She's gone. Shall we check the dorm, common room and library?
June won't be in the library.
I bet she's gone down to the beach, treasure hunting.
To the cave? Would she dare? Maybe.
She doesn't know that her name was cleared.
She...she thinks she has nothing to lose.
Right. I'll go to the beach. You go over the school.
She has to be back before Miss Grayling gets back from the wedding,
otherwise, she'll be in terrible trouble all over again.
Pas beaucoup d'espace ici, hein? Here's your shoes.
Thank you. Ladies, are you ready?
Nearly! Agh, my toe.
Come along, ladies. We haven't all day.
Oh. Oh!
Oh. Give us a twirl.
I must say, a Malory Towers girl scrubs up well.
Wait till you see Mam'zelle!
Well, we're waiting.
Un instant! Not quite ready.
Such a shame the rest of the girls can't be with us for the ceremony.
Now, the registry office is just for the piece of paper.
Mam'zelle and Mr Edwards will do the real celebrating afterwards
with you all, back here.
Papa's going to be so nervous.
SHE GASPS
Give me strength! Mam'zelle, stay behind the screen.
Mr Edwards, have you never heard it is bad luck to see the bride
in her dress before the wedding?
Don't mind Matron, Papa. You didn't see anything anyway.
Would you mind taking care of the ring for me?
Can I go out? No. Meine kleine Viola.
I shall give it to ma cherie at the party in the garden this afternoon
after the registry office.
But look after it until then.
Oh, heavens. Of course I will, Papa.
Il est parti maintenant?
I don't understand what you're saying.
June!
June!
June.
June!
Oh, June!
June!
June, I know you're in there.
June!
June, you need to come back to school with me right now.
I don't have to do anything.
What are they going to do - expel me twice?
They're not even expelling you once. You don't understand.
You're not nearly in all the trouble that you think you are.
I'm so sorry. I got it all wrong.
Got what wrong?
Ruth confessed. She was the one playing the nasty tricks on Connie.
Everyone knows you're innocent.
Ruth?
And I know it was Felicity who suggested taking out the boats,
and so does Miss Grayling.
So Miss Grayling doesn't want me to leave? No.
She's asking for you so she can sort everything out.
Please, you have to come with me before she realises you're missing.
I can't go back. Not yet.
June... No, listen! For once.
I found something inside the cave, let me show you.
Please.
Fine.
But we can't be too long.
Felicity and I were right about the map and the treasure.
There's something in here, right at the back.
Look here - in the sand!
What's that - wood? Yes.
Well, it could just be driftwood or wreckage...
Or a treasure chest.
But with your help, we'll be able to find out.
All right, but we have to be quick. Yes?
All right.
You're right! It is a chest.
Urgh! It's rusted shut.
We need something to lever it open.
Look around.
Alicia, have you seen June?
Not since yesterday. Look at this. Right across the tear.
Matthew 6.19.
Matthew...
It could be the Book of Matthew, like in the Bible.
Which would make those the verse numbers.
Chapter 6, verse 19.
Exactly. But what is that verse and what does it mean?
If you help me look for June, then I'll help you work it out.
Deal. But... Where's Darrell?
Let's get her searching too.
She is, already. Darrell and I thought June might have gone
down to the cave, so she went to check,
but she should have been back by now.
Right. Here it goes.
It's...empty.
It can't be.
Look, if the treasure was ever there, it's long gone now.
All right, let's go. Wait.
Look!
There's something in the lid.
"Dear future fortune hunters,
"no gold rewards your pains.
"I live to tell another tale.
"Spent my ill-gotten gains."
He's laughing at us.
How can that be? Sir Charles said he drowned.
Wait. There's one more couplet.
"They call me the cruel captain
"but Sir Charles is my true name."
I don't understand. I do.
Sir Charles didn't go out to fight the cruel captain,
he WAS the cruel captain.
Come on. This is better than treasure.
I can't wait to tell Miss Grayling what we found out. All right.
Oh, cripes. We're cut off.
I can't believe I was so stupid. We can swim back.
We're both decent swimmers. No, the riptide is too strong.
If we go in the water now, we'll be dragged out to sea.
