Oh my God.

You can't hold liquor.

You shouldn't have drunk with them.

I had to carry you back.

All right. All right.

What?

You have a secret.

[Chasing the Undercurrent]

[Punish those who commit crimes and make mistakes so as to discipline them, and execute those who violate the prohibitions so as to terrify would-be violators. -Guanzi, Ban Fa]

[Episode 38]

Dad,

did Chang Fei really kill himself?

No, of course.

Then why did Zhang Qiufeng give perjury?

He didn't.

Chang Fei indeed had depression.

Dr. Huang told me about it.

[Medical record of Changwu People's Hospital]

Chang Fei

has discovered

those mine survivors.

Soon, he'll track us down.

It's a chance.

He's your subordinate.

Make him retire

because of his disease.

When he's no longer a policeman,

I'll see how he can continue.

I don't think

I should propose that.

I'm a mere chief.

Shouldn't you have

Deputy Director Xiao do it?

Xiao Zhenbang?

Yes, him.

He's Zheng Guangtian's son-in-law.

At first,

Xiao Zhenbang didn't want to help.

But he didn't dare to refuse.

Then he found an excuse

to suspend Chang Fei from his duty

instead of making him retire.

But before the decision was announced,

Chang Fei

tracked down Cao Dalong.

Chang Zheng,

listen.

I just targeted the main suspect.

I'm on my way to arrest him.

I've been on this case for long.

If I manage to arrest this guy,

I will

break my way into truth.

Zheng Guangtian

would not let Chang Fei live.

So,

he talked to Li Bodong

without telling Xiao Zhenbang.

Li Bodong

then had Zhang Qiufeng

call Chang Fei immediately.

Shortly after that,

Chang Fei fell off the cliff.

So, Zhang Qiufeng gave a true confession?

It was true, of course.

However,

he only said

what he was aware of.

Chang Fei,

where are you?

I'm driving.

On the winding road.

What?

Winding road?

Come back quickly.

But he was unaware of something.

He got to know

where Chang Fei was.

Li Bodong

sent me the exact location

without hesitation.

Beside that winding road

was a mine of ours.

I arranged a truck quickly.

That winding road

had no security cameras.

Few vehicles would pass,

not to mention pedestrians.

Think about it.

Within more than a minute,

what exactly happened?

No one is aware.

What about that trucker?

I never ask about that.

I don't know who he is.

So,

do you think Chang Zheng

can easily find the murderer?

In this case, no one is exposed,

but Zhang Qiufeng.

So,

I exposed him to Chang Zheng.

[Deputy Chief Li]

Hello, Deputy Chief Li.

Your job problem...

I've had it arranged.

Are you available tonight?

I'd like to see you.

Yes, yes.

When you want me,

I'm always available.

OK.

I'll send you the location.

See you tonight.

OK.

See you tonight.

I've asked him out.

Do you need some helpers?

I have the gun.

Why do I need helpers?

After I kill him,

I can never be a policeman anymore.

Trust me.

Your brand new life will begin.

I should have known.

Too late.

I guessed that Li Bodong would kill me

because he felt uneasy.

But why you?

Chief Zhang,

my first condition

to return to the Zhaos

is to get the murderer who killed Chang Fei.

What did you do?

You forgot?

If he shoots,

he'll completely return to us.

What if he doesn't shoot?

You arranged another shooter?

Sangniu.

What if Zhang Qiufeng has someone in ambush?

Chang Zheng is the second undercover cop, then.

What if he shoots?

The blood oath is done.

I'll welcome my little brother.

[Changwu Bridge]

[Operation Room]

Dr. Huang,

how's he?

Sorry,

but he died.

Director Wang.

Inform Qiufeng's family

and then issue his obituary.

I saw the body.

It was Zhang Qiufeng.

Is the fingerprint identified?

I had it identified.

It's Chang Zheng's fingerprint.

Zhang Qiufeng, the dead man,

is the chief of Binxi Criminal Investigation.

His murder case is to be further investigated.

Deputy Chief Li confirmed it.

Chang Zheng shot.

Zhang Qiufeng is dead.

[Dr. Huang]

Hello.

It's confirmed.

Were you there?

I gave the operation.

Time to get your brother home.

Get off the car.

Come on.

What do you want?

You asked me to help

and I did that.

What else do you want?

Dr. Huang,

thanks for your cooperation.

However,

over these years,

you've done so many dirty things for the Zhaos

and you're painfully aware.

As for your case,

we'll continue the investigation.

But...

Dr. Huang,

we already gave your application

for annual leave

to your superior on your behalf.

In the following days,

you have to stay with us.

