We have clear skies and warm temperatures
here at Squaw Valley, California...

for this weekend of
World Cup ski racing.

Squaw Valley is the last
stop on the tour this season.

And we have a close
race for the downhill title.

Competitors from 15 countries will
compete today in this nonstop event,

which can be described as just
a warm-up for tomorrow's final.

Today the racers will have the opportunity
to check out this downhill course...

Right now on the course
is young Hans Steinmach.

He's a hopeful on
the Swiss team...

who was brought here especially
from the "B" team for this event.

Ralph, wait up.

Is this a great day. I get to watch
some of the best skiers in the world...

compete in the World Cup
downhill, and you get to watch me.
