was one of the best times
of my life,

but one of the most challenging.

the same man.

Of course
there's going to be drama.

There's going to be jealousy.
There's going to be competition.

It's just inevitable.

In the bedroom, you know,
there's a certain way

to how it's played out.

We had to follow the rules,

and he had to perform
certain obligations to us.

We got the allowance. He paid
for certain things for us,

bought us cars.

He needed us to be at his side
and look pretty.

-Right? So, and we--

-It was a trade, a trade-off.
-So it was a two-way--

It was understood. I mean,
we just knew that we lived

in his world,
and we had to follow the rules.

My name is Hugh Hefner,

and I'm editor-publisher
of "Playboy" magazine.

REPORTER: Playboy is one

of the most famous brand names
in the world.

It was simply to include sex as

one natural part of a package
for a male audience.

WOMAN: When I made the choice
to do "Playboy,"

I didn't realize all
the choices that I was making

that came with that choice.

PITZULO: We don't judge the men
for buying the "Playboy"s,

but we judge the women
for posing for "Playboy."

JILL:
I was never Jill anymore.

I was Jill
that posed for "Playboy."

and knew that I was

probably gonna go to hell.

It got to a certain point

where it wasn't fun anymore.

This process was very painful,

but I should be able to tell
my story as I lived it.

I'm here at Hugh Hefner's house
because Hef is having a revival.

He's just reinvented himself
at age 75.

He has seven bouncy babes
as girlfriends.

Being one of
the seven girlfriends was...

one of the best times
of my life,

but one of the most challenging.

My name is Zoe, and I was
one of the seven girlfriends.

I was born in London,
had a great childhood.

I was athletic.

I was doing gymnastics.
I was like a tomboy.

The first I knew of "Playboy"
was from Pamela Anderson.

I used to watch "Baywatch,"

so anything Pamela Anderson
caught my eye.

I knew that I wanted to do
what she was doing.

And I said to myself,
oh, my God,

I don't want to stay
in England.

So I'm like,
well, what is the way out?

I thought, modeling.
I'm already modeling.

But how do I do something
like Page 3?

"The Sun" newspaper
and "The Daily Mirror"

in the U.K.--they started having
topless girls

on what they call Page 3.

If you look at the newspaper,

the first thing you open
on this side was Page 3.

For a young girl
who was prepared to do this,

it was a big step up.

ZOE: I kind of watched
Pamela Anderson.

She was such an icon,

and everyone wanted
to look like Pam.

She definitely inspired me
to get big tits. [giggles]

And then after that,
I sent my pictures into Page 3.

They said to me,
"If you get featured,

you'll just be out in the paper.
We don't call you."

One day, my phone rings,
and it's my father,

and he says,
"Zoe, your mother is furious."

I run down to the newsagents,
and I grabbed the paper,

and there I was...

...on Page 3,
topless with my new implants.

From that day,
things just hit off.

I was on TV.

I was doing commercials.

I had, like, blown up.
I was hot.

It was, like, the perfect time
to start working in America.

When I first saw Hugh Hefner
at the nightclub with the girls,

it was a very glamorous vision.

The girls were so perfect
and sparkly and pretty

and like
fairy ballerina princesses.

This world was so fascinating

because that was just not
my reality.

My name is
Izabella St. James,

and I was one of the seven
girlfriends of Hugh Hefner.

I was born in Poland

during a time
when the country was communist.

Life was pretty hard. Not just
lack of freedom of speech,

but so many other things
were limited.

We packed up our things
and went on a trip to Greece,

applied for asylum there,

and we moved to Canada.

It was cold.
There was so much snow.

I mean, there are icicles
big enough to kill you

falling off of buildings
as I was going to class.

I'm over this.

I decided I needed to go
to law school, somewhere warm.

The first school
that accepted me was

Pepperdine University
in Malibu, California.

I mean,
as soon as I saw the campus,

I was like, I accept.

It's hard to be serious in
Malibu with sunshine every day.

Then on the weekends,
you go out with your girlfriends

to clubs in Hollywood.

[dance music playing]

[horn honks]

And it was
during one of those outings

that I first met Hugh Hefner.

My friend Vanessa--

she said,
"I have to go meet him."