And if we don't, the water's coming in to get us anyway.
That's it. There. Thank you.
Hello. Can I offer you a button...?
Ron!
I...didn't know you owned a suit.
My father's.
Feels like I'm in costume.
You need a buttonhole.
Thanks.
Um...
I...
Gwen? No dawdling.
Everyone. Everyone.
Mr Edwards will be here any moment.
What about Mam'zelle? She's just powdering her nose.
Irene, Jean.
How was the registry office?
Tell me everything before they arrive.
Come on.
Irene, how was the ceremony?
Was it wonderful?
Just so perfect.
Probably because I didn't have to do anything,
so now I just have to get through the party without messing it up.
You've had everyone practising the song
till they're blue in the face.
Irene, nothing is going to go wrong.
Thank you. Just...
Where did I put the ring?
I thought I had it in my hankie, in my pocket.
I was so certain.
This is absolutely typical, Irene.
Got you.
It's fine, it's right here.
Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no.
Irene!
Oh, it's gone straight through.
Come on, Alicia. The cave is down here.
Oh, no. If they're inside,
they'll never get out now.
Oh, they're inside all right.
How high do you think the water comes?
I don't know.
You might be able to swim.
You're stronger than me.
You don't have to stay.
I wouldn't leave you.
Any luck? The more I try and get it out, the deeper in it goes.
It's like it's hollow.
What is going on here, then?
Oh, Papa, I'm so, so sorry.
I dropped the ring and it went through the grate
and everything's ruined now, isn't it?
The ring!
Is everything all right, Mr Edwards?
Ze ring has gone through the grate.
The ring...through the grate?
May I? By all means.
Pass me the pole.
I'm sure Mr Parker would be happy to assist.
Let me get him.
Oh, Ron, Fred, could you lend a hand?
What's going on?
I dropped the ring and it went through the grate.
The ring, in the grate?
It's in the grate.
The ring's in the grate?
Yes.
How are we going to get it out of there?
Matron, Miss Grayling.
Help me.
Felicity, what's wrong?
It's Darrell and June. They're in terrible danger.
What? Darrell and June walked down to the cave
but the tide came in.
They must be trapped and the water's getting higher.
Is this the same cave that June tried to reach yesterday?
The one round the headland to the north?
Alicia's calling the coastguard.
Miss Grayling, please help them, please.
The coastguard is miles away.
But they will make it in time, won't they?
I'll make sure they know it's urgent.
Matron, stay with the girls.
I don't want anyone else going down to the sea
and putting themselves in danger.
They'll get there, don't worry.
They will save Darrell and June.
They will.
Um...did you know I was expelled from my last school?
The great Darrell Rivers, head of Lower School.
Head is what I am now but at the end of my first year,
I felt the exact same way that you do.
Truly? Truly. I was accused of something terrible,
and all my friends thought I'd done it.
What happened?
Well, one friend alone believed in me and stood up for me,
just like Felicity's fighting for you.
I don't deserve it. It's not true.
And you don't have to be the person your parents say you are.
You can change how people see you.
If... When?
When we get out of here, that is what you have to do.
Listen, I'll be there to help you through it.
That's better.
We need something to keep our spirits up.
How about a song?
# Sir Charles' heart Was brave and true
# Captain's cruel, nobody's fool
# Tumbling, tumbling, tumbling down
# The cruel captain fell My treasure was found
# The shore reached out And pulled him down
# Tumbling, tumbling
# The treasure was found
# Tumbling, tumbling, tumbling down
# The cruel captain fell My treasure was found
# The shore reached out And pulled him down
# Tumbling, tumbling My treasure was found. #
June and I thought this was the clue to the treasure.
"Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth."
But what does it mean?
Well, it's from the Bible.
Matthew, Chapter 6, verse 19?
How ever did you know that, child?
I think...I think it's a message.
The verse number for this quote was on Sir Charles' treasure map.
Look! Down there.
There's a hole. Felicity, I don't think...
Everybody, quiet, please.
What in heaven? Listen!
Wait.
The sea!
It's a tunnel. It must be to the cave.
That's why it's on the map.
We need to move this.
