attention ladies gentlemen and Prague
snobs I have an important announcement
that may shock you there are people out
there that don't like the band tool I'm
going to give you a minute while you
pick up your heart your balls and a
couple of other organs and you stitch
yourself back together but this is true
there are those out there that don't
feel that tool is the bee's knees the
cat's pajamas you know the best chin of
the century and really tool seems like a
band that has sort of this universal fan
base but not everybody in the universe
likes this group in fact typically
perpetuates two different reactions the
first of which are those that perk up at
any sort of information whether it be
real or you know ludicrous hoping that
an album that's going to be released
actually three years is going to come
out in a week and then there are those
that simply put their head and meet it
with their hand and say not this band
again Scroll scroll Scroll scroll is it
gone good yeah this is a pen that
actually has a little bit more of that
sort of yes or no black and white style
of band bass and anti fan base that
we've seen a lot within the five reason
series too much surprise to so much to
the point that many people felt that
finding five reasons people hated tool
was an unassailable mountain well it's
been a saleable and we're going to do it
here are five reasons people hate tool
and we're going to begin of course with
number five number five is the base
about whether or not their heavy metal
yeah I know I know what you're thinking
right out of the gates doesn't really
matter and really the answer to that
question is no it really doesn't matter
however to a subsection of fans and anti
bands that I have seen over the course
of the past say seven to eight years
really you could say ever since the
release of 10,000 days or the invention
of the Internet has definitely made this
a point that needs to be debated but
I've even seen this whenever I worked at
a music store and heard people debating
about what tool is or where they should
be there are another one of those vans
that should be kind of in the third
edition of is it metal or is it rock
because I don't remember if I put it in
any of the first two editions that's a
cheap plug but at any rate this is a
group that they're real
whenever it came to their music style is
sort of always been help for challenge
and whenever you consider whenever this
van came out during the first part of
the 1990s where grunge was really one of
the big things that years were consuming
and they had it themselves a fringe line
band in Dallas and chains that easily
could have been perhaps knocked over
into the metal section in the ears of
some tools a band that really that
difference is what perpetuated more and
more people to scope them out they were
different than what you heard on the
radio it gave them a little bit of an
edge over some of the other bands out
there their unique sound was also
consumed on the radio which means that a
lot of people feel well if they're able
to get on the radio with their unique
sound why not this fan why not this man
why not my favorite band it's definitely
something that's caused a lot more of
the argument not just based around
solely where they belong in a music
store it's kind of ridiculous to was
just able to break through that's just
the way it goes number four Maynard
James Keenan is pretentious now this is
one that you're going to see among
people that tend to not have very much
information about the band like if you
ask them to you know name five different
songs they'll probably name you know the
pot and sober and then they'll really
struggle for the last three but aside
from that they are these are also the
types that are extremely internet savvy
and read about Maynard's propensity to
not speak the literal frontman during
cool shows back off thing to stay closer
to the back also they claimed this
pretentiousness bass drum is vocal
delivery at times as well based around
the idea that at times it's sort of this
sort of soft register that lingers in
the background and then all of a sudden
becomes front and center almost as
though the EDA mania is based off of
where his voice is like he wants you to
follow it either way this is also
cemented by some of his comments and
some of the things that we're going to
discuss with the next three reasons
overall they buy this personality to be
one of a highbrow prog snob you know the
types that you see with the monocle that
perhaps sipping a fine wine while
listening gold yes records I kind of
like old yes records does that make me a
progress knob I'm wearing sunglasses not
a monocle so explain that [ __ ] number
three they like Patrol their fans I
don't understand why this bothers people
so much but it honestly does and it's
something that just came back up once
again within the past month
recently they stated that there was
going to
brand-new tool album entitled take home
and it was going to be based off of a 10
year anniversary of the release of
10,000 days and it was going to have
songs that none a single one of them was
under 12 minutes in length they would
support to have a track listing and
everything whether or not this is legit
or not there's a good chance that it
probably isn't - always been the type
that has trolled their bands for quite
some time to be perfectly honest other
groups have done it as well
Jason points Type O Negative they're
also another group that is really liked
to do this the tool is a little bit more
famous for considering they're a little
bit more well known than Type O Negative
ones I know I know
Type O Negative fans now collectively
one who raised Peter Steele from the
dead so they can kill me either way this
is a main reason why some people have
actually walked away from the band
because they simply feel like they've
been hurt too many times with patroling
they've had to endure longer weights
based around trolling the information
from the trolling and the troll posts
have just made them mad and made them
saucy and sometimes even made him feel a
little sad and based around that they
can no longer enjoy the band anymore
listen there was a time period where I
myself couldn't enjoy tool for a little
bit but it was based around a little bit
