All language subtitles for 13. Using Canva & Midjourney To Design a Standout Amazon KDP Ebook Cover

Hello there, everybody, and welcome back into this lecture in which we're going to go ahead and create

the book cover now for the e-book e-book cover.

We really have a wonderful title, I have to tell you that ChatGPT The Revolution that Will change the

world.

What better title for a book cover than that?

So here, if I go back, this is the book cover that I designed for my book that I just published on

Amazon and which is doing particularly fine at this moment.

And it can do better.

Of course I'm working on it.

But in order to create something like this, first of all, we need the hero for the book.

Now, when I say the hero, don't think that we need someone like Shrek or Superman to come.

I'm talking about this guy or this little robot.

This is what you call the hero.

And that's actually what's going to play a major role.

So since our book is about the ChatGPT revolution, then we need something revolutionary.

But first off, I'd like to say that an e-book cover is by far the thing that converts, and that really

is the thing that will generate the sales for you, believe it or not.

Okay, So the book cover is absolutely important, crucial, call it wherever you want to call it.

For example, look at this, the ChatGPT millionaire.

When you see it, you kind of look, oh, my goodness, the ChatGPT million, I got to get this book

right.

And so it it makes you want to get the book.

And so similarly over here, we need to do the same thing.

So the book cover is absolutely important.

And you notice that in some books here, for example, you get this book right here, who the ChatGPT

Bible.

And it really looks huge.

ChatGPT Bible, right?

It looks huge.

Now we have some other people, I believe.

I don't know, but I believe this guy is probably taking my course and he went on to create this book.

Now he's he's sponsored it, which is really good.

So I would assume he would do really well in sales.

I'm not going to sponsor it yet until I make the first 300 bucks.

Then I would just go all in.

Okay, So right now let's go and start designing this book.

So the first thing we need is we need to create a canva blank window or blank project.

So go to Canva.com, click on create a Design, click here on custom size and select the size of 1006

hundred in width and 2000 and 560 pixels.

Then click on Create a new design.

What will happen after that is that this will create a new design for you, which is the original size

for an eBook.

Now it's not the 512 by 800 pixels that Canva tells you.

It's actually just like I said here, 1600in width and 2560 in height.

Make sure that that's the correct size because otherwise you'll have problems.

So.

So now since the book is the ChatGPT revolution, we need to go up here to Discord.

And I'm going to connect with the Midjourney bot and we're going to go ahead and I'm going to start

prompting Midjourney to generate a bot for me, which is about the revolution.

Yesterday I was playing with some of the, some some of the midjourney capacities and this is actually

the thumbnail that I created for this course.

It's a little bit different from what you can see on the course, but definitely it's a thumbnail.

So since it's an AI revolution, let's go ahead and try out a design.

An AI chat bot, so I'm going to go ahead and click on Imagine.

On Mid-journey.

Imagine prompt.

And then what?

I'm going to say a genius.

Robot.

Right.

AI Chatbot.

Full body.

Full view.

Standing.

Front view.

Eyes or beam or blue beam eyes.

Intelligent.

Creative.

And hyperrealistic.

I'm going to also add 3D and I'm going to add an R of nine by 16in.

So I want the height to be 16in and the width to be nine inches.

And I'm going to click Enter.

Now, if you don't have mid-journey, you're going to have to use the images that you can find here

on Canva.

So there are a lot of images that you can find actually, if you go to elements and if you search for

AI Chat Bot.

Now, I'm pretty sure you can find a lot of AI chat bots out there.

Some of them are pro, some of them are for free, but most of them are actually pro, to be honest

with you.

Most of them are actually pro, but that's in case you don't have Mid-journey right.

But I think that if you want to be invested in working online, you're going to have to be able to spare

a couple of dollars a month, you know, and I think there is no way around that.

So there is a robot being created.

Now, since this is about the AI revolution, I think this mischievous robot on the right hand side,

the second one is the best.

And so I'm going to go with that guy.

Right.

I'm going to click on that robot and I'm going to use him.

There you go.

Now we have our mid-journey bot.

What I'm going to do is I'm going to open the link.

And we're going to go ahead and download this guy.

So download the image as and then go up here to the list of downloads.

Just download it as is.

If you want to change the name, you can change the name.

I don't need to because I'm just going to upload the GUI.

Now we'll upload this particular robot by clicking on upload.

There you go.

Put the GUI in there.

Now we have a robot.

The thing here is I'm going to apply the colors to the page.

I like these colors, but on one on one hand we have to remove the background because there is a background

behind the robot.

