All language subtitles for 22. BUTTERY SMOOTH Slow Motion (Speed Ramping, Optical Flow)

Hi everybody welcome back.

It is bright again here.

Brand new to dot tv.

I am going to show you exactly how to recreate the buttery smooth look that you just saw in your own

footage using slow motion and time remapping in this little video.

So I'm using Adobe Premiere percés the 20:19 if using a previous version that's completely ok.

You'll still be able to follow along.

So I am going to start from the very top.

I'm going to go to a new sequence and I'm going to give you also the two clips that you can download

the two skateboarding clips if you want to try and follow along to this video.

All you can do is use your own footage that's completely OK.

So now I get a new sequence and I've got my two skateboarding clips.

Now I want to first and foremost point out that if you want to create really good slowmotion in your

videos in your Lokes then make sure that when you're filming the videos that you're filming them at

at least 50 frames a second this is what I do.

I shot these skateboarding clips at 50 frames a second in my camera and you can tell by right clicking

on the clip going to properties and then up here where it says frame right.

It says 50.

OK.

If it's anything less than 50 then you're not going to have as much flexibility to play with when it

comes to editing and playing with slow motion.

If you have 60 frames or 120 frames available as an option in your camera make sure that you sit like

those as well and you'll have much more flexibility to play with.

So the first thing I'm going to do is aside from picking and choosing what I wanted what what particular

clip I want to use in my final vlog.

I've got them down here on my timeline.

The first thing is I've got audio.

So if I play this back I've got the actual audio of the skateboarder.

Now I don't want this all I want to get rid of the audio.

I don't want to put in that nice little track that you saw at the beginning of this video.

Very easy to do.

Right click on link click on that or you can do control L on the keyboard and then just get rid of those

two audio clips.

So all we're dealing with now is the video.

The next thing I want to do is firstly I want to make sure that we're on the same screen layout so click

on editing up here right there.

Just make sure that we're looking at pretty much the same stuff.

Next thing is if you go into your sequence you want to make sure that you've got this track.

Expand that out so you could the mouse cursor where it changes.

Click on that.

Drag it up open it right out.

Or you can hold down the key on the keyboard and use the scroll wheel.

Just make this video track bigger so you can see what's going on inside these two clips here.

OK.

Now there's two ways of this.

Few ways actually to slow down your clips to make them slow slower.

The first thing or the first way is by clicking on the clip.

If I play this back normal speed OK.

If I right click on this clip go to space duration click on that and then change this to 50 percent.

So what I'm doing is I'm reducing the clip playback speed by half.

So it was shot at 50 frames a second.

If I were just about 50 percent it's going to playback at 25 frames a second which means that it's still

going to look really smooth.

What applies back at 50 percent speed for click OK.

You'll see that the clip expands outwards.

Right.

It's it's longer because now it's playing back at 50 percent speed.

If I hit play you can see that the clip is playing back slow.

Now you can see that the entire clip is playing back slower.

So I applaud the effect across the entire clip.

But what if you just want only a part of that clip to be slow motion.

So if you want this to be normal speed but then where the guy is kicking his skateboard you want that

to be slow motion.

Then what do you do.

So the second way is by using time remapping which is where you change the speed of the clip at certain

points along the clip itself.

So what you do is you're right click on the clip go to show clip keyframes go to time remapping click

speed.

So now you're seeing this change and you'll see this line here on your clip.

If you hit the P button on your keyboard or if you click on the pen tool we're going to zoom in a little

bit.

What I do when I'm creating my logs is I scrub my play head and I look for a point where I want the

slow motion to begin.

So I play this back in my right there.

So all I got to do is click onto my clip and it creates a keyframe right there or you'll see it here

where it says Add Remove keyframe.

You can either click on this or you can click up here onto the actual clip.

If you're not seeing this option it's because you have expanded the track out enough if you expand that

right out then you get that option over here.

And then what I do is I keep playing it until I decide where I want the clip to play back to normal

spade again.

So Mike I want this to be slow slow slow.

And then around here I want to fly back at normal speed.

So then I click here to credit another keyframe just like that.

So now I've got two points.

And then all I do is change back to my selection tool or hit V on the keyboard and then I drag this

line down.

So if I click on this line and I drag it down and when I drag it down you see the percentage decrease

60 percent.

If I drive down to 50 percent that means that this part of the clip is going to play at 25 frames a

second.

If I let that go what this is what happens.

Slow slow slow and then normal again.

My computer is running a little bit slow so normal speed slow and then normal.

So a little trick that you can do.

This is really really awesome too by the way is if you drag this down if you drag this down to less

than 50 percent because remember any shop has a 50 frames.

If I drop this down to like 25 percent right watch this and I play this back it's going to look really

shitty.

Watch this.

Normal.

It's a really jittery really jaggery really crappy.

This is a really cool technique that you can apply if you want to make the most of your footage shot

at 50 frames a second and you want it to be buttery smooth like what you saw at the beginning.

If you right click on this.

So you've already applied the time remet remapping Iraq click on this and you go to speed generation

CIRCE's time interpellation if change from frame rate frame sampling to optical flow.

Click OK.

Then there's one other thing you need to do.

If you play this back you like that doesn't make a difference.

You need to render this clip now.

So if you select this clip see where it has the red line here.

That means the clip has not been rendered so if you go up here you select the clip first you got to

sequence and where it says render selection click on that.

It's going to now render this clip this selection and then when it finishes rendering the line here

will change from red to green.

So you know that the clip has been rendered and that particular effect that we clicked on has now been

applied.

So I have to wait now.

OK awesome so a clip has now been rendered.

We got the green line there.

Now watch this.

Look at that.

Very very smooth.

Play that back once again.

And that's pretty much it.

Now with this other clip over here with this other skateboarder it's the same thing.

I Right-Click showed clip keyframes time remapping and then all I do is I just pick a point exactly

what I did before I hit my pen till I make the selection.

I don't get muscle like Torm.

They drag it all down and it is dragged down to same.

37 percent remember right click and then go to time and typically an optical flow click OK render the

selection.

Let's do this.

OK.

So now they rended we got the green line.

So apply this back.

This is what happens.

Normal speed normal speed slow motion.

Look at that.
