[ "Tomorrow There Will Be Clear Skies" by Estelle ]

♫ Chasing down the moon and stars one by one, whistling and urging my horse into the west wind when the north is snowy ♫

♫ Elatedly using my sword, to remove and leave behind the three thousand worries like hairs from my head ♫

♫ A mountain that touches the sky and a river, meeting by chance once in the secular world ♫

♫ Love and hate enhance the journey, moving forward over time ♫

♫ Drifting through clouds like a lonely wild goose on an unfurled painted scroll ♫

♫ How much more dazzling the blue dome of heaven is as a pair! ♫

♫ My worldly heart is focused upon a pot of wine and a small fire ♫

♫ Tomorrow there will be clear skies, laughter and sorrow surging like a gathering storm ♫

♫ This life, though free and unfettered, is also shared together ♫

♫ Gratitude and grudges both target me, spellbound as though in a dream ♫

♫ Tomorrow there will be clear skies, in the twinkling of an eye, as gentle and tender as in the past ♫

♫ Rushing toward that rainbow's end... ♫

♫ to embrace each other ♫

♫ Bevies of tea girls come in to play with elder brothers and old officials who love to eat spicy food ♫

♫ Clamoring like startled crows, grabbing at Imperial troops, moving to and fro with laughter ♫

♫ Heads like empty gourds, disobediently getting up at midnight to sweep the courtyard ♫

♫ Oh what a nice little drinking house, blessedly sheltering one's excesses... ♫

[ Episode 3 ]

Chief Long, calm down, please.

Nobody expected someone out of the blue would thwart your plan!

Don't worry.

The surplus amount from your bid this time, I'll get someone to send it to you tonight.

Wonderful! Then I can get hundreds of rare articles for Teacher.

Chief Long, take some rest.

Chief Long.

She said her son, Dachun, is a member of your gang.

He has been missing for days! The family depends on him for a living.

She hopes that Chief can help to find him.

Dachun is missing?

Madam, don't worry. When did you last see him?

Mother, I'm full. Here.

Dachun, let's go.

Mother, I'm going out with them.

Don't worry, I'll be back soon.

Madam, don't worry. I'll get the men to look for your son immediately.

Thank you, Chief Long.

You are welcome.

Let's go.

Before the auction, I saw Lao Wu, the tomb robber.

He said, before he entered the city this morning for peddling,

he saw Dachun at the door.

Before he could go up to greet him, he was gone!

Why didn't you tell me earlier?

Would you have admitted it if I had told you earlier?

This is the rare article?

This is just a horsetail whisk.

Good luck indeed. Otherwise, how much money would I have wasted?

Five thousand taels.

Ten thousand.

It's ten thousand taels! Ten thousand taels gone to waste!

Did you pretend to go on the stage to make a bid

and replace the gold thread with horsetail whisk?

I never expected the thieves of Dragon Bamboo Gang to be so despicable.

Where is my gold thread?

What do you mean, "thieves"?

Watch your words!

Watch your hand too.

Gold thread?

As my teacher puts it, you're too obsessed and take everything as gold thread.

Forget it. Just take it as a lesson.

Give me the gold thread,

or else you can't leave this place.

A good dog doesn't block the way. I have no time to blabber with you.

Get out of the way!

Long Aoyi, I have concrete evidence.

You can't deny it.

This is what I found at the site where the gold thread was lost.

This is the clothing of our Dragon Bamboo Gang.

What now? You want to make a living in our gang?

There is evidence.

Looks like they can't deny it!

That's right.

That's right. How can a young lass be qualified to be the chief of Dragon Bamboo Gang?

She got this position by using fraud and lying, right?

Exactly!

That's right.

All of you, shut up!

Whoever uses this despicable way to slander our gang,

I will not let them off.

Let me say this one more time.

Our gang never engage in stealing, fraud and gambling.

Anyone who violates that, their limbs' tendons will be broken!

