is to protect the suspects
against police misconduct.

but the spirit of it

By the time
you got through with her,

help herself by talking.

It doesn't make sense

read somebody her rights
so she'll understand,

only then to deliberately

with a constitutional wink.

It would seem
that the players in our system

should at least act
in good faith.

I'm bound by precedent.

And trickery still survives