So, we went up, and I was just,
like, the little,

you know, dork, like, "Hi."
[giggles]

And he was like,
"Well, hello, darling."

And I was like, "Well, hello."
[laughs]

And he said,
"How would you like to come

to the Playboy Mansion
this Sunday?"

And we were like...

"Absolutely."

ZOE: From the minute
I landed in L.A.,

I was booking modeling gigs,

and that's when
the Sunday Funday thing came up.

My agency suggested it to me,

and I was like,
"Yes, I wanna go."

When I first pulled out
to the Mansion,

I was just blown away.

The gates were opening,
and my heart started beating.

It was like a fairy tale.

IZABELLA:
You see these beautiful grounds

and steps leading up
and these lion columns.

Just stunning.

I walked through the house
and out into the grounds.

I just felt like I was looking
at my whole life ahead of me.

It was beautiful.

Hef was sitting
at the end of the pool

with a couple of his friends.

So, I sat on the tanning bed,
and I oiled myself up,

and I just waited.

There was people swimming,
and I couldn't believe

how carefree and nice
and welcoming everybody was.

One of the girls smacked me
and said,

"He's walking this way."

I was
so fricking nervous.

Boom-boom, boom-boom,
boom-boom, boom-boom,

my heart, my heart, my heart.

I decided to go up to Hef
and say hello.

And I'm thinking
he's gonna walk straight by me.

He came and sat on the end
of the chair, and I was like,

"Oh, God, he's [bleep]
right in front of me."

And he's like, "Hi, honey."

And I was like, "Hi, Hef.

Thank you for inviting me
to the party."

And he said, "My pleasure."

You know?
He said, "What are you doing?

I said, "Oh, I'm in
my final year of law school."

"So, uh, you're new here."

I was like, "Yeah."
And he's like...

IZABELLA:
"You are so beautiful, and..."

"I'd like to, uh, ask you if
you'd like to come out with us."

-"You know, this Thursday."
-ZOE: And I said yes.

I was flattered that he took
some kind of interest in me.

Well, I felt like
I'd won the lottery.

-[horn honks]
-Three days later,

I got to the Mansion,
walked into the dining room.

There was a couple of girls
already sitting there.

They said, "Hey! Come in!"

They introduced themselves
as girlfriends.

Five minutes later, another girl
would come down the stairs,

and then came another girl,
and then came another girl,

and then came another girl.

They were all his girlfriend.

And, of course, that's
something people talked about,

like, "Oh, there's one
of his girlfriends.

Who's that? A girlfriend."

Everyone explained
that he had been married,

had the children,

but he just entered a different
era of being a bachelor

and having fun
and not committing to one woman.

And the girls who would
go out with him,

some were his girlfriends.

Almost all of them
were Playmates.

Some were just like me.

He met a girl
that he was interested in

and invited her out.

And that's when I first met Zoe.

Immediately,
I knew that I'd found someone

that I could giggle with,
have fun with.

We instantly liked each other,

even though
we couldn't be more different.

I was in law school,
very traditional,

conservative background,
and she was a Page 3 girl.

I was like, what is Page 3?
You know, she would always joke,

"You're the lawyer,
and I'm the criminal."

I was like,
"Don't get in trouble.

I don't do criminal law.
I can't get you out."

That first night at the club,

going out with Hef
and the girls, I really--

I honestly didn't know what
to think. It was fascinating.

I was just
in this strange world,

but everyone
is so relaxed and carefree,

so very much, unlike what
I am like inside, you know?

My lifestyle at the time
was so rigorous.

It was just
a breath of fresh air, honestly.

And so that first night,

we go back to the Mansion,

and the girls are talking about

who's going up
to Hef's room after.

At this point, I mean,
you'd have to be pretty naive

not to understand that
something is going on here,

that he has some kind
of interest in you.

I was curious, obviously, like,
what really happens, you know?

No one made me feel like
I had to participate.

It was encouraged.

And I didn't participate
in anything that night.

I-I was uncomfortable.

So, I was like,
I'm gonna go home.

[laughs] And I headed home

'cause I had school
the next day.

But this is, like, the prelude.

-IZABELLA: Okay, this one.
-ZOE: I like that picture.

That's a lot of us. What is it?

Oh, is this like
a Playmate luncheon, maybe.

-Yeah.
-Look how innocent we look.

