we've decided to leave the race,
Bill and Bon.

At short notice,

race leaders Billy and Bonny
had to make a difficult decision.

Unfortunately, we've had a
family emergency back in the UK

and so me and Bonny decided to
leave the race before the last leg.

We're obviously gutted.

We felt like we were
growing into the race.

We've had, like,
some real lifelong memories.

We got together and it's sad
to be leaving the race, but,

you know, family comes first.

It's a shame, but I think
it's for the best.

Oh, they've gone.

That was the right thing to do.

It was, yeah. They made the right
decision, you know?

Billy and Bonny's withdrawal
leaves three teams in the race,

separated by just
a few hours,

with Alex and Noel in pole position
for the first time.

Tromso, the finishing line.

I suppose the race is back on.

Ready for the final burst, Mum?
Yes. Yeah, all ready to go.

This is a lot of distance
we have to travel.

I think this is the biggest
distance on this race.

This is the final push.

And we're saving our best
for the last.

Oh, yeah. We ain't come first yet,

Having covered over
7,500 kilometres so far,

over 2,000 kilometres still stand

between the teams
and the finish line in Tromso.

This will be their longest
and potentially toughest leg yet.

As temperatures plummet,
prices rise.

With dwindling budgets,

one mistake could be the difference
between first and last place.

Is it cheaper this way?

Our budget, I think is OK,
but I still think we have to play it

a little bit safe.

To win, the teams could take the
direct route through Scandinavia,

through snow laden Sweden
and the fjords of Norway,

where public transport is amongst
the most expensive in Europe.

Or they could venture east via
the cheaper Baltic states,

passing through five countries
before heading north

through the Finnish forests.

I think from Berlin, a good route

could be travelling through Sweden,

into Norway. Straight to Stockholm?
Yes.

You hear so much about
the magic of Lapland.

But, you know, when we were kids,
we couldn't afford to go there.

It was just too expensive. Yeah.

But even as an adult,
I'd still love to go to Lapland.

You know, I'd love to see it.

Come on, grow up.

once you've taken me to Lapland.

to get them to the finish line.

In order to get to Tromso, we are
going to have to be very careful

with the budget, but to get
across the line is going to be

the best feeling ever.

There's not a lot of time
between any of the teams now.

Everyone is right on our tails.

And that could mean people
make mistakes.

I am very competitive

and we're both very mentally strong.

We've got a lot of fight in us.

We're going to put our minds to it.

Leaving the checkpoint an hour
and a half behind Alex and Noel...

Norway is one of the most
expensive places, I think,

in the world, to travel.

The cheaper option is to go
via the Baltic States and up.

...Mel and Helene, with only 15%
of their budget remaining,

the least of all the teams.

Our dilemma is our budget.

We wanted to do Norway so badly.

That was our dream from the
beginning, but now I'm not sure

if we can do it.

Honestly, I'm going to do something
that I've never done before and say,

I think we need to go
the cheaper option

and go a bit around the houses.

The route east through the Baltic
states is more budget friendly,

but they will have to pass through
at least five different countries

to reach the finish line.

Let's pack this up and start
finding how much things are.

Will we just go to the bus station?
Do we get a cab there or...?

Definitely not.

No cabs ever again.

I'm not really someone
that gives up.

I will stick it out,
however awful it is,

because I feel for me,
giving up is losing.

how to get to Sweden.

With only 19% of their budget left,

Germany's gateway to Scandinavia,

in search of fast transport links.

Be amazing to get
to Stockholm tomorrow.

I don't know if it's possible.

We need a fast start.

We need to try and catch up

so we're going to be quick
out of the blocks.

But we've already spent 177 euros
just getting to Hamburg,

which isn't that far.

This is two hours, yes?

I know. Bloody expensive.

But still, Harry, we've got
under way, which is how we like.

We've made a good start,

It's going to be touch-and-go
with the money.

For some reason, I have a feeling
the further north we go,

it seems to get more expensive,

and I haven't
got a contingency budget

for something going wrong.

We could be stranded only miles
from Tromso and run out of budget,

which would be entirely my fault.

We're heading to see
if there's another train

in the direction of Stockholm.

Here, Mum, to go to Copenhagen,

just keep heading

That would take us down to 500
and we'd only be in Copenhagen.

and we're running through our budget

very quickly, so we're looking

which, if we were getting trains,

Originally I was put off Oslo
cos I heard about Norway

being very expensive.

