Although the siege was considered
a tragedy by the National Government,

it was also considered a victory
of State institutions over MR20.

The Palace was totally destroyed.

The damages reduced the building
to a pile of brick and concrete

on the brink of collapse.

To most Colombians, what happened during
those 29 seemingly unending hours

put an end to the desire for peace.