This must have been early on.

We're wearing white,
and we look very normal.

And we look happy.

IZABELLA: That first night
at the Playboy Mansion,

I didn't participate,
and I went back to my apartment,

and I don't
remember what Zoe did.

I think she might have stayed.

I stayed at the Mansion,
absolutely.

Everyone went upstairs.

I could hear, you know,
cackling, giggling,

like fun was going on.

And we go into the room,
and it's a big, massive bed

with, like, two big screens
playing, um, porn.

And all the girls were, like,
kind of pouring in the room.

Uh, not yet.

One of the girls
opened one of the drawers

and grabs
a bunch of toys out of this.

Toys, like sex toys.

She put them all on the bed
like this was normal for them.

They said, "Go on,
plug yours in, plug yours in."

And I was like, what?

She's like, "Don't worry.
They've all been washed.

The cleaner washes them."
And I was thinking...okay.

I was just kind of
going along with it, you know?

It didn't seem like
anything bad was going on,

and I was having fun.

Hef walked in the room
in the cutest pajamas.

Everyone was
entertaining themselves,

like, giggling, cackling, and...
[imitates buzzing]

[laughs]

It was just a great time.

I did not have sex with Hef
on the first time of going out.

I left because it was
getting late. Simple as that.

Couple days went by.
They called me again.

I started to go out regularly

with Izabella
and Hef and the girls.

And it was, um, the third time
we went out

that I actually indulged in
the activities in the bedroom.

And became a point
where I started

officially hanging out
with Hef,

and he told me he wanted me
to be one of the girls.

Hef sat Zoe and I down, and he
said, "You know, girls..."

"I hear that you are interested
in becoming

a permanent resident,"
or whatever he said.

It was something funny,
and he said...

"I would like for you to move
into the Playboy Mansion."

And we were like, wow, you know?

It was such an honor
because we knew

so many girls
who wanted that invitation,

and then here we got it.

And it was like,
"I'll do it if you do it."

And it's possible
that if she didn't do it,

I would have not done it.

Zoe and I moved into
the Playboy Mansion together

on April 2, 2002.

It was this
once-in-a-lifetime opportunity

to live
an extraordinary lifestyle,

to participate in a world
that was so fascinating,

foreign, strange, unorthodox.

It was a singular opportunity
to do that.

I was 26 years old.

I've completed
my educational requirements.

I felt like
I could have a break.

So, if you're going to do
something like this,

you're going to do it now,
and no one will ask you again.

Uh, there were some rules
we had to follow.

I think the most infamous rule
was the 9 p.m. curfew.

If you weren't home by 9,

security would report to him
and let him know.

So, if you wanted to do
a yoga class,

you'd better be sure
that class was over

in time for you
to get home by 9.

There was a rule
that you are not to be dating

anyone outside of the Mansion.

-Can you have boyfriends at all?
-No.

-No.
-You're not allowed to.

Hef is your boyfriend.

We don't wanna be
with anybody else.

You know, he gives us
everything that we need.

And so Hef
is your only boyfriend.

Yeah.

People say, "Oh, my God,
that's so dysfunctional."

But every girl that moved
into the Mansion

knew exactly what
they were signing up for.

[photographers shouting at once,
camera shutters snapping]

As much as I'd like to play
devil's advocate and say, yeah,

it's a double standard,
I don't think it is,

because it was always the rule,

and so you knew what
you're getting yourself into.

If you wanted to
have another boyfriend,

then you shouldn't date Hef.

But when you're one
of Hef's girlfriends,

there are so many perks
that go along with that.

We really had
the days to ourselves.

so whether you wanted to
work out, go on a hike,

go to the beach, go shopping.

ZOE: There was an account
at Trashy Lingerie.

You get to go
to the beauty salon

and get your hair done.

I mean, I can't tell you how
much time we spend at salons.

Oh, God. Nails, hair, makeup,
all that stuff.

And if you wanted
plastic surgery,

he would provide you that.

When I moved into the Mansion,

I had always wanted a nose job.

I got one.

And then after that,
I wanted bigger boobs,

So, I got those, too.

I would say
it was very glamorous

being one of the seven.

You know, Zoe and I sometimes
would just get up

and go lay by the pool,

order
a little strawberry daiquiri,

and just pinch ourselves
like, "This is our life."

