to capture her.

I don't care what you do. She cannot live!

Yes, Sir.

Quickly do your job!

Hurry!

Chivalrous lady, please save me. They want to kill me to silence me!

- Officer Li. - Officer Li.

You're all busy.

The Magistrate is looking for me today...

- Why are you running off? - Li Gongfu.

Greetings, Lord Magistrate.

Is there a reason that you requested for my attendance?

Men, come take off Constable Li's blade.

From today onwards, Li Gongfu is dismissed from his chief constable position in Qiantang County.

- Yes, Sir. - Hold on!

Lord, what crime did I commit that you have to dismiss me from my position?

Xu Xian is your wife's younger brother. Instead of keeping a distance, you used your occupation

to privately release Xu Xian.

No, Lord. I went to visit Xu Xian that night.

I didn't mean to privately release him.

Stop arguing.

I have decided to dismiss you.

- You'll never be rehired again. - Lord!

Hey, Lord!

Lord, you have to distinguish between right and wrong! I'm innocent!

- Sorry. - Sorry, Older Brother.

You are really taking it off?

Let me tell you. I will be back.

Sharpen my blade twice a day.

Okay, Older Brother.

Do what you are supposed to do!

Steward Qin, is the Prime Minister happy with my dismal arrangement?

You did very well. The Prime Minister hopes to conclude the case as soon as possible.

He doesn't want the killer of his son

to live too long.

The case will end soon.

Prime Minister Liang is afraid that evidence of his corruption will fall into the hands of the Xu family.

That's why he wants to kill Xu Xian.

Who's the killer who killed his son then?

No, I must stay calm.

They didn't succeed in taking action the first time. They will plan for a second time.

I must find the real killer as soon as possible. If not, Hanwen will be in danger.

Xiao Qing, you are back.

If I didn't come back, you would be badly bullied by others.

You are hopelessly stupid. Don't say that you are my older sister.

No need to investigate further. I already did it for you.

Really?

Of course. When I take action, nothing is impossible for me.

Luyi, come in.

- Greetings, Miss Bai. - This is...

She's Liang Jun's concubine. She lost favor when Hu Kexin entered the family.

By the way, Hu Kexin almost killed her yesterday. I saved her.

Okay, tell her quickly. Why did Hu Kexin want to kill you?

I accidentally found out that Hu Kexin wanted to harm Old Master Liang.

That day...

I wanted to uncover her wrongdoings.

Coincidentally, I saw her behaving suspiciously and tailed her.

Madam! Madam!

The Datura flower that you wanted, I got it for you. Look.

Did the physician suspect anything when you got this?

How could he? I broke the legs of several people,

and told them to go to the medical halls in the city to seek treatments.

The medical halls prescribed the Datura flowers for them to stop the pain.

Take a look. All the Datura flowers in Lin'an are here.

Thank you very much for this.

Who's there?!

Luckily, I escaped that day,

but she subsequently discovered the leaves that were stuck on my shoes.

She found out the matter was exposed and wanted to kill me to shut my mouth.

Do you know where the unused Datura flowers are?

Hu Kexin hid them

underneath a peach tree at the back of the superficial mountain.

I get it now. Stay here for the time being. It's not safe out there.

Thank you, Miss Bai.

Older Sister, the truth is finally out. That Hu Kexin is too evil.

It's all her scheme. She wanted to take my thousand-year-old spirit core. That's why she plotted this.

Hu Kexin?

She was that nine-tailed fox at Bai manor.

She took the Demon Shackle from Jing Song

and wanted to obtain the thousand-year-old Spirit Core from me at the prison.

Hanwen took the punishment on my behalf. That's how he saved me.

Ridiculous.

I already said that rotten rat was no good.

He's too much. He even wanted to harm you. Watch how I tear apart his rat's hole.

That fox demon is highly skilled in manipulating a person's heart.

She first impersonated Hanwen to deceive you in order to instigate trouble in our friendship.

She subsequently instigated Jing Song to go against Hanwen.

She wants to produce disagreements among us and destroy us individually.

So, she impersonated Xu Xian?

I was even hoodwinked by that fox demon's illusions.

- I will skin her when I see her next! - Wait.

What did you just say?

I just said... I will skin her when I see her next...

No, the sentence before this.

I was even hoodwinked by that fox demon's illusions.

That's right. Illusions. Why didn't I think of this?

