and only her fingerprints
were on it.

We contended, of course,

that Amyas Crale had used it
to kill himself.

But if he had,

his fingerprints would
have been on it as well.

And how did she give it to him, this poison?

Used a pipette to spike his beer.

while he was painting.

crushed near the scene
of the crime.

Now, that does strike me as odd.

They have just had
a row most horrific

in which she has threatened to kill him,

and yet a short time later,

they're having an argument relatively trivial

in which M. Crale says
he will see to Angela's packing.

or the governess
or the housekeeper?

I did not know M. Crale,

but, you know,
somehow I cannot picture him

folding neatly the skirts,
