Unknown: We're heading to our destination off the coast of Thailand,

I am joined by fellow divers,

Sweden, Norway, Germany, the US and Canada

are all represented here.

These waters long considered to be one of the best dive locations in all the
world.

Draw divers from all over.

There is another world of silent wonder underneath the waves

just waiting to be explored.

Jacques Cousteau the fame French oceanographer and pioneer of marine
conservation,

captured the essence of this underwater world when he said that

the sea once a casted spell on you,

hold you in its net of Wonder forever.

The exploration of these mystical sapphire waters has begun

and we set out to chart our course.

The reefs around the area are abundant

with both solid and colourful soft corals.

There is also an abundance of marine life.

Most of the dive locations in this area are suitable for all abilities of
divers.

leopard sharks are harmless to humans,

they pose no threat whatsoever.

These slender body features are distinguished by the striking pattern

of large spots across their's back.

They tend to remain in one area most of their lives

in favor Sandy flats with enclosed bays and reefs,

as they casually drift along the sandy bottom.

Another common sight is the puffer fish.

Although they appear to be slow moving

their tail fin functions as a rudder,

capable of generating a quick burst of speed.

They also have excellent eyesight and the unique ability

to move each of their eyes independently.

Coral reefs have existed for over 60 million years

1000s of powerful marine characters coexist

in this magnificent carnival of underwater life.

Diversity is actually a quality that contributes

to the flourishing beauty and vitality

of these coral reefs.

This marine sanctuary makes Phuket one of the top 10 dive sites in the world

schools of fish create streams of color

swaying to the unheard rhythms of the ocean currents.

Watching these schools I am reminded of another pearl of wisdom from Jacques
Cousteau

from birth, man carries the weight of gravity on his shoulders.

He is bolted to this earth.

But man has only to sink beneath the surface

and he is free.

The clarity of the water reveals a rainbow of colors

enhancing the variety of marine life living peacefully

in this world of beautiful silence.

awareness for our responsibility to this fragile ecosystem has grown.

A simple touch of a human hand can

set in motion a chain of destruction.

Now armed with that understanding, we are fighting

to preserve and restore what was lost.

One cannot help but be overwhelmed by a sense of harmony and peace

as you

serve as a home and refuge.

It was intentionally sunk for this purpose

and was quickly inhabited by a diverse array of marine life.

We are all at once enveloped in the underwater circus

of color and diversity

This manmade reef is the king cruiser wreck.

On May 4 1997, the king cruiser was doing its routine trek as a passenger ferry,

when it strayed several miles off course and sunk.

After hitting the anemone reef,

the 85 metre long twin hauled passenger ferry sank

and created a much needed addition of a shipwreck

for divers to explore.

The anemone reef itself is a unique dive site

with a massive limestone pentacle, soaring 30 meters from the seabed

to just one meter beneath the surface.

The site is well known for its abundance of sea anemones

that cling to every surface,

while attracting enormous schools of fish.

the multitudes of marine life is truly an all inspiring sight.

As we reach one busy intersection near the wheelhouse,

it became a scene that one can only describe as fish chaos.

1000s of fish in schools eat seeming to go in different directions.

This aquatic traffic jam surely rivals

any land base freeway congestion

This is the extremely beautiful clown triggerfish

and they live exclusively in coral reef environments.

Its unique coloration actually function as a camouflage

to ensure its ability to survive.

Seen from below, the white spots resemble the surface of the water above it.

The black spots on the yellow dorsal surface

allows it to blend into the reef

and it's brilliant yellow mouth is a deterrent

to potential predators.

There are seven species of sea turtles

and all are high on the list of endangered species.

Sea turtles returne to the same reefs

several times a year to nest

their average lifespan is around 80 years.

These magnificent creatures are almost always submerged in water.

However, they occasionally rise to the surface for quick breath of air.

The voice of the sea is seductive,

never ceasing, whispering, clearing murmuring,

inviting the soul to wander for a spell in the abyss of solitude

to lose itself in mazes of inward contemplation.

The voice of the sea speaks to the soul.

The touch of the sea is sensuous

in folding the body in its soft close embrace.