Xiao Qing, put up a performance with me.

I want to give her a taste of her own medicine.

All right.

Look at what's posted there.

- What's written there? - Physician Xu will be beheaded.

This is bad.

They are going to behead Mister Xu tomorrow at noon.

I'm going to tear that notice.

Wait.

Beheading criminals needs to be done after autumn.

They disregarded the law and even put up such fanfare.

I fear they want to lure the snake out from the hole.

Lure the snake? Are you saying they want to capture us?

Look carefully at the surroundings in detail.

That is...

That's the Demon-Defeating Spell from Hidden Spirit Temple.

I don't know what tricks Hu Kexin is using,

but she has joined with the officials to take us down.

What should we do? Mister Xu will be beheaded tomorrow.

Are we going to sit and do nothing?

They want to catch us from behind. Let's trick them using their own trick.

[Nüwa Temple]

Someone is here.

Fall back into positions!

Get up. Quick.

Hurry up.

Miss Bai, what brings you here?

Greetings, Respected Immortals.

I'm here to ask for a favor. I wonder if you could help me.

What did she just call us? Respected Immortals?

It has been more than five hundred years.

Someone has finally acknowledged us.

Suddenly so high-profile,

I feel rather shy about this.

How did you know our identities?

I saw you using the Dragon Palace Secret Treasure to reinforce the spell at Bai manor.

I guessed you must be Respected Immortals from the Eastern Sea.

You are touring the Mortal Realm. I believe you have a task to do.

Xiao Qing's identity is probably not that ordinary, right?

Miss Bai is smarter than others. You are right.

Xiao Qing is definitely not a Little Snake Spirit from West Lake.

It's just that, her identity...

we dare not reveal it. Please keep this a secret for us.

If Xiao Qing finds out our identities, there will be big trouble.

Respected Immortals, don't worry. If not, I wouldn't have come here alone without Xiao Qing.

I'm here because of Mister Xu's case.

I have a presumptuous request.

Miss Bai, it's fine. Just tell us.

Xiao Qing and I found out that critical evidence for this case is at Liang Manor.

But there's a Demon Shackle there. We can't resist it.

You are a group of Respected Immortals. You are probably not afraid of it.

Hence, I would like to request that you go with me.

I see. Don't worry.

We can definitely do it.

Thank you very much.

- Come! - Excuse me!

- Excuse me. - Move aside.

Ah Luo! Big Drum! Tear this now!

The magistrate misjudged the case and disregarded a person's life!

Physician Xu was falsely accused!

Move aside!

The magistrate misjudged the case and disregarded a person's life!

Liang Jun was killed by someone else.

Physician Xu was falsely accused.

Liang Jun was killed by someone else and Physician Xu was the scapegoat.

What are you doing?

- Let's go! - Catch them! - Don't run!

Stop there!

Let's go.

What?

You guys come from Bai Mansion?

Why can't I sense a demonic aura from you?

Do you think we are like you who's a rancid vixen?

You stink so bad that even the whole street can smell you.

Don't be happy. With this Demon Shackle, you won't be able to escape.

After Xu Xian's beheading, I will return to eliminate you.

- Demon Shackle? - We are doomed.

Bad news, Lord.

Lord, someone out there beat the drum to air his grievance again.

Someone beat the drum again? Who was it?

It's Xu Xian's older sister, Xu Jiaorong.

She insisted that we falsely accused Xu Xian. She's here to beat the drum.

What ruckus is she creating?

His case has already been concluded.

Tell her to get lost. If she still doesn't,

cane her.

But she's not the only one out there.

Whoever else is out there, just cane them.

Lord Magistrate, who are you trying to cane?

Greetings, Prince Mu.

The murder of Liang Jun is rather suspicious.

Furthermore, the Xu family found critical evidence.

Aren't you going to retry this case immediately?

Yes.

Demon Shackle?

Spit on it!

The fox has eyes but is blind.

We are the real immortals.

Exactly.

[A just trial by an honest official]

Lord Magistrate, this medical journal proves that Jishi Hall does not have Datura flowers at all.

Xu Xian could not have mixed Datura flowers into Liang Jun's medication.

The various medicine shopkeepers in Lin'an City have confirmed that someone bought all of the Datura flowers.

Moreover, Miss Luyi's testimony proves that

the one who bought a large supply of Datura flowers

was Hu Kexin.

