All language subtitles for 13. How to Zoom Cut (Simple Trick!)

Hi.

Welcome back.

It is Brad here again with another Adobe Premiere Pro Sisi tutorial.

In this video I'm going to show you a really cool simple editing technique little trick that you can

use that will help to keep your audience more engaged when they watch your videos.

It's something that I I used to use every now and again in my older blogs.

I started using it more and more with my most recent talking head video.

So like videos like what you see on your screen right now so I'll show you what I mean.

So it's really basic.

All we're going to do now this is if I zoom out I've got a clip here inside a sequence and I'm just

going to use this as an experiment.

And it's just a little talking head video.

Now if I play this back

again.

So.

Okay so all of that is shot at the same scale.

So the distance that I'm sitting from my camera is the same throughout the entire length of this clip.

Now what I can do just so it's more interesting for people to watch because you know this video turned

out to be if I actually go into the original vlog This is the original vlog here.

So this is how long it is like 10 minutes or something like that right.

So to keep a log that's like 10 minutes more interesting to the viewer.

You want to make it more.

You want to make it juicy.

And what I mean by that is you want to change up things like the perspective and I'll show you how to

do that.

And by doing that it just makes it more interesting to the user or to the viewer when they're watching

the vlog.

They're not going to get bored very quickly.

So what I'm going to do I'm going to cut here just the way I've taken a breath which is applied a cut

there.

I've taken my razor tool or see on the keyboard and have applied a cut there

and I've taken another breath here and I'm just going to randomly put another cut right there.

So now I've got a piece right here.

Now what I'm going to do is I'm going to go over to effects controls over here on the top left hand

corner.

Click on that.

I'm going to see this effects control panel right here.

And worse is scale it says 100 percent.

I'm going to drop this arrow down here and then you'll see there's a little scroll bar here and I'm

gonna change the perspective now.

You can call this technique cut and zoom or you can call it fake perspective.

You can call it fake scale.

I don't know the exact if what the proper terminology is for it but I'll show you how to do it.

So if I zoom that in say for example to 140 130 it's going to have the impact that I want it to have

without really compromising quality too much because if I zoom all the way in then you know it looks

a little bit like too blurry and a little bit lost a little bit of a loss in quality but if I just be

a little bit modest with the scale change and to take it to say 130 once at night that I'll leave it

at that.

And then all I've got to do is adjust the position of the video within the canvas if I bring the 540

up to I don't know just over 600.

Now there's a limit to this as you can see where there's a black bar there.

But if I just bring it so that the top of my head falls within the top of the frame and then I make

an adjustment horizontally sine they're about center right.

So essentially I've captured just below my shoulders I've taken I've got a bit of a close up.

Now I've gone from a bit of a longer wide shot to more of a close up shot and that perspective change

is really all you need to do and it's so basic.

So really just you can you can do this to any if you're emphasizing a point or you want to accentuate

a point or an argument in your vlog.

This is probably the best time to use a technique like this and really I've only I'm only using one

camera in this vlog.

I've only got one camera on a tripod typically to do this technique properly.

You know you'd have like 2k you have like a multi camera setup you'd have two cameras set up and then

you would just cut between the two cameras with different perspectives.

But you know I'm very basic and I have a very simple cost effective setup with one camera on a tripod

and I'm just making the most of what I have.

And this is enough to keep people more engaged.

You know it's a simple little cut and that's it.

I go from zoom in back to zoom out.

Sometimes I even change the colour.

This is going one step further.

I haven't changed the colour grading so that I make for example you know if I go into luminary colour

this is going a little bit above and beyond the tutorial.

But if you had a window and you go to down here where it says Lumen entry metric colour make sure that's

ticked and then you will come up here on the right hand side the Metro colour click on that if you click

on where it says basic you have basic correction creative where it says look it says none.

If I hit the dropdown I have all my lookup tables.

And if you just click around like Adobe Premiere Pro comes with all these default ones just click around

and you'll see that you can change the color grading to how like I can change it to black and white

for example monochrome and I'll show you what happens right now.

Now this is the personal creative choice by changing the color grading just for that piece of the clip

just makes things a little bit more interesting with your blogs but otherwise it's up to you.