Every week we had to go
and ask Hef for our allowance.

You would have to go
to Hef's bedroom,

you know, Friday morning.

We usually liked to go
at least in twos. [laughs]

Zoe and I would
usually go together.

ZOE:
Sit on his bed and say,

"Hi, honey.
I'm here for my allowance,"

which was $1,000 a week.

The wardrobe allowance
was $2,000

for any events or any parties

that were being held
at the Mansion.

Mm. I, you know,

it's not prostitution. I was--

I was working for a company,

and I was simply looking
at Hef as,

I wanna be--I wanna work
for you and your company,

I want to help make your company
better if I can in any way.

IZABELLA:
It was a 2-way street.

We had to follow the rules,

and he had to perform
certain obligations to us.

We got the allowance. He paid
for certain things for us,

covered insurance,
bought us cars.

He needed us to be at
his side and look pretty.

-Yeah.
-Right? So, and we--

-A trade. It's a trade-off.
-So, it was a 2-way--

We just knew
that we lived in his world,

and we had to follow the rules.

JULIAN: The mansion
was like a time capsule.

If the carpet would
start getting run down,

you know, he would replace it
with the same carpet

or the--the walling
or whatever like that.

He--he was very into
preserving the house

similar to what it was
when he purchased it.

So...it felt almost like this...

haunted mansion in a way.

My name is Julian,
and I was a butler

at the Playboy Mansion
from 2000 to 2006.

I love the butlers. Love them.

IZABELLA: Zoe and I had
so much fun with the butlers.

When we were by the pool,
we'd order drinks,

and we would spray them
with water guns.

It broke the routine.
They laughed, we laughed.

We became friends
with some of them.

Even though there was
a no fraternization rule,

somehow I was still able
to have fun with people

like Izabella and Zoe,

joking around, maybe throwing
something in their room at them,

but in a playful way.

Julian really helped to
take care of my puppy, Balbina.

I was very, very appreciative
of him doing that.

ZOE: Being able to press zero
on the phone

and order whatever you like
at whatever time of day was...

one of the things
I never took for granted.

Never.

[bell dings]

JULIAN: Whenever they wanted,
and this was 24 hours a day,

so they could call at 4 a.m.,

and we'd deliver them
whatever it is they wanted.

So many mornings I wake up,

and I just wish there was
a stationary phone

with a "zero" button
that I could press

and ask for some pancakes.

Wouldn't that be a dream,
you know?

Or ordering three things
for dinner,

because you don't have to choose
just one.

You could order all three.

I couldn't tell you if the girls
were a publicity stunt,

but to have seven
beautiful women on your arm

when you go out
into the hottest clubs in L.A.

definitely draws a crowd.

It draws interest,

and that's just more publicity
for your brand.

Whenever Hugh Hefner went out
with these seven girlfriends,

it was always
a fantastic, exciting time.

I spent more than 30 years

photographing
the Playboy empire.

And just again this way, sir,

if you look to your right.

-That's great.

-ZOE: He was just so on point.
-[snapping fingers]

Click, click, clack, clack,
clack, click, click, click.

All the time. He was great.

REPORTER:
Now you're going out at 10:20.

Well, there's nothing doing
in this town until about 11:00.

And he used to shoot us
when we would go out.

What a show it was
with us in our huge,

long, never-ending limo
with the Playboy Bunny.

Limo pulls up, door opens,

one girl after another,
traffic beeping,

and the people are
standing there staring,

and the flashes are going,
and it's just like,

wow, I can't believe--
you only see this stuff on TV.

-MAN: Now, girls, this way.
-[camera shutters clicking]

We were always escorted through
the ropes with our security.

Then we would go into
our roped area, you know,

with our velvet ropes,

and there are always people
wanting to come say hi to Hef

and meet Hef,
and Hef allowed it,

especially if it was,
you know, a beautiful girl.

Okay, so if we're at the club,

and Hef sees a gorgeous girl
over by the bar over there,

he'll say, "Honey,
why don't you go and invite them

back to the house
to come back and party?"

If Hef took a liking
to one of them,

he would make sure
he got her information

to invite her out again,
like he did with me.

The nightclub nights were
also the bedroom nights.