The case is clear now. Your Excellency, can we close the case?

These are only statements from one party.

That's true. A case cannot be judged from the testimony of one party.

This is a matter of life and death. We must be prudent, of course.

Then, how about we take a trip to Lord Liang's mansion?

Interrogate that Hu Kexin properly.

This...Yes, Sir.

What do you think?

Stop walking like a crab.

Then, how should I walk?

This is the celestial wine from the Dragon King's palace.

Whoever drinks this, their original forms will show. This time,

Hu Kexin will not be able to hide her fox tail anymore.

- Did you remember? - Let's go.

Old Master just passed away. I'm still showing filial piety.

I can only use tea to replace wine as a toast to you.

I wonder why you are here.

There are still some doubts regarding Lord Liang's case.

I'm here with Prince Mu to look at the scene again.

Prince Mu?

Miss Kexin, what's the matter?

De... Demon!

Quick! Catch that demon!

It's a Datura flower.

So it was that demon that killed Magistrate Liang!

After her! We must catch her.

Yes, Sir!

Demon! Where do you think you're going?

Safe travels, customer.

Buy some buns! Delicious buns!

Demon, where do you think you're going?

Murder! The monk has murdered someone!

Let's see where you can run to!

Monk, why are you so vicious?

That's right. What grudges does this old lady have with you that you want to kill her?

Benefactors, I'm catching a demon. Please move aside and don't stop me.

Demon? What demon?

Even if we can't recognize a demon, we can recognize a human.

This monk must have gone mad.

[Lin'an Prison]

You may go, Physician Xu.

Sorry for the trouble.

- Hanwen. - Older Sister.

That's enough. He's out. Why are you still crying?

- Are you all right? - I'm fine.

All right. You've been acquitted, and we've discovered the real killer.

Hanwen, let's go home quickly and clean up. Wash with some pomelo leaves.

I never thought that I would be acquitted of the crime.

This is all thanks to Prince Mu. He came to Lin'an City out of the blue just to see you.

Otherwise, we wouldn't have gotten the magistrate to retry the case.

Prince Mu?

Oh, right. Prince Mu is out there waiting for you. Let's go. Come.

Come, Hanwen. Take it slow.

Your Highness.

I thank Prince Mu for saving my life.

It's nothing. It's good that you're fine.

Did you have a hard time in prison?

Look at you. You've lost some weight.

Hanwen, where do you feel unwell?

It's nothing. Perhaps I caught a cold in prison. Thank you for your concern, Your Highness.

Yes, Hanwen is feeling weak. I'll take him home soon.

Weak? Could you have-

Your Highness, we have to be on our way.

Did you forget? We still have to go to Jiujiang to investigate the water transportation.

Then, I'll be leaving now.

Hanwen, remember to take your medicine on time.

If your body can't keep up, you mustn't endure it!

- Also- - Your Highness, Hanwen is weak.

You have many things to attend to. We'll be heading home first.

I thank you, Your Highness.

I take my leave.

Let's go.

Older Sister, you almost exposed yourself.

Xu Xian is very smart and can see through people. What if he finds out? There will be trouble.

Luckily, you reminded me.

We did so many things for him. He doesn't know that you helped him.

It's fine as long as he's safe and sound.

[Jishi Hall]

Yinxiang, get the hairpin for me. I'm going to visit Brother Hanwen.

Monk?

You... What are you trying to do?

Yinxiang! Don't come near me.

Yinxiang, quick.

There's a fox demon hidden here. It's urgent. Please let me in.

Previously, it was a centipede spirit. It's now a fox spirit.

You even barged into someone's home.

Are you planning improper behavior because you saw the beauty of Miss?

Amitabha.

Ah Fu, Ah Gui!

Stay here and watch him. If he dares to take a step inside Jishi Hall,

I'll fire you two.

- Yes, Miss. - Yes, Miss.

Let's go.

Benefactor!

Father didn't give me any jewelry. I have to come here every time to search for one.

This hairpin is Madam's dowry.

To add further, Hawksbill turtle can ward off evil and it's expensive, too.

The workmanship is great, too. It's really priceless.

Old Master wants to keep it as a family heirloom.

The family heirloom will be mine sooner or later.

It was definitely here before.

Old Master feared you would use it to save someone's life and must have pawned it.

Go and check there.

Miss, I found it.

He hid it underneath his pillow?

