to the changes that we make.

The bar ended my last relationship,

and I'm definitely looking forward
to a new one.

I think Simon's looking

As head bouncer,
part of my job is to make sure...

...that everything's going real smoothly,
make sure everybody's having a good time.

I'm just starting to wonder if maybe
I took on more than I can handle.

What's the secret
to a successful nightclub?

Reliable staff that make your customers
feel at home and at ease, and music.

You know, music really drives the room
and drives the environment,

so we gotta be playing
the right type of music...

...to attract the kinda crowd
you're looking for.

It's time the DJs start
to listen and play...

...what the customers know
and what they wanna hear.

We've always trusted the
DJs with the music,

and we've never told them what to play.

And they'll freak if we start now.

There's not enought people here tonight.

This is the problem.

Big room, no bodies,
and nobody's drinking.

If things don't change soon,
we may be forced to close our doors.

Well we're all here
to meet our new boss man,

so I want to introduce Blair.

At the moment, there's no one in charge
of dealing with the staff.

Simon and I are way too busy.

That's one reason to bring in Blair.

I just see so much potential.

The goal's to get to be
the number one club in the province.

I don't wanna settle for anything less
and anybody here...

...I think would agree
that they'd like to be there too.

At the end of the day,
everybody wants to make some money.

If the club's busy,
you guys are making money.

So I'm hoping everybody
will buy into the changes that we make.

You know, there is a group of people
that like house music...

...and techno and electro,

but in my point of view,
this room is far too large...

...to appeal to that crowd on
a nightly basis and have this room full.

Now we're gonna take that music format
and we're gonna appeal to a broader crowd.

We have a new boss that wants to change
the music and change the format.

His goals are a little bit ambitious.

Matt's been a big part of our stage
production and our lighting production,

and I don't think we could
do a big show without him.

I put in a lot of time into programming
the lights and making it my baby.

I don't know how to explain it.

When you're partying
and the night's good,

you get that little extra energy.

The lights is just the extra little bit.

We still could use one extra waitress
as far as just a spare...

...because we're just full right now.

We just got enough to do our shifts,
but that's not giving everyone a day off.

I'm looking for an individual
that can be there Fridays, Saturdays,

and build up a loyal client base.

They get to know who it is.
Every week, it's the same person.

I'm like a workaholic.

She's cute, she seems dependable,

she's the type of employee
I really wanna have here.

I think she'll connect
with the customers.

See if the DJ's coming in. No?

When I got here, we had like nine DJs...

...that all played kinda whatever
they wanted to play...

...and it was house or electro
or techno or...

Like I don't recognize the music at all.

So I've changed the music format
completely to be top 40,

dance, rock and roll.

We will play the odd country song.

The old country music in our electro bar.

You don't play all the requests.

Blair is coming from a country rock bar,
a very busy country rock bar,

and his ideas of country rock
worked down there.

I just think they may not work,
the country angle especially,

may not work here.

The DJs are getting booed.

Our head doorman Mitch
is a personal trainer by day.

He has his own gym.

Chunk and I work out with him
and he's brutally rough on us.

This is ridiculous.

When we're working out together,
Simon always seems to be whining.

Chunk comes in there,
he doesn't screw around.

Back to the triceps.

Training with Mitch gives us a chance
to vent about the club.

What do you think of Blair

It's gonna be a bit more
of a dramatic change than I expected.

Our whole purpose
when we built the place...

...and our whole vision
and soul of the place...

...was... we wanted that energy,
we wanted that really different music.

We wanted that stuff.

It seems like it's gonna turn
into the same as every other place.

It's tough for me to swallow.

And it's gonna be a tough thing,
I think, for all of us.

Chunk and Simon have been running it
for the last three years, I guess now.

My big concern is Chunk
is kind of short-sighted at times,

bit of a control guy.

He tends to not wanna give things
time to work.

We were the place that people went
that hated country.

When I say country rock around here,

I think everybody gets their hair
in a knot.

I don't want to even attempt
to be a country bar.

What I want is if f we got 40 girls
in here on a stagette...

...and they wanna hear a country song,
play it for 'em.

If Simon and Chunk don't step back
and let me do my thing,

there's gonna be a lot of head butting
and there's gonna be some problems.

I met Simon at Tequila.

We are mutual friends with one
of my really good girlfriends.

I thought he was a very nice guy.

He really impressed me.

The first time I met Jessica,
I was totally intrigued,

and that's not like me.