So let me go ahead and click on edit the image.

I really hope that Canva are going to synchronize with Mid-journey and much like Dall-e, the the Outpainting

feature of Dali, I hope that they enable us to basically create a background or use this background

to create a background similar to it for the entire cover or for the entire image.

I hope that they are able able of doing that or that they get able of doing that in the future.

Now a funny break here.

This is me in the Anubis outfit.

It really sucks.

It's just a funny break out there.

But I just was playing around with Anubis yesterday and so here I'm going to go and click edit the image.

Without further ado, click background removal.

Now of course you can use remove.bg.

This website will enable you to remove the background for free.

If you don't have the Canva Pro subscription, all you have to do is to upload an image.

And I also think that you can remove the background off of gifts as well.

I'm not sure, but give it a try.

Now the image was removed or the background was removed from the image.

I can apply the changes and now we can start the interesting stuff.

So the robot, as far as I can see, he's taking way too much of the size of the book and we just need

them to be quite small.

So I'm just going to put him like this.

I'm just going to little bit add a little bit to his size, just a little bit up until the center.

I think it's fine, right?

So this is the perfect way to position him and take he should take the half bottom part and not this

side.

Not this side.

It should be in the middle half, bottom of the of the book.

That's exactly where I want him to be.

Now, here, if I go back to the book, you notice that at the bottom I have added my brand.

So what I'm going to do here, I'm going to do the same thing.

I'm going to go to elements and look for shape.

And then right here, if I go to all, there are a lot of shape graphics this one will do.

If you click it, it will be added and you can actually tailor it to your measurements.

So I'm going to reduce it.

And zoom in to be able to select it properly and then zoom out.

Scroll down and take it from here.

And I'll place it right under the legs of the robot as if he is standing on it.

Now his feet still need to appear, which is why I'm going to use some dexterity here.

So I'm going to zoom in.

Quite some more.

And I'm just going to slightly move this down.

Right.

So there you go.

Now, this is perfect.

Let me just add a little bit more.

Now, as far as the color here, I have added that particular color.

Now here I can probably add a more of a white color, white ish.

Okay.

There you go.

Now I'm going to click and go here and lock.

And what I will do is I will add passive income Gen Z, the name of my brand.

Now, to do this, I'm going to go over here to text.

I'm going to click a heading.

A heading was added.

I can actually select that heading.

Right now the it's not perfectly well.

Okay.

So.

Let's make it bigger.

Right.

So if I just select it from here, I can move it.

Now the color needs to be something else but white.

Otherwise the heading won't appear.

Now that we can see it, we can go and add more to it.

So I'm just going to go for 61st.

And then go ahead and give this the name Passive income Gen Z.

And what I will do, I will place it in the middle like this.

I think this is particularly good.

Let me zoom out and have a look.

Right.

It's going well, except for, you know, what I think is changing this colour to the colour of the

background itself.

Or trying this white colour.

The blue color.

I'm sorry.

Let's try a more bluish color.

This one to me Will do.

There you go.

Now, what I will do is I will go and get the logo from the uploads.

The logo of my brand logo.

And then I'll click on that logo.

Make it smaller.

Go to the top.

Make it smaller.

Some more.

And keep scrolling down.

Make it smaller.

Some more.

Even more.

Even more.

And then I'll place it here.

And I'll ensure that it's small enough to be contained within the shape.

So if I zoom.

You can see over here, this is how it works.

I can crop from this side.

I can crop from the top.

And we could put it like this in the middle.

Now you can give it an extra touch of making making it bigger.

That is not bad.

And you can see that this is pretty cool.

So I'm going to zoom out and I have a formula here.

I have to put this in here.

So if I zoom out some more, zoom out some more, I'm going to have to contain this within.

Right doesn't move.

Right.

I have to zoom in to be able to move it.

Right.

I believe this is perfect.

You see that line?

It should be juxtaposed with it.

So here, I believe I can edit the image to add a little bit more contrast and a little bit more saturation,

take away a little bit more of the brightness.

And I believe that's perfect.

So now we can move on to the rest.

Now, as far as the color here of the shape, let me unlock it first.

I think that the white color is not really the most perfect color.

Otherwise I'll go for the grayish.

So a little bit grayish.

And now we can lock it again.

So what I will do actually, I will lock everything.

The robot, the shape, everything.

But first off, before locking everything, going to click on my robot, go and edit the image.

And here what I will do is I will not add the contrast yet, but I will go to the glowing effects.