It is said that they played a trick by smashing a bowl at Wanhua Tower to defeat Snake Gang.

Such a despicable means of stealing gold thread

isn't what a Chief should do. It's hard to gain respect that way!

Am I right, everyone?

That's right.

Stop spouting nonsense!

Give me back my gold thread.

Exactly. He has the evidence!

Return it to him.

Return it to him.

What are you waiting for?

Return it to him!

Stop talking!

Dachun?

Chief! Don't run!

Don't go!

Wu Lin, how is it going?

Your Highness, look.

- Pepper. - Right.

Wu Lin, find out in secret if the auction has ended.

They have sold off the last item.

The people are coming out.

Let me go!

What are you doing, you rascal?

Let me go!

Help!

You! Help me!

Stop right there!

Why did you hit him?

Let me down!

Your Highness! Your Highness!

Be gentle! Do you know how to be gentle to a girl?

- Stop. - Officer,

I'm afraid you have the wrong person.

She is the thief!

The wrong person indeed! He is the one who kidnaps a girl publicly.

Shut up, both of you!

Right or wrong, it is up to the magistrate to judge!

- Officer. - Guard them well.

Aren't they the two from Yincheng?

They are felons!

Lock them up in the same cell, and wait for the trial tomorrow.

Yes.

The same cell?

It's too late to regret now.

He is the sixth son of the Emperor, His Imperial Highness Prince Zhao!

How dare you offend him!

Lock them up!

W-Who?

Guard them well.

- Prince? - Prince?

Hey.

[ New Silk Road ]

Yan Bin.

Miss Du.

Where are you going? Where's your Master?

You don't know? Master has been arrested by Lord Du and is in jail!

What?

I'm in a hurry!

- Father! - Xian'er, where did you go?

Didin't I ask you to accompany Prince Zhao and show him around Yincheng?

- Li Qingliu, he-- - Li Qingliu!

Li Qingliu and Long Aoyi injured His Imperial Highness Prince Zhao at the black market in Nancheng!

Long Aoyi.

Xian'er, don't you know that Concubine De is very powerful in the palace?

Instead of getting along with Prince Zhao well,

you had him get hurt while in Yincheng!

If the Imperial Court has to find the one responsible, how are we going to answer for it？

This is just great! Everyone in YIncheng knows I'm a prince.

How can I go to those places later?

Your Highness, I beg your pardon.

The situation went out of control, so I reported to the provincial governor.

Let's go now!

As ordered by Lord Du, Your Highness is unwell. Please stay here and rest.

Who is unwell? The physician was here and I'm in a good condition!

I beg your pardon, Your Highness. I am just following orders.

You see?

Du Changfeng is so bold!

He dares to put me under house arrest! Get him over here right now!

Yes.

The female ruffian of Dragon Bamboo Gang?

She ruined my gold thread garment that day in Wanhua Tower.

Father, I heard from Yan Bin that she got her men to steal the gold thread.

That is what caused the incident. Please investigate carefully, Father!

Xian'er, I regard Li Qingliu as my godson.

He is also a big figure in Yincheng.

Of course I won't blame him!

But Concubine De was startled that Prince Zhao is injured.

Li Qingliu certainly can't avoid imprisonment this time.

Father!

Alright then.

I will do my best to intercede to Concubine De on his behalf.

- Lord. - But--

Lord, you are wanted by His Imperial Highness Prince Zhao.

I'll go over there right now.

Yes.

Xian'er, seeing as the things have developed these days, promise me

to accompany His Imperial Highness Prince Zhao well. Assume my official position

to apologize for the crime of neglecting our duties!

Then what about the gold thread...

Your Highness, are you still worried about Miss Long?

Kidnapper!

You there... help me!

Cute.

Your Highness.

Your Highness.

Lord Du, you came just in time!

I'm fine. Why are you not allowing me to go out?

I also heard that you have imprisoned two citizens because of this issue.