of the you know I guess attachment that
I had for this band based off of a
couple people that I knew that were in
my life and then all of a sudden worked
that makes it a little bit difficult but
after about you know Oh week you get
over it after a couple of troll posts
you have to learn to laugh at yourself
you have to learn to laugh at the band
maybe give him the finger if you really
want to but at the same time whenever
you get more legit information or even
another troll post you're going to read
it again trust me I know you I can see
you I actually work for you know the
people that are spying on number two
release the damn album this goes with
number three this has been the fact that
this group has been notorious for their
long waits whenever it comes to new
releases and when coupled with the troll
posts up whenever these albums are going
to come out it certainly causes some
real concern many people want the
brand-new tool record to follow up
10,000 days I don't want to work wait
10,000 days for it because waiting
10,000 days is a long [ __ ] time it's
like 30 years and we're already one
third of the way there
so why not go full hog I guess but it's
definitely something that always seems
to keep them grips especially whenever
Maynard James Keenan himself is
releasing other music with his other
projects whether it be Lucifer or a
perfect circle though it's been a while
for a perfect circle so hey Maynard
maybe at any rate this is something that
infuriates a lot of people and has
actually cost the man some of its
dedicated core which you might find to
be a little bit amazing considering the
same type of stuff happen whenever
ladder Ellis came out in fact whenever
lateralis drop it was almost a shock
whenever the first single broke and then
whenever it came to 10,000 days the
weight was very long it was five years
and there was definitely some mixed
information but with this recent wait
for the follow-up the 10,000 days with
the court battles that have gone on
people are really unsure whether or not
they can believe everything that they
hear or believe everything that they see
and read regarding this fan or if
they're just being lazy and have it a
good luck at the expense of their own
fan base either way it steered some
people aside it's caused a lot of anger
and hurt feelings which again just feels
absolutely astronomically weird but then
again I guess it makes sense whenever
the number one reason is the pretentious
fanbase this is something that is only
happened recently to be perfectly honest
if this list was constructed you know 15
years ago two things would be true first
of all it would look like [ __ ] and I
have no idea where I would post it and
two we wouldn't have this problem with a
fanbase being pretentious this has been
one that has really come with the meme
generation it's one that seems to have
appeared ever since say about 2007-2008
and this goes back to that idea that
Toole fans believe that they are one of
the best groups on the planet and that's
traditionally what a rabid fan base will
kind of have going for them they have a
savage love for a bad they enjoyed them
they are their primary love and that's
typically okay however in recent memory
they're being seen as one of these frogs
snobby bands that really is always in
conversation whenever it comes to any
sort of musical illusion that these
folks are talking about or any sort of
musical discussion that they are a part
of based around that idea there's a lot
of folks that
one point in time would have been a okay
with listening the tool or checking them
out for the very first time but now are
going to step aside and figure it's not
really worth it considering they're
being barged with the information think
about what happens whenever a big hit
song a big hit you know pop song or
country song or rap song or even rock
song comes out and you see its share to
you know your social media seven
different times it's right there in a
line you know now they've packaged it
all together and whenever you see you
know view eleven more posts and you
click on it the whole thing is basically
just saying the same thing this song is
really good man this song makes me work
man this song makes me wonder what is
the first thing that you want to do
chances are you don't want to touch it
if it's not really your style
second of all you'll check it out but
you're going in jaded feeling like
you're going to hate it it was
instantaneously because it's popular now
there are those out there that will
follow everything that's popular and be
just fine with it but whenever it comes
to those on the other side viewing you
know people talk about tool in such a
highbrow way is almost the same effect
almost the same idea they take a look at
this they take a look at all the
generalized backery that's going on
based around this band and surrounding
tool and they're immediately going to
want to stand aside and not want to be a
part of that it's that inclusiveness
exclusiveness that overexposure idea
that sometimes plagues some of the
biggest bands no matter what genre that
they're a part of either way if you're
we're really being conversed about in a
large style you're doing something right
but there are still going to be those
out there that seal that conversation
and want to plug their ears there you
have it ladies and gentleman five
reasons why people hate tool which seems
like the most impossible thing on the
planet because to rid the tools awesome
I love tool they're a great band I'm
eagerly anticipating the follow-up the
ten thousand days I'd like for it to be
sooner rather than later
but the band could take the time and to
be artists that they didn't release a
brand-new album I would be all that hurt
anyhow but that's just me many people
would disagree
what do you disagree with about this
list let me know in the comments below
is there anything that you thought that
we missed and if you think that there's
another band that needs to be roasted
and toasted birth to a crisp and their
whole entire fanbase be puts on call
let me know what band that is in the
comments below as well my name is cover
killer nation and until next time
whatever we talk about five reasons why
another band is disliked I'll talk to
you guys