And we need to add some glowing effects.

And this glowing effect, I think the white glow would be perfect.

Now over here, let's increase the size of the glow.

Let's decrease or increase the transparency.

Decrease the blur.

Actually here.

Let's just increase the transparency.

There you go.

And I think this is pretty good if we try the blue one.

It's good, but it's not as good.

Let's try the red one.

Let me look out here.

I think the red one is catchier.

The red one is even catchier because we're talking about an AI revolution.

And so when people see this, it's going to really catch up.

You know, they're going to say, Wow, look at that robot.

It looks like the Terminator, the mini Terminator.

So the changes were applied.

I hope that when I add contrast, that changes are not lost.

Let me also add some some saturation.

And I believe now I can lock my image as well.

I'm going to go and lock all of the other elements, lock them actually before locking them.

I'm going to group them then.

I'm going to lock them.

So there are now a group.

They can be locked as a group except for the robot, which is alone.

So now the interesting part is the top.

But first off, we need a background image, a hero background image.

So what I'm going to do, I'm going to go back to Mid-journey.

I'm going to say imagine.

Prompt.

And I'm going to go over here to Google and guess what I'm going to do?

I'm going to go and say from pixels.

To.

Inches or two?

Yeah, inches.

So here if we go.

And these are pixels or image conversion.

Let's just convert pixels to inches.

This is the one.

So from 1006 hundred is actually 16in 16.66.

I'll just say it's 17 and for the 2000 and 560.

It's actually 27, so 17 by 27.

That's the correct size that we want for the image.

And what I will say, I will say I.

Background I.

Background with no robots in the back.

Energetic.

Hyper realistic electric.

Blue electricity.

And great.

Power and I'm going to add an R of.

Actually here 17 which is now 17 should be the the width.

And as far as the height, it should be 27.

Now, normally it's not exactly 17.

By 27, it's 16.66 by 26.66.

But I believe this size is good.

Now, the reason why you want to get it in the correct size is because when you create the image, when

you upload it to Canva, because this particular book right here, the cover, the size of the cover

is is actually 16.66 by 26 or 20 5.6 or 26.66.

So you have to be extra careful about the measurements.

So here it is actually generating a background for us.

Now, there are some scary images that are coming up.

I don't know exactly what's going to come up here, but definitely I'm not going to be going with the

first and the second and the fourth.

I'm most likely going to be going with the third.

Let's hope they do not have a ghost in there.

But you can see that Mid-journey is quite cool at generating some good images.

I think, quite honestly that the third image is going to do quite well, especially with the color

of the book, because here we colored this dark.

And so let's go back to Mid-journey.

Right.

So 93%.

All right.

There you go.

Now we have our third.

Image.

The other ones are not so bad, but I'm going to be going with the third, so I'm going to upscale the

third.

And then I'm going to use it so the upscale doesn't take that long.

There you go.

Let me click this.

And open link.

Download.

It's in the exact correct size that I want it to be in.

Download the image and then go back here.

Now, once you go back to Canva, you can upload the image which we now created and we're going to use

it as an extra layer in the background.

Of course, we're not going to use the entire transparency of the image.

I'll show you how.

Now don't set it up as a background image, because if you do, you will lose this coloration.

On the other hand, just make it bigger, spread it across, and you can see how easily it's spread

across.

And that's because of the size that we created using Midjourney.

So we were very precise on the size.

That's why everything came out really cool.

Now, as far as the position, click on the image and position it backward.

Backward.

And there you go.

So now edit the transparency of the image decrease its intensity to maybe 35.

And now if you have a look at this, really like it looks like doomsday, you know, Now if I go back.

It doesn't look so bad.

Okay, so maybe the robot should be moved a little bit to the top.

And that's what I'm going to do here.

I'm going to click up, up, up, up, up a little bit more.

There you go.

Sounded scary.

Sounded like he was levitating.

Here, let me click this image.

Lock it.

And now we are ready to put on some text.

Now, as far as the text is concerned, because the title is here, ChatGPT The Revolution Will, first

of all, we need to start with ChatGPT.

So let me go over here to the text, select this and inside of it or select chat.

Right, Chat.

Now here we need to change this bangor's font because it's not really cool.

Let's try bold.

Let's try to spread things out.

I really have no issue with Mount Bold except for I don't think it's the most easily readable font.

Let's try archival Black.

Archival Black is more like it.

Let's try Helvetica.

Helvetica School.

So I think I'm going to be going with Helvetica and I'm going to be reducing this a little bit because

the formula is you want it to fit inside of this rectangle, you see.