Go.

We're ready.

OK.

I get it.

Mr. Yan,

Zhang Qiufeng survived.

Thank you.

Tell Jin Yan, Song Guangming, and Ning Yu

to come to me.

Mr. Yan.

Mr. Yan.

Mr. Yan.

Chief Zhang died.

Mr. Yan,

someone rumored

that Chang Zheng killed Chief Zhang.

-Impossible! -Impossible! It's...

I don't believe that, either.

It's about time.

Someone's more worried than you.

I must

calm him down first.

OK.

Mr. Yan, I get it.

I'll take care of it.

Call your brother.

OK.

[Shitou]

Shitou.

Chang Zheng,

the 20 million you lent me

really helped me out.

I paid off the debt

and no one would sue me.

I'm finally safe.

Glad to hear that.

What about Mom?

How's she doing?

She's right here.

Talk to her.

Son,

how are you doing?

Is everything alright?

Mom, I'm OK.

Everything's good.

Stay at home.

I'll visit you sometime.

I'll hang up.

He hung up.

Can my brother

understand this call?

Don't worry.

We talked about it before.

Will my son be in danger?

Ma'am,

don't worry too much.

Mr. Yan,

what's all this about?

First, I'd like to tell you

that Chief Zhang is safe now.

Tonight, something indeed happened

beyond our expectations.

But luckily,

everything's going as scheduled.

Now,

we're at a very critical part of the plan.

What plan?

To totally convince the Zhaos

of Chang Zheng's blood oath.

I'm sorry

for keeping it from you before.

This plan is

only revealed to the Secret Task Force,

Chang Zheng,

and Zhang Qiufeng.

Chang Zheng's return to the Zhaos

is an undercover plan.

Is the Secret Task Force really dissolved?

I know you have many questions to ask.

Calm down

and listen to me.

Approved by the Public Security Department,

we pretend to be dissolved

to trick the Zhaos.

Actually,

we moved to a new place

in the suburb.

Everything's actively ongoing.

Has Qiu Tao brought back the evidence?

Qiu Tao is missing.

Since

I asked him to stop his undercover mission,

we've lost touch.

I have a feeling

that he might have died.

The evidence...

I know Qiu Tao very well.

Even at the risk of his life,

he would protect the evidence.

If he's really dead,

I guess

he has hidden the pen drive

somewhere in Zhao's Villa.

Mr. Yan,

I've got a new undercover plan.

New undercover plan?

So, now,

I have to return to the Zhaos.

No way. It's way too dangerous.

You're totally incompatible with them.

And I guess

you turned Zhao Pengchao down.

If you change your mind so quickly,

they'll suspect you.

I've thought about that.

But to me,

I don't care about danger.

The evidence is

so important to us.

No one can get it, but me.

This is our only chance.

I have to go there.

If you insist,

you need a perfect plan.

Chang Zheng knew

if he easily agreed

to go with Zhao Pengchao,

he would be suspected.

So, he asked his colleagues

to put up a show with him.

A show?

Zhao Pengchao transferred 20 million

to Chang Zheng's bank card.

We've checked it out.

Han Ya borrowed the money from Zhao Pengchao

to help Chang Shi pay his debt.

But Zhao Pengchao insisted

that he should transfer the money

to Chang Zheng's bank card.

It's so vicious of Zhao Pengchao.

He knew Chang Zheng was his brother

but he still tried to frame him.

Taking advantage of this,

Chang Zheng made the Zhaos think

they were much wiser.

We gave way

the money transfer case

and made Chang Zheng a target for all.

All the other policemen

despised him.

In this case,

he returned to the Zhaos

and started a new undercover plan

to find the evidence Qiu Tao left.

Mr. Yan,

you mentioned the show.

What is that?

Even if he was back to the Zhaos,

he was far from

being really trusted

by them.

Mr. Yan.

Any news about Qiu Tao?

I only heard

that Qiu Tao disappeared from Zhao's Villa.

But I'm not allowed to get into the villa yet.

What?

They don't have you live there?

Zhao Pengchao gave me many excuses.

Actually, they just don't trust me.

Outside the villa,

they have a house for me.

Also,

they mentioned some names.

But I think they were testing me.

Your priority is to find the pen drive.

Got it.

You must be patient.

Pretend to be a playboy for the moment.

I'll see

if I can do something

to make them trust you.

OK.

What's on your mind?

Zhang Qiufeng.

In my heart,

I more or less feel awkward.

Blood oath.

What does it mean?

You're back to Zhaojiawei.

However,

you don't even make it into Zhao's Villa.

It means they don't trust you.