He didn't even complain that it was uncomfortable. My father is very petty.

That bald donkey should have left.

Want to fight with me? You are still inexperienced.

That rotten monk cast an escape-proof net.

Fine. If you are heartless, don't blame me for being unrighteous.

Who are you? How did you come in?

Ignore her. Let's go.

Yinxiang?

You can't go in! Come back!

Release me.

Evil creature, release her!

Rotten monk. These people's lives are in your hands.

You forced me to slaughter them.

Spare her life and I will let you go.

A monk is really very compassionate.

Fine. Eliminate the spell first and I will release her.

Consider yourself as being tactful.

Ruyi!

I'll catch your tail and see where else you can run to!

Father?

Father?

Father!

Sister!

Sister, are you all right?

I saw a lot of commotion here and came right away.

This is...

This is the Buddhist treasure, Wisdom Mirror.

It can remove any illusions.

Wherever it shines, demons cannot escape.

But this kind of weapon exhausts much energy,

one cannot sustain without a high level of cultivation.

Fa Hai has already taken out this Wisdom Mirror. It means that the fox demon is very vicious.

That fox demon has only cultivated for a few hundred years. It doesn't make sense that Fa Hai can't control her.

The fox demon specializes in changing forms.

She can influence people's minds and she is vicious.

Right now, it's broad daylight.

If she transforms into a mortal and hides among the civilians,

Fa Hai would be concerned about hurting other people.

Xiao Qing, let's go help him.

I knew that Fa Hai wasn't that good.

I have to come out at this critical time.

Sister, if it wasn't you asking...

Sister!

The Nine-Tailed Fox's illusions can only be seen through by someone with a thousand-year cultivation.

Fa Hai is powerful, but he is a mortal.

If not, he wouldn't have used the Wisdom Mirror as an aide.

Then what should we do?

Lead the people away from the street.

As long as there's no one on the street,

it won't be easy for the Nine-Tailed Fox to hide.

But how do we move the people?

I have an idea.

This is strange.

Where did it go?

I think I saw a ghost.

What are you looking for?

Oh right!

Where is my sword?

Your sword?

Didn't the Magistrate confiscate it?

What? The Magistrate took away the blade, not the sword.

I'm talking about the sword given to me by that monk from Jinshan Temple.

That sword.

Didn't you say it wasn't good and threw it away into a stack of firewood?

- Where? - Firewood stack.

My brain... Yes, yes, yes, the firewood stack.

Tell you what. I found it. Let me tell you.

I've patrolled the streets for so many years, it feels uncomfortable when I don't have anything hanging by my side.

It doesn't matter if it's not good, at least it'll help me feel brave.

You are going on patrol?

Haven't you already been...

I don't have time to talk to you. My buddies are waiting for me.

Save me some food.

- Go slowly. - I know.

So that's what happened.

You are so smart.

Then, I'll take care of the road down there.

What's going on?

I remember this alleyway runs into an intersection after a hundred steps.

But I still haven't seen it after walking this long?

That's right. I turn right around this broken brick.

Sister, what do we do? The illusion didn't stop him.

He is carrying the Demon Slaying Sword. With Fa Hai around, he should be all right.

Why am I here again? And there are fewer and fewer people on the street.

There's insufficient spiritual strength to support the Wisdom Mirror.

I must have run into a ghost.

- The road is... - Big Brother! Big Brother!

It's here!

- Big Brother. - My buddies.

- Big Brother. - Big Brother.

Let me tell you. Even though I'm dismissed, the case needs to be investigated.

This young brother looks unfamiliar.

Are you new?

Right. Who are you?

Who is that? I've never seen him.

Be careful, Benefactor.

This is...

I'm an old Gu Clan Fox Demon

which has transformed into a beautiful woman.

It took me several hundred of years to have cultivated this look.

If you kill me, wouldn't it be a waste?

Fox Demon, do not fool people again. You've killed so many people.

This is just evil hiding under a beautiful body. There is no waste that you die.

Take it down.

Buddha is supposed to be merciful to all living creatures.

Why won't you let go of me?

Do you think the clan of Nine-Tailed Foxes do not deserve mercy?

All lives have hearts. You have slaughtered the innocents and turned into evil.

You do not have remorse over countless of killings.

I will annihilate you demon today.

Stinky monk!

Since you won't let me off,

I will let everyone here

die with me!
