This is the place where you can take

balls across a sloped table to land

them in their matching

Gender Minorities Aotearoa,

an amazing charity run by trans
people for trans people, including
non-binary, intersex andtakatapui.

Being part of the queer community,
in the past, I've faced a little bit
of discrimination,

but I'm really lucky that I'm able
to be who I am, and we've come so
far as a nation now.

But there are still trans people
who are being discriminated against,

and I think that their community
needs some love, so...

This is awesome.

- You will now all be
playing for yourself.

- I am so excited, but I'm
also, like, super nervous.

We're gonna have to, like,
decide how to manage our alliance.

I don't know how it's gonna,
like, affect the dynamic.

- All right, for this challenge,
you will start off in your teams,

but it's up to
you whether you want to attack
the course as a team or alone.

Both teams will start by solving
a puzzle to spell a specific phrase.

Once the puzzle is complete, you will
work your way up and over a wall.

The next obstacle
you must face is the rope swing.

Then you must collect your
individual ball and stick and make
your way through the obstaclecourse.

If at any point you drop your ball,
you must go back and start again.

Once you are at the end
of the obstacle course,

you will roll your ball down
the chute, releasing your totem.

First person to release
their totem wins.

The winner will choose who faces off
in today's elimination battle.

- I wanna take this one. I wanna get
my ball in that slot, and I wanna be
the merge king.

- The first individual reward.

Quick question ― who here likes
to be touched by random strangers?

Cos, guys, I've organised a massage.

but we're one still. The actual
focus is for our team member to
be the one who gets there,

and we're gonna
look after each other.

- ELI: And as Matt and I

- And it's really weird, because no
one has got to speak to them before
today's elimination.

So we have no idea what's happening.

- COURTNEY: Look at them ―
so relaxed.
- JAYDEN: Very fresh.

- ELI: I see them all come from
their massage, and they're not
looking that relaxed.

Laura's just giving me some hard
eye contact. There's no smiles,

there's nothing, and it just feels
like something's in the water.

- Nick sits down right next to me,
and he looks me in the eye, and I
know. Straight away, Iknow.

- Welcome back to elimination.
Whoever loses this battle will be
asked to leave the game immediately,

missing out on the $100,000
grand prize for their charity.

Before the battle begins,
let's find out who's going up.

Nick, come on up.

- I'm just preparing myself for,
you know― for what's to come.

- Nick, first time up here. You're
no longer picking one person from
each team; it's now a free-for-all.

- Yeah.
- Has that factored into
your decision at all?

- Yeah, one of the hardest things

an honourable moment, because I

and you're also both a threat.

from the strategy and what I need to

- Matt, this morning you and Eli woke
up as teammates; now you're fighting
off against him.

How are you feeling?
- This is gonna be fun,
let's be honest.

get on really well? How's it gonna
feel going up against him today?

- Yeah, it's been hard seeing him
on the other team most of the time,

and then these last two days
have been a riot, so I'm sad
that's coming to a close.

But, look, had a battle before,
and I'm excited for the rebirth.
(CHUCKLES)

Inside, I immediately feel so
deflated, because I've fought
so hard;

I've gotten to the merge,
and this could be it.

- Here's how it's gonna work.

You will both start with
a cube puzzle which holds
the key to the large crate.

Once you have unlocked your cube
puzzle, you'll use the key to open
the crate full of puzzle pieces.

You will then slot those puzzle
pieces on to the beams in order
to solve the puzzle.

First person to correctly solve
the puzzle wins. Loser ― going home.

Matt, Eli,

take your marks.

- Thanks, man.
(APPLAUSE)

- BLAIR: Go well, Eli.

- Good luck, boys.

- All right, Eli, remind
everyone who you're playing for.

- The Burnett Foundation.

Neither of them had
much luck in the puzzles today.
Can they redeem themselves here?

- I've done puzzles before;
I can them well.

But I'm a little nervous
about this little cube.

I am foreseeing a potential future
where Matt is finishing his puzzle,

and I am still working on
this little cube.

- Neither of them had much luck in

- The main thought running through
my mind is just get past this first
block.

Like, if I can't find my key,
and I'm standing there like we were
with the word puzzle all afternoon,

not even beginning the challenge, I
just would not be able to live with
myself.

