All language subtitles for 12. How to Jump Cut Like A Pro

Hi.

Welcome back.

It's Brad here again in another Adobe Premiere Pro Sisi tutorial.

I'm actually going to show you how to use the jump cutting editing technique in your logs and if you

want you can implement this technique you don't have to.

Personally I don't use it that much.

Very rarely do I use the jump cut method however a lot of big time YouTube is out there use jump cuts

and some of them use it way too much in my opinion and it kind of gets too distracting.

Now I'll play it back.

If you're not sure what a jump cut is I'll play it back on your screen right now.

This is an example that I've put together and once you see it you'll know exactly what a jump cut is.

And then I'll show you how to do it yourself.

So essentially that's cut cut cut cut.

And the reason for doing the cuts is to really just remove all of the you know arms butts hours all

of the fillers that people generally use when they have a normal conversation with somebody else.

And typically the reason why YouTube vlog would use a jump cut is to try and keep the try and keep the

viewer engaged in the content because usually you know if you're arming and arming and you know using

all of these filler words you can lose the attention of the person very quickly.

However in my opinion if you have a really good story in your ability to tell stories is is high up

there then I think it doesn't matter.

You can get away without using jump cuts and people will still listen to you.

You know like if you go to any live event you know people can be completely engaged for several hours

at a live event because the person on stage is telling a really engaging story there's no need to chop

out.

Ah no but that's my personal opinion but I'll play this clip back without any jump cut to apply it and

then I'll show you how I did it.

about my feelings.

Okay so that's before the jump cuts were applied and this is after the jump cuts were applied.

So essentially what I've done is over removed my breathing right.

I've taken a breath I'll pay this back.

Breathe over here breathe.

So the breathing.

I've chopped out and this is very common a lot of big YouTube is do this and I'll show you how to do

it so delete this over here.

I'll take this clip here and I'll just duplicated right and what I'll do is I'll play this back if I

if I want to.

I could cut this little space out and what I'm doing is I'm zooming into the clip and I'm using my razor

tool over here.

So if I click on the razor tool or I press C on the keyboard then I can my cursor will change to the

razor tool and then I zoom in to the clip by holding the young ult on the keyboard.

And cutting it there moving my play head along.

And then I can either cut it here or I can use cue on the keyboard.

So there's a little cut there.

If I move along so I'm taking a breath.

So to cut out my breath.

This is what you do best A lot of big time YouTube is do.

So I'm cutting out my breathing there.

I just delete that.

And right now just like that.

And right now I'm not doing any more.

I haven't for about three months now.

Another breath so you get the idea.

So essentially what I'm doing is moving along.

So that's pretty much it.

That's all there is to a jump cut now.

That's it.

Try it for yourself.

See if you like it if you don't like it.

You don't have to use it in my opinion.

I personally don't.

If you look at all my blogs because most of them are shot outdoors in the wild in nature I don't use

it at all and only in very few talking head videos that I've ever done I've actually used this technique.