So,

I arrested Jia Xiaoqiang

and pushed Li Bodong.

No wonder he got heated.

As far as I know him,

he can't rest assured

until he kills me.

As I expected,

he contacted the Zhaos.

Your first condition

to return to the Zhaos

is to avenge your father's death,

right?

Think about it.

A perfect chance to solve two problems.

Neither Zhao Xiaosheng

nor Zhao Pengchao

will let this chance go.

So,

he wants to be your blood oath.

Only in this way

will they fully believe you

and can you walk into Zhao's Villa

very proudly.

No way.

It's too risky.

If we don't take this move,

you know what?

All our previous plans

will be wasted.

Don't forget.

Chang Fei,

Xiao Chen,

and Zhao Pengcheng

would die for nothing.

Qiu Tao is missing now.

So many people have died.

You can't be the next.

This is

what we have to do.

We must do this.

But,

we'll try our best

to make sure

that Qiufeng lives.

According to our original plan,

Zhang Qiufeng would not die.

Zhao Pengchao gave Chang Zheng a gun.

We did something on it

by replacing the real bullets

with blank cartridge.

A blood pack was on Zhang Qiufeng.

When Chang Zheng shot

and ripped the pack open,

blood would squirt

as if Qiufeng died.

To cooperate with Chang Zheng,

the Provincial Brigade transferred

SWAT,

Internet supervisors,

and other related police

for full support.

Technicians

also intercepted

images of the Zhaos' drones

for my own use.

Technically,

it was a perfect arrangement.

But at the critical moment,

something unexpected

still happened.

Target 8 o'clock,

a sniper is detected.

No matter who he is,

if he moves,

shoot him dead.

Don't shoot him.

What are you doing?

Grab my gun.

Are you crazy? It has real bullets.

We're home.

Son,

welcome home.

We've done so much.

Zhang Qiufeng

risked his life

just to make sure

Chang Zheng

can completely return

to the Zhaos.

Chang Zheng,

if Zhao Xiaosheng

doesn't see you kill me,

he won't trust you.

No. Let go!

Let go!

Listen, Chang Zheng.

If now,

you don't shoot me,

my effort over all these years

will be wasted.

Your father

would die for nothing, too.

Understand?

Isn't this the famous Ghost Island in Changwu City?

What are we coming for?

Get in and you'll know.

What a big...

Umbrella.

Dad asked me

to bring you here.

This is

kind of the core place of our family.

Above there

are our protective umbrellas.

Check them out.

Zhang Qiufeng?

He and I didn't get along very well.

But who'd have thought

that I killed him?

Destiny.

This is his destiny.

Do you believe in destiny?

It is

quite interesting.

Our parents divorced.

I had a 50% chance

to live with Mom.

But if I had lived with her,

I would have to

fight my way out

of this cruel society

like she did.

Sure.

I wouldn't starve.

But to be rich, I had to beg for help.

If I begged for help,

I would always worry

that someone had something on me.

Thanks to destiny,

I stayed with Dad

and would inherit our family properties.

Destiny brought you here, too.

So, I'm taking you into this place

just to tell you

that we can share everything.

Teamwork makes

the dream work.

We should operate

so that we can develop Four Seas Group

throughout the world.

Look.

This is

where Mr. Know-it-all indicated, I guess.

Exactly.

This is it.

Guys,

please search this area carefully.

The investigation

over the Zhaos

has come to the most crucial point.

After finding clues and collecting evidence

for over nine months,

our Secret Task Force

has basically confirmed the structure,

core management,

leading members,

and protective umbrellas

of the Zhaos criminal gang.

231 people

are involved.

They've done

over 90 criminal cases.

Our undercover investigator Qiu Tao

found the key evidence

Zhao Pengcheng left.

However,

he was missing when trying to leave.

Some signs suggest

that Mr. Qiu Tao

might have been killed.

Now,

we're taking new action.

When Chang Zheng returns to the Zhaos,

he'll get into Zhao's Villa,

and find the pen drive

Qiu Tao failed to take out.

Once the pen drive is found,

time to take down

the Zhaos criminal gang.

So, I suggest

we should

immediately establish a leading group,

build a strong team for the arrest,

and mobilize the provincial police for cooperation.

I quite agree.

And I suggest

that you three

make up the leading group.

Now I declare.

Mr. Yan Guohua,

you're the commander in chief.

Yes, sir.

Mr. Yang Chaoxu,

you're the chief dispatcher.

Yes, sir.

Mr. Zhou Zhenggang, you're the coordinator.

Yes, sir.

You discuss and choose

relevant cooperation units and departments.

I'll make arrangements

according to your requests.