I even showed pictures of her
to my buddy, Niko.

Just 'cause, I don't know,
seemed pretty cool, down to earth.

She wasn't the type of person
I thought she was.

I rarely, rarely meet genuine people,
being in the club and whatnot.

She's pretty sweet, kind of,
you know, intrigued me a little bit.

I still have that bottle of wine
that we stole...

It's nice to see you. I miss you.

I really like how classy
and beautiful she is.

And I think she's very down to earth
and genuine.

But as usual,
the demands of the club pull me away...

from getting to know someone I'm into.

He's always very busy at the club, so...

He asked me to see him again,

and so I... I said yes.

That would be okay with me.

A few of our resident DJs
are opening for... tonight.

The DJs here seem to think
they run the show.

Nobody seems to want to manage them...

...and this needs to change,
and change quickly.

We have good DJs here.
They know how to mix.

Myron's one of our house DJs
and he's a really good guy.

But I'm afraid that he's probably
not gonna buy into the program.

It's gonna get interesting,
that's for sure.

Michael Wyatt, he's a great little DJ.
He loves to party.

I'm gonna jump and down on the decks.

And I'm gonna play some heavy,
heavy techno.

I don't give a shit
what any of these guys tell me.

And anybody in this club knows...

...if I start playing something else,

He's into techno and electro,
and that's not what we wanted.

That's the problem
with those types of DJs,

is that they just... they get
into their own little world...

...and they play for themselves.

They don't care that nobody's drinking.
They don't care about any of this.

They just care about their beats.

So I finished my first set
and I come down from the DJ booth,

and I see Blair at the bar.

I can't play AC/DC, I promise.
I really don't even know how to.

I mean, I could... scratch it in,
but I like techno.

There's too many people out,
and we're missing a lot of that crowd.

You have a manager come in
and tell you to play...

...some classic rock
mixed in with your electro.

Like, I don't have headphones
that fit over my cowboy hat, dude.

Like it doesn't work.

You just tell me where you want me to be,
but don't tell my to play country...

And he basically told me that
that was the new format of the club,

and if I can't play that kind of music,

I'm not gonna play here anymore.

That was the end of my career at Tequila.

The crowd went nuts.

There's a lot of people here
for...tonight.

I gotta hope we're making money.

The problem is nobody's drinking,

and to make money,
we need the crowd to drink.

Part of my job is to make sure
that everything's going real smoothly.

That's quite a challenge in a place where
they serve copious amounts of alcohol.

A guy came up to me at the club
and he was being belligerent.

If he's treating me like this,

he's probably gonna treat
my customers like this.

When something bad happens,
you wanna contain it...

...as soon as possible
and move it outside...

...as it will affect the emotional state
of everybody else...

After he resisted quite a bit,
I take him outside.

As soon as I let him go,
he turned around and faced me.

So I grabbed him by the neck.
I didn't wanna get hit in the face.

I did rip the brand new shirt
that I bought today,

so I guess, I guess he won.

So... got everybody on the dance floor,
but there's nobody lined up at the bars.

We wanna get him off
an hour before last call...

and get the house DJ on
and get everybody drinking tonight.

I check the time and Matt
was supposed to get our resident DJ...

...on stage a half hour ago.

Why is the bar closing down?

Because there's no people dancing
when you wanted to play.

Who makes that choice?

I decided that!

We wanted our house DJ
to finish the night off.

The lighting guy decided that...

...close the night off...

...and when asked why he did that,
he said, "Simon, go... yourself."

As the lighting guy
or a person that works for me,

these guys don't seem
to be dedicated to my decision ever,

and I don't appreciate that.

So finally get Myron to the stage,
but we missed last call...

and now we've just lost a ton
of revenue tonight in booze sales.

the bar's usually lined up for last call.

Instead of that, we had
a bunch of people on the dance floor...

where our resident DJ
would've lined up the bars.

Every night is... dead.

When we bring in a show,
these people come here...

...to see someone, and then
we're gonna... cut them off early?

I made the right decision
letting him play longer,

and you guys shit on me.

I've never had him talk to me like that

I knew Matt and the DJs would be pissed
about the music changes,

Obviously, some of our staff
aren't dealing well with Blair.

After a super stressful night,
I just wanna blow off some stream.

So I get the girls together
and we go to the gym for an afterparty.

When there's an after party

...with seven girls plus me,

maximizing the odds.

that there's a little attraction building.

I try to remain professional.

He's fun to be around. I like Mitch.