Release them immediately.

Your Highness, forgive me.

This matter was not this subject's doing.

It was done per Imperial Concubine De's instructions.

Before confirming that Your Highness' health is fine,

the principal offender who offended the royal family must be put in prison and wait until he is dealt with.

Mother?

It was this subject who sent the government post horse at urgent speed

and spread the news of your getting injured.

You're a kinsmen of the Imperial lineage.

Once Imperial Consort De received the news, she has sent an Imperial physician over.

Let's wait for the Imperial physician to carefully examine you

before making any final decision!

[ Prison ]

Chief Long, you have truly taken care of Yincheng's weavers' anger this time!

That's right.

You don't know this, but my second uncle, second aunt and elder brother

almost all jumped into the well!

It was because the Snake Gang slashed the prices of the silkworm eggs to less than seventy percent of what they were worth!

Tell me, how can natural silk be sold at the price of shredded green onions?

That's right.

It's the same.

It's fine now. The prices have returned back to normal now.

The second day of the second month (of the lunar calendar) truly is the day the dragon raised its head!

I should be doing this. Issues that relate to the folks in town are my business as well.

Thank you, Chief.

But why did you come in here this time, Chief Long?

Who's that person? Why did you come in with someone like him?

Someone like me?

Everyone, this is Li Qingliu, the owner of the

New Silk Road Silk Store,

the most profitable clothing line in Yincheng.

Half of the silk in all of Yincheng

goes through this Master Li's door in the end.

It's a pity that even if he has the money, it is not a place where he can spend it.

Was he born with a silver spoon in his mouth,

and does he also like to blow his own trumpet? Brothers, we must all take a good look at him.

I don't know if he was,

but I have to advise you fellows.

No matter how hard a tooth is, one only needs to hit it in the right place.

Based on a rotten piece of linen, Master Li insisted that my Dragon Bamboo Gang stole his gold thread.

It's ridiculous.

What's more ridiculous is that this lad has been chasing me for days,

sticking to me like a dogskin plaster.

Now, he caused me to be imprisoned.

If it wasn't because you felt guilty for being a thief

and ran for your life, I wouldn't have been chasing you.

Forget it. Within half an hour, someone will rescue and take me out.

As for you,

whether you stole it or not, there will be a result soon.

Chief Long, don't worry. We're here to support you.

That's right. We'll support you!

I'm not worried.

I can sit and walk with my head up. (T/N unbent, meaning "upright" and honest)

Once the truth is out, I will find the person who accused me

and make you apologize to me!

What are you doing? Men and women should not be close!

Really.

What are you doing?

We'll use this straw as a boundary.

We'll split it in half. Neither of us will pass the line.

What?

Nothing.

I just don't want to be with robbers and thieves.

What are you saying?

- - Are you tired of living? - What are you saying?

What are you saying?

Okay then. If the other party finds out that they went over by one cun (T/N approx. 1 inch/2.5 cm)

then their territory will be reduced by two cun!

That's what I meant!

You all are useless!

Big Brother, calm down. We have good news to report.

Hurry and tell me!

Li Qingliu and Long Aoyi were imprisoned!

Li Qingliu made a public announcement in the black market that he's catching the thieves. We took this opportunity to speak up for you.

It's spreading throughout Yincheng now.

Long Aoyi,

I said you won't be able to sit in the position as chief for long.

Your good days have ended.

Master Qi, don't worry. That clothing pattern is incomplete.

But if Long Aoyi finds out that we were the ones who framed her

and if she's released in the next few days, then it'll be bad for us!

Shut your stinking mouth!

All the good things have been ruined by you!

Don't ever let them know that we were the ones who did this!

Master Qi, don't worry.

Before their person in charge arrived, I took action first.

Our Master came to confirm something with you.

Take a look at this cloth carefully.

You two did a good job with this.

You men don't have to keep selling pepper at the black market anymore. Come back to my side.