But, you know, you never know what's
going to happen on your journey

and you've got to be flexible.

For less than the train
to Copenhagen,

the bus will take them
almost three times as far.

to bed in your tour bus?

We drive the tour bus to hotels.

Harry and Emma's last minute
change of plan

means all three teams are now
travelling by overnight bus

to three different capital cities.

Upon arrival, they must all
cover similar distances

to make it to the
finish line in Tromso.

We've been on the bus
for, like, nearly ten hours

and we've got another...

eight or so hours to go.

Scandinavia is huge.

We really wanted to do Norway
properly

and it's a bummer
that we haven't been able to.

The budget has totally dictated
how we do this last leg,

which is a shame.

This could be the legacy of
some expensive taxis in the race.

The fact that each train and bus
has been, like, around 200 Euros

is making me a bit nervous.

The capital of Sweden

and the largest of all
the Nordic cities,

where the eco minded Swedes
enjoy an abundance of clean air

and picturesque waterways,

sprawling over 14 islands,

Stockholm is known as the
Venice of the North.

The distance we travelled
was very expensive.

And so as long as we do some work
to recoup some of the outlay,

we will be all right.

To ensure they have enough money
for onward transport...

Were you hesitant at all when I said

But then I remember something
happened and I thought,

As moments go in my life,

the whole Good Morning Britain,

Meghan Markle fallout was
definitely a shock to the system.

To you find yourself in the
centre of a media storm...

...it was crazy.

Absolutely crazy.

You suddenly become subjected to

lots of opinion from social media

and you either fold or you stand up.

You have to grow a thick skin
very quickly.

It knocked me a little bit.

I nearly got you there.

I was literally about to go
like that

and you would have got it
right in the face.

Definitely feel stronger
having gone through it.

When I look back on it now,

thank God for good family
and friends because actually,

it's those people
that get you through.

by the race, and anything

that's been happening in the
outside world is so far away.

And, you know, that's probably
a good thing.

off of work before, you know.

The race has
challenged my routine.

I definitely think
I've become more open-minded.

bound for a ferry to Finland...

This has been our longest
bus journey so far, hasn't it?

in the last 24 hours.

have arrived in Oslo.

The first team to make it
to the final country of the race.

First step on Norway.

A country defined by deep fjords,

thick forests and icy glaciers,

almost 70% is uninhabitable.

With a coastline over twice
the length of the equator,

unsurprisingly, Norway
is the second largest exporter

of seafood in the world.

I've been wanting to come here
for so long.

I've always wanted to see
the fjords.

But it just hasn't quite happened,

as a lot of things in life
just don't quite happen.

So let's see if this happens
for this trip.

So, Mum, there's no rest today,
I'm afraid.

We've got six hours
till the train leaves,

so we want to go do some work,
to top up our budget.

I think we are absolutely mad

to work after a 24-hour
non-sleeping period.

I'm quite jealous of the beds
that are in the front of the train.

Alex and Noel are sitting on a train
to the north of Sweden.

Out the window is a
Christmas wonderland.

The train journey,
which is about 19 hours,

I found really dragging
and uncomfortable.

But we woke up this morning and...

this was out the window.

Also nearing their destination...

I woke up at 6.30.

Are we having a coffee first?

...the costly overnight cabin means

Mel and Helene look
for fresh sacrifices.

Can our budget allow us to have
a coffee or should we share one?

It's getting tighter and tighter
by the minute.

And this is why I'm thinking
the budget has been dwindling,

because every last minute, we go,
"Oh, let's just do that!"

And I think in life, that happens
quite a lot as well.

On the mouth of the River Oulu

lies a city where
the summer sun never sets

and the sea freezes in winter.

One of the most densely forested
countries in Europe,

huskies are still one of the best
ways to traverse the terrain.

She is the alpha female of this
whole pack, a really tough lady.

She's the alpha dog of our family!

desperately needed cash
cleaning kennels.

One of over 1,000 in Norway.

These narrow bodies of deep water
are warmed by the currents

of the Gulf Stream, creating rich
and abundant fishing grounds.

We've done two nights in a row,
one on a bus, one on a train.

I'm absolutely knackered.

So it made sense to stop off,
get a good night's sleep,

because we don't have to spend money
on food or a hotel,

and head off to Tromso tomorrow.

With every penny counting
in the final straight,

Harry and Emma are helping
to land the day's catch

in exchange for food and board.