That was
the only expectation of us

to even enter Hef's bedroom,
honestly,

if you wanted to avoid
that bedroom entirely

the rest of the week,
you could.

Those were the two nights
we were expected to be there.

[camera shutter clicking]

In the bedroom, you know,

there's a certain way
to how it's played out.

One of the girls--she said,

"Here, take your clothes off
and put these pajamas on."

So she gave me
some pink pajamas.

Loved these pajamas, by the way.

I was learning from the girls
how it all went down.

It was fascinating
and kind of structured.

I had to know my place
and what not to do. [chuckles]

Girls all shower, take a bath,

and people sit on this bed,
and he would smoke a joint,

and girls would pop up
champagne bottles

and order food on the bed.
[laughs]

I was like, really?
We're having bean dip and chips?

Wow, okay. You know, that goes
great with champagne. [laughs]

As far as I understand, okay.
[laughs]

My--My job was to answer
that phone,

bring up that tray
of what it is they ordered,

leave it at the door,
and once that door closed,

you know, my--my--
my job ended right there.

What I saw happening
in the bedroom

wasn't as raw and intimate
as people expect it to be.

He'd take his Viagra
a certain time

and--and make sure he's ready,

and then it's a rotation
of, I guess, seniority of girl.

Someone starts him off,
gets him ready,

then, you know, number two...

then it goes into number three,
number four,

number five,
number six, number seven.

And then--

Yeah, it's probably--
I'm gonna say a minute,

but when you're doing that,
a minute feels like five.

[laughs]

I always said to people

the two years I spent
at the Playboy Mansion

was the least sexual time
I've had in my life.

People have these grand visions
of what takes place,

and it's just not that.

It was all very brief and, like,
a very pretty, nice illusion.

Living with six other girls

at the same time
was probably one

of the hardest things
I've ever done in my life.

IZABELLA: I mean, seven women
were dating the same men.

Of course,
there's going to be drama,

There's going to be jealousy.
There's going to be competition.

It just seems inevitable.

ZOE: At first,
living in the Mansion,

everything was amazing...

until the backbone
of the Mansion left,

which was Tina.

IZABELLA: Tina Jordan was
his main girlfriend,

and that meant
sharing a bedroom with Hef,

you know, sleeping in his bed
every night,

being sort of
at his beck and call,

and you had to be
very involved in his likes,

habits, and participate
in his lifestyle.

When Tina was there,
Tina wanted everyone to win.

Tina was the one
that set everything up

in the most perfect, fair way.

So, things were set in place,

and when she left...

everything changed after that
for the worse.

The benefits
started getting reduced.

The beauty salon
was taken away from us.

You know, all the--
the extras were taken away

because I was doing
the same work for less benefits,

and that's not fair to me.

I took two hours to get ready.

That's work, you know?

Um, I'm dressing up.

All of this is work to me,
and I'm a face of Playboy.

I'm making
that company look good

for Hef and for the company,
so it's a fair [bleep] trade.

I was working as a girlfriend,

being in the image
of a girlfriend.

I'm Holly.
Welcome to the Playboy Mansion.

IZABELLA:
Holly Madison had moved

into the number one
girlfriend position,

and at the time I was there,

Hef made it very clear
that marriage and children

and settling down
were not on his agenda.

He'd been there and done that,
and it was over.

So, when one
of Hef's seven girlfriends

makes it clear that she wants
to be the only one,

she wants to marry him
and have his child,

obviously creates

a very uncomfortable
and awkward situation

for the other six.

Uh, I don't wanna answer.
I'm not going to answer.

I wasn't into
the multiple girlfriend thing.

It's not about them.
It's just about I would

obviously rather be
in a relationship

where it's just me
and one other person.

Five years from today, Holly,
what are you doing?

Um, I wanna be married,
have kids,

and still be working
for Playboy, yeah.

With--With Hef?

LAURENCE: I don't feel Holly
was too happy with having

five or six other girls around,

and you could
sort of nearly see it.

There was always a look
or a thing,

and she made sure
she was next to Hef

when the pictures were taken.

JULIAN: I think we sensed
that there was drama

amongst some of the girls.

It seemed like
there were groups.

You know, at some point,
there became,

uh, it felt like factions.

You know,
it was me and Izabella.

Sheila was my girlfriend
who I introduced to Hef,

um, so automatically,
she's with me.