Master Shi, make the arrangements.

Yes.

Long Aoyi.

Lord, can we go in?

Who's letting you in?

Our Chief is inside. I'm going in to visit her!

Your Chief is inside?

- Steward Yan, I want to go to the bathroom. - Hurry and go then.

- Hurry and go in. - But our Chief is inside. I'll just take a glance.

Isn't this Chief Long's personal maid?

What? You can't go in? Beg me, and I'll bring you in.

Minister Zhu, I know you've been angry about this issue

but do you know that you shouldn't blame our Master for this?

I'm in a hard position then.

In the future, you have to help us, right?

[ Prison ]

Let's go.

Remember to thank me.

Steamed bun!

Give me the steamed bun.

What are you doing?

Stop! What's the meaning of this?

This is the government's prison. Be respectful!

What are you doing?

What's the meaning of this? Didn't you split it in half just then?

That's right! What are you doing? What's the meaning of this?

Who just said that if they take one step forward then they have to take two steps back?

I'm already being generous. If it wasn't because we're restrained in this cell

you would already not have any space.

- Chief! - Master!

Li Qingliu, Minister Zhu asks for you.

Master, are you fine?

Wait for me here.

Chief, you've suffered.

Let me take a look. Are you fine?

What good food did you bring me?

Lord Zhu has honored me with a personal visit to the prison.

Master Li, you're too courteous.

Have a seat. Quickly take a seat.

All of Yincheng focuses its attention on your conduct.

How dare I neglect it since I am proud to be Lord Du's supporter.

There are many things that the younger generation handled badly this time. (T/N self-address vs. the elder before him)

I hope that Lord Zhu will still be magnanimous enough to forgive it.

If you need anything done before I go out, then I'll make arrangements for my people to do it.

There's no need.

This time His Highness Prince Zhao got injured.

Yincheng's reputation was damaged a little,

but it's a big issue that the Imperial court was alarmed.

Minister Du has been running around these past few days

hoping that the turmoil will be calmed down soon.

The black market incidentally injured His Royal Highness Prince Zhao and should be punished.

But I won't hide it from you...

Master Li, calm down.

His Royal Highness came to Yincheng this time

to take over an important post as salt and iron envoy

and you happened to hurt him.

Minister Zhu, just be frank.

What I mean is

why don't you use this opportunity

to hand over the goods and materials cleared by the customs

to the government?

- Did you manage to find Dachun? - There were too many people surrounding him, so he got away.

But Second Master has already confirmed that the fabric belongs to Dachun.

I've already questioned our brothers. They said...

The timeframe when the New Silk Road lost the gold thread

is a perfect match with the time of Dachun's disappearance.

So it's true. It looks like this Li fellow wasn't fooling around.

Moreover, two people in the Grand Bazaar's black market knew that Dachun was going to ship goods that day.

- What about the goods? - No one knows.

But Dachun told the two men it was a rare object.

As far as you are concerned, this case has become too hot to handle.

In order to prove your innocence to the government,

one should broaden the channels of mutual trading.

Lord Zhu is right. All right then.

But the date for trading my clothes made with gold thread with Persian merchants is coming.

When the time comes, I need to personally send them out.

If this rule is broken, the weaving house may blame us.

Lord Zhu, you and I will not be able to escape bearing the blame.

But I heard that the gold thread of New Silk Road was stolen.

I am afraid it will be hard to dispel the clouds and see the sun. (T/N reveal the truth)

The gold thread is on its way.

Gold thread clothes will resume production soon.

Lord Zhu does not need to worry about this.

What matters now is that the head of the Li Family is still in prison.

If this delays the progress of producing the gold-thread clothes,

I am afraid it will affect the friendship between Great Tang and Persia.

I am afraid not only the weaving house

but even the Imperial court will be condemned.

Miss, if Dachun really did this,

what shall we do?

Do not jump to conclusions yet.

