but that's not such a bad idea.

- You know, what you need
is a little vacation.

get away this Saturday?

- I should be able to.

I've worked for the
last two weekends.

- Well, some of the guys
are going up skiing.

We just wondered if you
wanted to come along.

- Yeah, that sounds good.

We'll probably meet at
our house about 8:30.

If Mr. Kelley wants

date with Judge Willoughby

can't very well break that.

working every weekend.

- Well, I don't mind
working when it's necessary.

I just don't think that this
thing is that important.

I'd sure love to go skiing.

- Well, it won't hurt to try.

He's finished with his call.

- Do we have copies of these?

- These hamburgers are
getting thinner all the time.

- Well, it's about Saturday.

I didn't think we'd be working,
and so I made some plans.

- Oh?

Well, is it something important?

Some of the fellows are
going up skiing this weekend

and I was going to go with them.

- Well, gee, I don't know, Dave.

- I realize there's a
lot of work to be done,

but I worked last Saturday
and the Saturday before that.

- Well, we all did.

I just thought I'd like
to get off if possible.

- That's a job
application from a guy who

just graduated from law school.

We get a lot of those.

- Well, I could work tonight
and get most of it done.

Sure you've had
your breakfast now?

- Yeah, thanks.

How are the skis?

- Oh, OK.

- You haven't used them in
quite a while, have you?

- No, I haven't.

- Is something wrong?

You don't seem to enthused
about this whole thing.

- Well, I guess maybe I
feel guilty about going,

and Mr. Kelley and Miss Edwards
are working at the office

today.

- You mean you're sort
of ducking out on them?

- No, he told me I could go.

- Well then, what are
you worrying about?

- Well, first he
wanted me to work

and then he said it
was OK for me to go.

It was just kind of
the way he said it.

- Oh, well, you
probably imagined it.

It's like your mother
just a little while ago.

She wanted me to mow the lawn.

The lawn just had to
be mowed this morning.

Then when I told her I
was going to play golf,

she said, "Well, OK."

Actually, it didn't make
that much difference to her.

It's probably the
same with Mr. Kelley.

- Well, I hope you're right.

- Wait a second.
What do you think you're doing?

- Well, I've got a lot
of housework to do,

so I thought I'd mow the
lawn first and get that out

of the way.

- Oh.

Well, while you're at it,
why don't you trim the hedge?

- Yeah?

down to the office.

I was practically thrown out.

and he insisted I take it.

I have a hunch he just
wanted me out of the office

so he could interview
this new lawyer.

- What new lawyer?

- Some guy just
out of law school.

application for a job.

to any hasty conclusions.

office for quite a while now.

I'm sure he wouldn't

- Without hiring somebody
else to take my place?

- I mean without discussing
it with you first.

- Well, hi, Dave.

down to the office.

- Well, I did go down
there for a little while.

- I was just talking
to Junie on the phone.

She's gone downtown shopping.

- That figures, I guess.

- What do you mean?

- Here I am practically
fired and my wife's

out spending money.

- Practically fired?

- Well, it's not definite,
but things don't look

too good over at the office.

- You mean you're
going to lose your job?

- Of course, he isn't.

He hasn't even gotten
his two weeks notice yet.

- What's this about, Dave?

- Well, when I got
back to the office,

Mr. Kelley had an appointment to
interview some guy for my job.

- Oh, you're kidding.

- Well, it's not definite
that it was for your job,

is it, Dave?

- Oh, not absolutely, but
it sure looked like it.

You know, this
might be a good time

to follow Rick's suggestion.

- What was that?

- Open up my own office.

- Well, don't you think you
need a little more experience

before you tackle anything
as important as that?

- You know, come to think of
it, it is quite a gamble, Dave.

- I know that, but sometimes you
can spend your whole life just

thinking things over.

You've got to be willing
to take a few chances.

- Well, whatever you do,
we're behind you 100%.

- Dave, before you make
any hasty decisions,

why don't you go
back to the office

and see if you can find out
for sure just what's going on?

- Yeah, that's an idea.
