in all their casinos
they gotta fill.

These guys are gonna be
so critical for our growth.

are they committing to

on the reservation
in the first year?

- They're gonna build
it up slow,

so they said three to four

a massive opportunity.

So that's a huge thing
that can add stress.

- What does launching
the women's line mean,

well, like, for us?

The day-to-day implications
of putting all their own money

on something that'll take
several years to develop is...

really hard.

It's a big opportunity, though.

I mean, it could double
our business if we do it right.

The stakes feel significantly
higher now than they even did

before we launched
the Municipal brand.

- We're gonna be fine.

It takes a lot more than that
to build a real business.

- So I built the first one
just for personal use--

for going to the gym
and making a protein shake

that wasn't lumpy.

'Cause there's shaker bottles

and there's little plastic
portable blenders

that's not really
a full-powered blender.

- Blender Cap is a high-powered
blender in a cap

that fits on a thermally
insulated container.

- So you're putting
all the materials in here--

- Yeah. Then you can blend it.

- And then you just--

- Portable blenders suck
right now.

They're not gonna suck anymore.

- I'm always looking
for people to be optimistic

about their vision
and to be visionary.

But I also really want reality
of what is it today.

One of the worst things is
when there's a misalignment

on expectations.

So if you're going
to sell something

to an investor
and get their money,

it better be as honest and real
as you can make it.

- Couple design things too.
- Oh, shit.

- The first one we made,
we realized,

"Okay, that's a weapon."
- Yeah.

- That's a problem.
- Yeah. Yeah.

- So what we've done is,
we've actually designed

a safety switch in here.

If the gasket is not
under compression

and fully on the bottle,
doesn't turn on.

You want to make a smoothie?

They pulled PI
out of their bag.

- Oh, yeah.
- Yeah, we got a--

we'll do a margarita
with full ice.

- It's a portable blender.

And they're making a smoothie.

- We have a supply chain
to scale it.

Where we need help.

- Need help, you know,

selling it and marketing.

You know,
we're manufacturing guys.

- Uh-huh.
- That's not our expertise.

- These guys created something
that's a great idea

and could be
really successful.

- Fantastic.
- Is it blended well?

- Smooth.

- But launching a new product

takes marketing,
creating awareness

about their product...

- We worked on bringing
the Apple Watch

to market originally.

You know, we lead teams
that do that professionally.

- And what do you think
the price point should be?

- We want to sell them
for $119.

In the U.S., they sold

25.8 million blenders
last year.

So if we can sell 5% of that,

it's $119 million in revenue.

We want somebody
that believes in the brand...

- Yeah.
- That's focused on our brand

and can promote it on top
of just giving us a check.

I want to see Instagram posts

of Mark making a protein shake
in the morning,

'cause I bet he does
every morning.

- Every--of course.

- Obviously they're both
successful in their fields

and they have the willingness
to do whatever it takes

to get there, but, you know,
I also need to get

into where they are
financially

and see if it makes sense
for me

to invest in the business.

- We definitely think
going public

is the best opportunity
for the business right now

when it comes to expanding

and kind of just spreading
our wings a little bit.

- Well, after 2 1/2 years,
it's great to be here finally.

- Oh, I know. It's been
a long haul, I tell you.

From the very first meeting
that we had

before making
our initial investment,

Mark and I said,
"We'll get involved

if we're able to help
take this company public."

- You guys have a meeting
today,

and I thought everything
was done.

- So today's meeting,
we negotiate a price

for the stock
that we're gonna give out

in the IPO.

We want to price this right

so that after it starts
to trade

on the New York Stock Exchange

that people are excited
about it

and the price keeps going
up and up and up.

IPO is a stepping stone

to achieve greater credibility
as a publicly traded company

so that we were less dependent

upon borrowing money
from banks.

But we always recognize
that going public wasn't

the end of our hard work;
it was the beginning

of the next phase of hard work.

There's a lot
of dollars at stake.

- Sounds like it's not going
to be a boring meeting.