So you want it to make sure that you fit it.

Over here we can do with a little bit of less space.

Let me zoom here.

I don't know why that there's that space.

But if I do like this, I believe we can fix that.

So let me see here how far we can make this bigger.

So if I make it a little bit bigger, a little more, a little more, yeah, it still fits.

And I will put this at the top.

Exactly.

In the borders or on the borders of that.

Those lines.

There you go.

Now, I will keep it using the exact same effects and I will make it bold.

And as far as the color, I will change the color to red.

Let's try the red color.

Let's try the white color.

Now, in the effects there is the intensity element which can be reduced.

And also if you don't like this effect, you can choose this effect right here, which is also not bad,

made it look entirely different.

And if you add more intensity, it can be even better.

So probably I'll just go with this effect right here.

But you can go with the lighting effect if you wanted to.

So ChatGPT.

Now we've added the first part.

The second part are the revolution that will change the world.

So under ChatGPT, I'm going to go and duplicate this.

And here I should say the revolution.

Except for the font needs to be smaller than the other, so I'm going to slightly make it smaller.

And I think that the revolution should fit in one line.

Just like this.

ChatGPT should be the biggest.

And then the revolution.

Now 132.

That's good.

But let me just make it 130.

There you go.

It's perfectly centered and we can remove it or move it down a little bit.

Now, as far as the color of the revolution, you can change the color to something else.

I can change it to the red color to kind of match with this.

You can remove the bald effect, but I'll just keep it.

And then let's go back to our file now over here.

That will change the world, the revolution that will change the world.

I think that this this particular book would really do well as a as a fiction book.

If you're if you want to write a fiction book, by the way, there's a course coming up which will teach

you how to write a fiction book or or whatever.

You can also use it to write a romance novel if you want to.

So I'm going to duplicate.

And here I'm just going to say the last part, which is the revolution that will change the world.

And this one should be definitely smaller.

That will change.

The world.

This should be big.

And of course, we need to go now for the coloring to get it back to the white color.

Actually, I don't think the white color is good at all.

So let me try.

Let's try this blue color here as well.

Okay, so let's just get back to the white color.

Now let's remove the bold effects.

And also let's start reducing the font, the size that will change the world.

I believe that's perfect.

Now here you can see that we're cramped for space.

So I'm going to click the spacing, add a little bit more space that will change the world.

And now everything looks particularly fine as far as the distance between all of the all of the the

texts, it should be 28 here to be uniform.

Now, this, on the other hand, I'm thinking of giving it the neon effect.

But then again.

I don't think it's going to look that cool.

The revolution that will change the world.

Right.

So I'm just going to go back to the previous element.

There you go.

So now I think I'm going to move this stuff a little bit down.

And now I'm going to select all of this text and of course, group it and zoom a little bit more and

move it down slightly.

Now it's still in the middle.

I got to make sure of that.

I got to make sure that it gets closer to to the top of the head of the bot.

Now I'm thinking about adding something here on the at the top.

But what I will do, I will go and find some lightning.

Red lightning.

Now the red lightning.

I'm going to put it in the G.

I think this one will do just fine.

So I'll take that and I'll put it right here.

And of course, I'm going to zoom out.

Make it more a little bit more big.

By the way, we can make this even more intense.

If I click on edit the image, I can scroll down, add a little bit more of contrast, more saturation,

more light or less light.

And you can see that that's doing the job.

Now I'm going to click on position backward and backward.

And I think it's not so bad if I click forward.

I think this is better.

Okay.

Now the only thing I'm afraid of is are people going to be able to still read the sentences properly?

Which is why I'm probably just going to click.

And the position this in the backward position to make sure that the others other elements are readable.

Now, the issue here, let me ungroup this will no longer be as easily readable.

So I'm going to go to Effects and give it the neon treatment.

And give it more intensity.

And it also flows well with the color of the red lightning.

So ChatGPT, the lightning, everything is rhyming just fine.

I believe this is a perfect cover.

Okay, so the cover is good.

Except for here, I'm probably going to change the color of that shape to the white color.

There you go.

This makes more sense.

All right.

So now we are ready to go ahead and import our book cover and use it.

Overall, I think this is a pretty good book cover that will not only get you the eyeballs, but definitely

get you some sales.

with the canva free version you can only make it 80.

In terms of the quality.

So I'm going to download this magnificently looking book cover.

In Jpeg.

And this is it.

hardcover, and also I'm going to show you how to format your book for those two versions of the book.