Sliding around, trying to figure
this thing out, and then...

- Matt thinks he's found something.

He has. He's got his key.
He's moving on.

- Good stuff, Matty.
Good stuff, Eli.

(TENSE MUSIC)

- I'm feeling very raw and very,
uh...

guilty that I didn't...

keep Eli safe.

- Matt first to get
to his puzzle pieces.

- Aargh!

- Thankfully. I just take a breath.
I find one of the pieces slides,

and then bing, bang, bong, there's
a cute little drawer inside.

- Eli not far behind.

- A little surge of adrenaline.

And it's just trying to maintain
a sense of calm, trying to
methodically look at the blocks,

try to figure out,
see if I can see a pattern already.

- There's just so many pieces.

I guess I haven't been going
to the gym, but today I did.
I went to puzzle gym.

- On to the poles.

Both players putting
their second piece on.

If they're wrong, they're gonna have
to take them off, do them again.

- JAMES: You got this, lads.

- Eli has three layers to the puzzle;
Matt still with two.

- LAURA: Honestly, I can't watch.

I'm just a blubbering mess.

- Eli moving quick,
trying out different blocks.

- The hardest part about the
puzzle was that the pieces
are different sizes.

Some of the pieces are skinny little
birdies, and some of the pieces are
wide-daddies,

and some of the pieces
are just medium honeys.

- Matt still struggling
on that third layer.

- I'm seeing Eli; he's
getting ahead of me. He seems
to be building up quite high.

That just ups the ante,
ups the pressure.

- Eli steps back. As we've seen in
previous eliminations, everything
can change just like that.

- Isn't this fun, Matt (?)
(LAUGHTER)

- Eli thinks he's
figured something out.

Matt starting again.

- Looking at Eli, I'm trying not
to let his progress affect me.

I've seen
so many of these challenges just
change right at the last minute.

You think someone's won it,
something happens, and all of
a sudden, it flips on its head.

So I'm trying to methodically just
find the right piece at the right
time.

- Has he got the puzzle right?

You locking that one in, Eli?
- Yeah.

- Incorrect. Keep going.

- (GROANS)

- NICK: Shot, Matty.
Shot, Eli. Shot boys.
- Take your time, guys.

- So that just gives me more
focus just to concentrate on
what I'm doing.

- Eli knows that it's wrong,
but he doesn't know what was wrong.

Eli getting those blocks up quickly.
Has he got it right this time?

- Oh my gosh.

- JAMES: You got this, lads.
- Keep going, boys. Keep going.
Keep going.

- Eli thinks he has it again.

Incorrect.

- I just can't watch this.

- And it's only then that my mind
clicks in, and then, for the third
time,

I completely dismantle
the puzzle piece by piece.

- MATT: As great as he's been doing,
he'd been getting it wrong.

It's giving me a chance.
He's opened the door.

Feeling like I'm on a little bit
of a tiny little bit of a roll.

(TENSE MUSIC)

- Eli hoping he's got it
right this time.

Eli thinks he has it.

- Puzzle king's finished.

- Not quite.

- LAURA: Oh my Lord.

I don't know where
Eli has gone wrong.

- COURTNEY: You can do it, Eli.

- Back to square one again. He's
given me a few chances in this game,

so, you know, he's really
trying to let me back in.

- TURIA: Keep going, Gibbo.

Take a breath, Matty.

- Eli puffing. Been moving
those blocks back and forth.

- The left-hand side of
my puzzle from where I'm
looking at it is working.

And I can see where I need to go.

- Eli going straight back to the
poles ― thinks he knows where he
went wrong.

- Let's go, Matty.

- Eli exhausting himself
bringing up all these blocks.

Just got one more to place;
will it be right?

- This time, please.

Yeah.

- Eli completes the puzzle.

- Thank God!

- I feel relief,
and I'm really stoked, but I feel
really sad that Matt is leaving.

- Matt going home.

- JAMES: Well done, boys.
- Oh my gosh.

So sweaty.

- You nailed that, brother.
- Thanks.

- You don't wanna go home,
you don't want it to be over,
but, you know, time's up.

- Matt, unfortunately, it didn't go
your way today, but you have been a
tough competitor in this game.
