All language subtitles for 4. How I Use J-Cuts To Make Awesome Vlogs

Hi everybody welcome back.

It is bright again for Bradley to dot Tevi or to share with you how to do Jay cuts and cuts in your

own blogs to make them sound a little bit better a little bit more polished a little bit more professional.

And you know if you've watched any of my blogs you'll know what I'm talking about now after I explain

what I'm doing.

But on your screen right now I'll just show you what it is as opposed to just explaining the theory

and then I'll show you how to do it.

And then you can go away and do it yourself.

So as you can see on your screen right all we're focused on is this little piece of the log here that

I've created in operate like it's my blog.

So music I mean using a real example.

And what we have is a background music track right here.

And I've got me talking on this track here.

And then I got the video component.

If I just stretch that out on this track him and I've got video clips all lined up as you can see.

And then I got the audio of this clip here.

All right.

So what I'll do is I'll play it and I'll explain what's going on.

So here we go.

So we got Bakra music which is slowly coming in in the background.

And then we go to the next clip

cut.

Listen now Cordier I can't see right there.

I want to point this out.

You can hear me talk but you're still seeing the dashboard on the screen.

So you're not actually seeing my face yet.

Now you see my face.

So that's an example of a cut.

And if I show you that visually you'll see here that the audio and the video is kind of looks like a

J kind of a shape.

So that's what they're referring to as being a cup and an L cut is just the reverse where you're seeing

the video first before the audio.

So I'm really just showing you an icon in this case.

So again

now it's a lot nicer to have a J and L cut in your flogs than just to have a straight cut.

But sometimes I just continue to use straight cuts and that's completely ok.

Just depends on how you're trying to tell the story.

And it's really up to your imagination.

So in terms of how you do that in your own logs I will go to the clips that I've included with this

course right.

The two GoPro clips and I'll show you how to do it and I'll break it down for you.

So zoom in with two clips here and they're both next to each other and I'll play them back.

OK.

So I'll play it back from this point.

The Philippines.

OK.

And then I cut to the waterfall.

So I'm talking A-Y blah blah blah and then bang.

I cut to the waterfall but how we can make this a much more seamless transition is by using a up what

you do is you press the End key on your keyboard and it changes the cursor to the rolling edit tool.

If you have a look over here it says rolling out a tool in brackets and you just click on that where

you press the End key.

It doesn't really matter.

And all we're doing is we're manipulating the video track right between these two clips releasing the

audio tracks alone for now.

And we're just going straight to the video track itself.

You hold the alt of the option down and then you just drag that line left.

All right.

Play around with it and I'll show you where and I'll show you what happens if I drag it to the left

side you can see what we've done is we've got a playback.

It's a lot easier.

I can't say you can say there I'm talking but you're saying now you're saying that the video of the

next clip and but you're still hearing me talk again.

So that is what we're achieving with a J Cup.

OK.

And then if you roll that back the other way and just remember to hold down the old till the option

key we roll back the other way.

That

so what with what we're hearing is the waterfall first before you actually seeing the source of the

waterfall.

Right.

That's pretty much it guys.

So just play around with that and then eventually you'll be able to just put in some background music

and you know be able to make the cuts and all you really need to do is just kind of overlap it by like

you know five or 10 seconds.

So in this case here let's play this back.

Now what I can do is I can just extend that right out.

I'll show you.

That's a little crazy with this.

I'm talking.

I'm talking I'm talking.

So as you can tell it's like a little bit too long or hard.

You're like I'm doing all the talking but you still sing the dashboard for like 20 15 seconds.

So it's a little bit too long.

So you play around with it and you'll find the sweet spot of around an overlap of around five or ten

five seconds or so.

Right.

Generally works pretty good.

People kind of expect that there's going to be a visual change when they hear that audio and that's

it guys.