Thank you for the trust, sir.

I won't let you down.

[Welcome to Zhaojiawei]

Zhaojiawei seems to be quiet

and normal

at ordinary times.

But it's very complicated, actually.

Six sentries like that.

Visible sentries.

Guess how many invisible sentries there are.

How many?

18.

Whenever a stranger comes in,

he'll be detected.

If you behave well,

no one cares.

But if you do anything suspicious,

sentries will pop out in front of you.

You know quite a lot

about this place.

Who am I?

Mr. Know-it-all

and Walking Map.

That...

That factory...

Which one?

Does it belong to the Zhaos?

Yeah.

Let's go have a look. Go.

I'm...

I'm not going.

That's Sangniu's territory.

A few days ago, a driver

was taken there.

I've never seen him again.

Which driver?

Master's personal driver,

Qiu Tao.

She even got rid of

my father's driver?

She was brutal.

I heard

he was first hung and whipped.

Then he was put in the electric chair.

In the end,

he was thrown into the sea.

A tragic death, anyway.

Drive around over there.

I'll just look around.

What are you scared of?

I'm here. Hurry.

Come on.

Why must you bring me?

How about

you look around alone?

Fine. I'll look around alone.

Wait for me.

Shall we leave?

This place is creepy.

Pengzheng.

Let's go.

Go.

What have you got?

I can't drink any more.

Drink.

Cheers.

Cheers.

Think about...

Qiu Tao, I mean.

He was my father's bodyguard

and driver.

What did he do

that got him killed?

What did he do?

Something terrible.

Very terrible.

How terrible?

Guards in Zhao's Villa told me

that Qiu Tao

stole something from Pengchao's laptop.

What did he steal?

Something fatal, I believe.

Pengchao asked him to hand it over

but he refused.

He refused?

Why didn't Pengchao search him?

Come on...

He did.

When he was caught,

it had been

only 20 minutes

since he stole that.

He didn't even

leave Zhao's Villa.

Pengchao

searched him from head to toe

and searched the villa from top to bottom

but still didn't find it.

Isn't it weird?

He didn't leave the villa

but the thing couldn't be found?

He tried to sneak away

but was caught at the gate.

So, the thing's still in the villa.

Apparently.

He's dead, anyway.

That thing is

definitely in the villa.

Pengchao stopped looking for it, then.

Come on.

Cheers, Pengzheng.

You should

be careful.

Don't get killed someday.

I'm with you. Who dares to kill me?

When he was caught,

it had been

only 20 minutes

since he stole that.

He didn't even leave Zhao's Villa.

Pengchao

searched him from head to toe

and searched the villa from top to bottom

but still didn't find it.

Isn't it weird?

[Changwu No.1 Detention House]

[Meeting Room]

Dad.

[Meeting Room]

Niannian.

Niannian,

I'm OK.

What about you?

Good.

I'm doing good.

Glad to hear that.

Niannian,

my case

has nothing to do with Chang Zheng.

He did the right thing.

Chang Zheng and I are over.

Why did that happen?

It's...

It's my fault.

I disturbed your relationship.

Dad, don't bother about me.

Your case is more important.

Now,

tell me exactly what happened.

I'll defend you in court.

No, no, no.

Niannian,

stay out of this.

OK?

I ask you

to leave Four Seas Group,

the Zhaos,

and Changwu City.

Go back to Australia.

Why?

Don't ask.

It's for your own good.

I can do that, but...

I need a reason.

If you don't want me to worry about you,

listen to me.

Leave the Zhaos

and leave Zhao Pengchao.

Return to Australia immediately.

Dad, you keep asking me

to stay away from Zhao Pengchao.

Did he do something illegal?

Don't ask too much.

I won't hurt you, anyway.

Do you hear?

No way.

I'm your attorney.

You must tell me.

Dad.

Dad, if you don't explain it,

how can I return to Australia without anxiety?

They're right.

I did something illegal.

I did all those things

for the Zhaos.

Zhao Pengchao is

behind everything.

My relationship with the Zhaos

can't be explained in a few words.

Anyway,

remember this.

Zhao Pengchao and his father are evil.

Leave the Zhaos

and leave Zhao Pengchao immediately.

Go back to Australia.

Dad, what...

What's all this about?

Stop asking.

Don't ask Zhao Pengchao, either.

The less you know, the safer you are.

Remember what I said.

Go back to Australia.

Leave the Zhaos

and leave Zhao Pengchao.

And... And...

Stay out of my case.

Officer.

Dad, you have to explain it.

Just stay out of it!

Dad.

Leave the Zhaos.

[Meeting Room]
