And while I was there,

I was exposed
to the rich legacy

of the Barnett Aden Gallery,

the first privately-owned
Black gallery in the U.S.,

a space that helped launch

the careers of Romare Bearden,
Charles White,

Elizabeth Catlett,
and so many others.

I wish to create a legacy

that lives up
to that history...