Ready?
Agh! It's solid.
That's it. Pull it!
Pull!
# Tumbling, tumbling, tumbling down
# The captain fell My treasure was found
# The shore reached out And pulled him down
# Tumbling, tumbling
# The treasure was found. #
Darrell, June, can you hear me?
Darrell! Darrell!
# Tumbling, tumbling, tumbling down
# The captain fell And the treasure was found
# The shore reached out And pulled him down
# Tumbling, tumbling The treasure was found. #
One more time!
Wait.
Did you hear that?
Sounds like a voice.
But very far away.
Can you hear me?
Darrell, June!
It sounds like Felicity.
Look!
There's a hole.
It's small
but it keeps going.
All right, come on.
Keep pushing. Hurry, hurry.
Harder. Harder.
Quick! The water's getting deeper.
I've got to be there.
Please, Darrell.
Darrell!
We're here. Don't leave.
We're coming. Felicity!
We can hear you. Sally!
Darrell! Darrell! Darrell.
Darrell, June. Darrell!
Don't go, Felicity.
Felicity!
Follow our voices.
June!
Felicity! The coastguard is on their way.
I don't think we need them.
Darrell! Felicity, we're coming. Good grief!
Hello? Hello.
Take my hand. Mr Ed...wards.
Oh! Oh. Thank heavens.
Ah, June.
June!
Felicity.
Oh, Matron.
Darrell!
Girls, you're filthy!
But at least you're safe.
How did you know about the tunnel?
How is there a tunnel here at all?
We can tell you that - it must have been Sir Charles's tunnel.
He used it secretly to get to his cave and to a ship
and bring the treasure back home.
Sir Charles' treasure.
We found a chest inside the cave with a verse inscribed on it.
Some sort of confession,
admitting that Sir Charles and the cruel captain
were one and the same.
What?
Sir Charles was the pirate.
He faked his own death.
That's why he had the captain's mask and signet ring!
They were never lost at sea because he didn't drown.
And that is why the cruel captain's ghost is seen walking in the garden.
He wasn't haunting Sir Charles.
It was Sir Charles coming out of this very tunnel
with his stolen treasure.
Miss Grayling, we did find out
something terribly important after all.
Well, it appears as if my ancestor may not have been the man
we believed him to be.
You're not cross, are you, Miss Grayling,
that he might have not been a hero?
Well, I don't know if we can conclude that just yet.
Let's see.
But we certainly shouldn't celebrate
people who've done terrible things.
And, if this is true, well, that goes for Sir Charles as well.
Now, come along. Let's get you warm and dry.
I'll call off the coastguard.
We're so sorry we interrupted the wedding party.
We did find treasure, though.
Look what we found in the tunnel!
Papa's ring! Ring, the ring.
What...happened with the ring?
Don't ask.
Oh, it's beautiful.
HE CLEARS HIS THROAT
Will you please welcome the bride?
Five, six, seven...
# Hevenu shalom aleichem
# Hevenu shalom aleichem
# Hevenu shalom aleichem
# Hevenu shalom, shalom
# Shalom aleichem. #
Mon amour!
Tu est si belle.
Everyone, may I present
my wife?
Was this when you wanted to give me my ring?
Yeah.
The ring. The ring!
Oh! The ring.
Um... Oh.
Merci beaucoup.
I'm so sorry we ruined your wedding day.
Ruined? No, no, not at all.
By dropping the ring, you saved the girls' lives.
I shall cherish my ring all the more for it.
I suppose at least you did manage to get married.
Beaucoup mieux -
we became a family.
Thank goodness for you, Felicity Rivers. Hear, hear.
We thought we were goners. We thought you were, too.
Can't believe we're all together again.
And I'm staying at Malory Towers.
Les filles, attention, je vais lancer le bouquet!
Ooh!
'Ey up!
Three cheers for Papa and Mam'zelle.
Hip, hip... Hooray!
Hip, hip... Hooray!
Hip, Hip... Hooray!
# Hevenu shalom aleichem
# Hevenu shalom aleichem
# Hevenu shalom aleichem
# Hevenu shalom, shalom, shalom aleichem. #