But they all say outside...

What are they saying?

They say that you, as the new chief, manage the gang in a bad way,

repeatedly cheating and stealing.

Master.

Truly, a piece of mouse dung ruined the pot of porridge. (T/N situation is a complete mess)

Master, when did you ever bear such blame before?

When can we go out?

Let's eat.

Let's eat something. Let's eat something.

Let's eat something.

Master, these are your favorite foods.

Porcini mushrooms in vinegar with seafood soup.

Yak meat roasted on "red basket" coal.

Hot and sour crab cakes.

Quail eggs with bamboo in apple jam.

Take excellent yak meat from Tubo. (T/N one ancient name for Tibet)

Sprinkle it with the juice of Shandong's apples.

Roast it on a small fire for as long as it takes one incense stick to burn...

and it will be soft and not raw, tender but springy, and really fragrant!

Get lost! Is our Master's food something you can covet?

Master, there is also your most favorite dish,

Liaoning ginseng with black truffle sauce!

Liaoning ginseng with black truffle sauce.

Eat some more.

Ugly woman! I was kind enough to bring you here, and you dare to steal my food?

"Ugly"? Ugly, yet you keep staring at me?

I am not!

A nest of thieves.

What's with the noise? Get out if you are done!

I heard that Dachun has always been very filial. It won't be long before he goes back to visit his mother.

Have someone guard his house. Once Dachun appears, everything will come to light.

All right.

Is there any news of Persian merchants from Xian'er?

Please rest assured, Master. Miss Du is already looking for help from other silk merchants.

- By the way, customs clearance must be completed in time. - Yes.

Brothers will find a way to get you out of here.

Hurry up and go!

Eat up everything. Remember to rest well!

Whose stir-fried sea cucumber is it? It is so savory and delicious!

I want to buy some gold thread from Boss Dong.

I knew you would not invite me to dinner and drinks for no reason, Miss Du.

But Miss Du, the temper of your master is truly something.

Last month, I just wanted to propose a toast to him at Fengman Pavilion.

He embarrassed me in front of everyone!

I heard that Boss Dong wants to

buy a mansion in Xinghua Lane where the western city officials are living.

Xian'er has a few acres of land in her hands.

I want to sell it at a discount.

Miss, you should think thrice.

Does Miss Du really want to sell this land?

The gold thread is related to the reputation of my silk store.

Even if I don't want to, I can only part reluctantly with my treasure.

Here.

I shall propose a toast to Boss Dong to show my sincerity.

Miss Du is straight-forward.

Let's celebrate our cordial working relationship with this cup of wine.

Miss...

Toasting Boss Dong.

This aged wine must be tasted more in order to understand its true flavor.

Miss Du, please have another cup.

You must come here more often from now on.

This way, we can look after each other, am I right?

Boss Dong, my tolerance for wine is weak, so I'll be taking my leave now.

This old lecher has consumed both a boar's heart and a leopard's gall! (T/N has a lot of nerve)

How dare he take liberties with you. We must let him have it from now on!

Father is unwilling to assist us in tracking down the golden thread.

If we are able to get our hands on Boss Dong's golden thread, this slight hardship will count as nothing.

But Miss, we can't let that sort of person...

Qingliu and I spent so many years and poured in our blood and sweat

to establish New Silk Road as Yincheng's number one brand.

It musn't be destroyed as easily as that.

At present, only more golden thread will ensure its absolute safety.

Lord Du has commanded that all merchants are not to get involved with the situation regarding the golden thread.

Old Madam.

It's all right, Old Madam. We'll just wait by the door. You don't have to trouble yourself.

- W-Who are you? - What's the meaning of this, Dachun?

Oh, it's you.

Now the entire city is aware that New Silk Road has lost the golden thread.

Both the corrupt and the honorable are looking for it. No one wants to touch it now!

I'm returning it to you.

Didn't we already agree on it?