And then there was, uh,
Holly and Bridget.

I think they--
they tend to get along the most,

and they seemed to spend
the most time with each other.

But from what I gathered,
it seemed like

those two groups
seemed to kind of clash.

It's so hard to express

how toxic the situation

between all the females
who lived at the Mansion was.

It reminded me
of constant hazing.

I-I've never been in a sorority,

but I can only imagine.

Snarky comments. Um...

Leaving us out of things.

I mean, they would do
all kinds of things to bully us.

[sniffles] Sorry, just...

[crying] It's...

[exhales deeply, sniffles]

[exhales deeply]
I might need a tissue.

Thanks.

[sniffles] I don't know.
I just feel, um...

I feel that there's
a level of, um, injustice,

um, because some girls
have a platform

that they use to say things,
like on their podcast.

BRIDGET: It was just like this
miserable drama with the girls,

and it didn't even seem like Hef
was into half of those girls.

HOLLY: No.

BRIDGET: But we still had
to put up with the B.S.,

so two years felt like
five years.

-HOLLY: It felt like forever.
-BRIDGET: It felt--

I was just like,
when are they gonna leave?

Like, they're
obviously so miserable.

When are they gonna leave?

HOLLY: I was wondering
the same thing.

[laughter]

The way that we are being
characterized is so unfair,

and it's only because
somebody has a platform

and a voice and an audience,

and so then keyboard warriors
come and accost you

or assault you
and do their battles for them.

And that's just not fair.

No one's ever heard
our side of our story.

It's just, you know,
on social media.

"Oh, I heard you with this.
I heard you were that."

It's so childish.
Like, this is so 20 years ago.

I feel like I was picked on
and that we were bullied

and that we made--
were made to feel insecure.

And we were told
that we were not wanted there

by these women because
they wanted Hef to themselves.

So, if Hef gave us attention,

we were worried that they're
gonna retaliate somehow.

You know, everyone was there
for a different reason.

We could have all been
such a great group

until, you know, someone wanted
to get rid of all of us.

Being part of the Playboy world
was never part of my goal.

I never meant to stay
as long as I did.

I just wanted to

enjoy this
once-in-a-lifetime opportunity

and soak it in and--
and have fun

and then move on
with my own life.

After about a year and a half,

I just started to get tired
of some of the routines,

um, and longed for more freedom.

And honestly, the main thing
was the drama between the girls.

The way I feel is there was
just a master plan to,

one by one,
get rid of the girls.

It just got so exhausting.

It was so tiring,
and it became so unpleasant.

I still stayed for longer
than I expected to

because of the friendships
I developed.

You know, Zoe and I,
we were genuinely having fun,

but then Zoe got kicked
out of the Playboy Mansion.

ZOE: Hef came to my room
in the morning,

knocked on the door,

and he sat on the floor,

which is something he does
when it's really important.

He said, "Honey..."

He couldn't look at my face,

and he said,
"Honey, I think it's time

that we have to part ways."

And I was like... [gulps]

He's like,
"Because, you know, the drama."

And I was like,
"I know, I know."

The number one girlfriend and I
were just not getting along.

You know, we hadn't spoke for
close to, like, three months.

I agreed with him.

It's been tense,
and it's not fair to him.

And I was so sick of fighting
to be innocent,

so sick of fighting
to prove myself.

Honestly, I wanted
to tell Hef I'm leaving

the minute I found out
that Zoe's leaving.

Now me being by myself left me
vulnerable, and I thought

the girls that remained

were just going to
make my time miserable.

But Hef begged me to stay

and begged me
to give it a chance.

I decided to go out
one more time to a club night.

And as I expected,

the other girls were
exceptionally cruel and rude

and sort of triumphant
in the fact

that my best friend
got kicked out.

It was very hard for me,
and, um, I threw a fit because

one of the girls said
something bad about me to Hef,

and he questioned me about it,
and it was untrue,

and it was hurtful,

and I...didn't feel like
defending myself anymore,

and I just didn't care.

I said I wasn't coming home
with him that night.

I stayed at the club. After he
said, "We're going home,

I said, "No, I'm staying."

And then I ended up taking
a taxi home on my own terms.

Except I had no cash. [laughs]

And Playboy Mansion security
had to pay for my taxi.

