All language subtitles for 24. My Favourite Keyboard Shortcuts (for fast editing!)

I get a welcome back it is Bradish going from brand new to dot tv.

I am going to show you some of my favorite keyboard shortcuts to make your editing superfast because

editing inside the software can take hours and hours and hours and hours of time.

And because I've done hundreds of these videos and you know for the first four months I was doing a

daily video.

I had to figure out the fastest possible way to edit my videos without losing too much quality.

Right.

So what I'm going to share with you some of my favorite tips and keyboard shortcuts.

And you can use these if you like but it's going to save you so much time.

All right.

Let's have a look at our project.

We've got some clips and I'm going to try these two GoPro clips onto my timeline as we've been doing

now for the last few years.

And first thing I want to show you is how to navigate this sequence window right here.

So if I'm moving around inside my eye or just really moving around inside my sequence like this then

I've already talked about how you can zoom in and out by using this bot in the bottom here.

And I mentioned I absolutely hate this with a passion this is stupid.

I never use it.

It's just dumb.

The first wave of zooming in and zooming out of your timeline is by just holding down the Alt key on

your keyboard.

And just by using the scroll wheel and your mouse This is so much faster.

Right.

And I give an example if I go to another one of my projects here like if I want to zoom out zoom in

I can do that much much quicker if I just use my OK.

And the squirrel on my mouse forgot about two hour project here.

If I just want to move left and right inside my timeline then I can just hit the scroll with my mouse.

It's much faster than actually dragging this pilot and right so I can drive this pilot and ride slow

or I can hold down this point here to zoom in and zoom out very slow.

Or alternatively I can do Scovel on my mouse.

That's what I always do.

My favorite thing to do.

Another thing I like to do is I like to open up my tracks so I want to be able to see what's going on

because when you drop everything onto the timeline it looks pretty compressed and sometimes hard to

see what's going on.

Now again you can either use these bars here on the on the right hand side to open things up or the

lovely scroll wheel which is what I love doing.

Right.

And I can just move up and down these tracks and I'll show you what I'm doing.

I'm holding down I'm getting my son and I'm moving it around this point here.

Hold the key down and have a used a squirrel in my mouse I can open up that up.

Open up that clip so I can see exactly what's going on.

Put the cursor here hold the OK down scroll wheel on the mouse much much faster.

So he used a scroll wheel.

Open up and collapse it.

Now as I'm editing my clips this is going to save you so much time if I play this back I'm hitting the

spacebar on my keyboard to stop and play it.

I'm not doing this to slow it using the spacebar.

And then what I'm going to do something really cool.

I'm going to use the cube and the w options on my keyboard to then chop where I don't want my clip.

Suppose you mean if I play this spacebar and I'm like I don't want that pace I'm going to hit the cue

button.

Watch this.

It's kind of chop it out and it's going to take.

When I do that is chopped at that pace and then it's automatically moved my footage to the left on my

timeline.

If I play it now and I'm like that's exactly what I want.

I want that pace and everything after that.

I don't want it.

So I hit the W key on the cable.

Watch this.

It automatically from where the play hit is onwards.

It automatically cuts it and deletes it and then brings this next clip to my click that I do want.

So if I play this back.

All right.

That's exactly what I want.

If I hit undo.

So this is another really cool shortcut control Zed undoes the action or control shift.

Zed really does the action or re do the action.

Redoes the action follow the controls read undo control shift Zed or command shift.

Zed is to redo much faster than going up here and doing undo and redo up here.

So if I do it if you get you put on the time line and you playing this is what I used to do.

To pause or stop.

I used to get my cut to my raise it to.

Then I said to go click and then I said to get my select two that I use to delete it.

And then I said this like these clips and then drive them like that so slow.

A few other things.

Is the raise it to like I mean you'll be using this religiously.

And rather than hitting the option or the icon he just hit C on the keyboard.

And when you hit C you'll see a little icon change and you can just cut away and then undo and then

you hit V on the cable it's one of my other favorites.

That's why like two.

And then I can click on a clip.

Move it around.

Move it to different tracks like that.

Now this is really really cool as well.

If you have some graphics that you want to duplicate.

So if I quickly create here for example time I'll just randomly create time stamp right as a text title.

Right then I click on this and what I want to do is I want to duplicate it.

I want to duplicate this without having to recreate every single time right.

So there's got to be a faster way of doing it than just you know having to retype it every single time

if I want to duplicate that title.

All I got to do this is really cool is a whole down the OK I click on this and then I drag it away and

then I drag it wherever I want it's automatically going to duplicate that see duplicated.

I click on this hold and the key and then at that like I said that is it.

I don't have any other quick shortcuts that I usually use if I can think of other ones throughout the

course that I'll mention them but they're the ones that I typically use on a frequent basis so of the

course and I'll see you in the next video.
