All right.

So what we're doing is we're setting
ourselves up for these plumes of black

India ink going down through the water.

So we filled our tank,

about as much as it could take, I
think, is really, really full.

This is a big, sturdy tank.

It is covering the width of our
background.

I want to do a couple things here right
now.

We're just capturing the top surface
line.

I actually want this to feel like
you're underwater looking up and seeing

this horizon of water.

And then the ink is going to be
dropping down into it and around the bottle.

So the first thing that we've done

is put our new set together.

We've got rid of the bottle and the
glass and everything in the front.

We've put our tank up on these sturdy
apple boxes

filled with water, and we've basically
got three lights.

We maintained that barlight,

which was giving us that nice edge,
witing on both the glass and the

bottle.

We've maintained that on that far right
side, because we want that kind of

movement from that light coming in on
these plumes.

Now that light was not enough to carry
all the way to the other side of the

tank.

I mean, this tank is four feet in
width, which means the light coming out

of that barlight is not going to be
enough to transfer all the way to the

other side.

So we've added amount of block.

It's got just a piece, seventy
reflector with a twenty degree grid.

We're kind of bringing that light in
it's going to come from the other side.

In order to give both these plumes from
both sides.

We want to have edge lighting, right?

We want to give it the sense that it is
edge lit.

So we want definition in it.

We don't want just a background light
to be the only source of light, because

then we're just creating silhouettes.

We need light within those plumes,
which is why we're bringing that edgelight.

Then the last thing we're doing is
we're kicking up our background light a

little bit.

We want to give it a little lift, a
little bit of light, so that we can

remove those plumes nice and easily,
then put it onto a background that

we're going to shoot separately.

So once we've got this all done and
we're happy with it, we'll pull the

tank out,

we'll shoot just the background, and
that'll be kind of the foundation that

will build everything on a couple of
things that we've had to do that

barlight is kicking out a lot of light,
in fact, it's washing on the background

completely.

And it's kicking out so much light into
the studio that everything here was

reflecting.

So we put up a black dubutine in order
to prevent light from coming out here,

reflecting off of me, reflecting off
the camera, anything over there.

And we put another scrim, just a true
black flag, on the backside, to kill

that barlight from completely washing
out the background.

The background is not exactly how we
want it to look in the final, but it's

at the right place to give enough light
and definition to these plumes of ink.

With that being said, I think we get
wrong.

So what's going to happen is, I'm
actually going to sit at the camera,

and I'm going to watch, Kate is going
to drop

four or five different plumes of ink
into the water.

We are one shot at this.

The tank is going to get contaminated

within just a few seconds as all this
ink goes,

which means we have to pump it out and
do it all over again.

I don't want to do it again.

So we're going to go very quickly and
get as many shots as we can and see

where we land.

Your tough fire.

Yeah.

Maybe a couple of them,

cop them on them.

I almost feel like I just need to be
consistent.

I just

fire.

Ok,

It's exactly what I want.

I think it's really cool.

There's something about

this cloud.

It might be cool to have that all down
there.

Oh, oh,

getting it.

I know

a billowing is gorgeous.

It is moving incredibly slowly.

Now,

you know what else I really like about
it?

It really has that blue cast to it.

In certain places it goes from black to
blue, as cool as hell.

So those plumes worked exactly how we
wanted.

And thankfully, everything was in
perfect working order.

Firing as we were going.

We've got a whole variety of those
plumes, which is perfect.

And post we can grab any of them and
move them around.

But I'm also really liking what was
happening there in that last bit, as

everything was mixing in.

The bottom.

Didn't expect that

there might be something even better in
that.

So I think we've got some really cool
options.

I love it.

That's it really pump out?

Yeah, what's fun.

By this day it's whacking.

And what we're going to do now is
actually use the beer pump, and we're

going to pull all this water out, make
sure that we are good and safe, and

then, if desired, we can do it again.

But honestly,

I know I have exactly what I need.