So, there was
my independent moment,

but, uh... [laughs]

I packed my things
the very next day.

I think that Hef did enjoy
a degree of the drama

between the girls,
and there were instances where

he said things
that would fuel the fire.

It got to a certain point
where it wasn't fun anymore.

It got too tense
with all of us girls,

but we still had to be
in the same group,

under the same roof, and do
the same things with each other.

I feel like it started
to wear on him a bit.

We couldn't perform
and play the role

that we're supposed to play
when things are so ugly.

[bird cawing]

After I left
the Playboy Mansion,

I had a very strong reaction
to dressing in a sexy way.

Specifically,
anything with pink and sparkles

and rhinestones was just...

[inhales sharply]
it burned my eyes.

[laughs] I just couldn't do it.

It hit me that I had been this
sex object there for so long,

and I just revolted.
I just couldn't do it.

I started dressing
black and white

and wearing baggy clothes.

I just didn't want to be
perceived in a sexual way.

I didn't want to be sexualized.

I had to start over
and rediscover myself.

I finished shooting
"Playboy" images, parties

when it started to wind down.

The party started to end
after "The Girls Next Door."

He stopped having
Playmate of the Year

at the Mansion,

stopped having parties
at the Mansion.

And then at the end,
he just got, I think, too old,

and he just
wasn't doing the publicity.

No, I don't think so.

These are my girlfriend.

Every one of them
is your girlfriend?

-Yes.
-You must feel so special.

It would be looked down on
more than it was in the '90s.

I think it was the right period.

And, you know,
even if he was, you know,

a 50-year-old man
with seven girlfriends,

I think today
it's just not the same.

ZOE: After I left the Mansion,
I continued modeling.

I did some more acting.
I did some adult movies.

So, today

I have an OnlyFans for my fans
from being a Page 3 girl,

from being involved
with Playboy, you know?

I have fans that have
dated back, um, 20 years.

So, now I'm kind of moving into
the beauty side of esthetics.

You know, I'm training for, uh,

doing Botox and fillers
and things like that, so...yeah.

IZABELLA: I did graduate from
law school. I have my degree,

but I did not complete
my Bar entry requirements,

so that I am not
a practicing attorney.

After my life
at the Playboy Mansion,

I just wasn't drawn to law
anymore the way I was before.

It was two years
of this insane lifestyle,

and when I left,
I was not the person I went in.

And so I had to build
and create a new life.

One of the greatest things
that happened to me

while I was living
at the Playboy Mansion

is that all the girls had dogs.

For as long as I can remember,
since leaving Poland,

I was never able to have one

for financial reasons
or studying reasons.

And I was like,
does this mean I can get a dog?

And he said, "Absolutely."

Hef bought me my first
little pug girl, Balbina,

and then my little boy Bogart,

who I named after his favorite
actor, Humphrey Bogart,

and they changed my life.

I believe there are plenty

I did love Hef, but it was
a different kind of love.

Because the dynamics
were so different,

and it was such
an unorthodox relationship.

But I did love him.

I'm sure, you know, Mr. Hefner

maybe didn't wanna
see it in this way,

but I think most people
had a fatherly love for him.

They looked up to him as
somebody they really respected.

Some were there,
I guess, as you can say,

arm candy, and were there,
uh, to have a place to live

and to--to do what it is
they want to do.

And some of them had a--
I would say--

a deeper connection
and relationship with him.

I mean, if you ask me,
everyone had an agenda.

You know?

She did. He did. Hef did.
They all did.

Those were the good days,
'cause we all look happy.

I loved my life.

I'm so happy with that.
[sniffles]

I adored Hef.

I loved him in a way
of being protective of him.

I wasn't in love with him
romantically.

He was my security.

He was my boss,

and I'm--I guess I was just very
protective of him in that way.

IZABELLA: I don't regret
becoming one of the seven.

I think it was
a truly remarkable experience.

I have the rest of my life to
live a normal life, and I have,

and I work very hard,
and let me tell you,

it's... [laughs] it's not easy.

That was an easy time.

Uh, but no regrets.

ZOE: To some people,

it might seem like
an unconventional choice,

but to me, it was my choice.

I did it my way, you know,
and I am grateful for it,

because all of my dreams
came true through Playboy
