it feeds this massive lake.

Tonle Sap in Cambodia is
the largest freshwater lake

in the whole of South-East Asia,

and for a million people,
it's their home.

In fact, many have never set foot
on dry land.

Welcome to the eighth leg
of The Amazing Race Australia.

And how good's family?

Teams have made their way overnight
from the kingdom of Angkor Wat

to the edge of this giant lake,

and will be departing in the order
they arrived

at the last pit stop.

It's tough for people living
in a floating village

to access resources.

So, for this challenge, teams must
visit a land-based bookshop

to purchase school supplies,

then travel by boat to
the Chong Kneas Floating School

and hand over the supplies to receive
their next clue.

each with its own pros and cons.

In this Detour, teams must choose
between Fish or Farm.

On the lake,
you need to be self sufficient.

Shrimp is a big part of
the daily diet,

and here the villagers have
an ingenious way of catching them.

First, they get a tree root and
put some shrimp bait underneath it.

That way the shrimp have got
somewhere to hide from people and
predators.

They've also got something to eat
as well.

Then they lift the tree root out...

Pull it out.

..and gently slide the net
underneath,

catching as many as they can.

Teams must take the net
and row the boat along the traps.

Fishing like this is a lot of effort
for not much return.

They need to collect
an entire cup of shrimp

to receive their next clue.

You can't make a complete meal
without greens.

These floating garden beds are
a one-stop fruit and veg shop

for the entire village,
but our teams must plant them

just right to ensure that they get
a bumper crop for the entire year.

Once the crop is planted, they must
correctly identify and label

each plant to receive
their next clue.

I think the shrimp could be easier.

There's only five teams left.

You have no time to make errors
now,

so you need to choose
the right Detour.

Choose your instinct.