[tense music]

- We just agreed
to IPO it at 16 bucks a share,

which is
what we were looking for.

So we're really excited
about it.

One small step for mankind--

or how does that go?
[laughs]

Giant leap.
- Well, considering everything

that happened with COVID
and all the fitness concepts

that didn't make it through,

we're in pretty good shape,
you know.

- I mean, the rebound

out of basically all--
worldwide, all studios closed

to where we are now,
which is over 90% open

in a very, very short
period of time,

is just frickin' amazing.

[upbeat music]

- Designing for men
and designing for women

are completely different
ball games.

- Hi. How are you guys?

- Hi, Rhea. How are you?

- And that is going to be
a huge learning process.

- This is a pretty big deal,
of course.

We always knew that women's
was gonna be

a major piece of Municipal.

Who is the Municipal woman?

And how is she unique
to what other people are doing?

And how will our product
be unique?

- Mm-hmm.

- I really didn't know
Rhea at all.

Like, is she reluctant?
Is she excited?

Is she--
how is this gonna work out?

- I love this.
- Right?

- I l--I feel like
these kind of leggings

are more forgiving...
- Absolutely.

- Than the ones
with all of the Lycra.

- Right.
- I was quickly put to ease

after a few minutes.

Of course
she's the right person

to help us do this.

She's got experience
as a model

who has made the transition
to being the best mother

and the best business partner.

And practically speaking,
she is the consumer.

- Would you offer it
with a hoodie

and then this style
and the cropped?

- Yeah, I think it depends
on how we--

how we architect
the line and...

- Yeah.
- Dollars and, you know,

a lot of...
- Yeah.

Math.
- Right.

- If we had
a board of advisers of ten,

nine of them would say
don't do what we're doing.

And maybe we should wait.

And maybe
somebody would tell me

the smart money is to wait
until you're

four or five years
down the line,

but I think certainly
the way that Mark's wired is,

if you feel like you got
a good idea, go for it.

Time is wasting.

on a need

for a broader brand name.

- The word "blender"
is not sexy.

Doesn't get you excited.

It's like, you want something
that sounds cool.

- Successful brand names

are either just
really amazing names,

or they're names
that are backed

by $100 million
marketing campaigns.

- One of the biggest
challenges, believe it or not,

is naming your company.

Some people want cool names.

I want a name
that when you look at it,

you know exactly what they do.

And if it's not
immediately obvious,

then you're gonna have to spend
more and more and more money

to create that connection.

- You told me about some
potential new bottle design.

And tell us about that
and where the product is.

- What we're
talking about really

is just finishing design,
getting the new bottles--

- So you're not ready
for the product yet.

- Not yet.

- Let's try to drill down

on those "use issues."

- Yeah.
- Once you have

this beautiful smoothie,

where do you put the cap?

I'm assuming that in the gym,

you'll have to put it
down on the floor.

That's another issue.
- Yeah.

I hear you.

One thing I didn't design

is adding sort of
a flip top lid to that.

- At this point, we totally
have faith in these guys

to get a great product
out there.

But they have to do it.

Like, right now, we don't have
that product in hand

that we could physically feel
and play around with and use.

- Blender Cap, we think,
is a little bit different.

And our forecasts
are a very bullish.

This is our original
projections:

a million units
over the first two years.

We know it's aggressive.

We think we can do it
if we can get enough eyeballs

and enough people seeing
the product in action.

- I believe in the concept
and the product.

But I feel like
your projections are...

overly ambitious.

I would take any number
that you've previously given us

and cut it by 90%.

- The first thing
I do need to remind you is,

this is a tech product.

This is not
a commodity product.

We're not trying
to sell something

that is already in the market.

We're offering a completely new

and improved user experience
for people.

- Well, just so you know,

I'm a worst-case scenario guy.

- Okay. We can look at that.

- Great. Well, we can
get after it pretty quickly.

Let us try to just get into it
now that we have the details

and convene
and get back to you super fast.