All I'd have to do is help you sell the golden thread on the black market. But, this...

We Dragon Bamboo Gang members have suddenly become thieves? How did it become this way?

We don't have to talk about how I did not pull off the sale. I actually implicated the Chief and my brothers.

This won't do! I have to go back and explain myself to the Chief.

I don't want the money anymore. My mother has not seen me for many days. I have to return home.

Deng Dachun! You're coming with me.

If Dachun was truly the one who stole the golden thread,

he would've tried to find a buyer for it on the black market.

He saw me approaching, then pulled back at the last moment.

But why hasn't he gone home yet?

Could it be possible that he's hiding from someone?

I did not expect Lord Zhu to watch the goods at the customs office so attentively.

I must find the golden thread as soon as possible.

After observing her, I don't believe she instructed her underling to steal the golden thread.

Could it be that that member from the Dragon Bamboo Gang himself was seduced by the golden thread?

[ North Gate ]

Next one.

Next one.

Check it carefully.

Next one.

Give way. Give way!

[ Portraits ]

Naxt one.

Miss Du.

These days, Squad Leader, you and all the other soldiers must feel cold at nights.

Please give this money to everyone to buy some wine to warm up.

Miss Du is exaggerating.

A valuable item was stolen. This is their duty.

Yes.

However, my father is busy with government affairs today. He has no time to attend to this matter.

That is why Xiao Xian came here to ask for your help in private.

After the gold thread is found, our silk store will definitely thank you with a lot of money.

And I will put in a good word for you with my father.

Thank you, Miss Du.

Next one.

How can we trouble Lord Du with such a trifling matter?

Listen well. Give them a thorough search!

You cannot let anyone slip by!

- Yes! - Yes!

It's so cold.

Did you hear the story of the dried wing of the celestial phoenix?

I don't know it. Is it the name of a foreign dish?

Chief Long, let's hear about it. Let it enrich our experience.

This phoenix's dried wing

is especially good for the physiological straightening of bones that have been curled up for a long time.

You take a huge cross-section of a log,

then lock people's hands and feet on a wooden frame

and hang them in the air.

Finally, you twist the wooden frame.

I heard that this torture is very painful for the victim.

It can dislocate and fracture the bones.

This torture has been used in prisons for ages, right?

- That's really tough. - Of course.

Whatever!

So comfortable...

- Don't look. Don't look. Go, go, go. - I am not giving it back!

It's so comfortable.

The first one is accidental. The second one is a straw of luck.

The third time is a predestined meeting of people bound to meet.

I hope Dachun is all right. I hope Dragon Bamboo Gang will help all their brothers.

So many... That's a sign of true disaster!

It is settled then.

Chief Qi,

aren't those the witch doctors under the Dragon Bamboo Gang just now? Why did they come?

Why else would they come?

Since the monkeys from the Dragon Bamboo Gang scatter when the tree falls now, (T/N every man for himself)

how can these bastards not come over to hold onto me, such a big tree?

Congratulations, Chief Qi.

The fighting between the members of the Dragon Bamboo Gang is spreading every day.

Presumably, their reputation will most likely be lost.

I also heard that many people from the Dragon Bamboo Gang are leaving.

Many people have left in twos and threes these days.

Chief Qi, you have planted the stolen goods this time

to frame and discredit people from the Dragon Bamboo Gang.

Not only did Chief Long go to prison,

but the silkworm egg business was also brought back to us and we snatched many of their people!

It is truly like killing three birds with one stone!

- Shut that broken mouth of yours! - Yes.

Are you not afraid that those people will hear you?

This is what they call "training an army for a thousand days to use it for an hour". (T/N preparation pays off)

The one who comes every other day to our opium den to smoke opium is a jailer in the prison.

I remember he has a mole on his chin. What is he called again?

Zhang Liulang?

Yes, it's him.

Long Aoyi, it is time for us to settle the old accounts.

Let's sum them up all together.
